    Hey man, I’m in a trade school learning to become a diesel tech. I’m 17 and I passed my entry level ASE for T5 steering and suspension. I took my professional ASE test on 12/13 and missed passing by 2 points( Needed a 34/50 and I had a 32/50) this has helped me understand rear axel and frame diagnosis and repair as I struggled with that on my professional T5. I’ll be taking the professional again in January, wish me luck, and again thank you for helping me understand. Respect from central Florida.

      @@johnmickelson824 perhaps, truck needs to go to the shop to get diagnosed. Shitty thing is it does not do this unless you load the front end. Today I figured out that if I backed under a trailer and put some pressure on the 5th wheel and then dry steered back and forth I could make the popping noise without moving the truck. Noise is coming from under the steering box at the front of the leaf spring.

  • @tommythompson3588
    @tommythompson3588 10 месяцев назад

    What causes shimmy or a off/on bounce? It seems to change with road surface from concrete to asphalt. Drive tire wear is excellent and it’s felt mainly in the seat. Don’t seem to come up through the steering column. Truck has a junk Holland fifth wheel with rubber bushings that have a ton of slop even when new. Steer tire wear is really good and all the shocks are just over 2years old. Can’t see any obvious wear on torque rod bushings or spring bushings. No slop on the steering wheel axle ends. Western Star 5700XE Airliner suspension.

      Because after performing a wheel alignment, the tech is supposed to center the steering wheel

    • @michaeltuohy1249
      @michaeltuohy1249 19 дней назад

      The issue is that most trucks do not have an adjustable drag link. This prevents accurate wheel centering. The solution is to reposition the steering wheel. Either at the wheel or the gearbox. This is usually not a perfect adjustment, and may require re-setting the steering angle sensor on newer trucks.

      Pumps, compressors, earthmoving equipment, tractors, ships, and tons of other industries use the same engines that commercial trucks use and spin them at governed speed for hours, days, or weeks on end without issue.

      Pulls to the right ??
      Single axle? Passenger side drive axle is too far forward.
      Dual axle??
      1. Both drive axles the right sides are too far forward.
      OR
      2. The passenger side axles are closer together on that side and the driver side are farther apart
      If one steer is clearly more beat up more than the other you have one of the 3 issues listed above AND AND AND a toe in/out problem … all depends on way steer tire is more beat up
      Right hand pull and the passenger side steer is way more beat up than the driver side ??
      Too much toe in and right
      Side drive axles issues m/right side pull
      Driver side steer tire more beat up than the passenger??
      Well still a right side drive axle issue but now it’s combined with a tow out issue.
