Learn how to make easy bricks that only look advanced for your dollhouse or miniature project. This method is fun and requires only basic tools and cheap paint.
*During the coloring process, I misspoke. I said I mixed one part red, one part yellow, two parts raw umber. Rather than raw umber, I meant to say raw sienna.

Plaster Ratio:
I used DAP Plaster of Paris. It calls for a 2:1 ratio of plaster to water. I replace 20% of the water with PVA glue (Elmer's). That works out to a 4:1 ratio of water to glue.
I have lots of projects planned ranging from abandoned miniatures, furniture makeovers, dioramas, accessories, kits and Dollhouse Miniatures in multiple scales. I also have a large Harry Potter build planned for 1" scale.

As always, your tutorial was excellent. Not only is the finished product fantastic, your narration is exemplary.
Thank you very much!
You are such a good teacher. I love the way you give different examples and show them side by side. Thankyou
You're so welcome! I appreciate that.
I've seen others use paper clay for bricks, but never with the "aging" techniques you've shown. Love them! Need to start playing with paper clay :)
I bought 13 lbs so I have lots to work with 😊
So your next project isn't a doll house. It's a doll mansion with attached stables and a gatehouse!
That's exactly right 😆
You are just my favorite!
Thank you so much 🤭
Superb thankyou!🌸
You’re welcome 😊
Great tutorial! I've been struggling with creating old brick and you have helped me solve many problems. The best part...? When you said, "Flocking awesome." I laughed out loud!
Glad you appreciated that 😆
I really liked how you varied the wall in the three different washes, it was awesome to see them all on the same piece of wall for an easier side by side comparison. Nice job!!
Thank you so much :)
Thanks for all those tips. The flocking makes such a difference, I agree!
I LOVE flocking. It's the best creation ever.
I absolutely love this brick work looks so real. I’m definitely gonna have to try this with paper clay. Thank you for this tutorial.
It looks flocking awesome! And kinda more complicated than I expected. Ha! Great tips! Thanks
It's definitely not complicated. There are lots of options for adding character to the bricks but you can do as much or as little as you'd like
Really enjoyed the tips, it turned out amazing. That cutting guide method with the craft stick and ruler is brilliant. ❤
Thank you! I'm an impatient crafter, so I'm always coming up with shortcuts and hacks
Amazing work. Thanks for share.
Thanks for watching!
I really like your way of making the imperfect bricks.
Thank you 😊 I love how this looks, and it's a really relaxing process
In this tutorial we hear the immortal words from our author, Shyra, that it looks "flockin' awesome"! 😳 AND, it does! Thanks, Shyra! Great video!
😆 Thank you! Flocking is like talent in a bottle. So easy and makes a big difference.
Great Video...Awesome Brick Wall...clever GIRL WELL DONE 👌👌👍👍
Thank you :)
Thank you so much for this. Now I really want to make a brick wall or something like an abandoned old building!!
You're very welcome! I want to make more brick, too. This technique is so much fun. I'm thinking of making a Colonial style brick fireplace. They have so much brick.
Me too but I must finish my other projects lol 😆
EXCELLENT tutorial !
Thank you so much :)
oh boy.. I have a loooooooooooooooooooooot to learn. Hope one day I can make something as good as this
You can! It's a series of simple steps. Over time, you can get better and better.
My favourite miniature brick-wall educational video.
ruclips.net/video/iqE0xu5KQs8/видео.htmlsi=t_AUmVcbbH2FD8cc
Thank you! I made this one as well with a different material (adhesive cork). You can sometimes find adhesive cork at the Dollar Tree. I got mine from Amazon. The link is in the description of the video.
One of the best videos, so many good ideas. Thank you!
Yay 🥳 Thank you so much!
Absolutely Fantastic. This will definitely be my "go to" video for making bricks and whenever i need to age or weather a surface. Obviously different surfaces will require different steps and materials but i feel you also gave tips to keep in mind during the aging process. Weathering has always been difficult for me but I feel much more confident now after watching you work. Thanks for sharing.
Glad it was helpful! ruclips.net/video/iqE0xu5KQs8/видео.html&feature=share8
