be here now gets criticized by so many wankers but then you realise even be here now is a billion times better than most of the shit that comes out nowadays.
Be Here Now is the best album but the mix is unlistenable. Noel’s remix of DKWIM was heaven for my ears, it pisses me off they didn’t remix the entire album. I would pay hundreds to listen to it in the new remix form
I would say their peak was the month before they released this album and they was still in the glory of knebworth and wonderwall was the biggest song of the year in the world
fact is, Noel hated this album .. shame One of my favourite though .. somebody just put a new mix out of it as the same they did for Definitely Maybe, raw, straightforward sound .. and I'll be a happy man It remains excellent in my opinion
Luc ky I guess the reason for the critical ire for the third album is that it seemed they'd come on a lot by the second, adding acoustic guitar and cello to Wonderwall, piano to DLBinAnger, and a string section for Cast No Shadows as a progress from Definitely Maybe... only to then revert to earlier type for Be Here Now, with songs far too long. I always thought if they could have shortened Magic Pie to 4.5 mins, replaced My Big Mouth and Fade In-Out with 'Songbird' (magically, from the future!), and 'Probably All in the Mind', it would have been top. Further, if England had won Euro '96, we wouldn't have come down til the 21st century.
... and Songbird and All in the Mind are pretty insignificant songs in my opinion ..! After DM and Morning Glory which came out in less than a year, the world was actually waiting for a new Sgt. Pepper's with this third .. Noel ain't no from Liverpool I'm afraid :p It's clearly a cocaine-fuelled record, you've got fucking raging songs, and Liam on top, but you''ve got too much of it .. they burned their wings with this one ..!
You Bet Ya! It’s on a different level completely. At his finest and after this tour it most definitely took a massive toll on his voice for a long period. ✌️👍✌️
Having an album track and a fucking b-side as your two first songs? This shows the band at the height of their power.....what a band - best band in the fucking word ever
Such a fueled gig. They completely blew me away with D´You know What I Mean?. You just want to raise your fist and still believe that the world is yours. This band always reminds me that anything is possible. God I miss them.
GOODNESS GRACIOUS GREAT BALLS OF FIRE THIS GIG IS UNFUCKINGREAL. Im only 21 and gutted id do anything to be this age then and be 41 now. BEST BAND IN THE FUCKING WORLD
In the 90s Britain was oasis.....the country at this time was going through a golden few years...I miss it and nothing like these guys and that time will ever happen again.
These guys were so fucking keyed up and amped even towards the end of the show. They did All Around the World for 10 mins, Fade In-Out for 8 and then Champagne Supernova for another 10 mins back to back to back and killed all of them.
+StrettyHS 313 i don't think oasis is underrated at all. they go the perfect amount of recognition that they deserved. many think that they're the best, which they are :)
I was 16 when I went to this show, had seen them play the NIA in Birmingham earlier on in the year (the tour was split into two if I remember correctly). This show blew my fuckin' head off, never known an atmosphere like it!
I flew by myself from Boston to meet up with a kid from Ireland I met when he was over here in the summer to see this gig. I was a senior in high school and I've yet to see a better live show since that day and I've seen Pearl Jam, Petty, The Who, etc. The only one that even came close was when Joe Strummer performed at the Palladium in September of 2001 and Mick Jones played in Cambridge in 2008 who I got to meet and go on his tour bus but by that point i had gotten sober and its not as electric when youre not young and all f'd up with the boys.
August 21st, 1997...So nostalgic take a look at the album cover and realize that time fuckin flies...but it's good see that oasis made great gigs like this and still listen and watch as it was the first time!
Scott Curwen Yeah that's coming out later this year I think. Once Noel's main promotional stuff is done. It will be interesting to see / hear what they do with the mastering. I watched an interview with Noel where he said he was initially going to edit down the songs, but then had a change of heart. They should really capatalise on this era (underrated as you say), as this was arguably their best tour. Liam is just untouchable, and songs like the opening Be Here Now are just elevated to another level. What I'd give for the remaster to include a DVD of one of these gigs.
Scott Curwen I don't get why people hate in it. bands change and do different things all the time. this just happened to be long heavy songs. no band can write the same stuff over and over, esp when you look at their first 2 albums. I personally love oasis after 1998. I love standing through dig out
Mark DeVito actually you got all wrong mate, the 3rd album was criticized for Not Changing shit from the last 2 albums, MG was amazing because of how different and revolutionary from DM it was and BHN was just the same as DM but so much louder and boring
Adam Coe my favorite song, since I first discovered oasis in 95ish.

