It also struck me as jarring that when Wild started, *none* of the Zoids were equipped with *any* ranged weapons, and the weapons they were equipped with seemed to be designed for style rather than function, which also irked me.
Yeah I recall that in Wild Zero at least there was some mass portal or something bringing a flood of Zoids from Zi to earth but idk man I never got far enough into the series to understand either. I reckon it’d be possible to somehow make a loose connection to the original Zoids series with that in mind, but I just don’t know (or really care 😅) enough about Wild to finish it and dig deep enough to make that theory haha
@@Viseak It's kinda explained in the first couple episodes, Humans migrated to Planet Zi after screwing up earth in 21st century then war, more screwing up etc happens on Zi so they decide to migrate back to earth to restore the planet for rehabitation using Zi tech (this is where I think Zi continues onto the Chaotic Century storyline and Zero diverges to its storyline), during the trip empire people try to sabotage it so they can take over earth when they get there and a couple ships end up going through a wormhole. This is where problems start as the one carrying zoids and the planet restoring devices comes out in the past and crashes into earth in "modern day earth" as in our time 2000's and causing an extinction level event, 100+ years later the Wild Zero series starts where the other ship carrying the scientist and his daughter, etc arrive at the planet and where MC meets her getting chased by empire soldiers, thus begins their task to find the restoration devices and activate them
Nothing beats the first Zoids. Chaotic Century is what got me into collecting Zoid figures my favorite is Saber Fang. WIll never forget watching this at night when it was aired at Cartoon Network
Zoids Genesis and Zoids Zero New Century are my favorites. I agree that Fuzors always feel _different_ while Zoids Wild is almost like trying combined Chaotic Century and Genesis but do it half-heartedly
Chaotic century has always been my favourite. The character development was so good. The zoid designs is simple but had more realism in them as compared to the other zoid series
agreed, a lot of franchises add too much to later designs, like comparing 1st gen pokemon vs the new ones. Chaotic century is also the best because it actually takes place in a war where the fights have real consequences, I've never liked tournament arcs in anime, so the downside of new century is that it is basically a giant tournament arc
Another link between Chaotic Century/Guardian Force and New Century Zero is that when you see the Liger Zero's Zoid Core, you can clearly see an Organoid fused with it, an organoid that looks just a bit familiar if you saw CC/GF first. (I didn't, so it didn't click until way later.)
I will never forget getting Zoids Battle Legends on the Game Cube after being in love with Zoids and playing it non stop. Loved New Century, really enjoyed Chaotic Century, but Battle Legends, that game was the tits, easily my most played games of those years. Who wouldn't want to be able to hop in a Geno Breaker and then switch to one of the many forms of Liger Zero!
you are a true inspiration. you never fail to amaze me with these types of videos. I personally want to make a video myself of zoids who would win a fight? like Liger Zero X vs Energy Liger. I'm really curious about what zoids are stronger than the others or what will be the outcome of different obscure zoids on what-if battle scenarios. I just don't know how I would sneak this into my schedule lol.
Cheers man I really appreciate the kind words! All I can say is go for it! I can’t see myself making those kinda videos and there’s definitely a viewership for them out there Life definitely gets in the way though, I’m lucky I don’t have kids yet but full time work, maintaining a home and relationships all get pretty overwhelming, but if you want to do it and make it work I’m sure you can! I even edit on my lunch breaks cause it’s some of the only free time I get these days 😅
I found it funny how you described how they practically nerfed the zoids from the nuclear weapons they were in the Chaotic Century and New Century to flashbangs in Fuzors 😆 but screwed around and somehow caused a nuclear armageddon resetting civilization into Genesis
In regards to the Zoids Wild series, it shouldn't be connected to the older titles *at all.* What ended up happening is that Zoids: Genesis was a massive failure both in television ratings and toy sales. It failed so badly that the Zoids franchise fell into hibernation for over a decade years until TOMY brought it back with Zoids Wild in an attempt to revive the series.