This is my other DIY brick video. I used thin cork. I got mine from Amazon but Dollar Tree sells small sheets as well.
Благодарю! Очень интересная техника) буду пробовать)
You're welcome :)
It really helps to see so many examples of variables in washes, etc.
Great, thank you :) This is a very versatile technique.
The flocking technique at the end was quite inspiring, thank you.
Flocking is such a great touch. It's easy to do, but makes a huge difference.
wow it is beautifull
Thank you :)
That’s an excellent presentation and great information for my first project. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. Alan
Glad it was helpful! Have fun
Thanks for a great tutorial! Can’t wait to try your techniques. So much detail!
Have fun! Making a brick wall like this is so engrossing to me. It's so relaxing. Time just flies by.
Thank you for a fabulous video. Am going to experiment with your techniques.
You're welcome! Have fun :)
You’re totally right - the flocking is everything…..!!!!!!
Thank you 😊
I love that you did a 'sample' piece showing the different techniques side by side. Awesome video. Thank you!
You're welcome 🤗 I had a lot of fun with this.
You are a great teacher. You are concise and you are very easy to understand. You show close-ups, which is important. You show yourself actually doing what you are teaching. Not everyone does this. Great job! I know I could do this after watching your video. You should feel proud of yourself for a great job. Well done.
Thank you so much 😊 It takes a lot of time and care to film and edit.
@queencityminis Not everyone realizes that editing is just as much work as the filming. Youtubing is not as easy as some seem to think. Plus, you prob have a full-time job already. So really you are dually employed.
Absolutely! I think filming is the easiest part since I'm crafting and having fun. Editing is not nearly as bad as doing the voiceover. At least I can watch my favorite RUclipsrs while I edit!
Thank you it’s beautiful and great tips.
Thank you! I appreciate that
Thanks for the different techniques it
really shows how much a change in the wash color can make. It looks great. 👍🏻
Absolutely. I need to do more experimenting. I'd love to do mostly brown wash with some areas of black wash. I should try a really pale brown wash on the grout lines to see what it looks like.
Really helpful ! clear instructions with various samples is terrific. Thank You!!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow that looks incredibly realistic! Very nice-thanks
Thank you very much!
Beautiful! I found your various techniques very informative and easy to replicate. Love this!
Thanks so much! 😊
Wonderful, time consuming but very realistic effect.
True! It does take some time but it flies by.
Thank you for this! I actually ordered some bricks in 1/6th scale but they were really expensive and I wasn’t sure what the best way to build them would be. This is much easier and a lot more cost effective!
I'm currently working on another brick video with a completely different material and technique. It will be out Friday. You'll have a choice between which type of brick you want to make.
Beautiful work! ❤
Thanks 😊
I love bricks that look like these. Even inside a loft or apartment! Great job! 💜💜💜
Thank you! I also love bricks that look old and have lots of character.
Nice tips! Thanks!
My pleasure :)
I love how you show all the different ways to paint the bricks. Super helpful!
Thank you! I need to come up with an excuse to make more bricks soon. It's so much fun. Maybe I'll start a new project.
Flocking awesome is right!!!!✊😁👍
Flocking is like talent in a bottle 😆
Do I ever intend to make any of these amazing minis you show us?
No.
Am I obsessed with watching your videos?
Yes.
Very common! Most of my viewers don't make miniatures. They watch for relaxation and entertainment. I watch people make Dungeons & Dragons terrain. I've never made anything like that, and I don't play that game.
Thank you for all of the tips! I so appreciate your willingness to share.
You're welcome! It's my pleasure. It's so much more fun sharing miniatures with others.
That is so cool 😎 thanks for sharing 👍
You're welcome!
This would be great for my chimney on my Tudor home
Absolutely! Enjoy
Awesome techniques! Great teaching skills! Thank you so much!
You are so welcome!

