      There will be plenty of people that give me crap for what I say in this video too. Already getting the usual NSX comments. But I agree 100%, sadly the NSX seems a little too ahead of its time, very few people appreciate what it is.

      Every reviewer I've seen has had great reviews about the NSX....dunno what you're talkin about...
      But every reviewer always ends their review with the same caveat: "....but if it was my money? I wouldn't buy one." And that's the issue. Nobody is saying there's objectively anything wrong with the car, people just don't want to buy it.
      EDIT: It's in the same exact situation as the new "Supra." It's a name everybody wanted revived but the manufacturer went about it in a way that nobody actually wanted. The name alone isn't enough to drive sales, it needs to invoke the same reaction as the original did.

      @Deez Nuts but nothing they 'changed' is completely unnecessary on this car. It's a hybrid with a turbo v6 and a dct. That sounds pretty 2010s to me, not like it's a hydrogen car that you can only fill up in 4 cities in the US.

If this is sooooooo unnecessary and it's such a bad car, why are Aston Martin and Ferrari are copying this cars hybrid layout?

    • @CarubSunn
      @CarubSunn 4 года назад +1

      @@martinlesko1521 that's not entirely true. The original name was new sportscar experimental and it aimed to create a 'ferrari killer' for less. The main problem with the price tag is that it's a $200k Acura. People dropping that kinda coin want Porsche and McLaren badges on their cars.
      I think the problem is when you revive the same name you need to invoke the same reaction as the 1st one. This doesn't do it, it doesn't live up to the name even though it's more capable in every sense of the word. It might as well be called something else because it doesn't harken back to the original much at all. It has Supra syndrome.

      @Your Name Here IMO, you're confusing what they wanted to make vs what they actually made. I think Honda also had the same confusiom. They claimed they were making cutting edge shit but in reality nothing was new, there was no cutting edge moves. Everything on that car has been tried and proven except for maybe the aero, no fancy TT setup like the supra or rx7, no fancy electronics, it was all conservative & safe. People fell in love with it because it was extremely analog. It offered a fantastic driving experience without a bunch of bells and whistles, this + high red line made it way more enjoyable canyon Carver than the 7 or supra. When Honda did the revival they made what they claimed they made in the 90's, but since that's disconnected from what they actually made, nobody was interested. The new one needed to be a "back to basics" approach, minimal gadgets and bullshit, certainly no hybrid stuff, just a high red line with a beautiful note, decent amount of power, and a 50/50 distribution. Should have gone with an NA v6 again that screams up high. They needed to invoke the same reaction as the original did, but they didn't, they made a tech based Ferrari competitor in the name of what they intended to make in the 90's and it's just something nobody is interested in. People who have easy 200k to drop want a McLaren or gt4 or something, not a Honda. People stretching for 200k will have awesome options for half the price at the 100k price point. I don't think the badge can support that price point.

Besides on reliability and build quality alone I don't think there is a close match from any of the competitors especially when considering the build quality and reliability of McLaren for example. for good reason, the new NSX is cool until you compare it with others in its price range. the only thing special about it is the driving experience, and when your dropping a quarter of a million on a car you'd hope for more than what you get. i have a feeling the NSX probably won't age well either, with exception to its hybrid system there's nothing exotic about it, and unlike the gtr almost no one will mod it because path forward to do so. the nice thing about the old NSX was that it was at least some what accessible even now days and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to fix, and it can be modded to your taste. But the new one costs as much as a small house, with an interior of a regular acura and the sound as well, and when you can buy the competition that, used is a third the price and can be suited to do anything from drag racing, half mile, circuit/sprint, daily or all the above there really isn't much reason to give it a second chance, aside from wanting the Honda badge, of which in my opinion, isn't doing that good a job of making sports cars that can carry the weight of its name.

  • @darkspark5770
    @darkspark5770 4 года назад +1

    Best part of this car that he can't mention is you can beat on this car all day at the track and drag strip and it's not only consistent but it doesn't brake! That's why I don't mind the slightly higher price tag because in the end it is way more inexpensive than other super cars with a price tag of lesser value. I've had one for over 2 years and it's still as fun as the first day and more importantly....No problems!

    Such a fantastic looking car. Saw a black one parked across from a white C8 in my gym the other day. The NSX looks noticeably smaller and as a lifelong Vette guy I think slightly better too. I also agree with Matt that I'm sure it'll age really well too.

    NsX is better for those of us living in regions with lots of sudden rain and snow squalls but can be driven daily if needed. Hell, might as well use for the school drop off since the entire cabin isn’t swathed in rich “Corinthian leather” and thus less maintenance and upkeep worries. People should be comparing this to a 918 because that car was also used as Porsche’s test bed for drivetrains and electrification tech. So for a high performance test bed, I say Why Not?

    Great review of a fantastic car. If I had $165K I'd buy one right now. Thank you. Too much time spent on visibility whenever someone reviews this car. I suppose that's because of the original. To those people that need to drive around in a bubble you can always get an 80's Mazda 323 hatchback

    One of the biggest things missing in the interior is good contrast stitching, that would make the interior look a good bit better and fee like a 200k car. Also, the silver plastic pieces for the door handles and center bezel need to be something better and possibly have a carbon option. Other than that, this car is going to be my next, I love the tech in it, I love how it drives even in comparison to an Audi R8 V10 Plus that I drove recently!
