  • Replacing a front leaf spring on my '97 379 Peterbilt.
    I''m sure there's a better way, it's just how I did it.

    Thanks for the video brother. I think I’ll try tackling this job very soon as well. What was the problem with springs that you had to change them?

      Mine snapped going over a series of bumps, going 35-40 started bouncing and "Snap".
      It looked to be partially cracked for awhile, but it wasn't where I could see it, because it was underneath the top spring.
      I would reccomend jacking up both sides even if you're doing only one side, (that would have made mine a little easier going back together).

    how much you normally torque the u bolts?

      I'm not sure on the exact Torque, but this should help.
      Grade 8
      Size Torque
      (Diameter x Thread)
      (Ft.Ibs.)
      5/8"-18 170 Ft.lbs
      3/4"-16 300 Ft.lbs
      7/8"-14 480 Ft.lbs
      1"-14 740 Ft.lbs
      1-1/8"-14 1300 Ft.lbs
      1-1/4"-14 1780 Ft.lbs
