I have to admit. Having sold Acuras back in their best years 1997-2000, and having driven all but the latest generation of the car, one thing was made very clear. It is still an NSX. The engine sounds just like it used to but with the hiss of waste gates. It was an engineering marvel back in its day and for sure is now with its new hybrid drive tech! I love how it looks and if I ever had this kind of money I would have to get one... I also remember the sound of the car giving me goosebumps just as you got!! 😂😂😂 They are amazing machines and I wish that Acura would get all of their cars back to this spine tingling VTEC cross over sounding coolness that they used to have. The NSX still has what they were all about back in the days... again you did an awesome job and I watched from start to finish!! Keep up the good work man!!

Hi Mr. Forrest. Actually, you are my first comment I made to anything on social media. Old school guy but just want to say how professional and honest you are in you review of the NSX. Awesome car. My take-away from this is Acura has incredible this engine/drive train/braking technology all woven into one technology that WORKS. Like you can hear what's going on with the engine, waste-gates, ev mode, etc..and it all works as a single operating system. Think I need to buy a t-shirt from you! hah. Thanks

This was probably my favorite review of the updated NSX. The one single thing I would really complain about this car is simply the price, even then I'm very conflicted because it is so advanced and so well designed, with very few and minor drawbacks. The only car I can think of that I would really have a hard time pitting against it imo would be the C8 Corvette, but not as it stands right now with only the Stingray but rather with the Z06 that we still have yet to learn more about. Where as the next C8 will be more powerful and generally better performing than the Stingray, I suspect the NSX will still handle better due to the front electric motors, and it's still a blisteringly fast and attractive car. I also don't think it sounds as bad as so many people claim. Great review, and idk what it is but that camera view while you were going through those twisties showed how well it handles much better than most other videos

This is my first time at your channel and it was an interesting review, but here are a few comments:
    1) Your tester had just about every option and would list for around $200,000. However, one of the interesting aspects of the NSX that no one talks about is that, especially starting with MY2019, you could order the NSX bone stock and you would be fine. Except for the carbon ceramic brakes, every other option is aesthetic (carbon fiber and/or alcantara). One of the mistakes that Acura made, IMHO, was not supplying stock cars for review. The competition changes dramatically between $157,000 and $200,000. The other point is that this car typically has a factory discount of $20,000 (MY 2019 for example) which makes it an even better buy. Used deals are even better. You are beginning to see used MY2019s with decent options and low miles break under $130,000.
    2) This car also has Android Auto, unlike Porsche which only has Apple CarPlay
    3) Acura spent a lot of time on airflow on this car so no wing would be needed
    4) The 9 speed is best thought of as 1st gear for launch control and 9th for cruising, with the 7 gears in between that you would use most of the time
    5) Storage: like so many reviewers, you talk about storage space without using a travel bag or anything else for people to get a sense of the space. Love to see if you could fit two airline overhead bags in the back or a regular golf bag. Remember that space is relative. A small space designed for my needs (Acura claims to have designed the trunk for a golf bag) is better than larger space that does not suit my needs. For example, I’d much rather throw my golf bag in a trunk that put it in and pull out of the back seat of the Porsche Turbo.
    6) There are a couple of big points with 0-60 times in this car. First, because initial launch is with the electric motors, launch control in this car can be done any number of times with no stress to the transmission. Second, because the electric motor in back is simply there for torque fill, this car in the real world is probably going to feel faster than other turbo-charged cars because it literally does not have any turbo lag.
    7) This car will handle the curves better than just about any other car because the electric motors in front provide true torque vectoring. This car pulls you through the curve
    8) You are late to the game in terms of reviewing this car and, as such, it would be nice to mention things no one tends to mention. This car is seriously complex! Even an oil change is complex and expensive! Many of the production techniques used in this car are cutting edge. All of this means that some repairs, particularly if you get into an accident, can only be made at the factory and the factory is actually setup to repair the NSX. Speaking of which, should you blow the engine out of warranty, that will cost you around $90,000! I’d think twice about anything that would void the engine warranty, like the Science of Speed JB4 that takes the HP up to 700hp
    9) In a similar vein, you mention McLaren, but not the 800 lb gorilla in the room: the C8 Corvette. One of the knocks on this car is that all the tech in this car has not produced a vehicle that is particularly outstanding in terms of most performance metrics used. Both are mid-engined, the Vette has more storage space, a removable top standard, and has a 0-60 time just .2 seconds slower than the NSX. But the Vette is a third of the price. I think the Vette raises value issues for the NSX, R8 and the Turbo. I’ll grant that these cars might be better than the C8, but are they 3 times better than the Vette??? I doubt that.
    Best of luck

    • @miketz3732
      @miketz3732 4 года назад +1

You are dead on!! Other than some weight savings the 49k worth of options does not improve the driving feel of the car. Agree HONDA should have put the basic cars in the showrooms and just have the available options hanging on the wall like Chevy did with the C8.