멋진 작품 잘보았습니다~~^^
Thank you
flockingly excellent. i create bottle art and will be adding this technique to my bottle homes. thankyou
That sounds so cute! Have fun 😊
Excellent tutorial 💚💚
Thank you 😊
These look great! I love how you can use your inset trick to make the skill of the brick masons important, too! If it's a cheaply made building, the bricks will REALLY not be flush with each other! Vs. the good skilled workers, ha.
That's cool info! Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for this video I’m going to use your tips to build my brick wall.
My pleasure! I hope you have lots of fun. I love making brick walls with paperclay.
This was perfect. Thanks for taking your time and effort to trach us!
You're so welcome! Thank you

Brilliant tutorial thanks for sharing

Yes it was 😆
Super effects 👍🏻
Thank you 🤗
I love love love this look and all the different techniques you showed! Well done!
Thank you so much :) Making bricks this way is so relaxing.
@@queencityminis I love therapy work like this!
Thanks for all that hard work that you put in this video! Thanks for showing different examples and show them side by side! Best wishes from Switzerland ♥
You're very welcome!
This video was tricky to edit because I had so much footage and had tried so many things.
Love this and all your other videos. ❤
Yay! Thank you!
had to watch this one again...about to finally embark on some serious brick work and take your advice on using the paperclay!
That's so exciting! Make sure you make the popsicle stick tool. It really comes in handy. Essential.
Thank you! This is so helpful. I haven't been satisfied with the clay brick look on a curved surface. That paper clay seems more manageable. Yep, you are still awesome, you got me with having too much fun with the glue 😂
The paper clay is really easy to work with. Drawing the brick pattern yourself is easy but a pattern roller makes it faster. I LOVE paperclay. It's so much fun to work with.
@@queencityminis I like how fine that paper clay looks, some are a bit too...I don't know what, textured and moister maybe?
Absolute stress buster❤
Thank you so much 8
Love the tutorial, thank you for all those awesome tips. I’m going to try and make a fish tackle store for my brother. And I wanted to make the outside walls brick. So thank you so much. 🌻
That's a great idea! I love that. Have fun :)
Very goid result. Good job!
Thanks!
This is such a good tutorial ❤ Thank you
You’re welcome 😊
This one is awesome.
Thank you! I love this technique for bricka with lots of character and dimension.
That looked amazing!
I appreciate that 😊
This was the best brick wall video! Thank you so much! I’m building a miniature house, and you just inspired me to put an art studio in one room, and put a brick wall on it. 🤔
Glad I could help! My next video will be how to make egg carton stone walls. I developed a new method that saves so much time.
ruclips.net/video/iqE0xu5KQs8/видео.htmlsi=myb-Zu--jQZ1jL1c
Here's my video for cork bricks. You can buy sheets of adhesive backed cork from the Dollar Tree.
A big thank you from Texas! @@queencityminis
Wow very nice 👍
Thank you!
Thank you for creating this video! I was looking for a method of creating a stone wall using clay and this is perfect! So many videos use styrofoam but I’m so happy you showed the technique with clay🎉
That's great! I'm sure whatever you use it on will turn out awesome.
Very well done! Thank you! :D
Thank you ☺️
This is amazing! I learned so much. Can't wait to try the paper clay. You are so talented and your voice is very soothing.
Thanks so much 😊
I made some brick fronts using fast-food drink carriers. The texture is perfect. Applying craft paint hardens the bricks up significantly. I inked the edges and a bit of the front to age then up. Then I applied a coat of matte modge podge.
Awesome! Egg carton works well, too. Paper pulp products work well in general.
LOVE IT❤ exactly what I needed. Was hard trying to find the method I needed to create the effect I want. Thankyou! X
That's great to hear! I'm so happy to help.
I appreciate what you do!
Thank you 😊
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure!
I absolutely LOVE your brickwork! It is so realistic, at first I thought I was looking at a REAL wall that you was going to replicate 👏👏 really great talent! Thanks for showing us your work 🥰
Thank you so much! I love how this turned out
@@queencityminis I have a “thing” about old bricks, they have a lot to tell; if only! ☺️
I live in an old Victorian cottage and I love to touch the (red )bricks and imagine the history that they’ve seen, so your beautiful artwork on those bricks have really impressed me, so much so that I have my eye on my old dolls house .....it might be getting a facelift! 😂👏👏
Thanks once again 🌻
#itlooksflockingawesome lol omg you're the best 🤣😅😆🥰
Thank you 😊
Awesome video! Or should I say flocking awesome 😂!
Thank you 😊
Awesome 👏
Thanks 🤗
Very impressive.. Thank you for that wonderful step by step tutorial.. What kind of moss did you used..? its flocking.?
Thank you!
Yes, I used flocking. I got mine from a local hobby store. The brand is Woodland Scenics but there are lots of different brands that work as well.
