A tip : I replace the 8mm 1.25 generator / alternator stand studs with washer head bolts 20 mm long. I remove the bolts and the fan slides right out. Also blue lock tight on the 10mm nuts.

Sweet video. Glad you got your pulley plague figured out. Everything looks good and lined up now. 🤙

Great Video. You might want to research this. I think you should have at least 10 shims on your pulley. You might want put one or two shims under the bell washer if you have your belt tension good. The helps keep locking tension on the pulley halves. You can run out of threads on your on your nut. This can cause the pulley assembly to wobble. Maybe look into it before you put to many miles on her. That's probably what chewed up your previous set up.
    Peace

For sure! That’s how it was when I bought it and it was an adventure to figure that out. Bus has many miles since the vid. Pulley problems? No. Other problems? Yes😂
But I keep her rollin. Thanks for the comment and checkin it out. ✌️

@@bomberobus I went through it with my 70 Bus. I didn't realize the vid was a year old. Anyway, thanks for making the videos. I am up here in Montgomery. Hope to see y'all at an event one day. I think I am going to Tannehill at the end of August. It's a two day show with camping.
Could be alittle warm for camping. But it's a good show.👍

I just looked that up and it sounds like a good one! No go for me this year but I’ll keep an eye on that one for the future. I didn’t even know that one existed, but still sort of new to the events. Thanks for the tip. Have a blast and safe one if ya go!

When using Impact Wrench, we DONT have to Clamp the Threaded end of the Armature into the Vice. As the power of the Impact can Easily Unloose the 36mm Nut. The most we ' Assist ' is to put a small piece of wood or Long Screwdrive in between the Fan's Blade to avoid spinning when the Torque Wrench are activated.

So if I were to be able to loosen the 36mm nut and pull the alternator straight out the spacer behind the wall and the fan would fall down into the fan shroud when I pull the alternator out, yes? I love the idea of not removing the fan connected to the alternator but I think that would cause a problem if I drop the spacer(s)🤔

There’s pretty good odds it would into the shroud, and the fit of that circle is pretty tight, so it’d be hard to deal with but could be retrieved. It can be done, but most folks can’t get the 36mm nut broken while still in place due to tight quarters, no leverage etc.

1964 split window bus here. engine seal usually gets baked with headers. Does yours do the same thing?

You have a great year Bus. Well, you made me look at my seal, and as far as I can tell, they’re not baked yet. I don’t drive the Bus much, except on rare occasions like a show or camping with fam ⛺️. Those seals, I’m sure you know, aren’t fun to replace.

@@bomberobus maybe baywindow has more clearance between the header tubes and the rear apron.

Know of anyone that makes a bigger alternator than a 60 Amp?

JBUGS has a 75 amp they sell. That’s the one I’ll eventually get to run all the interior lights on the Bus.
