I completely agree on the Garou Knights being unnecessary filler villains. Their only purpose is to slow down the rescue team, so that the rescue team has something to do while the games are going on. I also agree that there should have been more episodes showing the FT members left behind. The tenrou team returning in just one episode really does the left behind members injustice.
@@bangscutter Right? There were so many other ways to slow down the rescue team without adding unnecessary Filler while the tournament finals were going on. What do you think about the last point?
@@gallenberger1 Raven Tail was severely underused. Especially how they were built up even from the Battle of Fairy Tail arc to be this big menace. Then they got one shot by Laxus. The broken relationship between Ivankov and Makarov could have been explored further too.
@@gallenberger1because it was a means for Laxus to show where his loyalties lay and put a closure on a story meant only for him and Makarov. Battle of Fairy Tail started because Laxus never understood why Makarov kicked out the dad. He then tried to force the guild to shape in the way his dad would have done it and realized he was undeniably stupid.
I’ve always liked how Fairy Tail as a series makes use of characters or concepts introduced early on in later arcs (e.g. Ultear was introduced as a member of the Magic Council, built up as early as the Galuna Island arc as someone dubious, serving Siegrain/Jellal but later revealed to actually serve Grimoire Heart, and Grimoire Heart itself later shows up), but Raven Tail was definitely not something the series handled well, or at least something the series kinda just gave up on. When Gajeel was revealed to be a double agent for Raven Tail, I thought that would’ve built up to something bigger but nah lol
Something else I’d like to add was more screentime for the Crime Sorciere members. With the exception of Jellal fighting against Olga and Ultear’s sacrifice they were almost completely forgotten. Meredy’s role was literally to make Jellal lose and that’s it. I feel like seeing more of Ultear and how she interact with Fairy Tail before her sacrifice would make it more bittersweet and meaningful. Her and Meredy are incredibly powerful underused characters. And Yukino and Ophiucus deserved a lot more screentime and backstory as well. Im assuming that they didn’t want her to overshadow Lucy, but her having the 13th gate key and doing nothing with it felt useless. They could’ve easily incorporated Ophiucus into the eclipse gate too and it would’ve been more interesting .
Ophiculus is still the biggest let down ever 😭 As for crime sorciere it’s lile the MHA and One Piece problem. The point was to show the unity of the guilds that participated despite them competing against another. CS really only mattered to Team Natsu, and even actually only 3 people: Erza, Gray, and Juvia. It wouldn’t have mattered because Ultear’s sacrifice would only have mattered to Gray given their history.
What I would add is having the guild members who spent 7 years in the Fairy Tail guild playing a bigger part in the plot. Perhaps Warren uses his telepathy to get the location of Lucy, Jet runs around the kingdom looking, Droy uses his plants roots to actually find Lucy underground. Some other plot relevance to Alzack, Bisca, Kinana, Laki, Max, Nab, Reedus, Vijeeter, Romeo, Macao, and Wakabe. I think they could do much more than just be audience members.
@@gallenberger1except Mashima values his and our time. Look at one piece. Every season is at minimum on average about 55 episodes long. those are its SHORTER arcs. Dressrosa was over 110 episodes that took place in a SINGLE day. Why? Because the focus is everywhere. Look at Wano. With all the stuff happening its over 200 episodes long. That’s literally almost the entirety of dragonball z and 2/3 about of Fairy Tail. That is what happens when you try having everyone do something. The majority doesn’t care what the minor cast does when the arc is about the GMG.
Plus it’s pointless because they already KNEW where Lucy was. What would be the point in having them do anything? They were all together and knew about it. It’s just giving minor characters something to do to waste time.
@@DarkEclipse23 Values our time. Gives us 4 episodes of the executioners who do literally nothing but waste time. Those four episodes could be used better. Also you can have everyone play a part in an episode or less, Fairy tail has literally done it. The reason no one cares about the minor cast is because they get barely any screen time apart from fillers episodes. I'm not asking them to be main characters or even middle characters; but the beginning of the arc emphasized FairyTail without the main cast. Why even include them in the story if you weren't going to do anything with them? Also the video was discussing how to rewrite minor events to make things flow better and make more sense, discussing the actual plot in a rewrite scenario falls flat my friend. You must love Fairy Tail but this is all in the imagination on what could've happened to make it better for me and the creator of the video.
My only complaint is how they dealt with Hisui. She believes someone who claims to be from the future after his prediction comes true, and nearly causes the apocalypse, then she’s a Queen in only a year. Like even if it was true, she wasn’t even sure the the eclipse gate could even defend Fiore from 10000 dragons
This, Hisui, albeit with some justification for her actions, had all but sentenced her kingdom to its demise unless the wizards were all there. I don’t care about how much she’s done to grow in the 2 years between the GMG and epilogue, there should have been *actual* consequences for her actions.
@@JDubs1464 @Sean-wv7wl Hey, what if this could set up Hisui eventually pardoning and book ending the Oracion Seis and Crime Sorciere's redemption arcs? You know, like connect her mistakes and her own actions and a character arc of redeeming herself through service and other means much like OS and CS.
With there already being 2 threats, Twilight Ogre and Raven Tail, I actually think that itd be smarter for Sabertooth to take the back seat. It adds mystique and an air of power for them because at that time we all kind of knew that realistically Sabertooth was the only threat Fairy Tail had. The executioners were almost entirely pointless, their only value was for Mira to have some combat use other than beating Jenny in 1 go, and also to introduce Pisces’ other form. I definitely agree with your version of the subplot. 100% agree with the Raven Tail part, they were all just so unmemorable like honestly I doubt anyone can remember them other than Flare.
