The two toughest divisions of the Miami Dade prison complex couldn't be more different. The Miami Dade Boot Camp gives minor offenders a chance to escape the prison through rigorous and unforgiving drills and rules. To many it is a better alternative to rusty iron bars of The Miami-Dade County Jail where murderers, rapists and robbers have their own rules of survival.
The series accompanies guards on their daily routines: those who struggle to maintain law and order and those who abuse their powers mercilessly. But above all, each episode allows the viewer to see the world from the prisoner’s point of view: the newcomer spending his first terrifying night locked up. Felons who live for the day when their fate will be decided: will it be life behind bars? A worse fate? Foreigners, far away from home, languishing away under the most horrendous conditions. And mothers who have to raise their children in the shadow of prison bars.

I got sentenced to 2.5 years in juvie prison when I was just shy of 16. I was offered the opportunity to do a 4 month bootcamp program to knock off 6 months of my time. We started with 75 cadets and 15 of graduated, I happened to get stuck going during the end of fall in northern Wisconsin. After 2 months we were hiking for a week at a time in the dead of winter, our drill sergeant were former seals, rangers, and Marines. When we graduated we were told that we could get thru any of the special forces bootcamps. I actually tried to enlist when I got out, but I wasn't allowed due to gang tattoos and not having a driver's liscence. The whole experience did make me into a man and I learned a lot of survival skills. 19 years later and I now own my own business and haven't been in serious trouble since...

I taught ESL at a correctional facility in Massachusetts for a year, started there as a college intern, the inmates I encountered treated me with utmost respect, I never once felt uncomfortable or threatened.
I've heard inmates tend to be on their best behaviour around teachers because they don't want the opportunity to learn taken away.
My best friend went to boot camp around 30 years ago, he got very lucky as he was facing serious federal charges for selling LSD to an undercover , lots of it. The boot camp was in Pennsylvania and it actually did him good to go there. He came out of there a better person than he went in.

We need to do better in our country and I admire the dedicated men and women who truly want to turn these youths around and get them onto the right path.
My son is 2 months old. I hope that that boy got out of boot camp and turned it around so he could be present as a father. I was locked up previous to this but I was lucky enough to get out before he was born. Being a father is one of the greatest joys you can have as a man, I hope that everyone who deserves it gets to experience it.

Thank you for your service, sir! I appreciate how hard you must have worked to turn your life around. May God continue to bless you and yours as you love and serve Him.
Psychological torture and keeping a person in a perpetual stress state are not going to yield good results. They’re causing further damage to damaged people. I also have concerns about the effect on the guards. They’re literally barking like dogs. That affects a person’s personality, relationships, and health over time.

When I was 15 years old I committed some horrific crimes (shootings, aggravated assaults, etc.). When I was caught the judge gave me an opportunity to either go through Boot Camp or straight to prison as an adult, I chose Boot Camp. After leaving Boot Camp I went back to school and received my high school diploma, a scholarship to college and now I own a successful electrical engineering firm. Since that time, I’ve never been in trouble however I do give back to the community and I never forgot the 18 months I spent in Boot Camp. I’m now in my mid 50’s and have never seen the inside of a prison. I hope many of those young boys get out and become productive members of society. I’m an example and product of what can be developed if given a second chance.

Have faith in JESUS CHRIST as LORD and SAVIOR for HE SAVES from hell❗️
*What is the Gospel?*
The true gospel is the good news that God saves sinners. Man is by nature sinful and separated from God with no hope of remedying that situation. But God, by His power, provided the means of man’s redemption in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior, Jesus Christ.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of GOD, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
Romans 10:9

@@RemixedVoice Dam my parents whooped my ass and it hasn't changed my attitude for long but I love them a lot so we all got different views. Yours is fuck them, the guy above was happy he had violence ensured and im just so/so except I never would say fuck my parents cause they love me im just hard headed for no reason.. and idk why but can't help it :/
@@RemixedVoice see for yourself when you're have a son, they Will do the same to you
Lmao. Lots of people who end up in jail got whoopings as kids. You can't dispute the fact that beatings are detrimental to a child's mental health. And when a parent hits their child, the child is likely to grow up thinking that's the way to solve problems and express themselves. If you need to resort to violence in order to raise a child, you're obviously not fit to be a parent.
"Some in here who didnt do it" .... Sends chills down my back. Inocent people in jail, jesus that is horrible.
american justice,,, got money or get scooped up by the beast system,,,poverty sucks,,,god help the innocent !
They just need a person to charge for the crime they don't care if u innocent or not. If they can charge u they will to make themselves look good
happens all the time
You should be. If you're poor. You'll do the time for the rich man who actually committed the crime. .. I wonder why police suicide is a national epidemic??? Hmmmm it doesn't the a rocket scientist to figure out these lowlifes are extremely guilty for the crimes they committed
I agree. Prisoners have an understandably bad stigma, but the truth about our system of justice is that while more people in jail/prison are (hopefully) guilty than not guilty, a substantial percentage of them are likely innocent. 97% of all convictions are as a result of a plea deal. Due to mandatory minimum sentences, going to trial is often wayyy too risky to even consider. Even if you were absolutely positively falsely accused of a crime, and if found guilty of that crime, the mandatory minimum is 25 years, and the district attorney, knowing there is very little evidence in his/her favor, offers you a plea of 6 months, would you go to trial? I know personally I wouldn't leave 25 years of freedom up to 12 strangers too stupid to get out of jury duty... It's too unpredictable. Take the deal, do your time, and hopefully get your life back together when it's done. Happens every day.
Given the chance to stroll in Miami. I'm glad to know not to mess around or else y'all experience once-in-a-lifetime hell

looks like an excellent opportunity and a good place to live and workout. lots of positive encouragement and intensity in physical training which you get judged for being intense in your average local gym. these offenders should feel grateful to be a part of such a great facility

My cousin went through boot camp for his first offense. His second he went to prison and there totally different. I wish he would've got his shit together after boot camp. I hope he does better when he gets out in January
@@lourdest.8431 not true I was released from prison after doing 25 months and found a full time contractor job within 8 days of my release... looking for opportunities and being relentless is the key to success
@@lourdest.8431 It's more about your character than you minor criminal offenses. Plenty of ex cons find jobs and stay on the right path, the others that complain nobody will hire them are the ones that still hang with the same bad crowd and expect opportunities to come to them.
Leslie Woods he’ll be back in jail before ya know it. They never learn
I would be willing to help him put a resume together and help him with a customized job search once he’s out and settled! No charge! Comment to this and I’ll try and figure out a way to get you my email without posting it publicly. We as a society have a duty to continue the process of rehabilitation. Shame on these people who assume. Yes, it may be a statistic, but give a person a chance and let them determine their future. Good vibes only.
Ms. Woods, just continue to be there for him and not give up on him.It took me a while too, but thankfully there were a few who did not give up on me, and now I have two college degrees now, and on my way to my Master's Degree. Please don't give up on him.
Some times i watch these just to remind myself what a beast i once was.
Parris Island style treatment vs getting a long sentence?
Seems like an effective modern version of the 60s Military vs Jail ultimatum.
