Belgian choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui is artistic director of Royal Ballet of Flanders as well as artistic director of his own company, Eastman, and associate artist at Sadler's Wells. Cherkaoui's style is eclectic, drawing on his training in many different styles of dance, from ballet to hip-hop via tap, jazz and flamenco. So, his new work, created on The Royal Ballet, brings yet further, new stylistic fusions to the Company repertory and the Royal Opera House stage.
Cherkaoui has created more than fifty works for companies including Les Ballets C de la B, Dutch National Ballet, Royal Ballet of Flanders, Paris Opera Ballet and Martha Graham Dance Company. His works often explore themes of cultural difference, religion and spirituality. For example, Sutra (2008) was created in collaboration with artist Antony Gormley and the Shaolin Monks. Following its world premiere at Sadler's Wells, Sutra continues to be performed across the world.

I saw this last month and enjoyed it. This video added to that by showing close ups that I couldn’t see from my stalls seats.
My initial thought was..."this is good, but wtf?" then I read the description and everything made sense. It was mesmerizing.

Ms Natalia is stunning, as always, but as a student of literature & the classics, I would love to see the rest of this ballet.
The choreography & set shown is so provocative, I would dearly love to see where the choreographer took this story. It’s one of the most difficult stories (for women & mothers particulary) in classical Greek mythology.

You can see the entire ballet on bilibili.com which is a Japanese site but you can type in English "Medusa triple bill Royal Ballet" in the search bar and it will come up. The whole ballet is mesmerizing especially the two pas de deux between Osipova and Rychoi Hirano who plays Poseiden, and Osipova and Matthew Ball.

@@robinavalyn9513 For it to work though on the phone, I think you have to download the app first. But on a computer, you don't have to. I just searched it now on the site, the video only pops up if you type in "Medusa within the golden hour"

I was having sound issues, too, on this video and the one of Sarah and Alexander performing an excerpt from The Golden Hour. For me, it's unbalanced and only coming out of one speaker, and even then, not at full power. Definitely took away the magic of watching this piece since I couldn't get immersed in the sound at all.
