Consistently track my budget for my family of 5! Did it minus the 2 months I was on maternity leave for our new baby 😅 last lil goal of the year is replenish $6k emergency fund we used during maternity leave to supplement our income! About $2k left for the rest of the year :)
My goal for the 2024 was to pay off my husband's student loan. Didnt happen due to unexpected medical expenses, but lots of good happened! I got a substantial raise, I paid my medical bills in full without going into debt or taking from savings, and I established my Roth IRA. Goal for 2025 is to have a $12,000 emergency fund ($5,500 left to go!)
At the beginning of 2024 I was on track to hit all my financial goals, however, my mom fell ill and I spent most my savings and put myself in more debt to be able to travel across the country every few weeks to be a care taker for her. Hopefully in 2025 I can get back on track with my goals.
My biggest goal for 2024 was to hit a total savings goal of 6k, to have 6k available in cash in my accounts at the end. Unfortunately I lost my job in February so that goal wasn't achieved. But I am 1/3 of the way there. I have since started a new job and hopefully for 2025 I can make that 10k instead of 6!
My main financial goals this year were maxing out my 401K and saving 20k. With my upcoming salary, I am going to reach my goal 1 month earlier ! So happy rn :)
One of my financial goals was to get my emergency fund to $10k, DID NOT accomplish this 😂 but i did have some wins! I accepted a job offer that pays $20k more than my previous one, and with this job i started contributing to my 401k again! The year didn’t exactly pan out the way I planned it but i’m acknowledging my wins! This video is so real, as per usual and i’m grateful for the safe space you have created to talk about our finances ❤
i think emergency fund amounts depend on when/how you use it. for myself, i don’t touch my emergency fund unless it’s a situation such as losing my job or an unavoidable medical expense. if you only use your emergency fund for those situations, lowering it should be fine! however, if more things fall under your category of emergency, it maybe worth it to have more of a buffer! as always loving the content!!
I lol’ed when you recognized that you didn’t read about money as much as you wanted too cause I felt the same way last year! If this helps, one of my favorite money books is “Psychology of Money” and “I will teach you to be rich”! It’s so important to read about topics from a framework that really resonates with you
My goals were (1) To fully fund my emergency fund, (2) Open and max out my FHSA. I reached my emergency fund back in the summer and I am currently working on maxing out my FHSA!
When I was younger (I am the same age as you), I used to dream about designer handbags too. But then, I realized that I would much rather travel and go on a $5000 trip instead. I am happy I never spent any money on a designer bag, because it honestly would probably be sitting in the closet right now. I still like nice bags, but I prefer more of a mid-range designer that isn't as flashy.
I do have a couple Saint Laurent bags. And if you wear them every day they will crumble like any other bag. They are actually overpriced for what they are.
I set my goals for reading financial books too. Didn‘t manage that but I try again.😄 But my sinking funds helped me a lot and that‘s what I‘m proud of. We‘re all learning to manage pur money everyday.🥰
My goal in 2025 is to survive as a single mom of 2 young kids. 😂 My 2024 wasn't easy at all, but hopefully my dream nanny will be working with us starting January 2025 🙏 my lifeboat. Perhaps my finances will suffer a bit (a nanny is always expensive) but my physical and mental health will certainly improve. Just keep swimming.
Such a good video! Congrats Zoe, what a year🥳. Me and my bf wrote our goals for 2024 on a paper, and found it again last week! It was so interesting and motivating to read them!
At the end of 2023 I hit a major net worth milestone and for some reason set the goal to "maintain" that net worth this year because I thought that would be challenging with how much I was going to spend on traveling 10+ weeks this year (which I had dedicated savings for)... But instead here I am at the end of 2024 and I'm projecting that I'll finish the year having increased my net worth by 50% 🤯 Looks like I'll be dreaming bigger for 2025!!
I love watching your vlogs, I feel like we are so similar in our place in life! I live in Chicago, I dont have a partner but I love how honest you are and open you are. Please dont stop being you!
