"willful premeditation" is a term not understood by the lay people? I saw the video. They saw him cycling then they said hit him then they did and he died. They did not mean to kill him but also did not appear to care that he died. The the very least is second degree or manslaughter. If they were out doing this as a gang initiation, they filmed their crimes, then they need to have a gang enhancement too. Treat them as Adults with Adult time but also charge their gang member parents a large restitution.
The judge better make a mockery of these two and make them an example of why just because you’re a teen or 18 doesn’t mean you can do whatever you want and just get a “slap on the wrist” without dealing with any consequences… The kid even said “watch I’ll be out in 30 days” to the cops who arrested him. They think it’s a joke. They think because one is 16 and one is 18 that they’ll just be let free with probably probation. The judge needs to make it clear that’s not how the world or the justice system works and they should be held to the highest level of accountability. Max sentence. Life without parole or at least no parole until they’ve served at least 30-40 years. Idc if they’re “kids”. Normal well behaved kids don’t steal cars and then run down cyclists while laughing and recording it like it’s a game. They made their choices and now they need to deal with them, no leniency for them at all. A long harsh sentence will also make other teens and young adults rethink their decision before ending up spending the rest of their lives in Prison.
Why would you expect any different from a young person who hasn't been taught or parented to respect others and behave properly? This is what parents are producing today.
For Gods sakes. There's plenty of kids who experienced horrendous abuse from their parents who don't commit crimes like this. These two young men are psychopaths and psychopaths are born not made.
I have no idea why they are wasting so much time on this. The video evidence is indisputable as is their obvious lack of remorse. These two are guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and should be locked up for life.
No. But he realizes our freedom requires the state to prove it's case. And in order to do that the defense must look for flaws in it. Damn that’s racist af! What? Tom, Dick, and Harry’s don’t commit horrible crimes? They’re monsters, don’t make it a race thing
A year before these monsters are trialed ?? A year !?!?
their parents must be proud

Their just waiting for that welfare check !!!
I’m diagnosed with BPD so I don’t want to diminish what mental and behavioral disorders actually are, but dismissing the charges? There’s video evidence of their guilt and even with my issues I’m aware of right and wrong, I’m aware of my choices. That kid appears very aware of everything and is trying to use a diagnosis as an excuse
Unfortunately there are far too many of these types of teenagers these days no moral compass and not even the basic standards of civilized behavior Also this defense of mental problems for everything has got to go accountability has to come back or civilization as we know it is through
It's not just teens, numb nuts.
It’s because its all about the WELFARE !! Take away the WELFARE and no more children !! Nobody has the right to make WELFARE a career !!!!!
The young generation (Gen Z) is much better than the old generation (Boomers)

In an odd way this retired Sheriff put 2 more thugs in jail.
They should get an additional 10 years for being who they are…no mercy
These 2 teens should both get life without parole. Bottom line.
All prisoners should have boot camp like haircuts for sanitary reasons, and discipline
Doesn't work...Obviously.
And hard labor for their entire sentence.
Especially if you have a pile of turds on your head!!
LMAO!@@alexanderleslie4226
Those two future serial killers deserve zero leniency.
So much for being out in no time......
The worst part about this case is that the homicide is being treated as particulartly heinous simply because the victim was a retired police chief, meaning that if he had been a janitor for 30 years, his life wouldn't have mattered as much. That's a real kick to society's nuts, in my opinion.
Somewhat agree. I definitely think cops lives are treated differently than citizens. But part of the heinousness of this case isn't who the victim was but that the man was killed basically for sport. That really is a heinous aspect.
It's being treated as heinous because it's heinous. They made that clear for everyone to see.
Agreed, bet he was a bad cop too. Like the kind who harasses working class ppl and has no courage or accountability.
@@joyleff790 I mean "heinous" as in an aggravating factor for sentencing purposes, not as in anyone's individual definition of "bad."
No, that's just being mentioned to influence the audience. The charges are the same as they would be for a retired janitor.
Nov. 2024? That's nearly a whole year for his family to get justice 😔
there are lots of evidence and procedures to go through.
They’ll be passed around by the big fellas in the meantime, not walking around free.
Staying in Clark County jail until then. Not a picnic I understand

