"Frieren" is pure obsession and love. I've never been able to watch such a wonderful series before, and excitement and goosebumps alternated so consistently. Probably the best anime of all time on so many levels. Thank you for the video!
Great discussion man. Another cool perspective I see with Himmel is that you could even make an argument that him not having a family and growing old alone is a tragedy. However, despite that, he was undoubtedly the most content person in a story full of immortal elves and demons. He went through his entire life unloved and unvisited by the love of his life and yet died happy and fullfilled after just one last small trek with her to see a meteor shower. Mirrors how he, despite growing up as an orphan and failing to be the prophesized "chosen one", still pushed through in saving the world and helping everyone he meets in even the most insignificant ways WHILE ALSO having fun during their vast 10 year journey. Finally, a cool aspect of this show's theme is that it doesn't just say that immortality is bad, since Sein's story counterbalances that. No matter how long your lifespan is, if you don't cherish the moments in it, you'll end up with regrets and pain.
The scene when Himmel gives Frieren the ring will FOREVER be etched in my mind. Is it a proposal? Is it love? Is it _unrequited_ love? Is Frieren clueless? Is it Hope? So many unanswered questions played so beautifully in just one single frame but incredibly emotional. Beyond masterpiece.
My understanding is that the workload on the series was so high that they got other studios and animators to do various bits and pieces to help out. Not idea if Mappa was one of those.
I can hear the german. Good video quality brother, nice cadence in tone and generally enjoyable video! You glanced over some important aspects of the anime but honestly for a channel of your size it's amazing.

It can be somewhat sad sometimes - more like "bittersweet" - but the central themes are positive and uplifting, insofar as something as mellow as Frieren can be. It is not really a sad show overall, IMO.
I really teied to watch this, but using the germen pronunciation just for the names was so grating on the ears I had to stop 2 minutes in. I just couldnt take it. If videos are uploaded using the dub cannon pronunciation let me know.
@Sane7777 yeah, but the video is in English... the same names/words are pronounced differently based on the languege being spoke, not the languege the word comes from.
@guywithinterwebs then we could assume this is his local pronounciation and everything is right? But another point: when no one gives a f* about what the word is, we create someone who says Frieren and Fern exactly the same and no one knows about whom they talks (yes, I've seen someone) Well, in the end either pronounciation is fine as long as everyone can understand you, I just think in the case of Names (yes I know those are just fictional characters) its respectful to at least try the meant pronounciation 🤗

"Mappa knocked it out of the park with this one!"
That's pretty amazing given that it's _MADHOUSE_ that's responsible for the series. (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻

I'm just glad that Madhouse is signed up for season 2.

Please stop pronouncing frieren like that
The character namens are German (Frieren =freezing,Himmel = Sky ..), so his pronunciation is right but i understand it sounds strange for non Germans

@@guywithinterwebsNo, I am amazed that finaly some one has the right pronounciation! I think it shows respect to try the correct one
@Saki0hime that's just not how language works. Words are localized regionally

Keep coming back, well get them right for sure... Or not ;-)
What do you mean mispronouncing? Hes literally using the german pronunciation lmao.
@@Jeahy.While speaking english. The show itself uses the english pronunciations.