Just found your channel and love that there's content about Zoids that exists. I know very few people who also watched it lol. It was my favorite as a kid growing up! I always found a connection with I guess liking mechanical/mecha things too because I enjoy working on cars too and always loved Zoids, Gundam, Initial D, and the only newer mecha anime I like is 86 Eighty Six (seriously check it out if you haven't yet. Such a good anime!). Going to check out your other content and hopefully also find somewhere that I can rewatch CC & GF. They were my favorites with NC following up. I remember when Zoids Fuzors came out and it was so awful. I also tried Genesis but couldn't keep my interest and gave up after a couple of episodes. The OG's will always be OG.
Yeah CC and NCZ definitely captured lightning in a bottle, and even if we won’t get anything like em again, at least they still exist haha I’ll have to check out 86, it’s been on my to watch/read list for quite a while! And yeah I’ve done videos on all that haha, Gundam, Initial D, and Zoids, mecha fans definitely have a lot of interest overlaps hahahaha
Great video especially since Zoids is a series I watched growing up. Oddly I was introduced to the series with New Century and my dumb kid brain thought it was the first in the series maybe it was because Cartoon Network played New century episode’s first and followed them with Chaotic century
Brother you should have WAY more subs. Your vids are super well done and your commentary is friendly and engaging. Definitely got one more in me. Thanks for covering this often overlooked masterpiece of a series. Keep Zoids alive!!!
Zoids Genesis, both the anime and the game, was my introduction to the Zoids franchise so those two are very close to my heart. To this day, I still remember finishing the GBA game that doesn't have any English translation without knowing any Japanese at all when I was a kid. As for my second favorite, it's gotta be New Century since Bit was the 2nd protagonist that was introduced to me in the Zoids Genesis game and I really liked Liger Zero, especially Zero Panzer CAU in the game. It honestly would have been interesting if they animated that GBA game instead of Fuzors, given how it connected both Chaotic Century and New Century + another timeline from another Zoids game which if I remember correctly was the main focus of an NDS game. It would have been a more interesting watch instead of whatever Fuzors and Wilds is.
I came to this video after finishing wild zero which was great. I gave up on Wild a few episodes in but Wild Zero was basically a spiritual successor to Chaotic Century and definitely one of my new favorites. Although it's worth mentioning Wild Zero had time travel/time loopey shenanigans that can make it both a Prequel and Sequel to Chaotic Century/New Century/Fuzors/Genesis.
Great video! Zoids wild zero is a hard one to talk about for a lot of reasons, though the biggest one being that the english dub is amazingly somehow lost media. Like the only dubbed episodes I could find went to episode 22 and the other 28 episodes are nowhere to be found. And the fan sub also stopped after 10 episodes or so, which means the show couldn't really hold their attention either, lol.
I always assumed GF took place 5 years later. Explains Van's growth spurt and military training. (I doubt 2 years is enough time to become an elite soldier pulling shit we see him do.) Now, I will say, I love how most of your video lines up with what I said on a Zoids role-play forum I am/was an admin on (player to mod/Team Leader to admin team). It was set a few decades after New Century and eventually became an Alternate Timeline (largely due to another of the admin's attempt at a story event that... went sideways due to drama). After Era was a fun time though... shame real life pulled all of us away. I miss Team Fury. One thing you skipped is that in the manga of CC/GF how the Blade Liger evolved once more into a Liger Zero and Zeke bound to it, same with the Genobreaker into Berserk Fury (with Shadow bound). We see this in NC with the "Ultimate X" Zoid cores.
Whenever I think about Zoids, it feels like it happened 10 years ago but in reality, it's already 25 years since void century and the toy line even older, being 42 years since its first release. I still have with me my Molga AA and ZED01 Gojulas.
Toros reminds me of myself back in high school, Building models fawning over and smuggling them to school in my backpack to show off to a friend who did the same. Those were good times.
Took a while for me to get into Fuzors, It was off on a rough start when it replaced new century in the toonami lineup, in the end Gummie was my favorite character, and the Gojulas Giga and Energy Liger were my favorite zoids aside from Liger Zero.