I disagree. Sabertooth was the guild meant to opposite Fairy Tail. THEY were the new no.1. They had their own two dragon slayers. Some giant lightning guy. A lady that manipulates spatial magic, and a man who uses make-magic. Raven Tail was just a loose end to the Laxus battle of Fairy Tail arc that he would resolve on his own to show his growth and admiration for his guild.
I mean it’s almost like you didn’t realize how pointless TO and RT were meant to be. One was ohko’d twice already and the other one was meant to be closure on Laxus’s end. Yeah the former would be so enticing to see them lose for a third time. 🙄
Or make the nights characters who are hunting after jelal in the background since Joel was concealing his identity, but no one major was really looking for him. It was just kind of avoid the random guards And then the person who did have beef with him, wasn’t really hunting him throughout the yard they were just someone who would go after him after the tournament,
Okay, regarding Lucy and Yukino’s capture, it wasn’t Arcadios that did it, but a guy that was trying to stop him from using the Eclipse Gate. As for making it harder to find Lucy, that’s kinda hard to do since the rescue team has two dragonslayers who are able to track Lucy’s scent (not to mention that Natsu himself wouldn’t have the patience to do any mystery solving and will just resort to brute force). As for the Future Lucy tragedy, it’s Fairy Tail. While there are dark moments in it, watching how every Fairy Tail member died to the dragons would have been too brutal.
I am interested to see your take on how to improve the final arc (Alvarez) which many fans think is so bad that it needs to be completely rewritten. At the time, Hiro Mashima was under pressure to finish off the series quickly and he lost interest too.
@bangscutter I have thought about that, and I'll probably do it at some point, but it's so big and far reaching that it's going to take a lot more research and time to sit down if I want to do it well
Honestly the only reason people really hated it is because no one dies. Who tf wants to rewatch a dumb silly show knowing half these guys get slaughtered at the end? It’s depressing af. And no matter what anyone says. Laxus is far from mature enough to take over. He still thinks how quickly he can murder some random guy that possibly wanted to join ft. Also. No one really believes he’s a good person still. They assumed HE made touka cry despite not having done so.
Also it was cut out from the 100yq anime but unlike makarov. Laxus outright denied newcomers because he assumed they wanted to join because they were popular. Which. Is why lucy joined in the first place.
Okay actually maybe I can sorta see in a situation that being 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙘𝙚𝙙 to be guild master would make Laxus mature, Team Natsu really was only allowed to go on the 100yq because it was Makarov who “okayed” it and it was specifically because he heard Natsu tell him it was because “you always told and encouraged us to follow the path we believed in”.
It's not bad tho, I feel like if the animation was better, and some of the matchups for the spriggan 12 were different, then we could have had a solid ending to that season, if I had written fairy tail, I would not have killed ultears youth in gmg, I would have done it in the alvarez empire arc, and ultear would sacrifice herself, because the attack that wall eehto was about to hit fairy tail with was not blocked by ichiya, which causes the guild members to get injured gravely and i would even say she does that to reverse makarov's death, while fighting dimaria, she realises the situation and decides to use time arc, which causes time to reset and we get the matchups that we got in the final season, where I would say in the first timeline, gildarts defeats god Serena and then in the new timeline, acnologia defeats god Serena, I would give one good fight to Kagura and Minerva, since both of them used to be on erza's level and i would not make it look like erza's bones were broken when dragon form Irene pushed erza, since if erza's bones weren't broken, she definitely could break the meteor
I love GMG but it does fall flat for even more reasons, to name a few: *Sting Giving Up:* I'm not calling it bad writing, but it does not feel satisfying as a conclusion to this grand tournament that the final showdown is a verbal foreit. My favourite replacement is this: Sting doesn't give up- he fights. Its 5v1 and Fairy Tail is drained- sting dominates them but fights respectfully- he even gives Fairy Tail compliments for its guild's strength and family values. Just as he is about to defeat Erza, the last fairy tail member standing, Minerva warps in. Minerva brags and mocks Erza, and argues with Sting. How dare he compliment them and show them respect. She orders him to insult their guild, and to finish off Erza. Sting refuses. In fact, he takes out minerva and gives up. He would rather lose the tournament than win for minerva and sabertooth, for their cruelty. He vows to change the guild for the best, then and there. This helps his poor characterisation, it doesn't show him as a crying weak broken boy but makes him an honourable man who sees the error in his old ways. It makes sabertooth all turning good more realistic too- and it still shows them as strong rivals to fairy tail. Second one: *Kagura Unsheathing Sword* Hiro undersold Kagura's fight with Erza. Kagura was such a fresh new character with so much potential. She rivalled erza's "badass" status, kicked her ass all fight too. Then, we have that beautiful ciffhanger when Kagura screams at Erza, unsheathes her sword, and blood splatters- it's brilliant. But after, it means nothing. Nobody died, erza didn't even get stabbed badly. Again, not satisfying. Instead (and this is dark) it’d be brutal if Minerva swapped Erza with Milianna at the last moment. Kagura's literally blinded by her anger, and she doesn't see. She unleashes onto Milianna, nearly killing her. If FT was Seinen, or Hiro felt risky, he could have Kagura kill Milianna accidentally. It's dark as fuck, it could work. For Minerva, who later joins Dark guilds like Succubus Eye and then Tartaros, it would foreshadow her darker tendencies and cement her as a truly evil bitch, who even turns part demon. Minerva might even walk away scott-free, she'd tell the GMG judges that "technically" she didn't kill anyone, Kagura's sword did it. If this lands Kagura in trouble or even jailtime, perhaps it leads to Fairy tail but mainly Erza coming to rescue her. For erza, it proves her loyalty to Kagura, and makes the friendship they develop begin Erza more realistically. I don't think this one is as bad, but I just think Kagura's sword was so hyped up only for it to mean nothing. I do think the arc is brilliant in how it transitions to the darker future events. All of that is great, but more development for Future Lucy would've been great. it would make her death even more tragic.
