Watched Utd vs Wimbledon at Selhurst in the treble season. W'don started knocking it round the back four and Keano suddenly legged it from inside his own half on the right touchline, 70 yards to the W'don right back, who'd just got the ball, and with a firm, fair sliding tackle, kicked it into touch. Just the message that sent out - "you may not be putting us under pressure right now, but we'll always be pressuring you" was very impressive to me. A great pro, and terrific player.
People forget what a quality powerhouse player he was and how he led Man Utd through there most successful time and just see him as a hard man! He was a great player!
My next door neighbour who has got a Season Ticket at Ipswich Town where we have got Keane as our current manager, attended a barbacue event for season ticket holders, which Keane attended, a bit late and my next door neighbour shook hands with him and had a chat with him and said that Keane is an utter gentleman and not like the image that has been created in the media. He just strikes me as a very passionate and strong confident leader and has given my team alot of steel which we needed.
Fantastic player and character in football, Keano was. That weakness he mentioned deserved a round of applause, you can tell it was hard for him to admit weakness. But even with his weakness for impatience I'd of said it was more of a strength. His fire on the pitch was what made him great and what makes him great now.
I'm a Spurs fan and I believe Roy was too, he almost signed for us but at the time, Utd or Spurs was a no brainer, he made the right choice. The guy's a legend
the mans a legend, almost single handlely beating juventus, knowing he would'nt be playing in the 99' champions league final.....Roy was the man,ROY is the man!!!!!
i agree a honest bloke im a lfc fan from cork and im delighted 4 roy and what he has done fair play he is a winner and pitty he,s not playing anymore cause alway great to watch all d best in the future to
Love him Like him or hate him his professionalism, will to win and refusal to settle for 2nd best is admirable and unquestionable. Saipan he was right, how cud anyone wit a brain accuse probably our best ever player of faking injury and being unprofessional
I love this man. He is our greatest sporting treasure. I think siapan was partly his fault but he is tough honest different but he always gives 100% and im proud hes a Corkman
5:03 .. he's right. Ireland is still moaning about being fucked out at man city and not having an Ireland career that someone else was to blame. Fact is, he thought he was better than he was and his careers passed him by. When he looks back, he will say he had 2 good seasons with man city
7 years later he helps bring Ireland to the round of 16 in euro 2016. Then 2 years after the euros Ireland lose 5-1 to Denmark in a World Cup play off then falls out with some of the players
They mention talent, maybe marginally lacking with Keane, ppl just don't get how effective he was, particularly on the ball and the speed at which he found his teammates in good positions, a trait which eludes at least 95% of players. And, And could score from 18 yards and defend with the best of them. one of my favourite players, alongwith the likes of Zidane, though should have done time for ABH on Haaland.
He got Sunderland promoted his first season and did well in the Premiership in his second season. I hardly think he can do that with players that don't want to play for him.
Not enough of these blokes playing now right up there as a great the Juventus game he got Man It's to the final put his neck on the line for his team knowing he would miss the final a true great in every way wish he had played and managed my hometown club Middlesbrough he would of had god like status of the Boro hordes no problem
royston maurice keane, the man was born with steele in his eyes, his stare cuts right through ya, 7 premierships, 3 fa cups, 1 champions league, roys record speaks for its self, you gotta admire keanes balls whether u like him or not, never afraid to speak his mind, the guy just draws ya to him, such a complex character, has there ever been a more intriging character in irish history, rock on roy, up the rebels!
@blurface30 That's the thing I admire in him. Just how many players would turn down the opportunity to play in the biggest sporting tournament in the world? Stephen Ireland?! He is undoubtedly a very complex character & I still can't make up my mind about him. I greatly admire his strength of character & he comes across as very charming in this interview but then supposedly a lot of psychopaths are! Still, I can never forget THAT tackle & his apparent lack of remorse. Looks like Richard Harris.
#AsanIrish man Living and W in London(UK)4some20+years,I have to sayI've always had admiration&respect4thisMan,&particularly having read hisBook,He is an achiever through effort hard work and determination, the patience thing i2have a problem with,it's a munster thing 10,987654,3,2,1Breath! His style is outdated. Great player but never be a manager,. Love his passion. We irish need to get a grip. Declan rice is a perfect example. Let's get the lads that want to play for us.
Walked out on Ireland, Walked out on Sunderland, Said Mick Mcarthy was lying, said Alex Ferguson was Lying, Refused to play for Jack Charlton's Ireland under 23 team
fincaman2 Get your facts straight. Roy Keane was sent home from the Ireland squad, he did not walk away. That shit was peddled by the Irish FA whilst Keane kept his own counsel during the whole affair. Its not even a debate, it's a fact.
He is a diamond of a bloke, wears his heart in his sleeve
How more people have not realised that is beyond me.
2 years later, best leader we’ve ever had,,, legend xx
What a fucking player he was and same with his character, I love how he just says it how it is
I’m English, and I would go to battle against us, coz he’s my leader ❤❤ best captain man United ever had and will ever have
Keane comes across so well in this interview
Watched Utd vs Wimbledon at Selhurst in the treble season. People forget what a quality powerhouse player he was and how he led Man Utd through there most successful time and just see him as a hard man! He was a great player!

2022 Roy is still a winner 🏆
Love him Like him or hate him his professionalism, will to win and refusal to settle for 2nd best is admirable and unquestionable. Saipan he was right, how cud anyone wit a brain accuse probably our best ever player of faking injury and being unprofessional

Every club needs a Keane. No prisoners. Wish Spurs had him as a player. I think the world of him and his views

5:03 .. he's right. Ireland is still moaning about being fucked out at man city and not having an Ireland career that someone else was to blame. Fact is, he thought he was better than he was and his careers passed him by. When he looks back, he will say he had 2 good seasons with man city

The Enforcer at United a true legend.

Walked out on United
Let go by Sunderland & Ipswich

Read his book, THE SECOND HALF, and then you might have a different point of view.
I'd like Keane beside me rather then against me
you should CEASE following the Irish team now. No loss to us, we prefer real Irish fans, and Keane was Ireland's best ever player
3 people are Patrick Viera
His wife must be an angel.
For all we know, he might be very open and much more relaxed around his wife!
royston maurice keane, the man was born with steele in his eyes, his stare cuts right through ya, 7 premierships, 3 fa cups, 1 champions league, roys record speaks for its self, you gotta admire keanes balls whether u like him or not, never afraid to speak his mind, the guy just draws ya to him, such a complex character, has there ever been a more intriging character in irish history, rock on roy, up the rebels!

What a feckin legend, Say what ya like, only if you mean it it.
I would love it if he was Fergies replacement
@8:19 the dogs are like: "Wait. . . what? . . Is he done talking?"
👑👑👑👑
Playing soccer was the only thing i did that was positive in a youth full of negativity,
i played with dennis, he was brilliant
He should be manager of Republic Of Ireland
Ooopss
The only people who dont like him are those who dont like hearing the truth. Theyd rather have everything sugarcoated for them rather than facts.
Sorry Tinkerin0 I often find that the lines, "You won't believe it, honestly and trust me" have a lot in common...
he,s a very shy guy
@blurface30 That's the thing I admire in him. Just how many players would turn down the opportunity to play in the biggest sporting tournament in the world? Stephen Ireland?! That makes you half Irish. If you want, you can be classed as Irish. It's up to you.
Shitehawk he had united before ireland
Watch any match in the 2002 WC qualifiers and say that again
maybe Keane should donate one of those guide dogs for the blind to Arsene Wenger....
how did he do with ipswich?
@irishdan2007 seasons 46 games, not 23 silly
i think pat kenny is mimicking oliver callan