Zoids Genesis was terrific all around except for the lack of cool Zoid designs for the villains. Like seriously the villains re-used the same 2 Zoids throughout like 80% of the series until they introduced Bio Volcano and Bio Tyranno towards the end of the series. I get that based on the timeline, there were only a few zoids left in the world of genesis but the heroes still had their fair share of cool new zoid designs.
I miss my childhood days when my family would just assemble countless zoids. The biggest zoid we ever got was the Deathsaurer, we wanted the Ultrasaurus but at the time it was just so darn expensive even by pre-inflation standards.
Actually, if you look at the battle story from the boxes of the toy lines and compare to all of the other material I believe that’s the inspiration for all of the other stories. It can even be used as a roadmap for connecting the various anime together.
From what I see in Zoids wild/zero it seems to be a prequel to Zoids chaotic century. I know it seems quite far from it but some proof is there. Zoids are "wild" in some Zoid games or written material it shows people using Zoids like they originally did at the begining of time. They capture/use Zoids to help them in every day task like hunting and gathering. Zoids wild has alot of connecting dots to zoidians. Zoidians seems to be a stretch but what if it was changed to be a faction or clan instead of a race. Besides that wild Zoids seem to be getting more domesticated as the series goes on. Eventually leading to how they look like in chaotic century. The advance technology in Zoids wild/zero like mini gravity bullets and how the Zoids are size wise shows me they won't take long to get to the current version/look of chaotic century, most of the knowledge of it will be lost in time untill it is reinvented or discover in chaotic century by doctor D. A clan/faction will soon form with political and power which would lead the the creation of Zoid eve. The controller of all Zoids which every Zoid can be traced back to, and the fall of the zoidians the "death saurer" I kinda hope this is the path that is taken as it would really connect so much and show some connection to it old Zoid animes instead of revamping the whole series. Who knows
Great job, you've gained a fan. Was re watching all the zoids series for fun and saw your video after. I'm not a fan of "fuzors" but I think they tried to show it was linked to "new century" in the episode they "Made" liger zero a fuzor by installing a program into it they even show pictures of Jager and Schneider. In the episode and said it's an armor change feature installed in liger before and we know who messed with liger "because if would look cool".
Ha thanks man! There was that little callback in Fuzors referencing the CAS system too. It’s a shame it was the weakest entry in the series, it did have a little potential there but man, it was executed so poorly
I was told Wild was humans returning to Earth with Zoids tech that "evolved" in a new environment . Wild is bad, but Wild Zero isn't bad. Xeno Rex is chef's kiss!
I want to make a comment about Fuzors. Anyone remember the episode, I think it was either 5 or 6, where the mechanic that RD picked up was able to look over the Liger Zero. He mentioned the Change Armor System and on the terminal screen, you saw the Jager, Schneider and Panzer units. Before I knew Fuzors followed the Battle Story, I thought it was canonical to New Century Zero just from that.
they needed to put more violence in the anime. that kid befriending liger in zoids wilds is hella impactful cuz LIGER BIT HIS ARM and he didnt even flinch
I wish Zoids had a bigger presence in America, the way other big fighting robot series like Gundam, or Transformers is. Japan kept all of the cooler Zoids stuff in Japan. I don't even think they did an english dub for Zoids Genesis. The US only got Chaotic Century/Guardian Force, New Century Zero, and Fuzors for a second before they pulled it off air. I don't think Zoids Wild helped them break back in either. That show is waaaay to tailored towards kids, and I not a fan of you basically riding Zoids like horses, instead of way it's always been, where Zoids are way bigger and you sit inside them. I also thought moving the story to earth was a strange move, especially considering a main plot point of Zoids lore is that earth is supposedly destroyed, and humans had to flee, and eventually ended up on Zi. So them suddenly being like *"Zoids on earth!"* was strange to me. I'll always love Zoids, and hope they realize there's still love for the franchise, enough to put out more captivating stuff.
Yeah, I get what you mean. I think the words you were looking for when describing your suspension of disbelief was “real robot”. I know Zoids isn’t exactly like that with the whole “living machines” thing, but there was a lot of “real robot” elements incorporated into the setting, especially in CC and GF.
