  • @FR240SX
    @FR240SX 2 года назад +28

    According to instructions here I waited until the on-ramp line turned from yellow to white. This ramp had an extended yellow for some reason so I was still going ramp speed until it turned white. By then examiner thought I was not going to accelerate and failed me. Lesson learned, do NOT wait for white to start accelerating, do it as soon as the curve becomes straight.

    • @gromit576
      @gromit576 Год назад +6

      I took the M last week. I had this question in my mind so I asked the instructor/tester if we have to follow the ramp speed for the entire yellow track.
      1. She mentioned the ramp speed didn't mean the maximum speed for the section. It meant safe speed for the section.
      2. You can accelerate on the yellow section according to your comfort and confidence level
      3. Blinkers/left signal should be on just before the yellow track changed to the white track
      4. gauge the highway speed and merge once you are at the highway speed at that point as traffic speed is different during rush/off hours.

    I do not agree with MTO"S insistence on a ' 3' point stop. ie 1 foot on the rear brake at a full stop. I put both feet down for stability and use my front brake to a) keep my brake light on and b) to maintain a full stop. This makes me ready for any unforeseen action were by I might need to move suddenly. Like all seasoned riders I do not use all 4 fingers on the front brake lever. this gives me the ability to blip the throttle to match revs for down shifting as well as full two hand control of the bars at all times. Even with my older bike with a fully mechanical front brake all four fingers are not required to apply full braking pressure to the front wheel. I say this as a seasoned rider (50+ accident free years and thousands of incident free miles of riding.

    Just back from my M2 exit test on Walkley and passed with flying colours, thanks to this detailed video 🙏🏽 . Really helped me polish up on finer points they’d be looking for. Slight variation in route, we left the centre headed west on Walkley, left onto airport parkway, right on hunt club, right on Paul Anka, then left on McCarthy, right on Walkley, return to test centre…passed! Suggestions to me were, 1) look left-right -left…2) pump rear brake to indicate you’re slowing, and 3) merge faster on highway after indicating…all of which I thought I was doing, but he was not going to give me 100 % lol. Good luck to others taking the test….practice…practice…practice! And thanks again bro!

    How picky are they about leaning vs. counterleaning whike cornering at speed? I rode both sport and cruiser style bikes (will be using a cruiser for the M2 exit test) and i lean with the bike whike riding sport but counterlean as its more efficient on heavier cruisers, was just wondering if they seem to look down on counterleaning at speed? Even though it allows you more stability if you need to make an emergency stop and allows you to see further through the corner you are taking, so its debatably the safee way of cornering on a bike....at least a cruiser that is

    Do you need to leave it in gear when you park and get off?

      I don’t think they explicitly check this, I always leave it in gear.

      My bike will shut itself off if you put the kickstand down in gear. I don't think this is a testing thing.

    I personally feel motorbikes should not be allowed on highways, it is far too dangerous, i don't think id ever want to go on a high way and rather use the inroads to get between cities, i mean with jokers like this guy 10:10 if that was on a highway it'd be hell.

    what about highway speed? would you get docked if you went over 100km/h? (despite the fact everyone does 120-140km/h here anyway)

      Yeah, you need to go the speedlimit in the right lane. +-few km

    Do you have to signal every bend in the road in the residential area when you were just ride around ?

    • @GuaranteedEtern
      @GuaranteedEtern Год назад

      Bends in the road? No - that would be news to me - you only signal when changing lanes, pulling off or on a road or turning onto a different street.

    There is no too slow.. the speed is a maximum limit. Not an obligation. I corrected an evaluator on this saying to a teen to ''bring it up to the speed limit'' There is no bylaw on that unless you are on a HWY where the minimum is usually 60km/h and max 100km/h.

    • @NYDStories
      @NYDStories  2 года назад +11

      You are right but that would not help you pass the exam, also too slow might create impediments for the traffic, the scope of the video is to help pass the test, arguing with the evaluator would not set you in a winning position.

      @@NYDStories Of course not but thats when ego cross the line of being professional. If its not the law also that we always promote the if you dont feel safe slow down. I dont understand why an evaluator would make a big deal out of it.

      @@Gabriel-x2y Because evaluators think God answers to them. They have the power to pass/fail, they are judge jury and executioner. If the evaluator tells to do something do it unless it's unlawful or completely unsafe. Or, you know, pay your money and book another test.

      The son of a friend of mine recently did his G license, and he merged traffic on the highway at around 90kmh. Too slow as the examiner said (I’m not sure if it may have been unsafe), but he failed the kid because he wasn’t fast enough. I would have challenged the examiner on that, as min. speed is there for a reason and he was over it. Seemed very much like a power tripping examiner. (He failed him for not being fast enough, not for driving unsafely)
