Great right on target review! I absolutely love this camera (have an M240 and M246 Monochrom) and could not agree more with that's said in this video. This camera is better is almost every way than the M10 and not too far from the M11 either for a killer street price these days. As a tool that can perform magic, and will even years from now, the real limiting factor is the photographer and knowledge of the tool.
I did real estate photography for 15 years and fashion for a few years prior mainly film (Leica, Pentax 67, Sinar) then with Canon 1ds and 5d’s. I now sell real estate and hire out for my listings, I just sold all my canon and get a mp-240 and a 28 & 50 Cron. It’s such an amazing camera for everything that it doesn’t do like complicate photography and the sensor/lens combo is amazing!
@@UlyssesGrantParm oh I shot fashion with my Pentax and M4.2, real estate was with the 1ds and 5d’s. We rode the wave of digital cameras from 2.5 mega pixel Nikon D1 with crappy color up!
Haha-understood. I was imagining some enormous medium format exteriors! Certainly there are times when I’m shooting real estate that I would prefer a different aspect ratio than 3:2!
It's getting a bit tricky when using older vintage LTM screw-mount lenses (or any other kind of manual focus lens) with adapter: you need to have the camera menu set to automatic lens recognition. After you attached the LTM/M adapter, the correct pair of frame lines will be displayed. In case you need to change the LTM/M adapter with a different pair of frame lines, you need to turn the camera off first - otherwise the camera remembers the former setting and doesn't change the frame lines! After you exchanged the adapter, turn on the camera again, and the different frame lines according to the used adapter will be displayed.
I have the M240 and like your video, but not able to figure out how you can set a minimum shutter speed of 125 and still have the shutter speed in Auto?? Thx for any insight.
Hey, Lars! I haven't watched this video in a bit, but I wonder if I was using auto iso and I set the minimum shutter speed (in the auto ISO menu) at 1/125. That way with the camera set to auto shutter, it will bump the iso before lowering the shutter speed below 1/125.
@@UlyssesGrantParm makes sense, in other words shutter speeds will be manually set to 125. Kind of curios since there is no way to set minimum shutter speed and still be in automatic mode. Thx
I own an M Typ 262, which is mostly an M without LV/EVF and a different sensor. Mine froze a bit when I got it, even with a full battery. I did some research and got confirmation at a Leica Store that it is a well known bug that is happening due to the combinaison of High ISO and continuous shooting. Leica was aware about it but clearly stated that they were not going to correct it.
Would you recommend to get an M 262 over the M 240 or M 9 if they are equal on price? Or should i spend more to get an M10. Pretty indecisive at the moment
@@allena3430 I would say that I’m not buying a Leica for video purposes so I preferred the M Typ 262 over the 240. One thing to keep in mind is that you can’t connect EVF on the typ 262 so no Focus peaking... which could be useful for lenses over 50mm. Got a 90mm summicron and it is challenging at f2 for portrait. M9 must be in perfect condition and you should ask for a proof of sensor replacement because Leica no longer repair it. As for the M10, sensor wise it is very similar to the M typ 262. It is as a useful ISO dial, less button on the back, better screen and as a slimmer body which mean smaller battery, thus need to be charged more often.

Thank you kindly. That’s so cool that you have the monochrome too!

Great point about the simple and straightforward style of the m system. What was it like shooting real estate with the Pentax 67?

Ah, thank you for the insight, Martin. I'll take a closer look at those settings!
Love my m240p.
Right on! What lenses are at the top of your list these days?

There is a setting in your camera for your summitar I own one to and works fine on my m240
Thanks for the tip. I’ll check it out!
Definitely. And 2021.
Contents are nteresting but 480p is way too low on TV

I still much prefer the colours and simplicity of my M8... But good video
Thanks, Simon. I really like the M8 colors and vibe, too!
