This song came out exactly 198 years after the British burned the white house in the war of 1812. The sequel song to this is Fires Far. Ignite the fires far. Illuminati confirmed.
When I heard this song a while ago, my only thought was it can't be that bad. Now, after playing a little bit, my only thoughts are this song explains the game extremely well.
Gavin, I just want to thank you for introducing me to some awesome games. I saw a review for this at Cinemassacre a LONG time ago and said "wow, this is cool!" But then I saw this video, and I felt strangely compelled to buy it. Now it's my favorite game, and I'm part of one of the best fandoms out there. This, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Skyrim, and Bioshock Infinite all entered my lonely life because of you. Thanks, you're more trusty than any review site.
Encountering meme characters online during jolly co-operation was the best part of these games. I once ran into a Nigel Thornberry named "Smashing" who used maces in DS2. I myself had a Samurai Jack(Robes+Black katana) and a Pippin from Berserk (full plate + blacksmiths hammer).
So this song is still great and I actually find it running through my mind on a regular basis but comparing it to Embers Rise really shows Gav's progression as an artist from "Yeah, this guy's pretty good" to "HOLY HELL, THIS GUY IS SO GOOD!"
I completed the main story line for DS 3 recently. I see this song in a whole new light and grimace at my disastrous attempts to avenge my frequent deaths, especially since at lease 10% of them were because I tried to avenge my death.
Games easy make a suicide run into the graveyard pick up everything get the sword and then run back to the shrine and die and your good just put all youd points into strength until you can weild the sword.
Tartar No I would definetly say rage, rage is most certainly what made me chuck the game back into the box and sell it back to gamestop again... I'll eventually play it again but I need to give it a break before it made me permanently hate games... lol
Manga God You don't get it. Rage is being angry at something not succeeding. When you rage, you get the will to continue. Misery is when you realise that something is impossible and lose the will to continue. Therefore it is rage that keeps one going. You're just misunderstanding your feelings.
"For every step you take Is just one more fatal mistake So you must learn to take the torture in your stride" - Nothing describes my life better then this lyrics
You tried to make Gwynevere YOUR BRIDE! But you stepped into Anor Londo and then YOU DIED! When you try claim what's thine and finally defeat Smough and Ornstein And accidentally find out that chest wasn't BONA FIDE!
I love this. Not only is the song catchy and hilariously accurate, but you combined it with a totally appropriate gameplay montage. Well done. You have made a true anthem for chosen undead everywhere.
You know, I just started playing Dark souls recently, and every time I’m going around a corner in a new area I have “now you creep around each corner terrified” go through my head. I’m pretty sure it might have even saved me on occasion because it reminds me to be cautious even if I don’t see anything. . . Also I hate ghosts.
Get up to take a piss and then YOU DIED "Dinner is ready!" Aww fuck YOU DIED A real life interaction; one moment of distraction is enough to kill your mojo and your pride
Irony of this game is the fact that evenvthough it is fantasy and all how you die is more realistic then 99% of all games. You get hit with an arrow you are pretty much death unless it is a non vital part hit and you'd still be harmed and such. Hit with a sword? Dead or wounded etc
You haven't played the game have you? You still have a health bar and the only "vital" area for an arrow to hit is the head and that just increases the damage slightly and stuns you. So you can still get impaled and get back up if you have the HP.
If so, then please explain how I lose only about 5% of my health when I get hit by a crossbow bolt. Yeah, the game is a lot more realistic in the death aspect than many "realistic" games, I'll give you that. But in the end it's still an RPG, so you can just get heavy armor and lots of health and you can mostly ignore the early enemies. I recently started playing as a Knight and sometimes when fighting weaker enemies I don't even bother to evade or block their attacks, I'll just take the hit and smash their face in.
HaxPikachu Heavy plate armor was meant to deflect arrows, swords, spears etc etc, it's only weakness is supposed to be blunt weaponry and even that is only the impact power so non lethal. Added to that longswords VS Heavy plate armor would mean Heavy platearmor wins unless the one with the Longsword is half swording or using the hilt of his blade as a blunt weapon. Even simple chainmail can withstand a lot of impacts.
Unchained Irony True, but crossbows are actually pretty devastating. But I guess the things that actually break the realism for me are the bosses. I can literally just stand in front of the Taurus Demon who's swinging an axe that's bigger than my character. It's just ridiculous when a giant demon does an overhead swing that could crush you into a bloody puddle and yet you raise your shield and just take the hit. If we're going for realism, the bones of your arm and back could not withstand a hit like that. Sure, the shield would prevent the axe rending you in half (assuming the shield would stay somewhat intact, which it probably wouldn't), but instead you would just be crushed under the sheer weight. The bosses are pretty much the most unforgiving part of the game, but blocking their attacks is not realistic at all. And if you don't even block, you'll still survive the attack if you have enough armor and health.
Once I restored my humanity, only to immediately fall through the ground and die. That, and the time that an enemy was able to hit and kill me through a wall, are my worst Dark Souls experiences.