@chidzhustle3570 There are certainly more issues with the arc then what I laid out, and you named a few. These changes would've streamlined everything. I actually have an ending I really like I've saved for another video which also replaces Sting giving up
You’re missing the point. Sting WAS a weak willed character. They all were. They all stood by and allowed their comrade to be disgracefully stripped and kicked out. He had the gall to look down on Fairy Tail when they supported eachother, but his guild is without shame cutting out anyone who loses once. Also on what planet makes you think Hiro would literally make Kagura’s mental health worse?
Again. You were over 150 episodes into fairy tail. What in the hell makes you think hiro would suddenly be gorey or graphic to one of its key main people?
Why would it matter? Future Lucy is essentially a plot device existing to show us the devastated timeline. There was nothing BUT for her to die and give Natsu a reason to be angry at Future Rogue.
I mean hell. Was her torturing Lucy for fun not dark enough for you? Her having shown her whipping Milli’s back not dark enough for you? If you’re that obsessed with darkness I hear Chainsaw man is great. Especially how everyone aside of denji in s1 dies shortly after the season. Maybe that will be dark enough for you.
There was also this small interaction whereby Mirajane noted how Yukino resembles Lisanna. It gave me ideas that there would be some development for Lisanna and Yukino individually or two of them maybe bonding over older sisters or something. Some examples might be: 1) Mira pays more attention to Yukino, maybe just out of concern, and it triggers Lisanna to thinking she's lost that attention from Mira, subsequently giving her some spotlight to shine. 2) Maybe some backstory as to how Yukino got Ophiucus from an attempt to find her sister. I know they are background characters who probably don't need these filler plots, but I just feel many a times Hiro initiates some possible side plot and then let it fall flat
Romeo definitely should have been a part of the grand magic games. It would have been really cool to see Romeo train with Natsu before the competition and actually see him progress more as a character since he looks up to Natsu.
My guy that's what the whole time skip is for so Romeo could have progressed within that time span and then trained with Natsu. If Wendy can do it he could do it
This is definitely one of if not my favorite arcs, just because of how much Natsu popped off throughout. That being said, I still have my gripes with this arc, mainly with how Lucy was done dirty Her match with Flare was one thing: good setup to show how cheap Raven Tail was. Side note, I agree with what you said on leveraging that even more then saving Laxus kicking their asses for the end, which could also help Ivan's writing fwiw Flare I can let slide, but her being completely helpless against Minerva to this day still pisses me off so much. I'll give it credit for being a good showcase of Lucy's mental fortitude, but it really shouldn't have been as one sided as it was. I mean, she already played along with being a punching bag in the fight with Flare to send a message, it doesn't need to happen again. Lucy's a smart character with, while obviously not to the degree of Natsu at the time, still has decent combat prowess, as we saw ever since Everlue. I feel like she should be able to eventually see holes through Minerva's attack patterns, dodge/block, then counter attack accordingly. Have them trade blows and give us a more even fight. As cheap as Minerva is based on what we see on the last day, I still feel like she'd have too much pride to wanna teleport Lucy out for an easy win after that, especially after she riled her up in the first place. Even if Lucy ends up losing and comes out injured anyways, at least she'd give Sabertooth something to remember Fairy Tail by, which would also work perfectly as foreshadowing for the ass kicking Natsu's giving them later on. Yeah it's obvious Natsu's stronger and a more experienced fighter than Lucy at this stage, but to have him casually soloing Sting and Rogue by himself (keep this, this was perfect) but having Lucy being completely helpless against Minerva is just far too polarizing of a gap in my imo
I mean you’re expecting someone who relied 10 billion % on her pokemon to actually be as physically strong as Erza. Which if you remember. That’s why Minvera forced Kagura and Erza to battle. She could somewhat handle both of them but was kore confident 1 v1. And by that point Erza was using her basic Erza strength.
@@DarkEclipse23 I never said Lucy should be Erza's equal, and her being equal to Minerva wouldn't make that the case either. Erza was worn out from her fight with Kagura, yet still defeated a healthy Minerva, she's definitely much stronger I never said Lucy had to win, all I wanted was for her to put up more of a fight and not seem completely helpless as she did. Yeah losing access to her keys leaves her at a disadvantage, but something that sets her above other Celestial wizards is the fact that she would fight alongside them instead of using them as shields, which is something I wish they would show more than tell. I mean, we've seen her dodge Everlue's shit early on, and she knocked out Love Girl with an arm sweep during their fight on Galuna. They could've definitely expanded on her hand to hand combat to better emphasize this. And Minerva was mostly attacking her with punches and kicks, I'm pretty sure Lucy should be about to fend her off with hand to hand combat to some extent
My only complaint is how they dealt with Hisui. She believes someone who claims to be from the future after his prediction comes true, and nearly causes the apocalypse, then she’s a Queen in only a year.
