This, the new BRZ, Gr86, GTI, GLI, Elantra N, Kona N, Mazda3 turbo, upcoming Miata refresh, upcoming Z, upcoming Integra, upcoming GR Corolla, upcoming WRX/STI, the list goes on.........what a great time to be alive. I wonder if GM/Ford have a little bit of regret for leaving this segment. Thanks for this review!
This is the only car I considered over my GLI when I was getting a car a year ago. The updated SI makes it a serious contender. With the 2022 versions of those cars I'm honestly not sure which one I'd pick. What a great car for such a good price
I would also consider the new GR Corolla if it’s anything like the GR Yaris it’s gonna be a monster. It’s AWD and you can chose how much front wheel and rear whee drive basis it has.
I may wait until the model refresh. This doesn't have fog lights and other options that the Canadian one has, and it sells for cheaper up in Canada too. So, yes. The US version has less options/features for more money. I'm hoping that the model refresh will roll in those added items. That fuel economy sounds very good though!!
Almost perfect. Makes me excited for the Integra, more than I was before. They could directly rip everything but upgrade the front bumper and improve materials and it would be a winner. Anything like 360s, SH-AWD, or heat/vent seats would just be icing on the cake.
The Civic Si should never be overlooked~ Yes, you have the Honda Civic Type R which is a very sporty vehicle, but I feel like some people do not give the Si the credit it deserves. I've always loved Honda manual transmissions, I think their transmissions are the best in the business, and the Si is definitely no slouch. I just love the Civic lineup in general, and you can never go wrong with a Honda Civic. These things are bulletproof for years.
The 2.4 K-series have proven themselves. On the other hand, these 1.5 engines (same size as the GoldWing motorcycle) have not. As gearheads have been saying for decades: "There's no replacement for DISplacement".
Coming from someone who used to drive muscle cars, once I drove a honda/acura manual I never went back. Once I got into a 95' GSR I was sold, that thing was so fun to drive and the shift feel was superb.
Mr Topher really didn’t sound happy for one second when ever driving the last SI, but many love it. I own the 9th gen, and it is plenty fast. Sheesh, my wife’s 2019 2 liter corolla is fast enough once the CVT catches up to your throttle input. It really depends what you want; the philosophy of what your vehicle needs to be. For many of us, our vehicle needs to be cheap or hold a child’s seat.
I have a 9th gen as well, the K series that can make 500 N/A if you want. (4PISTON also makes a de-tuned version that does 360hp up to 9,000RPM) This 11th gen with it's juiced up 1.5 is going to throw a rod. No way it lasts like a 2.4 N/A, which is why K-swaps are so popular.
I have this Civic Si 2024. It's great if you have kids. I've had many cars, SW20, AE86, Evo X, 90s Sentra, then switched to trucks and Suvs. I had to get a new daily driver and bought a 24 Civic Sport 2.0 automatic trans at first. I returned it for a different Civic, test drove a 2.0 hatchback touring and then my Civic Si. I ended up with the Civic Si, because it reminded me of my Evo X. Not as fast as my Evo X but ride is more comfortable and quieter in this Civic Si. I'm a Toyota fan and wanted the GR86 Trueno but wouldn't work for my small family in the case of emergencies. It's a great daily, good for long drives on freeway, good gas mileage, good sedan body because the HB gets water in the trunk when it's raining. Overall so far I love this Civic Si.
Love Honda for having really good experience driving without high speed. You go 1,2,3 shifts with a lot of good engine noises, and you've got like 60km/h

I've rode inside a tuned 10thgen since and can say it's more of an ECU emission thing than a flywheel problem. Not to say a single mass doesnt help.

I wish Honda sold this Si in Europe. I feel like this kind of spec could be very attractive to the average young european family. 6MT, reasonably priced mid-size sedan (for euro standards), with an efficient engine and some sporty vibes to deal with the twisties that are so usual around here. I'm sure they will offer some sort of 'sport' model here but, as for every previous gen, it will be a lot further from the Type R in terms of feeling than the Si.