I actually knew all the details you mentioned, unfortunately my review would be over an hour going over all the technical details. 😕

@Just think i’m tired of people saying this car should be 70-80k. this car is priced around what the original nsx was. In 1992 nsx’ sold for around 80k….that is 161k in 2022 money.
Funny how you say these cars are sitting and no ones buying. The values of these have gone up. They sell more than msrp now…5 years later.
This car did what the original nsx did, gave you next level experience for a fraction of the price. The next hyrbid supercar up in 2017 was over a million dollars.
Did u also think a new 911 turbo im 2022 should cost 95k like it did in 1991? Lolol
Also..the badge means nothing at this level. Nobody calls a dodge viper just a 150k dodge.
Nobody calls a ford gt a dumb 500k ford.
Does an audi have the brand name to sell a 200k car? While selling 40k 4bangers?
These cars are all rare, the badge isnt as a big a deal, its about rarity.

Great review of a great car!! I really appreciate the regard you have for this car! I also really appreciate how thoroughly you familiarized yourself with the details. Certainly one of the best reviews I've seen. Great job!!
As an aside; despite the car being a great value for what you get, I suspect the price is largely responsible for the anemic sales. Honda/Acura is a mass market brand so it's hard to get comfortable with the supercar price. I think Chevy has the right idea with the price point of the C8. I hope to acquire an NSX soon... I think it's going to become a very very collectible car since it's so relatively rare.

Great review. Just for the reliability its worth the money. The build quality is amazing. Compare it to the crap GM makes, blown engines, poor body fitment, etc, Id take it over the C8 or anything from Europe.

I would buy it like other people said because of the reliability and technology alone. After owning a Range Rover and a 7 series BMW I bought a Hyundai Equus Ultimate model; I have the one that has the refrigerator in the back. It has been a great car very reliable smooth ride don't have to spend 7 thousand dollars a year keeping it on the road like range rover and BMW, I've driven it now for 5 years only had to replace the alternator labor and parts were 900 bucks. European cars have nicer materials in the cabin but are very expensive to maintain.

H O N D A is the B E S T your money can buy! Italian sport cars are over hyped but are not that reliable and especially not for that money. Japanese cars are better for your money! One more thing, that insane cornering I already experienced it way back ago with my Prelude VTEC 4Wheel Steering ;). We very enjoyed your review, thank you sir!

Don't be afraid to give it throttle in the curves. Our rdx is the same way, it prefers to be under throttle. It kind of grabs the pavement if that makes sense. Very nice review!

Nsx is ahead of it's time! I can't wait for the first line of hybrid 911s or Ferraris (suddenly the nsx weight will be right on par with the rest of the hybridise super cars) and then suddenly the New NSX will do what the gen 1 NSX did it will give same technology and performance that Porsche Lambo and Ferrari will give you but for half of the price! I would love to own one! And yes I would delay the sh*t out of it!! I love the looks and the idea that it's so technologically advance!! Ps grate video

Why are cup holders, flappy paddles etc etc so cheap???
    On a $150,000 car!!!!
Spend another $100 (or even $1,000)
They gotta make up for the fact that its Japanese so not a top brand! ie your not gonna feel that sexy driving a Nissan even if quick... 2.7 to 60!!!
    Great value but ...

Yes! Yes! Yes! You nailed it! What I've been saying all along. Everyone is misremembering the Gen 1 NSX. When it came out it was a very high tech car. But that tech has become old and ordinary and everyone views it now as some bare basic, no-frills, sports car. It WAS NOT!

such a gorgeous supercar. the nsx is high quality build. its designed and assemble in the U.S.A. The only reason the nsx didnt get as good as reputation because of its actual name. it would have been view far better if it wasnt name NSX. the car enthusiast compare this nsx to the first generation nsx. acura said its a driver car. for car enthusiast, they all want manual stick shift. in these days and age, auto is the more seeable route. with this amount of HP, auto is faster. younger generation people and even wealthy people dont really know how to drive a manual. the looks is completely difference than the original nsx. its a beautiful designed.
overall, this is one of my dream car that i can only dream of having one.

911turbo s. can drive for 250k miles with minimum cost. Local dealers can service or import shops will service without issues. But with all things about cost, the NSX is a clear winner. AWD is a clear winner in my book after my first 911Turbo. Very quick without fuss. The car is heavy feeling though compared to my lotus. Have not researched the weight for the NSX but the initial release was pretty much a flop after the performance specs came out with the price. And how can one get passed a 160k honda? It might appeal to the jdm boys but they are out buying the new corvette. The other thing is the engine timing belts verses the porsche forever timing chain. In the high mileage ones this will be a killer service issue.

Guys keep in mind that there isn’t anything wrong with Honda using curtain parts that are used in their mass production vehicles. I rather use something that has been proven and mastered through many years in their massed produced vehicles. Rather than get something that is practically a “one off piece” that can be more likely to fail.

Yeah, I talked to an owner at Maryland International Raceway, tracking his NSX. He told me he bought it by accident and glad he did. He was telling me he would drag race this all day and race it and drive it back home without any problems compared to his R8 and other high end that ran into problems all the time. Car was mean ASF. Underrated, looked over because the "H" badge