See my biggest change is if they're going to have 6 teams I'd say Makarov forces his hand to have Natsu compete. So the rescue team would be Wendy, Mira, Juvia, amd the thunder legion to give minor characters better suited for mental games time to shine in a psychological battle. They also built up Natsu and Ichiya battling that we never got. It finally let us see the most handsome man go all out and gives Natsu a good fight for the Arc facing one of Erza's old rivals
@@zeroxenoverse9251when Bachus was first introduced Natsu was the main guy wanting to fight him. Then Lucy and Gray thought they'd have to wake up Natsu to fight Bachus cause they tried making even match ups Then when fairy tail took first place after the dragon slayer fight Jura said he wanted to fight Laxus, Lyon said he wanted to fight Gray, Kagura wanted Erza, then Hibiki, Ren, and Eve wanted Gajeel, and Ichiya wanted Natsu. Well the first 4 did happen. Also we get all this hype Ichiya is a wizard even Erza respects his strength and the fact he Bachus someone who was Erza equal at one point pretty easily. It be cool since it probably be a decent fight for Natsu instead of Jura just one tapping Ichiya which felt a little forced.
GMG is definitely my Top 1 arc in FT. I also felt that Raven Tail shouldve been the final boss, coz they wont only win the Tournament, but also they defeat an evil counterpart.
@@gallenberger1becaude Raven Tail wasnt the focus of the overall arc. Sabertooth was. Sabertooth was more anti-fairy tail than raven tail was. All raven tail had was… a similar name. It only existed so Laxus could complete his arc and show his dedication to his ‘actual’ family.
@@gallenberger1i mean they only were jerks for like. Two episodes. Against gray and juvia, and against Lucy. I guess you could count Wendy but they didn’t have much of an existence as is. Especially with the style of tournament Mashima went with. Having an event + 4 battles a day would mean he needed to make the same thing happen 2-3 days in a row to justify a long end. And he only had like 5 days of actual competition. I mean even the foreshadowing wasn’t really that big. It was an add on because of Laxus and to extend a fight or make something uber repetitive would kinda have been boring. I liked that Laxus was the one to do it because I also like that even if a bit they fought or competed not always against Fairy Tail. As for the 5 days. It probably just played into the whole 7 thing. Especially since dragons were involved. In the end the gmg wasn’t just a tournament. It was a festival of sorts. That’s why they did random stuff. Like running. Hide and seek. Gauntlets until Erza ruined it for everyone 😂 Not to mention Mashima was more focused on Sabertooth. Trying to shove two focuses is why MHA’s war arc took like 2-3 years to finish. Trying to get everyone to do something. One piece’s dressrosa src is 110+ episodes taking place in the span of a day. On average with how long the gmg arc was it didn’t need to be 50 episodes or more.
@@gallenberger1i mean you can even argue it was only so that Mashima could go into 2v2 fights and have the dragon slayers fight eachother. Which worked out mostly because sting and rogue idolized natsu and Gajeel respectively. I mean when you think about it that is the last win fight Natsu does until the dragons come in and all he really did was destroy the gate 👀
How I would change the GMG is that Gajeel 1v2s Sting and Rogue instead of letting sting end the games with a surrender. Even by Fairy Tail standards it never made sense how a possessed Rogue was able badly injure Gajeel when he and sting could barely damage him the day before
Future Rogue shared his power with the present Rogue, that's how he was able to get the upper hand. The 7 years of experience future Rogue had fighting off dragons also played a part in it after taking over his body.
I do agree with most of them but the only problem is giving a harder time for the rescue team. I dont mind if the search becomes harder. But i hope they dont just run around here and there together for stupid reasons or without any intellectual clues just to stretch out time. Might as well just include the executioners if it's like that. At least we get to see some action. The execution needs to be done well maybe solving mysteries or clues to find Lucy&Yukino which is actually very hard to plan honestly. I think it's actually fitting for team rescue to have some action to parallel those in the coloseum. So i don't actually mind with what they did. Maybe make the fights a bit harder I guess 🤷
I agree on that notion too. It feels a lot like how one piece drags things out at times. Like. You’re just seeing Luffy stand around with bellamy bouncing around him for 7 episodes so everyone else can fight.
@fubuki5hiro764 The problem with them is they're introduced randomly with no build while multiple other threats are out there. Because of this, you know immediately they don't matter. Instead of seemingly endless episodes of pointless fights, make it two or three episodes of mental struggles and everything flows much better imo
@@gallenberger1well honestly they ARE kinda just filler fights to slightly extend the arc or give it more oomph. Putting even more weight on filler is what people have had issues with.