@@TimefortheApocalypse and I don’t want to support them !!
So tired of people trying to use mental illness as justification for violent behavior.😡
There’s no way in hell this case was “ever” getting any legitimate shot at dismissal…
True but if he doesn't put everything forward they can win on appeal later. I think defense is doing a good job.
PURE EVIL!
The judge looks absolutely disgusted by the defence.
Jesus, another year of these scumbags' antics for just the trial to even START! I can't imagine the victims' families waiting so long for justice!
AGREED !!
The defense attorney has absolutely no shame. There are some actions that are un defendable .
Freedom requires the state prove it's case. The defense is truly part of that.
It's his job to defend the criminals and not pass judgement on them, unfortunately.
he's a public defender who was assigned to the case, its his constitutional duty to zealously represent them as best as he can seeing as they pled not guilty. Leave the man alone.
@@jojothetasmaniansassmonkey8866 Thank you. James comment pisses me off and just shows the ignorance of society. You think this poor public defender wanted to land this case? Leave him alone.
Just accept it as part of the process and be happy they didn't call Saul.
Not laughing so hard now after some time in jail. They thought they were going to be out in what 30 days? A slap on the wrist is what the one killer said in the back of the cop car. The reason they did this stuff is they believed they would get off light because of their age. It was planned and there is no remorse whatsoever for the crime.
his lawyer should be ashamed
They will get their karma when they go to prison
Street creds for offing an LEO. Already got their lifer tats in advance! Dead-end kids much?!
The judge knows how to take that smirk off their face
Their single mothers must be so proud of them , but now they can spend time with their absent fathers
And get their welfare taken away !!!
You think psychopathy is a result of a single parent household? Hahaha! What if a women is widowed? The child is immediately a psychopath? Makes zero sense what you're saying.
@@meghancass3187 just look at the % of men in prison who grew up in fatherless homes, not all have psychopathy just problems with behavior which leads into getting involved into criminal activity, having two mentally/ financially ready parents helps. good genes are the other half
DO NOT RELEASE THEM ON BOND PRE-TRIAL!
How do those stun belts and stun cuffs work in cases like this one? These two are inflicting more harm to the victims' families.
The client rolls his eyes when his lawyer speaks about his mental illness
They ran a man down and killed him with their car, and the judge is somehow put off by their lack of respect for courtroom decorum.
Claiming mental illness - when a defense attorney has nothing to use for the defense. . . .
Minimum 25 yrs to life!
Attorney should be held accountable for the behavior of clients. If they act up then attorney goes to jail too.
A VERY, VERY, VERY LARGE restitution.
Nov 2024, that's a lot of time for "in jail" justice to take place.
That poor defense attorney doesn't even want to be there.
I have no idea why they are wasting so much time on this. The video evidence is indisputable as is their obvious lack of remorse. These two are guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and should be locked up for life.
"Taking aim"?
More like baby talking and not putting blame on them.
More of our fatherless youth. Quality individuals.
How assuming! Add: I would have preferred to not have a father than the one that was extremely abusive.
It's difficult to imagine that these youths have no vision of the future and would throw away their lives for a video
Check out the video games they constantly play! JMHO
That poor PD.
He is trying to find a defense, to do his job, and people silently laughed.
Even the Accused is surprised.
PS it's not going to work.
These scumbag lawyers crack me up. Does he really want this monster roaming free?
No. But he realizes our freedom requires the state to prove it's case. And in order to do that the defense must look for flaws in it. He also realizes his clients behavior in the court is proving the governments case and showing both judge and jury the remorseless nature of his clients. He knows this is pretty much an open and shut case but if he neglects his job they can appeal later and go free. Trust the system, they aren't going free. They will probably get life and their courtroom behavior will go a long way in making that happen.
Yes, yes he does.
These guys better get life in jail without parole
This judge should be taken off this case. She actively aided the defense by making those statements about respect in the courtroom. Those kids have every right to make themselves out to be the monsters they are in the courtroom, & the jury should be able to see it. The prosecution should also have the opportunity to collect all of that behavioral evidence to use against them when the trial is underway.

In cases like this, that they have video evidence. The case should proceed faster. Dont give those 2 any excuses.
In cases like this the trial should be run in a way that gives the defendants zero grounds for appeal later. They are way too dangerous