32:05 No dude, saying "Driving a manual car is the closest thing we'll ever get to piloting a mech" is not cringe in the slightest. Thats an absolute perfect statement right there (Of course, as an owner of an NA Miata and a 68 Bug, this opinion IS pretty biased XD)
The only reason I remember Fuzors was because my brother had a Liger Zero model, and I was able to get a Fire Phoenix. We could never find any of the New Century armors so being able to have more than a vanilla Liger Zero was super cool for us
I loved Chaotic Century and Guardian Force. It's the only Zoids series I got into, and can watch over and over again. The anime style, the characters, the story/plot and the Zoids themselves were all perfect. I was always intrigued by the backstory of ZoidEve and the Ancient Zoidians. I'd have loved a prequel series focussed on Fiona and Zeke, how and why they ended up in those pods with all the old, ruined Zoids around them, and how they originally managed to defeat the DeathSaurer.
Cheers man! They’re re-airing Chaotic Century on Japanese TV as we speak AND just announced the whole series will be available on RUclips for free for the 40th anniversary which is awesome! It’ll be the first legal way to stream Chaotic Century since it released over 20 years ago

Thank you very much for this content, it makes me really happy to know that people likes Zoids as much as I do, great explanation!
Man, the nostalgia is real. I absolutely loved Zoids New Century Zero.
Loved New Century.
I'm mad that the ChaoticCentury didn't have a 3rd installment. We would've gotten a Yellow and Green Organoids
Viseak back with the Zoids vids, and with the fresh cut 🆙
You know it 🫶🏼
I will never forget getting Zoids Battle Legends on the Game Cube after being in love with Zoids and playing it non stop. Loved New Century, really enjoyed Chaotic Century, but Battle Legends, that game was the tits, easily my most played games of those years. Who wouldn't want to be able to hop in a Geno Breaker and then switch to one of the many forms of Liger Zero!
Got yourself a fan here good content man.
This series needs to make a comeback
Thanks for all the work and love Zoids have since I first seen Bit pilot the Liger 0-1 back in 2005.
you are a true inspiration. you never fail to amaze me with these types of videos.
I can’t see myself making those kinda videos and there’s definitely a viewership for them out there
Life definitely gets in the way though, I’m lucky I don’t have kids yet but full time work, maintaining a home and relationships all get pretty overwhelming, but if you want to do it and make it work I’m sure you can!
I even edit on my lunch breaks cause it’s some of the only free time I get these days 😅
"A 'mostly' headcanon video" 😂
Congrats on 4 years!
Thanks for the support over the years!
Still crazy to think I’ve been making these silly internet videos for that long lmao
Sick video brosef mcgosef, love 2 c it. I gotta download and rewatch this now, 20 years later.
I loved this video. It really brought back the memories of the old series without me having to watch the BS. XD
Yeah CC and NCZ definitely captured lightning in a bottle, and even if we won’t get anything like em again, at least they still exist haha
I’ll have to check out 86, it’s been on my to watch/read list for quite a while!
And yeah I’ve done videos on all that haha, Gundam, Initial D, and Zoids, mecha fans definitely have a lot of interest overlaps hahahaha
One of my all time favs
Zoids, Pokemon, crush gear, yugioh and beyblade. My childhood is complete because of these shows!
Really loved the Grumblemon evolution line, I’d definitely use Gotsumon as the rookie to finish off with Blastmon as the mega. Awesome job as always
Although it's worth mentioning Wild Zero had time travel/time loopey shenanigans that can make it both a Prequel and Sequel to Chaotic Century/New Century/Fuzors/Genesis.
thanks for the video man. LOVE Zoids. I have the DVDs so i think i might rewatch
These were genuinely the coolest action figures you could get as a kid
Liger zero has to be my all time favourite
chaotic and new century will always have a soft spot in my heart they are just treasures. the english dubs that is lol.
In New Century you also see what looks like Moon Bays truck train thing parked somewhere in a random episode
The theme song for New Century lives rent free in my head at all times.😂
I forgot about the 3rd anime lmao, so you're spot on with the 3 fans.