@@gallenberger1 yeah. Then in a way giving the executioners more buildup would kinda solve the problem. Or as u mentioned in the video, maybe replace the executioners with Raven Tail who are coming back because they are not satisfied after the whole Laxus thing and want some revenge just to be whooped again by the rescue team. We'll actually even get to see what the Raven Tail members are made of when they got one-shotted by Laxus. Though I do think the same thing will happen especially with Mirajane there. So making Raven Tail stronger is a must 🤔
I agree with all of your points except the Raven Tail one as if Raven Tail wasn't disqualified then Fairy Tail still would have been split in 2 teams making things more complicated but Raven Tail should have had more screentime till the final day (Although it would have been fun to see Raven Tail and 2 Fairy Tail team in final day)
Your messing the theme of the story, this why even tho anericab media has great animation they fail, they don’t adhere to a theme. The story it’s about fairy tail. Hence why focusing on sabertooth makes the story boring if we focus on them it’s from fairy tail POV. Not about the taking the top spot from sabertooth but about the taking the top spot. The knights are there because they are important in the original timeline. The event of the OG timeline are Implied as to Lucy still being in jail this means during the whole,e thing Natsu and crew were busy fighting the knight, hence why they never got to Lucy And the death aren’t shown because that part of the story needs to make sense with future Lucy ending, the whole story from the future is her story and when it end it ties up to her. Side note sting giving up is the point of GMG if sting never gave up he would had been weaker then the fairy tail member left behind
@@gallenberger1 it’s okay I understand, but this arc is very complex lex to the point when people don’t even get it. People don’t even get that future Lucy became past Lucy and then was added to Lucy’s memories
I really agree on one of the comments here about the Crime Sorciere. The idea of Jellal creating a the team with Meldy and Ultear is cool idea. And I wished they had shown them work more. It even annoyed me a bit that they even put that one scene where the girls (specifically Ultear) had to sabotage Jellal in Jellal vs Jura fight in a comedic way. I understand why she had to, but I don't understand why they had to make it 'funny'.
I mean if you hate fun and funny that much I hear berserk is a nice trip. Even claymore. Why are you even watching fairy tail if you weren’t expecting it? It’s like watching one piece and after being half way in you’re still disappointed with how goofy Luffy is during a fight.
One major thing I'd change is revamp Raven Tail's members, give them all extremely potent types of magic, probably change them up completely except Flare and even make it where Alexei (The guy Ivan pretended to be) is his own character with maybe a Gold Creation and Manipulation Magic. Main point is they'd live up to the whole Anti-Fairy Tail title Ivan gave them and they are all as powerful as Fairy Tail's S-Class mages, with Alexei even being powerful enough to fight evenly with and even surpass Laxus in some areas, using his metal magic to nullify Laxus's lightning.
Then you never understood the point about Raven Tail’s existence. It was the closure for Laxus and Makarov that started the Battle of Fairy Tail. It was his story to conclude.
Wait, the FANS created the Garou Knights and Mashima had just decided to add them into the show? That’s sounds crazy, but it’s also cool of him to do💀 (Btw, were they in the manga or nah?)
@@gallenberger1 yup he said it’s his favorite arc. I love seeing vids like this because it really does remind me how much better fairy tail could of been with little tweaks here and there. Nevertheless I have always loved fairy tail since way back when❤️🔥
I agree that Grand magic games is one of Fairy tails best arcs. But for me, Tartaros is their best arc. There was so much emotion and the fights were amazing. I mean I like GMG but I don't think Tartaros can be topped.
I really like this arc, but they are just some things I would like to see them change like Laxus losing to Jura would be great for tension and having some of the fairy tails members lose in the final match. A thing is Jura beating Laxus would make the 10 wizard saints look even more powerful and threatening by defeating other powerful S class wizards. I have Jura beatin and tired after fighting Laxus, but got surprise attack by a full powered Sting at the end and have him lose in the tournament. Another issue that I have is that nlNatsu beating Sting and Rogue by using only the power of friendship does not sit right with me. I will let natsu also add dragon force as well to beat Sting and Rogue to show off how powerful Natsu dragon force is compared to the 3rd generation dragon slayers.
@@gallenberger1 any changes you’d make to the arc to make it better? OR talking about how great it was with raising the stakes and what it did for the story overall story of FT
@@punkrocker4life9674 I hadn't planned on it. The next four FT vids are kind of set in stone but based on a lot of the subs being fans I'll have to come up with more ideas, and this seems like something that would work.
best arcs? oh you mean the war against alvarez, it was some hype and dice... around till they decided elfman and lisana would defeat ajeel in talk no jutsu ("what you'r family too"?) although it had the weakest point of fairy tail... you know when fairy tail said "we have allies from other guilds" and we seen every member of other guild walking the streat.. takes literly 10 seconds for each character.. include sabertooth exceeds and granny)
While I can agree about the Garou knights, as they are literally anime fights only far as I remember, I think your suggestion is the one piece effect. Dressrosa is one day stretched into over 110 episodes. And that is because so much time is dedicated to just seeing bad guys you know that are going to be defeated just irritate you because of how long it’s gonna be until they’re finally down. As for Raven Tail. You can’t have two focuses and still have an arc that isn’t so convoluted. You want more time with future Lucy, more time with the raven tail, and there’s still the sabertooth guild and the dragon invasion. Lucy’s story doesn’t work because. She’s from the future that sucks. We know for a fact it isn’t going to really happen and honestly that moment of everyone dying is my one flaw of the arc. It was. Really pointless really. They died just to be brought back. It’s like Kakashi in the pain arc. We know he’s not gonna die after that. As for how they died. Uhm. Im pretty sure we can put together that all the dragon slayers aside of sting and rogue were eaten by the dragons. It would just be a kakashi thing again. Seeing Levy all scarred up and everyone in flames kinda shows that the dragons won. But back to my one piece point. The longer it takes to accomplish something you know is going to happen can just lead to artificial tension and padding time out for. Well. Other stuff. I mean seeing Luffy needing 10 minutes to recover is just 4 more episodes of seeing everyone doing the literal same thing. Pushing back the barrier. And trying to stop doffy. We know rebecca isn’t going to kill Viola when Luffy is in the arc. But 4 episodes of all that just to create tension is just. Honestly? It feels like a waste of time. I mean to be fair it IS a one piece problem. Every big final fight is the first try fail. Second attempt. Then 5 episodes inbetween for the victory comeback. And as I also already stated. To get your tension for raven tail it would need to have the same conflict for over half the event period for it to matter when there are other match ups to show. I mean Elfman vs Bacchus was still great. Jella vs Jura was cool. It doesn’t need lucy vs flare every single event. Even wendy vs chelia was nice. Mira vs Jenny was. Mira vs Jenny 😂 I mean with the big finale you can’t spend the limited events and fights on ONE guild. Especially when you also want Sabertooth, the actual anti-Fairy Tail group in it. I mean remember despite it all it IS meant to be a calm before the storm. All the silliness and entertainment is supposed to be you relaxing. Yknow. Until dragons come and nearly kill everyone. I mean holy hell those things were GIANT AF. no wonder they dominated. Look how the dragon slayers basically did NOTHING. thank goodness Mashima is Mashima. I don’t need more chainsaw man or JJK in my life than there already is.
