Belgian choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui is artistic director of Royal Ballet of Flanders as well as artistic director of his own company, Eastman, and associate artist at Sadler's Wells. Cherkaoui's style is eclectic, drawing on his training in many different styles of dance, from ballet to hip-hop via tap, jazz and flamenco. So, his new work, created on The Royal Ballet, brings yet further, new stylistic fusions to the Company repertory and the Royal Opera House stage.
Cherkaoui has created more than fifty works for companies including Les Ballets C de la B, Dutch National Ballet, Royal Ballet of Flanders, Paris Opera Ballet and Martha Graham Dance Company. His works often explore themes of cultural difference, religion and spirituality. For example, Sutra (2008) was created in collaboration with artist Antony Gormley and the Shaolin Monks. Following its world premiere at Sadler's Wells, Sutra continues to be performed across the world.

This is Maybe the TOP ballet I have ever seen in my life ( on video) that is so fluid, beautiful, and demonstrates the ability to tell a story through dance - I’m addicted to this performance ( in an unhealthy way BECAUSE it’s so creative and beautiful).
The way he talks... you know he is a true artist
I love Greek mythology and I love the royal ballet, this is perfect! I'm really disappointed that I will probably never see this...
I'm also disappointed, I really wanted to see this dance :( I think there's a video of this ballet, but isn't complete. I will give you the link.

This looks INCREDIBLE! I wish I could see it!
I am so overwhelmed right now. I feel so proud as a Greek to see that our mythology has inspired artistes that way!
Looks so cool! Wish I could see this!
This is one of favorite interviews ever on the ballet and work behind the scenes of a masterpiece.
Powerful ! Perceptive Choreography. Very nuanced, very fluid, very deep. Amazing. Love the Sensitivity and Flow. Its really about the depth of Human Nature. We love the Ballet. Fabulous ! Thank you. ❤
Seriously
My favorite Greek mythological character mixed with my passion: ballet.
I really need to watch
Amazing concept for a story ballet. The costume design looks fantastic also. Wish I could watch!
Wow he is so interesting to listen. So deep and intelligent
Went yesterday. Just amazing.
I connect way more with this interpretation of the myth than the general version of it where it's just 'medusa is monster, gets killed by hero'. Much more interesting and thoughtful and human
The costumes are incredibly beautiful😍😍
Thank you so much for sharing this interview. I enjoyed hearing his interpretation and reminding us of consequences of our actions and responsibilities.beautiful choreography and I hope it will one day be released on DVD so I can own it
The royal ballet is beautiful
Now I’m gonna have to travel from Brazil to England just to watch this show.

Great!!!
Please @royaloperahouse will there be a DVD?? Nowadays I don't understand why we can't get our hands on more full lengths videos when we know prformances are recorded - even copyrighted mp4 files bought via your website would be awesome!
I’m liking how expressive and precise the choreography is. So much modern dance is empty flash propped up with pretentious word salad.
Amazing! Very empowering!
He choreographed Beyoncé Grammys performance when she sung Love Drought
He could turn to stone by Medusa