Bro I used to play zoids battle legends constantly this was a banger video man
Oh man, a blast from the past. Used to have a gun sniper kit back in the early 2000s
Can you do a top 10 strongest zoids video? I loved the shows as a kid
Never in my life did I need something but not know until I saw on yt.
That’s what I’m here for 🫡
Thanks for the video mate. I like your summary of Zoids Timeline.
For this video alone, I subscribed.
I always assumed GF took place 5 years later. Explains Van's growth spurt and military training. (I doubt 2 years is enough time to become an elite soldier pulling shit we see him do.)
Now, I will say, I love how most of your video lines up with what I said on a Zoids role-play forum I am/was an admin on (player to mod/Team Leader to admin team).
Pretty awesome vid. Can't wait for iceberg
I completely forgot about fuzors until you mentioned it. Everything stated was correct on that show. Wow.
New Century was the best. The animation and action were fantastic. I love the scenes where Liger switches armor.
The controller of all Zoids which every Zoid can be traced back to, and the fall of the zoidians the "death saurer"
I kinda hope this is the path that is taken as it would really connect so much and show some connection to it old Zoid animes instead of revamping the whole series.
I seriously wish these shows were available on blu-ray... love to own chaotic century, new century, and genesis.
I just remember Leena's gun sniper got me into barrage attacks! From Pokemon to mages and video games
One of my favorite anime series growing up and if zoids were real I can imagine piloting the dark spiner.
zoids was such a good universe, ithink the order is chaotic century, new century, fuzors, zoids wild
they needed to put more violence in the anime. that kid befriending liger in zoids wilds is hella impactful cuz LIGER BIT HIS ARM and he didnt even flinch
Wish we got a 2 season with new century zero and see what S class is all about
I loved this series as a kid and I'm jelly you have the DvD. Take my sub
I'll always love Zoids, and hope they realize there's still love for the franchise, enough to put out more captivating stuff.
in one of the later episodes of new century for a brief second you can see a red gustav with one white panel as another chaotic easter egg
I only saw Zoid model kits on Instagram since now. Thanks for the video.
I never cared for new century but, Choatic century and its follow up were something my father and I looked forward to every morning in my childhood!
Thats an absolute perfect statement right there
(Of course, as an owner of an NA Miata and a 68 Bug, this opinion IS pretty biased XD)
I used to have so many of the model kits, its crazy how expensive they are now.
The only reason I remember Fuzors was because my brother had a Liger Zero model, and I was able to get a Fire Phoenix. We could never find any of the New Century armors so being able to have more than a vanilla Liger Zero was super cool for us
Where could we rewatch zoids?
I loved Chaotic Century and Guardian Force.
It's the only Zoids series I got into, and can watch over and over again.
The anime style, the characters, the story/plot and the Zoids themselves were all perfect.
I was always intrigued by the backstory of ZoidEve and the Ancient Zoidians.
I'd have loved a prequel series focussed on Fiona and Zeke, how and why they ended up in those pods with all the old, ruined Zoids around them, and how they originally managed to defeat the DeathSaurer.
I believe Zoids announced an anniversary series as well. I enjoyed this video as well.
Cheers man!
They’re re-airing Chaotic Century on Japanese TV as we speak AND just announced the whole series will be available on RUclips for free for the 40th anniversary which is awesome!
It’ll be the first legal way to stream Chaotic Century since it released over 20 years ago
@@Viseak WHAT FORREAL??
Omg! Will the japanese versions be available too? I wanna watch CC/GFs original
@@Catenfur I think it’s just the Japanese version that’ll be available, but we’ll soon see
The first episode is releasing on Takara Tomy’s YT channel today (unfortunately instead of releasing it all in one go, they’re releasing 1 episode a week as if it’s a brand new anime 😭)
@@Viseak Boooo the slow release. xD But so excited!
I love Zoid Wild. I love the fantasy aspect of the series.
I absolutely loved Zoie’s. Chaotic Century was my favorite as a kid.
Man I needed this video
Its a tough call but chaotic century comes out on top for me personally followed by new centurey and genesis was mind blowing.
fantastic video, thank you
I used to love watching this at 6am in the morning