Noel was on point for this gig. Coked out, but on point. He's even doing some cheesy showman shit with his strumming and stance at times. So very stoned.
Vintage fucking Oasis. Before Noel started to capo every song thus losing the punch of the guitar in the process. Opening with 'Be Here Now' knocks you off your ass. Liam is singing on key and in to it, and the chemistry between Noel and Liam is still present, which made all the difference in the world. Compare this to a decade later in '08. Great line-up musically, but they never deviated from the tired opener 'Rock N Roll Star' and the band was over it. It's good they broke up. The passion was gone. But this is living proof that in their prime Oasis truly had something special.
Absolutely agree!! I've never liked how Noel uses a capo on every song these days, and he plays those crappy tinny sounding guitars. Where's the punch? Where's the energy? Where's the bravado? He evidently left it all on that GMEX stage in 1997. Cos ever since, his music has been shit with a few good ones here and there.
What an incredible gig. Band is on FIRE here. Liam's voice was the perfect mix of his youthful "clean" tone and that snarly rasp he developed during the second half of Oasis' career. And Noel with "Good Evening, town!" Always gives me a laugh.
Nothing absolutely nothing will ever come close to the 90s decade of unbelievable brit bands like oasis, verve , radio head , manics , stereophonics, happy Mondays just to name a few ..plus the unreal 90s rave scene including a nation of youth proud to be british...
I remember watching this live on MTV! I was at knebworth and a massive fan and this gig blew me away. Looking back now at the 'be here now' era it probably wasn't their best work maybe because they were using songs left over from other album sessions, off their face on drugs and touring the world! Anyway as Noel points out it sold 9 million copies! That simply can't be done nowadays!
Who even cares if Be Here Now was shit? It was a point in time, everyone was going off their tits for Oasis. It broke a thousand records and led to cocaine shortages throughout the country. How many bands could even dream of pulling off such a thing?
@ Joormachien.....i agree with you. i think SOTSOG was really good, but i was really disappointed in Heathen Chemistry. i liked almost all the songs on SOTSOG, but only liked two.....MAYBE three songs max on Heathen.
my fav OAsis gig of all time, there are a few that are up there but this one takes the cake. BEST SET LIST EVER love all the BE HERE NOW, this is the only tour they have be here now songs on the setlist and this is the best gig of the tour as far as I know.
Oasis in 1997 were revvin the utter fuck out of it. Just look at the energy. I know they were doin more bugle than a brass section but they were fucking awesome!!! Noel Gallagher trying out his Jimmy Page skills here and not failing a bit!!!

Quality - don't recall having seen/heard 'D'you know what I mean' live before. They ditched it millennium onwards. Best Liam vocal in this gig for that song. Those Epiphone guitars just became synonymous with the band in those years; Noel probably got freebies galore. So many bands in Oasis' later stages and after tried to capture what they had as a nationwide enthral - the Franz Ferdinands, Doves, Kasabians and Razorlights of the world - but no.
unbelievable show. this would be my ideal setlist to see oasis with. be here now is my favorite oasis album, thus this would be my favorite tour to see them off of.
What a gig. Be Here Now was great, don't care what anyone says.
Dean Cousins you're absolutely right
be here now gets criticized by so many wankers but then you realise even be here now is a billion times better than most of the shit that comes out nowadays.
Completely agree!! BHN is my favourite Oasis album, and GMEX is my favourite concert. I can just imagine what it was like to be there! 😵💫😵

