Thanks to Jesus Christ, I am not the man / father /husband I once was, too bad my family did not like the Godly me.. but I would gladly pay the price once again to be in Jesus house.
This is the best from the old time Gospel singer, Doug Oldham. When he was at his best: there was never a dry eye in the place. rest in peace, dear brother. surely your reward is great in the Heavenly Kingdom.
I grew up with my parents loving and listening g to Doug. Got to love and appreciate this man through their eyes. Very talented, sincere and emotional man of God. In West Michigan, went to several of his concerts!
@@tamarafox1585 I’ve never been to Calvary Baptist. We heard him at the old Welch Civic Auditorium abs a few other churches. Didn’t know Calvary Baptist did a Living Christmas Tree concert.
The first Christian music concert I ever attended was a Spears family event in Rochester NY in 1977. The first song started from off stage and as Doug Oldham slowly walked out singing I was from that moment on one of his biggest fans. What a voice! Discovering this you tube performance is a gift from God. May you be resting at peace in Heaven.
I Was Blessed In Attending A Concert Mr. Oldam Performed In Southern California Back In The 80's......A Wonderful Gift Our Heavenly Father Gifted Gave Mr Oldam....Truly One Of The Finest Voices In My Life Time...
We played his vinyls in 1970 and on...still have them...WOW,,has technology EVER advanced! Praise the Lord! LOL. and NOW, we am 70,,and 72! Ha. Yes, I said, WE AM! 😷

Did not know this man personally. But, I must say he seems to be so genuine and such a humble countinence. I love songs like these that speak to heart and are ageless. The power of the holy spirit flows throughout these songs.
Joe... You are so right... The Holy Spirit just Flows through his Music.. I had the Blessed Opportunity to meet this anointed man of God and oh what messages of the Blessed Hope of Jesus in our lives... He did a Concert for a small venue in Pendleton, Oregon in the early 70's... I had four of his Albums... He was one of a Kind... We know we will be with him someday!! Another great Gospel Artist we lost was Pianist Anthony Burger at a Very young age...
Hi Joe. The singer's name is Doug Oldham. This is a song Bill and Gloria Gaither wrote for him based upon his personal experience. The story could be seen in this book, ch3 books.google.com/books?id=bkqiybUUmUwC&printsec=frontcover&dq=something+beautiful+gloria+gaither&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi4gcq5x9fTAhUl_4MKHQhMDgUQ6AEIJzAA#v=onepage&q&f=false
I am going to say the first time I heard him sign was in Houston 1960 while he was in college with Ron Patty (Sandy Satty dad).and I for got the other two. I lost count the number of time I head Doug sang. I enjoyed him a lot. It was a shame the group could not get back together after they left college.
I seem to remember Doug Oldham giving testimony that this song was true for him- that he truly had been an abusive father before he was saved. My memory is very fuzzy on this though. Does anyone else remember anything like that?
I've wondered about something for a long time now, every time I hear this song. This song is says, Thanks to Calvary, WE don't live here anymore. Why isn't Thanks to Calvary, I don't live here anymore? Who's we?
From reading the origin of the song, he apparently was a very abusive father. His son was scared of him and ran behind a door. Realizing this he got another house. When they were moving his son hid behind the door and he told him( thanks to calvary we don't live here any more).
This is really an awesome song, sung by one of the best gospel singers, Don Oldham. (Too bad Bill won't let him sing it ALONE! One horrible habit, Bill has, "feeding" these singers the words to song they have been singing since before he was even born.)
Does anyone have the Family Reunion album by Doug Oldman. If so, PLEASE post it, i don't know what year but I love it and can't find it on RUclips. We lost our album in a house fire.
Id say pray 4 their salvation any saved be tearing up no matter how many xs u listen 2 this their still hell bound if the dont like this and celebrate their salvation !