Glad I found your channel. I hate most car reviews on youtube; most of them are nothing but clickbait and people assing off on camera and acting like a muppet for views. Your video and sound quality are great and really lets me get an idea of what driving the cars you feature are like.
People rag on this car for being slow - but I see a really quick car navigating those challenging twisties. Wow. At least GTI level. I'm excited with this, GR86/BRZ, new GTI,and the N triad. Wow. Affordable performance finally. Then of course there's the AWD Golf R, new Corolla GR, new Type R and new STI that will turn up the price and the performance wick.
Problem is, the GTI, and damn near everything else at this point, is considerably quicker. We're talking a full second quicker to 60, and 7 tenths in the quarter mile, in the case of the GTI vs. this new Si. 🤷♂️ If the car is marketed towards enthusiasts, acceleration certainly matters. At 28K it's going to be a bit harder of a sale.
@@GoDsSoN770 straight line speed does not matter. The 10th gen type r was slower then every other competitor in a drag race, but was almost minutes faster around the nurburgring and holds the record for the fastest fwd car in that course

Gotta say love love the new 11th gen SI. I would drive this no problem as a daily. With the Hondata FlashPro to give this car a bit of extra juice it would be the icing on the cake :)
@@JFlogerzi sounds good to me! $30,000 is still a lot of cash! And it’s getting harder & harder to buy a new car for under $30,000 especially with the world falling apart now and dealers capitalizing on that. And it’s all unnecessary
@hon solo I'm just saying they shouldn't do a cash grab at nostalgia if they aren't going to make it look, feel and drive like the old one. Look at the new Z. That is how you do it. The "Integra" is an Integra in name only. If I put the new Integra in between the ILX and the old Integra, you'd think it was the new ILX all day.
@hon solo You're fooling yourself if you think names for BEV won't be recycled. They will continue to make use of nostalgia and associated heuristics just like the Mustang and Lightning names.
It’s so hard for me to go from a nice Acura leather interior to the Si Cloth interior, seems like such a downgrade for me, but honestly it’s the only car I want on the market. Sporty, reliable, manual, cheaper side.
If Honda just made the Si hatchback, instead of the Si sedan, Sport hatchback manual, and Sport Touring hatchback manual; I bet it would sell more of the former than the latter 3 cars combined.
Reminds me of my old 89 Integra, which was a joy to drive on twisty roads. Topher came close to scaring me on that canyon road, especially where there were drop offs. 😮 Definitely looks like a great car for the next time I'm in the market. Nice review.
After the last two Si’s being not so great, I am thrilled to hear your glowing review on this one. I’m seriously interested in this car! I miss driving a manual and this might be the perfect answer. Nothing too fussy about it. I wish I could opt out of the red seats inside. Otherwise I’m loving it. Keep up the great work!!
going to a single-mass flywheel is really good for the new gen, the responsiveness even sounds like it's there. dual-mass can be such a hog, which is why i'm changing the clutch and flywheel on my 10th gen haha
I don't understand why Honda did that in the first place. It can't help with emissions. Doesn't make sense. I'm still rocking my 8th gen Si sedan for now. I like the Accord Sport, but I actually am curious about the new Integra. I really wish Honda would make a dual clutch automatic like some German manufacturers
Wow 🤩 that thing is one sharp looking sedan ! It sounds really great ! Sporty , and economical, really nice blend of everything for sure . It seems very responsive and punchy . I gotta go test drive one right away !
Hey Topher which would you recommend? This SI or the GR86? They are both approximately the same price here in Canada. No family to worry about, just me.
@@siddharthsharma8940 At 35k there are alot of other choices. Granted in this market, a car that was 35k might be 40k. Idk tho, I saw a 22 Veloster N listed for 36k...that car has 75 more HP. 35k for the Si just doesnt make sense and no one should pay that. The Si is suppose to be a sporty car that is AFFORDABLE! a 7k 'market adjustment' is just disappointing
@@equi Right!? when topher said msrp I was like good luck finding one for that. I got a 2020 si new for 25k out the door. You cant find one used with 40k miles for that much now. The car market is horrible especially for new cars. The new civic hatch base is more than my si was. Even at msrp I find the SI overpriced by about 2-3 grand. I would try to wait the shortage out before buying new, these prices are a joke.