When mtv was really Music Television, not full of stupid tv series...
best fricking setlist
This is a prime example of a band at their absolute peak.
AND LIAM IS WRECKED HAHHAA SILL BEST BAND IN THE WORD
Hell yes.
I would say their peak was the month before they released this album and they was still in the glory of knebworth and wonderwall was the biggest song of the year in the world
well, at first the album was well received and was the fastest selling ever, so, they were still flying high at this point
I don't know what he means.
This make me feel like they should have keep Be Here Now as gig opener ... this song's like a bulldozer
fucking exactly, there was no reason at all to drop it
fact is, Noel hated this album .. shame
One of my favourite though .. somebody just put a new mix out of it as the same they did for Definitely Maybe, raw, straightforward sound .. and I'll be a happy man
It remains excellent in my opinion

Liam's voice is too good in this
You Bet Ya! It’s on a different level completely. At his finest and after this tour it most definitely took a massive toll on his voice for a long period. ✌️👍✌️
Liam = innate Rock star
+
Noel = Talented Geek
Best band ever
Filipe R. Bonehead = The stylest bald of the 90s britrock
guigsy = guigsy
lol
Filipe R. Q
Tony McCaroll = talentless drummer who gave oasis a rockin' sound
Alan White = talented drummer who gave oasis a booming sound

nah he sounded better at Earls Court 1995
Such a fueled gig. They completely blew me away with D´You know What I Mean?. You just want to raise your fist and still believe that the world is yours. This band always reminds me that anything is possible.

In the 90s Britain was oasis.....the country at this time was going through a golden few years...I miss it and nothing like these guys and that time will ever happen again.

Fuck me they could have walked off after Be here now it's that good, YEAH YEAH YEAHHHHH
+Alfie Banford not wrong mate. fucking epic and underrated, both live and album version! YEAH YEAH YEEEEEEEEEES!
+StrettyHS 313 i don't think oasis is underrated at all. they go the perfect amount of recognition that they deserved. many think that they're the best, which they are :)
I think he meant the song 'Be Here now' is underrated not the band.
Lee Mcqueen spot on mate. didn't even notice his incorrect comment till now haha
This version of Fade in-out.I mean it stands for everything the lads and rock n roll is about
Most of the people are jumping, dancing and screaming but some of them are standing there and noticing how liam's voice has changed.
When Liam has voice.

This is why #Oasis will #LiveForever! Yeah, they're not together anymore but the records and performances are all there, you can watch them anytime!
Be here now is an incredibly underrated album, hope they re master it just like Definitely Maybe and What's The Story (Morning Glory)
no no no dont remaster it why?
Ravon charnock Because the mastering on the original CD is pretty shit and Be Here Now is fuckin fantastic album. That's why.

I didn't think Wembley was great to be honest. It was really good but not great
To be fair, there are a few fillers but there are some class tracks that are often completely overlooked
that is the best oasis performance ever!
i never get enough of songs from Be Here Now
be here now, defo the best album out the lot performed live, the long melodies is what you want and space out to in a gig.

Back in the day when Liam actually bothered singing properly - magic. Echo what others have said - "Be Here Now" was unfairly maligned; I loved it!
Hey man, they didn't quite ditch it afterwards, there are 2002 versions out there on RUclips and also a bit of a rare one from 2000.
Finsbury park 2002 done dyou know what i mean and it was mega ✌🏻️
Chef Thomson I'm with you. the finsbury park concert in general is amazing
At their peak as a live band right here! This gig doesn't get the recognition it deserves... Great show!
Why fade-in-out was not recorded like this on the album is beyond me, it feckn superb like this what a tune!!!!!!
Noel's freewheeling guitar-style and fat Gibson/Humbucker-tone with tons of distortion & Wahwah is exactly what I like.
Oh time machine feel 14 again sitting with my mum and dad in the living room fuckin great!!!