I wanted to close an old bank account where I paid 6 EUR per month as account maintenance fees and I switched to an online bank which pays the ECB interest on the balance. I started investing in an ETF which is what I have been wanting for years. ❤
Your budgeting video was the very first I saw this year in September and inspired me to be more serious about budgeting and clearing my debts. My goals were to pay off a loan I took out with my bank and to start paying off my car. I managed to pay off my loan and will be able to pay off my car in March 2025. My 2025 goals will be to start an emergency fund
My main goal was to learn more about finances & to grow my hysa from 15k to 30k- happily can say I’ve learned so much thanks to content like yours & I finally made it to 30k in my hysa last month :)
Saved throughout 2023 so that I could pay for college tuition. I worked evenings/weekends while going to school and I graduated debt free in June! I doubled my income from my previous job and in 2025 I am planning on saving $10k
My main goal for 2024 was to purchase a home, which I did! For 2025, hoping to reach the $100k milestone with my retirement accounts. Was hoping to ~possibly~ refinance my house to a lower interest rate as well, but I don't anticipate rates will be going down significantly this year.
I started my cash envelope journey this month! But my twist to it is that it is more of a sinking fund for a bunch of categories such as gifts, my birthday, vacation etc. 🙈
The key to knowing what your emergency fund should be is defining what you want to use it for. Personally I do not need it for income loss (yay social security). As a home owner, I have a home fund. So anything breaks or needs an upgrade, it comes from there. To me that is not an unforeseen situation. But many people do consider that an emergency. Emergency to me is natural disaster (not common here), a divorce or unsafe living environment I need to leave (that is why my husband and I both have a fund) or a medial issue not covered by insurance. As always, personal finance is very personal.
This is such a good video. And my income also fell year-on-year for the first time in 2024. That's partly because I started from a very low base, so it wasn't hard to grow initially, even when I quit my (rather low-paying) job to become a full-time freelancer. But I had a reasonably good year in 2023, and could not maintain that same income level this year, much less grow it. Definitely a shock to the system. But your video was so motivating to watch precisely for that reason. At this point, I'm not constrained by my spending but rather by my income. I live a pretty frugal life but I need to find a way to consistently grow my income, which is turning out to be harder than I thought.
i truly blame the economy 😂 for a while i was thinking that i was doing something wrong (which maybe i am lol who knows) but it also truly is/was tough times in 2024. heres hoping things pick up in 2025 💕💕 and we can find ways to work smarter not harder
My 2024 goal was to finish paying off the largest student loan with the highest interest rate: 33,030 at 7.6 % interest, balance 26,500 at start of 2024, and I make the last 1,548 payment this Thursday upon getting paid!!! :) my name is also Zoë and I’m 27, so we have a lot of similarities but I’m in the US!
One of my money goals was to finally save 20.000€ for a downpayment, that didn't happen. I put the goal down to 16.500€ and started investing more because I realised that I don't want to be a homeowner yet with all the responsibilities that come with it
My big money goals for the year were to finish saving a deposit to buy our first home and second was to pay off $5000 of my student loan. First completed (and moved in!) 🏡 second will be completed this month.
When Listening to audio books to be able to focus I have to play like sudoku or something. I also like to do a diamond painting. It I don’t have something to focus on like that while I listen my mind will wonder!
Mine was to buy less , didn't happen... I bought so many bags (vintages). I'm into bags very much.... Yep. I love my LVs, and Guccis and etc as much as my Kate Spade/Coach. I'm not in debit whatsoever but I wish I could just hold the impulsive buying. I will keep my 10k saving account even tho I'm a SAHM now.
So my recommendation for those who feel they can't sit through an entire audio book feel, is that there are a couple of apps out there that only give like a 15 minutes segment of each book that you download as an audio. That way it's only 15 minutes that you're reading into and you get to think about that 15 minute thought throughout the day. And I think some apps you can address so it can be random it can be just 15 segments of one book either way I think that would be a great beneficial for yourself if you find just sitting and listening hard beyond the 20 minute mark. If anyone knows what I'm talking about please mention them below
I never had a job in my life. My family is pretty well off and I live pretty much on investments, mostly in real estate here in California. I tried to get a job when I was 16 years old, but no one wanted to hire me, even at Target. I tried many difference places, no one. So, I was like screw it, I don't really need a job anyways. I still might find a small part time job somewhere just for the heck of it, hopefully at Disneyland. I always wanted to work there, even if it's just cleaning up.
@@chicamorena18 To be honest, it's kind of boring not working. Like, I'm bored most of the time doing nothing. That's why I picked up hobbies like bike riding at the beach. Not saying my life is hard or anything, it's just a kind of boring. No friends, no girlfriend, nothing. I might just go to college just for the heck of it, that's how boring it is.
what was one of your money goals from this year??
Maxing out my Roth IRA and I did it ❤
Spend less money on Starbucks

Pay off 15k loan
Low spend year which wasn't that successful, also save 12000 and am on track to achieve that.