Come to Canada, the new SI has both and a full digital gauges display for our version. I don't know why they took them away for the US version though, unless if it is just for the southern states.
Wow I didn't expect that! What a hoot! Very nice sound, and it seems so composed and nimble at the same time. But...here in Europe, we never had the Si version, only 1.5t 182hp and type R, and guess what, with this new 11th gen, we will only get ONE( yes, you read correctly), ONE engine option, and that is a 1.5 n/a engine with hybrid and about 129hp and cvt .Yes, seriously. Thank you green bullshit, you completely killed the car industry.
ok so someone will have to correct me if I'm wrong but I got this indirectly from a dealer who dove into the new Si's parts list and, according to him, it does not have a carry-over engine from the previous Si, but actually has the same engine as their regular 1.5T Civic, albeit tuned separately : 10th gen Civic Si had a larger turbocharger than the Civic Sport and boosted 20.3 psi. Can be boosted to take full advantage of the larger turbo, but feels a little lost in the lower end without additional tuning, as you've noted. 11th gen Civic Si has the same turbocharger as the outgoing and previous Civic Sport and is boosting 16.5 psi, which is why it gains some low-end from the stock tune but loses a tad up top. 10th gen Civic Si had a different head, different pistons, intake cam, ECU and even fuel pump than all other 1.5T, and consequently can be modified to output quite a bit more power and torque without suffering any detriment in reliability/durability. 11th gen Civic Si, having the same engine as the Civic Sport likely won't see that kind of aftermarket tuning flexibility. Part of the power difference between the 11th Civic Sport and Si will be the octane recommendation 87 vs 91. That's why a lot of people are feeling pretty let down with this new Si as it will cost quite a bit more than the previous Si (if we compare the base Civics they're based off of) all while cutting in the engine department. Again, I just got this info somewhere else. Nonetheless, I think despite all that, I'd pick this 11th gen for everything that it is stylistically, inside and out. Sadly, my wife will likely be forcing me into an automatic daily driver so I think I might be more interested in the 11th gen Civic Hybrid. Oh well, still got the manual Miata.
True, but there is an upside to this. If you tune poorly and blow a motor it’s going to be MUCH cheaper to find and replace it. That’s a big pro in the tuning community.
Really interested in trying one of these out to see how it feels compared to my 2018 Accord Sport manual (1.5). The Accord isn't bad but there is a disconnect or inconsistency in the clutch and/or engine, which makes it really hard to drive smoothly.
Update…I now have a 2023 Civic Si in sonic gray pearl and it is SO MUCH BETTER than the Accord in every way other than back seat and trunk space, insurance and gas cost 😂
So hondata just dropped a Dyno video and it seems Honda underrated the the Hp and torque. It's makes 222 hp so I guess they did it to make room for the Integra.
Sooo happy with what I see int he new civic line up in general! looks like a real winner. But if I were in the market, the fact that the SI isn't available as a hatchback would be 100% a deal breaker for me. No available heated seats or heated steering is super sad for a brand new car too. If I didn't have cold weather to deal with, I would just get the GR86 anyway. Of course if you actually need the backseats regularly the 86 is out of the question. Veloster N has the same problem with no heat options, even though the non sporty ones have it. And both cars come standard with heat features in Canada, at a lower converted price. Why do foreign car companies think that we don't have cold weather in the US?! Total rip off. Super and about it. Next time I buy a car I may see if I can go buy it in Canada and drive it 20 hrs back if needed. Sorry, rant over
The first car I ever purchased was a 2007 civic si. I loved it. High revs and had no problems up until I sold it at 97k miles. I than leased a 2015 and 2018 WRX. So I’m looking forward to your review on the new WRX, with its twin-scroll turbocharger. Than I will decide what my next car will be.

Glad I found your channel. I hate most car reviews on youtube; most of them are nothing but clickbait and people assing off on camera and acting like a muppet for views. Your video and sound quality are great and really lets me get an idea of what driving the cars you feature are like.
Great video! Can’t wait to see you review the new 2022 Subaru WRX and get your thoughts on it. Keep up the great work!