And you can’t actually ignore Sabertooth because they play a decent role in the next…. Rest of the series. Sun village. Tartaros. Kinda Avatar. Alvarez. Not so much the es arc but Yukino does show off her skills more so what do I know.
and not only that but you still have Erza and her relationship with Mermaid’s Heel. That’s already a 3rd guild with a prominent presence that you can’t give equal time with to have all in one arc. Again unless you made it at minimum 72 episodes which is how long Dressrosa part 1 is. They don’t even fight Doffy until perhaps ~60-65 episodes in.
Although I still stand by Mira not getting her own arc is a crime! We had Cana but I guess Mira’s story was tied to Lisanna so. Whatever I guess. 😒 least i get to see her in 100yq.
Oh an honestly the only other thing I have an issue with is literally the whole Simon mess. With Erza taking the fall just to save her boytoy. Like it was stupid to say it was HER fault when the situation itself wouldn’t happen if not for Jellal. And before anyone brings up that whole possession thing. That entire memory was retconned to push the blame on Ultear. We’ve already seen two cases of possession with zoldeo and Faris. Not to mention Jellal was only doing what his cult leaders wanted for his own gain and Ultear only gave him the tools because she needed him as a distraction so Hades could just. Screw around. That scene is just disrespectful to the actual long 7 years of hurt and pain just because Erza wanted to screw her childhood crush she knew for a short time.
I'd say the GMG is one of the worst arcs 1. Sets up that mages have gotten way stronger since Natsu and the others were at their peak, suggesting they will all be more challenging for them to face, yet guilds like Blue Pegasus and Quatro Cerberus are portrayed as ineffective clowns, Mermaid Heel has one decent mage, Raven Tail seems dangerous but gets utterly bodied, and Sabertooth seems to be unstoppable but then we see them get effortlessly wrecked 2. Sting and Rogue are built up as these ultimate Dragon Slayers far superior to Natsu and Gajeel, making you think when they do fight it'll be a knock down, drag out fight to the finish, only for Natsu and Gajeel to comically bulldoze over them aand then Natsu puts Gajeel out of Commission and barely breaks a sweat pummeling the both of them. 3. Kagura's Sword is hyped up as this terrifying cursed object that can cause untold calamity once it's drawn, only for her to draw it, get deflected by Erza and then nothing else comes of it. Same with Yukino annd her 13th Key, hyped up to be this terrifying force, only to get one shot and never used again 4. Raven Tail, hyped up as this ultimate evil guild capable of crushing Fairy Tail, only for the mages to have very unimpressive magic ability and thenn get utterly wrecked by Laxus, including his own father who is comically weak despite being Makarov's son and Laxus's dad and is never mentioned again. This entire arc just felt like a Fairy Tail Dick riding arc, where Fairy Tail is wrapped in ultra dense plot armor, given power ups like candy and interesting elements are thrown in the garbage for more speeches about Friendship.
I think the issue is that the blue pegasus and lamia scale already looked bad compared to Fairy Tail before then, so they needed a bigger threat, and they made 1, but portrayed 3 or 4. Sting and Rogue should be what they were, because it fits with the writing for them. They looked up to/feared Natsu/Gajeel. So to have far surpassed them, eventually with major Natsu stuff that is revealed later, it makes no sense for him to not 1v2 them. Idr too much about Kagura's Sword bit, but I remember the point of her character, she's a threat to Erza because she's someone Erza would never hurt but she feels hurt by Erza. Compared to the rest of her nothing of a guild, she seems pretty strong though, and I think they were the ones uptalking her sword. Raven Tail losing to Laxus was incredible, it makes sense for Ivan to suck, mage ability isn't in the bloodline, it's about the character and maybe also the type of magic. (The heart)
@@gallenberger1 Honestly though, I think if some of the Fairy Tail members that were left behind and endured the 7 long years died here after receiving all of that extra screentime you offered. It would've been the highpoint of the audience's care for them. Like how bitter sweet and in-character it would've been for them to died preventing an even worse future considering how the Grand Magic Games was in honor of all of their sacrifices and humiliation.
@@gallenberger1 Aw shucks, you flatter me. If I had to pick just one character death for the role, then Macao. I feel he was representative as the Guild Master and his character got so much worse after this point.

