He was cunning and thought that if he attacked the judge, the whole of United States would really believe he had a mental issue. He probably use to do things like that to outsider, and get away with it due to emphaty. Unfortunately for him, the court was the worse place he could have tried that. Now he is slowing beginning to realize he has probably made the worst decision of his life.

He didn't see these coming - he thought he was going to get away with the courtroom outburst LoL when he was sentenced for the original charges. The entire justice system, including law schools, have probably been waiting for a textbook case of "maintaining legitimacy and authority of the justice system", and the dude just became that case but he is not fully comprehending how famous he would become :) We are looking at 30-life. The original sentence was, what, 12 months? LoL.

@tjmurphy2567 True. It's prosecutors that either accept or refuse charges on suspects. Then the plea bargaining begins between prosecutors and defense attorneys. If no plea bargain can be reached, the case goes to trial with either a judge or jury deciding whether the person is guilty or not guilty. If found guilty, either the judge or jury decides punishment.
Prior to all that, though, the judge decides the bond amount. And many give these violent criminals low bonds or zero bonds.

No they weren’t in court then because he wasn’t in custody. They’re specialist SERT officers, like a SWAT team. They’re only called in for extreme cases like this guy. Most criminals aren’t dumb enough to attack a judge.