@@gavinmersman4209 It matters to a good majority of people who aren't interested, or never will drive their cars around a track in that manner.
@@GoDsSoN770 I can see where you are coming from. But in an instant like this on a back road it would be perfect
@@GoDsSoN770 people need to stop looking at 0-60. This car is "slower" because it requires a 3rd gear change before 60. It's the gearing.
That was the most therapeutic video I’ve ever watched. Thanks Topher!
Such a scenic road! I want to drive there someday.
Just got mine today. Came with 6 miles on the odometer.🎉 Such a fun car to drive.
Picked a perfect road to do this POV on. Don’t know if the SI is as sick as the R, but still pretty dope.
Where is this road?
@@BeastFromTheEast79 Cali
Two different cars for two different purposes
But each one excels at what it was produced to deliver
@@1anre totally agree.
Thanks for putting this video together; the drive makes me miss living in SoCal and the miles and miles of amazing canyon roads. PCH ain't half-bad either!
This actually sounds pretty good! Throaty and muscular low down like my old Saab 9-5. Is there any active exhaust involved?
Yes, it's synthetic
It’s fake
Wow those roads are mind boggling - takes quite a bit of courage!
I think it’s the crest highway in Los Angeles, Ca
i find it hilarious that even this car would absolutely smoke a hellcat on a road like this
VTEC IS BACK LETS GOOOOOOOO!
I've been watching this mans content long enough.....SUBBED.
I bought my 2016 Honda civic for $19,500, $22,000 out the door. Best purchase of my life!
Gotta say love love the new 11th gen SI. I would drive this no problem as a daily. With the Hondata FlashPro to give this car a bit of extra juice it would be the icing on the cake :)
What would you drive on the weekends ?
@@2004cyrus hard to say. My personally can't afford much past the 30k range. Probably a roadster 2 seater car or a older/used off-road capable SUV
@@JFlogerzi sounds good to me! $30,000 is still a lot of cash! And it’s getting harder & harder to buy a new car for under $30,000 especially with the world falling apart now and dealers capitalizing on that. And it’s all unnecessary
This is making me hopeful for the Integra!
You mean, the new ILX? That thing they showed wasn't an Integra by any stretch of the imagination.
If you didn't like the type s TLX, you won't like the new integra.
@@PotatosPotatoes guess what the ilx is? A rebadged civic. And guess what old integras were? Rebadged civics.
Well, the new Integra is basically a luxury Si in case you haven’t heard.
Oh wow, the interior is actually pleasant and not dreadful like most Hondas! Good job!!
My 2014 civic si coupe has my favorite interior
As a 10th gen Si owner who wasn't in love with the styling of my car, I'm disappointed to see a 5hp drop and loss of adaptive suspension.
5 drop on paper but the dyno results show it actually making 10-15 more
Pretty sure +\- 5hp doesn't make much of a difference
Trophers laugh though🤣🤣 I'm sure that's every1s reaction banging gears through the turns. Great video brotha 💯🙌
Would absolutely love to see the GR86 now that it’s officially released
And the 86 is NA. Engine isn't quite as refined as a Honda... but the power is there. Rear wheel drive as well.
@@bbartlow0307 definitely
If Honda just made the Si hatchback, instead of the Si sedan, Sport hatchback manual, and Sport Touring hatchback manual; I bet it would sell more of the former than the latter 3 cars combined.
Absolutely Integra-ish. Great review. I can just imagine how similar Integra will be to this SI. Thank you for such a thorough review.
Reminds me of my old 89 Integra, which was a joy to drive on twisty roads. Topher came close to scaring me on that canyon road, especially where there were drop offs. 😮 Definitely looks like a great car for the next time I'm in the market. Nice review.
Never clicked so fast. Thanks Topher
What do you mean? The 9th and 10th are both great cars.
Last two Si’s were a miss for me too, this one is up there with the best of them imo!
@@TheTopher but is it worth 4k+ more than the 2019/2020? Emphatically no.