Jellal vs Jura was so sick. I wish we would’ve got to see Jellal finish his casting spell 😮💨
@Dougall12 Didn't think it was far reaching enough to bring up but that definitely got cut short
he literally would have unalived him
If you know what that spell does, you know it wasn't the best choice for everyone present there
I completely agree on the Garou Knights being unnecessary filler villains.
@@bangscutter Agreed. They were great early on because they really pissed you off but then one shot and done
Ophiculus is still the biggest let down ever 😭
As for crime sorciere it’s lile the MHA and One Piece problem.
@@DavidLyles I like that idea a lot! That'd be a great addition
I mean. Did you miss that part where Natsu and co relays what happened with Lucy and Yukino?
Now I'm imagining a Special Episode for Lucy similar to "History of Trunks"
@@volcanicz6739 That'd be fucking amazing
@@JDubs1464
@Sean-wv7wl
Hey, what if this could set up Hisui eventually pardoning and book ending the Oracion Seis and Crime Sorciere's redemption arcs?
Not to mention Twilight ogre were jokes. They got trashed when the gang returned and even moreso when Makarov dealt with them.
It was just kind of avoid the random guards
And then the person who did have beef with him, wasn’t really hunting him throughout the yard they were just someone who would go after him after the tournament,
Okay, regarding Lucy and Yukino’s capture, it wasn’t Arcadios that did it, but a guy that was trying to stop him from using the Eclipse Gate.
Good video..... personally, I think Tartaros is the best arc in the show
@WinstoneKachingwe Nothing wrong with that! My opinion doesn't mean anymore than yours does. Plus, that's my second favorite 😎
I love GMG but it does fall flat for even more reasons, to name a few:
*Sting Giving Up:* I'm not calling it bad writing, but it does not feel satisfying as a conclusion to this grand tournament that the final showdown is a verbal foreit.
Second one: *Kagura Unsheathing Sword*
Hiro undersold Kagura's fight with Erza.
Couldn’t agree more. Best fairy tail content channel
@@jefflong5831 High praise
There was also this small interaction whereby Mirajane noted how Yukino resembles Lisanna. It gave me ideas that there would be some development for Lisanna and Yukino individually or two of them maybe bonding over older sisters or something.
Some examples might be:
1) Mira pays more attention to Yukino, maybe just out of concern, and it triggers Lisanna to thinking she's lost that attention from Mira, subsequently giving her some spotlight to shine.
2) Maybe some backstory as to how Yukino got Ophiucus from an attempt to find her sister.
I know they are background characters who probably don't need these filler plots, but I just feel many a times Hiro initiates some possible side plot and then let it fall flat
@@furnekkin Interesting idea!
Do yall think there will be another grand magic games in the future ?
@abhishekbithioo1760 I doubt it unfortunately
Romeo definitely should have been a part of the grand magic games. It would have been really cool to see Romeo train with Natsu before the competition and actually see him progress more as a character since he looks up to Natsu.
Romeo wasnt even natsus level before the time skip. That’s begging for them to lose.
My guy that's what the whole time skip is for so Romeo could have progressed within that time span and then trained with Natsu. If Wendy can do it he could do it
May not be it but you got that Keys of the Starry Sky arc that's in the anime(and canon) so there's something that resembles it.
This is definitely one of if not my favorite arcs, just because of how much Natsu popped off throughout. That being said, I still have my gripes with this arc, mainly with how Lucy was done dirty
Her match with Flare was one thing: good setup to show how cheap Raven Tail was. Side note, I agree with what you said on leveraging that even more then saving Laxus kicking their asses for the end, which could also help Ivan's writing fwiw
Flare I can let slide, but her being completely helpless against Minerva to this day still pisses me off so much.
Lucy isnt the main character or protagonist. And you’re literally stating Lucy should be Erza’s equal.
I mean what did you expect her to do against someone who could manipulate space and literally stole her keys?
I mean you’re expecting someone who relied 10 billion % on her pokemon to actually be as physically strong as Erza. Which if you remember. That’s why Minvera forced Kagura and Erza to battle. She could somewhat handle both of them but was kore confident 1 v1. And by that point Erza was using her basic Erza strength.
@@DarkEclipse23 I never said Lucy should be Erza's equal, and her being equal to Minerva wouldn't make that the case either. Erza was worn out from her fight with Kagura, yet still defeated a healthy Minerva, she's definitely much stronger
I never said Lucy had to win, all I wanted was for her to put up more of a fight and not seem completely helpless as she did.
@Sean-wv7wl That was pretty silly albeit also realistic
See my biggest change is if they're going to have 6 teams I'd say Makarov forces his hand to have Natsu compete. So the rescue team would be Wendy, Mira, Juvia, amd the thunder legion to give minor characters better suited for mental games time to shine in a psychological battle.
They also built up Natsu and Ichiya battling that we never got. It finally let us see the most handsome man go all out and gives Natsu a good fight for the Arc facing one of Erza's old rivals
When was Natsu fighting Ichiya and Bacchus ever hyped up?
@@zeroxenoverse9251when Bachus was first introduced Natsu was the main guy wanting to fight him. Then Lucy and Gray thought they'd have to wake up Natsu to fight Bachus cause they tried making even match ups
Then when fairy tail took first place after the dragon slayer fight Jura said he wanted to fight Laxus, Lyon said he wanted to fight Gray, Kagura wanted Erza, then Hibiki, Ren, and Eve wanted Gajeel, and Ichiya wanted Natsu.

@@DarkEclipse23 Laxus definitely deserved to be the one to end it, but itvwas done prematurely
Gauntlets until Erza ruined it for everyone 😂
Not to mention Mashima was more focused on Sabertooth.