Since you remade another old Dark Souls song, how about remaking this song of yours that got me hooked on the franchise, to begin with? Ah also thank you for the decade of music, you've consistently added color to my life.
I like almost every song on this channel and this by far is my favorite. It combines the epic tone and feel of most of your songs with the best lyrics.
You know what I want? I want a game that doesn't focus on strategy at all. A game that throws patience and thought out the window and rewards the player for being reckless. Where you're encouraged to charge headfirst into every situation and just blow shit up to look awesome. A game that exists just for the sole purpose of wrecking shit. I DON'T CARE IF THE GAMEPLAY WOULD SHALLOW, I DON'T CARE IF IT'D BE EASIER THAN A DAMN KIRBY GAME, I WANT IT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love this song for so many reasons, and this is one of them: I love how you snuck the main tune of the song in to several of your other soulsborne songs. I think it's a fun easter egg.

I remember pirating this game 4 years ago when I was 14, this song played as it was installing with Artorias in the background. I will never forget this game, I was unaware what masterpiece I was about to experience.
Absolutely my favourite Dark Souls song, Lord vessel is a good second but Miracle of Sound has always been the best at capturing the feeling of his subject without having to relay on specifics.
Sif beat me quite a few times, and it didn't even feel good beating her, I mean when she can barely walk and fight anymore and you have to beat her to get to the four kings and just knowing her lore ;-;
Thomas Scally Even sadder is apparently if you learn about the lore through Artorias of the Abyss, then get to the battle with Sif, he'll actually give you a little bow/head-tip before the fight. Doesn't want to, but knows he has to.
Getting parried by a skeleton has to be the most impossibly embarrassing thing in Dark Souls. Seriously, I've fought thousands of the blighters and crushed them into meal for my bread and never once got parried...

@@kudosbudo yea "rerelease" culture is crazy these days. Nothing can recreate that first experience when you get to explore and have no idea what awaits in your adventure.
This song came out exactly 198 years after the British burned the white house in the war of 1812. The sequel song to this is Fires Far. Ignite the fires far. Illuminati confirmed.
Feeling deeply concerned
AND THEN YOU DIED!

Tom Magennis that is quite cunning of you
This song inspired me to get into the series. "Brave you may be, you think that your mind is tough"...

P1NK FLUFFY UN1C0RNZ Oh, I got the game years ago, loving DS3 despite only recently fixing poise.
You forget that anything is possible - as long as you PRAISE THE SUN! \[T]/

This sounds like something that would be in a Tim Burton film.
Though I'm sure someone has said that already.
Or a Don Bluth movie.
This will be real life, fairly soon.
Dark Souls is the pure definition of hitting a brick wall with your head until it breaks.

A graveyard to explore! :D
HA HA! XD
*DENIED!!!!* >:D
i read your comment just as that line played
Favorite part XD
I just bought Dark Souls today. I just got to the graveyard, and because I suck at games normally, have already died 39 times(yes, I'm keeping count).
go right not left that way leads to a easy boss but then the 1 of the end game bosses
and you cant even fight him cause of the golden fog
Tectiva
graveyard is one of the last areas you go to :)
"Learn to enjoy the bloodshed and butchery"
That's how I got into this game.
Liek if you die every tiem.
I got 99 deaths but a fair death ain't one.
TenebrisNemo wtf. All deaths in dark souls are fair
Not all, but the most ;)
Sir Dancelot That sounds like pudipie
Played Dark Souls for the first time today.
Finally understand the song.
now we need "You died, Remastered"
So this song is still great and I actually find it running through my mind on a regular basis but comparing it to Embers Rise really shows Gav's progression as an artist from "Yeah, this guy's pretty good" to "HOLY HELL, THIS GUY IS SO GOOD!"
A little short, but this song is just too perfect and so damn catchy. I could listen to it all day.
When my boyfriend plays dark souls, I sing this. When he died fighting skeletons, I said "HAHA DENIED!"
+Creampuffization I would like a girlfriend who did that. o.O Haha
Best girle
You are precious
Don't mind me just a big ass wolf with a sword
a graveyard to explore haha DENIED
I fucking died at that part
the funniest thing is that I actually did get denied at the graveyard.
fuck them skelebros
Silverman not literally for gods sake.
Soooooo, you died?
Hawkpath1337 mmhmm
I completed the main story line for DS 3 recently. I see this song in a whole new light and grimace at my disastrous attempts to avenge my frequent deaths, especially since at lease 10% of them were because I tried to avenge my death.
I'm beginning my adventure with Dark Souls later this month. This song tells me I'm gonna have the time of my life.
Games easy make a suicide run into the graveyard pick up everything get the sword and then run back to the shrine and die and your good just put all youd points into strength until you can weild the sword.
Kazmistrz1993 Don't use the Drake Sword. Unless you wanna be a casual.
Stannis The Mannis well shit, I already beat 90% of the game with it D:
Ignore him if the game gives you something to make it easy you are able to take it I mean it's not like dark souls is hardcore.
Tyler Staub Nah, I'm just messing around for the first playthrough. I'll be doing a second one with a different build and a different weapon.

