Try the SB Blazers! There’s many different versions, most of them using suede. The recent Eric Koston collabs look really nice with their leather. The zoom air insole is a nice addition, and I’m assuming the outsole is about the same, and the sidewall is thicker and reinforced. It looks like sole separation would be less of an issue as well. Also the SB Blazers look a bit lower (with the exception of the premium plus models). I have regular Blazers, but I’ve been thinking about buying the SB models when mine inevitably fail, they’re even cheaper than the regular Blazers and usually on sale. What’s not to love?

I teach middle school and the blazers continue to be pretty popular both in middle school and high school. So I think this is Nikes attempt at making a version for adults, so us people over the age of 18 can wear blazers too. (Hence the description. Kids pair these with tiny shorts and oversized t-shirts, not with sweaters.) Unfortunately, while they made the styling a little more mature, they didn't improve the quality of the materials, which is something an adult would look for. I don't think it's an oversight. They're just trying to get away with it.

As an Oregonian Ive tried them so many times for so many things wanting to like their stuff, but most felt no different or better from their old products and those that did were only solid for maybe a year and then the quality dropped and getting a decent pair that wasnt poorly put together or using cheaper less comfortable materials became a gamble. Ive had specialty fencing shoes pop with every step and then one day just make this loud bang like a gunshot. Ive had a pair where the rubber around the logo on the soles of the shoes just started peeling. They had it "sent to the lab" for a week only to be brought back to me saying basically "Dunno, sucks man" and when I asked for either a replacement or a refund heres how that went:
Nike: "Heres what we can do, we can credit you the amount of the shoes for the online store."
Me: "Can I buy the replacement pair on the store?"
    Nike: "No"
Keep in mind I have learned to not trust their quality on much of anything from shoes to clothing, it all seems to fall apart easily or be defective. So why would I want a $220 credit for their online store where I can only buy way overpriced stuff I no longer trust and the one thing I gave them money for I cannot get. I cut my losses and have stuck with Adidas since. Havent had anywhere near the issues with comfort and quality that I had with Nike.
Im not remotely surprised this is the quality of their products, they seem to have just been coasting on brand recognition alone for at least the past couple decades it seems. Like, they brought out an ugly neon yellow green for the Olympics that looked absolutely ugly with a lot of athletes uniforms, especially fencing. If the sole purpose was to be visible then that was all it achieved. It was an obnoxious color that they poured money into developing so they could get as many Olympic athletes wearing them as possible and most had no choice. Most comments I got on the color choice was "its distracting", "they're ugly", "Why though?" and the classic "they're an eyesore". They patented the ugly color even. All that money to spend and they dont put out much quality or new ideas, just same old stuff with different configurations and colors but made with countless corners cut to save a buck resulting in junk like this.
Nike is from my home town and Id pick Adidas every time over Nike after all the products they sell and pay top dollar to ensure they are the brand section closest to the entrance in every store in Oregon that carries them. They literally do this btw, they have representative go out in person to get the stores to make sure their stuff is front and center. I used to wonder why that was the case until I asked an employee once and they explained that Nike arranges this and its common in Oregon. I asked an employee of Nike and they confirmed that was a thing. Dunno if they are still doing it but I imagine so.
Too many Nike products fell apart on me too much to trust them anymore. Swore off them about 5 or 6 years ago and Adidas and Danners is what I use now.

You realize Phoenix is a city and not a state right? Oregonian is literally what we call ourselves and its literally the name of our local newspaper "the Oregonian". Like Texan and Californian, etc. Im originally from Portland and we dont call ourselves Portlandians, we call ourselves either Oregonians or Portlanders.
Nike is from my home town and because of that they have their representatives go in person to most athletic shops in the Tri city area to ensure their products are front and center and has the most dedicated floor space. Met the CFO himself due to the fact that his family liked to fence.
Had lots of kids whos parents worked for Nike and Intel and Nike representatives came to our club in person to offer our coaches a then prototype pair of Ballestras to try out as our club was one of the premier fencing clubs in the nation with proper grounded strips and all. I assume our neighbors the OFA also got some as they also were known to turn out Olympians and champions like Mariel Zagunis and Becca Ward.
I competed and coached in olympic style fencing and used various shoes both for standard conditioning and specialized fencing shoes. The Ballestra models specifically for fencing, named after a fencing maneuver that involves a sliding hop into a quick lunge with a change in tempo to catch the opponent flat footed.
Nike quality is junk in my opinion and they are at the front of basically every athletics store, they pay top dollar to ensure that.
Adidas US headquarters is also in Oregon as is Columbia Sportswear, Leatherman and Benchmade. Nike, unlike Adidas, is actually founded here. Adidas was founded in Germany.

Honestly the best thing about Nike is their returns policy - which is by far the best in the market: 30 (or even 60) days wearing the product and if you dont like it, free returns - no questions asked.
If unworn (1 year return) or failure due to defect (even longer) you can also simply return the product, paid back in full. (Obviously don't abuse this or you can get flagged.)
2nd best thing: they put out such a variety of different products and saturate the market that you can always find something that you like at half the retail price if you avoid the hyped up stuff.
3rd, you cannot deny that some models are so ingrained in our psyche that I doubt they will ever go out of style for Nike - Chucks, Jordans, Air maxes, blazers, dunks, etc., are timeless. As long as they don't dissolve in 30 days of wear, people (myself included 😅) will buy them.
Quality wise other (sport) brands typically offer much more bang for your buck at retail prices (lately Puma/Adidas have been really good and so have the Asian brands).
That said, thank you Weston for always showing us the craftsmanship & quality behind each pair! I completely agree, it is really dissapointing with this one. If you can get it for below 50$/€ then ok, but at retail ... nope, straight pass.
Also, until we as consumers actually force brands to put out less, but better quality products, this fake "sustainability" labels will get us nowhere. We should vote with our money for more natural materials, less crappy (plastic/"vegan" leather), more long lasting/sturdy products, that you can repair at coblers and therefore have more sustainable consumer cycles. The companies can still catch the same profit by selling 1 pair for 100$ profit instead of 10 pairs for 10$ profit, with a much lower tax on the environment, labour & other production costs, etc.

It’s a shame that Nike’s Quality continues to fall as the Nike Blazer is such an Iconic shoe in style. I recently in the past 2 years have been getting into shoes with higher quality, better materials, and overall more comfortable. My favorite pair of shoes is the John Low’s by P448. The silhouette of the shoe reminds me of A premium Stan Lee, Vans, or Nike Blazer but retains its own characteristics. The leather inside and outside the shoe is thicker than what I’m use to. The way the shoe is cut really shows P448 understands a lot about the way your foot sits inside the shoe.

Now they doubled in price and quality is awful. I can buy cheapest shoes and they will be on paar with Nike's. Only thing going for them is design which is subjective but I like it. But I'm not buying shoes for design only, quality footware is on the first place.