I.cant.beleive.how.the.guild.fell.apar/.when.they.were.misding.for.7.years.
Gajeel isn’t natsu. The majority dont care about natsu. Especially since that was natsu’s last big einning fight.
Cause Future Rogue is possessing the present Rouge which is not the same level.
So making Raven Tail stronger is a must 🤔
@@fubuki5hiro764 Definitely! We're on the same page
I agree with all of your points except the Raven Tail one as if Raven Tail wasn't disqualified then Fairy Tail still would have been split in 2 teams making things more complicated but Raven Tail should have had more screentime till the final day (Although it would have been fun to see Raven Tail and 2 Fairy Tail team in final day)
I think you could still find a way to merge them into one team, but that's a good point, and not something I thought about
Your messing the theme of the story, this why even tho anericab media has great animation they fail, they don’t adhere to a theme. The story it’s about fairy tail.
Hence why focusing on sabertooth makes the story boring if we focus on them it’s from fairy tail POV. Not about the taking the top spot from sabertooth but about the taking the top spot.
The knights are there because they are important in the original timeline. The event of the OG timeline are Implied as to Lucy still being in jail this means during the whole,e thing Natsu and crew were busy fighting the knight, hence why they never got to Lucy
And the death aren’t shown because that part of the story needs to make sense with future Lucy ending, the whole story from the future is her story and when it end it ties up to her.
Side note sting giving up is the point of GMG if sting never gave up he would had been weaker then the fairy tail member left behind

@ushijimawakatoshi1429 Yeah the fight was really disappointing
I mean it’s fairy tail. Being stupid and silly is most of the series in a non-serious situation.
I mean if you hate fun and funny that much I hear berserk is a nice trip. Even claymore. Why are you even watching fairy tail if you weren’t expecting it? It’s like watching one piece and after being half way in you’re still disappointed with how goofy Luffy is during a fight.
True but problem is mangaka doesn't pre plans, they usually go with flow with major plot points unlike us who have all info about show
@@Siddharth-od6qk That's true. I've heard Mashima did a ton of that with Fairy Tail
@@thefanwithoutaface8105 I agree this would help
Then you never understood the point about Raven Tail’s existence. It was the closure for Laxus and Makarov that started the Battle of Fairy Tail. It was his story to conclude.
@@DarkEclipse23 That's a shitty explanation. What closure? Beating up a couple of goons with no satisfactory resolution.
Wait, the FANS created the Garou Knights and Mashima had just decided to add them into the show? That’s sounds crazy, but it’s also cool of him to do💀
(Btw, were they in the manga or nah?)
@msxd1280 They were for a few pages
Make the Grand magic games its own arc with Raven claw. Then give hints to the Eclipse arc. Games end then Eclipse stuff happens
That way the garou knights can be useful in the eclipse arc
Nah the best Arc is Tartaros arc. They barely win this war against Demon. Cause the goat Acnologia wiped up everything.
TBH, the Eclipse-Executioners plot-part line is so confusing up to this point (I've been reading FT since 2013).

I agree that Grand magic games is one of Fairy tails best arcs. But for me, Tartaros is their best arc. There was so much emotion and the fights were amazing. I mean I like GMG but I don't think Tartaros can be topped.
@@blazingdance3612 Nothing wrong with that!
Tartaros is my favorite but gmg is no2 I loved tower of heaven and final arc had so much potential which made me sad
@Orangeisanameofloyalty Fairy Tail has some great Arcs and it's all a matter of preference for #1
I really like this arc, but they are just some things I would like to see them change like Laxus losing to Jura would be great for tension and having some of the fairy tails members lose in the final match.
@@ninjanarutonightman Those would've been interesting dynamics to play with

True but. Only Cana on Mira’s team could flaunt Fairy Glitter. I mean at this point im surprised she doesn’t just keep it.
Fairy tail was natural and great till the phantom arc after that I don't know
best arcs? oh you mean the war against alvarez, it was some hype and dice... around till they decided elfman and lisana would defeat ajeel in talk no jutsu ("what you'r family too"?)
although it had the weakest point of fairy tail... you know when fairy tail said "we have allies from other guilds" and we seen every member of other guild walking the streat.. takes literly 10 seconds for each character.. include sabertooth exceeds and granny)
Mira vs Jenny 😂
I mean with the big finale you can’t spend the limited events and fights on ONE guild.
In the end these are just my ramblings. :0 aside from a few bits I never really felt bothered much by Fairy tail’s structure 😂
Thank goodness you're not the one writing it🙏

@@i.i368 Also a great arc
I'd say the GMG is one of the worst arcs
1. Sets up that mages have gotten way stronger since Natsu and the others were at their peak, suggesting they will all be more challenging for them to face, yet guilds like Blue Pegasus and Quatro Cerberus are portrayed as ineffective clowns, Mermaid Heel has one decent mage, Raven Tail seems dangerous but gets utterly bodied, and Sabertooth seems to be unstoppable but then we see them get effortlessly wrecked
Same with Yukino annd her 13th Key, hyped up to be this terrifying force, only to get one shot and never used again
@@thefanwithoutaface8105 Nothing wrong with that opinion. You have some valid points in there
I think the issue is that the blue pegasus and lamia scale already looked bad compared to Fairy Tail before then, so they needed a bigger threat, and they made 1, but portrayed 3 or 4.
(The heart)