Oh my god that's the best name ever.
This game tests ones will to keep going. Gain 100,000 souls then YOU DIE. But, after a bit of rage, get up and keep going
It's not rage that makes one quit, it's misery and sadness.
Tartar Imminent Sorrow
Tartar No I would definetly say rage, rage is most certainly what made me chuck the game back into the box and sell it back to gamestop again... I'll eventually play it again but I need to give it a break before it made me permanently hate games... lol
Manga God You don't get it. Rage is being angry at something not succeeding. When you rage, you get the will to continue.
Misery is when you realise that something is impossible and lose the will to continue. Therefore it is rage that keeps one going. You're just misunderstanding your feelings.
Tartar When I rage over and over, I stop for a while, and I tell myself I will return to it later
"For every step you take
Is just one more fatal mistake
So you must learn to take the torture in your stride"
- Nothing describes my life better then this lyrics
You tried to make Gwynevere YOUR BRIDE!
But you stepped into Anor Londo and then YOU DIED!
When you try claim what's thine and finally defeat Smough and Ornstein
And accidentally find out that chest wasn't BONA FIDE!
Had this stuck in my head all week. DARK SOULS ROCKS!!!
"Come and have a go, if you think you're hard enough."
describes this game perfectly...
Get up to take a piss and then YOU DIED
"Dinner is ready!" Aww fuck YOU DIED
A real life interaction; one moment of distraction
is enough to kill your mojo and your pride
Irony of this game is the fact that evenvthough it is fantasy and all how you die is more realistic then 99% of all games.
You get hit with an arrow you are pretty much death unless it is a non vital part hit and you'd still be harmed and such.
Hit with a sword? Dead or wounded
etc
HaxPikachu I get what you mean but I never implied it was 100% realistic I said it is more realistic then 99% of games. xD
Oh this is just a treat.
Anybody else REALLY a fan of the instruments from 1:20 to 1:30?
Ethan Garen it's cool for effect, adding an instrument to go in unison with the singing, in this case the... violas? pizzicato. it is pretty good.

Once I restored my humanity, only to immediately fall through the ground and die. That, and the time that an enemy was able to hit and kill me through a wall, are my worst Dark Souls experiences.

Ah, a dark song by the scariest white people!
You could try saints row?
Oh, is that what that is? I only know Saints Row through Higher Tonight.
Hatred is coming out in 2 months or so and it's exactly what you need
Goat Simulator? :P
And I'd second the more recent Saints Row games for that as well.
[Prototype 2] ?
I love how relevant Nito is during this.
I love this song for so many reasons, and this is one of them: I love how you snuck the main tune of the song in to several of your other soulsborne songs. I think it's a fun easter egg.

Disney merges with another company and it died .
Disney looms around each corner so we creep around our fandoms terrified!
dark souls is harder than dark souls 2
Because everyone who has played One first already knows basically the basics of souls games.
maybe you're right :)
Wheatley NotaMoron He is right because i heard from people who played 2 then 1 that 1 was a bit easier for them because they now know the basics (and the roll is easier to use too as far as i remember) so yeah it's just you being already familiar with the game
The Doctor ive heard diffirent things dark souls is harder then ive heard its easier so on and so forth so i just bought it even though im still playing dark souls one so far difficulty wise stays the same but you start off with only one estus flask which kinda sucks
william jacob But now there are different ways to heal yourself so it kinda evens out,the thing with dark souls 2 is that it makes one part easier and then another harder
HOW CAN YOU HAVE SUCH VARIETY, MAN?!
I can't get enough of your music, seriously.
I remember pirating this game 4 years ago when I was 14, this song played as it was installing with Artorias in the background. I will never forget this game, I was unaware what masterpiece I was about to experience.
This song interestingly applies to Game of Thrones too...you died, all of you died...
But we are not men.

Absolutely my favourite Dark Souls song, Lord vessel is a good second but Miracle of Sound has always been the best at capturing the feeling of his subject without having to relay on specifics.
12 years! Still good, though.
Dying to Sif... what a scrub.
Watch out, we got a badass over here

I dunno i beat Sif's ass on the first try
SIf fucked me up.
Sif beat me quite a few times, and it didn't even feel good beating her, I mean when she can barely walk and fight anymore and you have to beat her to get to the four kings and just knowing her lore ;-;
Thomas Scally Even sadder is apparently if you learn about the lore through Artorias of the Abyss, then get to the battle with Sif, he'll actually give you a little bow/head-tip before the fight. Doesn't want to, but knows he has to.
This has such a likeable beat to it :3 Catchy as hell. The lyrics are top notch as well! I love this one!
Getting parried by a skeleton has to be the most impossibly embarrassing thing in Dark Souls. Seriously, I've fought thousands of the blighters and crushed them into meal for my bread and never once got parried...

Well, the video IS a montage of poor play and deaths, not triumphant death escapes.