Ya the red seats are a little much what are they burgundy color? I can't tell and the red si stitching on the headrests gets lost in all the red
Finally!!! Topher reviewing new Si!!!
going to a single-mass flywheel is really good for the new gen, the responsiveness even sounds like it's there. dual-mass can be such a hog, which is why i'm changing the clutch and flywheel on my 10th gen haha
Simple and great design! It looks amazing! Great review man!
Interior looks much better!
Awesome review! Keep up the great work 👌
Việt Nam mong chờ Civic từng ngày🥰🥰
this is much better than the previous gen Si
I appreciate the fact that you tap your shoes together before you get in the car lol clean and tidy style
How would you compare the SI to the 6 speed touring hatch?
I was waiting for an Integra review, thanks!
Hey Topher which would you recommend? This SI or the GR86? They are both approximately the same price here in Canada. No family to worry about, just me.
I would go with the 86.
Honda over Subaru
GR86 if you want a real sports car, Si if you want a fun practical daily driver.
86 holds its value better and is a better driver. It’s shifter is far better and rev hang really isn’t noticeable.
33:15 test drive both, personally I won't take the boxer engine over honda reliability
I've been waiting for this video!!! Thank you Topher!
When you love driving 😊
Love the air vents in the interior, modern and classy
Who else got car sick? 🤣 Topher out here doing some touge racing 💯
I made myself a bit car sick 😂
You guys wouldn't like riding in my Elantra Sport on my local touge. lol
Wow great love the way it drives can't wait to get mine in a couple of days
bro...watching this is killing me. I called a few local dealers yesterday and they want 35k for it! and I want one bad!
Rather get a V8 challenger or mustang for that money
@@siddharthsharma8940 At 35k there are alot of other choices. Granted in this market, a car that was 35k might be 40k. Idk tho, I saw a 22 Veloster N listed for 36k...that car has 75 more HP. 35k for the Si just doesnt make sense and no one should pay that. The Si is suppose to be a sporty car that is AFFORDABLE! a 7k 'market adjustment' is just disappointing
🤣🤣
@@equi Right!? when topher said msrp I was like good luck finding one for that. I got a 2020 si new for 25k out the door. You cant find one used with 40k miles for that much now. The car market is horrible especially for new cars. The new civic hatch base is more than my si was. Even at msrp I find the SI overpriced by about 2-3 grand. I would try to wait the shortage out before buying new, these prices are a joke.
Elantra N was just announced at $32k for 6-speed manual. Assuming you can find one without a markup, way better option performance wise.
I would never be able to drive like that in mountains.
The main thing I’m disappointed about is not having dual climate. It also would have been nice to keep heated seats and steering wheel
Come to Canada, the new SI has both and a full digital gauges display for our version. I don't know why they took them away for the US version though, unless if it is just for the southern states.
@@danebezemer6336 I also hear the Canadian version is cheaper than the US spec car
Just have your passenger open a window like the generations of the past had to do
$27K? LOL Not in NY. more like $37K-$39K. A local dealer wanted $39,999.
Wow..
ok so someone will have to correct me if I'm wrong but I got this indirectly from a dealer who dove into the new Si's parts list and, according to him, it does not have a carry-over engine from the previous Si, but actually has the same engine as their regular 1.5T Civic, albeit tuned separately :
10th gen Civic Si had a larger turbocharger than the Civic Sport and boosted 20.3 psi.
@@alexp6409good to know thanks for coming back and telling us as I was curious as well! I have a Blue one myself with the Yofer body kit!!
Great review/ drive. Love hearing your thoughts on these cars. Keep up the good work bud.
So hondata just dropped a Dyno video and it seems Honda underrated the the Hp and torque. It's makes 222 hp so I guess they did it to make room for the Integra.
TO THE WHEELS
Glad that I brought the 10 gen si, really glad
Sorry, rant over
The Si hasn't been a hatchback in the North American market for a dog's age! The Type-R (if it comes) will use the 4-door hatchback platform.
Was the WRX like a downgrade to you coming from an Si?
Who else was annoyed with the backpack placement 🤣

More annoying is missing spare 😀
Even though I am obsessed with the 80s - early 20s Hondas, I have to admit that this one really looks fun to drive. Loved the sound. Thank you for your efforts :)
