"The BPM button will change your volume" sums it up perfectly
Please don't ever take this video down because I'm going to need it every time I use that thing.
10:55 “Don’t do it. Be weird. Have fun. Do stuff.” - Love that! Thanks for the great video Ricky!
"Don't quote me on that" - Ricky Tinez
Getting this for my 12yo soon to be step son for Christmas. He has Asperger's and loves EDM and video games. I am going to be showing this video to him so he can learn how to use it properly. Thanks for posting this!
So wholesome
@@inkshock Do you have a link? Seems like a great party setup (as in, you can party just about anywhere you go).
Daniel Miller ....great stepfather !!
The chord button with side chain sold me. Just ordered mine.
"aw man, I forgot my iPod"
"no worries my dude, we got the PO"
I learned more about the PO20 in your ten minutes instruction video than any other PO20 10 minute videos. So, thank you for making a great video.
8:48 Almost cried when the chord came in. Yes, this was a good decision.
love love love this one for the CHORD function. No other PO has this afaik and this makes this the best one to use live. Also the possibility of changing the pattern and parameters while it's playing is great.
Yeah the chords are the best
Man... I've spent a couple hours with mine and learned most of what you clearly explained in under fifteen minutes. Wish I had watched this right out of the gate. Well done...
"be weird, have fun
and do stuff " 😀Thanks Ricky, once again a really great lesson .🐂💨💨💨💨💨💨💨
It's great that you took the time to go through all of the PO features and explain them so clearly, especially as you were new to them yourself. To quote Richard Bach, "You teach best what you most need to learn". I have the Korg Volca Keys and Sample and they are a little more sophisticated than the POs, BUT I know that the POs can be synced to the Volcas, so endless possibilities there. They are surely nifty little creative devices and so portable, rather like the Volcas (and less expensive too). Many thanks and please keep up the good work.
After this tutorial I am sold, can't wait to groove with this! Thank you for the great tutorial.
I just watched this great tutorial and I'm going to get one of these machines today. Thank you very much, Mr. Tinez, and keep up the good work!
Been eye-opening to me. I just ordered one and I'm so hyped!
My arcade came this week after reading an on line article in the NYT Sunday Magazine . I am having a blast with it ! Great Video ! Thanks!
Just got my arcade, first PO, delivered last night and have been messing around with it a lot. Even after reading the extended guide on the teenage engineering site, this really helped fill in some gaps. Thank you!
Easily the best tutorial on the Pocket Operative Ive found and now I REALLY want to get one :D
Awesome video, thank you so much! I finally decided to buy one of these and dip my toes into music making. This is the clearest explanation I've seen yet introducing the basic functions. Thanks again, hope you see this comment even though it's two years after you posted.
"...don't do it. be weird. have fun." best self-edit/sound advice EVER!! I frickin' love you, man!! glob bless!!
Your presentation is so concise and informative! Great job
Received one of these from my wife for my birthday. I have zero musical talent but have been having great fun making some chiptunes with this, thanks to your tutorial :D Great work
full on beginner here, i dont know anything about music but this tutorial was super helpful and i made a nice little tune. thanks dude!
Great tutorial 👍 Super well-explained and easy to follow.
Really helpful. It helped a lot in choosing the right pocket operator for me. Thanks man. Totally gonna subscribe
Nice voiceovers, good camera work and pretty little cacti, what more can you ask for!!
Always good to listen/watch your tutorials...short, simple, fun, informative, and inspiring. TY : ) I have the PO 12, 20 and because of you and HAQ ATTACK, the KO
Haha thanks for watching dillip! They're too collectible which can be bad because I want them all haha
This is indeed an amazing gadget and the best PO I have seen so far. Thanks for the brilliant tutorial, so well explained and easy to follow. It impressed me so much that I just bought myself a PO-20 for Christmas, so now I'm having fun learning how to use it! Result :)))
Great video. Just ordered the arcade po20 can't wait to try it out
Thanks for that tutorial, got me back into the PO arcade! I actually Took notes while you were talking. Thanks a lot!
Your voice is amazing and extremely relaxing. Read me a bedtime story!
Next week on my YT, reading bedtime stories while making beats... haha JK
very good tutorial, great foundation to learn playing on all the pocket operators 👍🏾
Great tutorial. Just picked up one of these and I'm really enjoying it. Thanks, man :)

I just buy this pocket synth, and your tuto is very helpful ! Good video btw. Thanks :)
Great walk through, thanks man
I just got the Rick and Morty PO-137, and this tutorial fits it so well! You need more views on this vid!
Really good and informative demo. Thanks.
No worries Stockholm, glad you found it informative!
Thank you, Ricky. I ordered a KO today and that’ll be my first PO, so this is quite helpful.
really ?!!!!! one dislike ? this is the best video of the arcade po 20 you are the best men keep it up, love from mexico :)
This is brilliant. My cousin lent me his one and the instructions are useless for actually trying to make a tune with it. This has enabled me to actually create something fun.
I love this video! Just bought one and I'm so happy with this little tech! Also I'm proud that the maker, Teenage Engineering, is from Sweden :D
Good shit my dude. Always great videos
Thanks Enrique, it's really helpful
I just got one of these. Thanks for teaching me how to use it.
You sir, have just blown me away. I think I'm going to pick one of these up 🙂. I've always wanted to make music but have never been sure on what route to go down.
This is months of fun and learning for sure.
Excellent video, thanks for sharing, much appreciated : )
Thank's for your smart tutorials...I do have KO, Arcade and Speak by the way 🎼
Thanks man, very helpful video! 💯💯💯
Great tutorial, Very Sick Beat during the tutorial.
Keep it up🔥🔥🔥👾
Very helpful, Thank you!
Saw the coffee shots in the intro and thought "wait a minute... this dude is a HIPSTER". That being said Ricky, man, I absolutely love you. I just found your channel yesterday and your videos are GREAT
LOL, Thanks Kai, you'll see in my more recent videos the Coffee is gone :X Thats a vintage intro! I appreciate the support bro.
I learnt it all via this video ,excellent!!
Thanks! I just bought an Arcade PO (my first PO, but I've ordered a KO! and Rhythm and they're otw). I'll have to watch this a few times for it to sink in, but I'm starting to get it.
"Ultimate time killer" Ahaha! This video was very useful for me. Thanks!
Massively helpful!
Excellent Demo..
8:53 ooohh shhiiiIIIEETTTT THATS SO SICK
Muchas gracias, fue de mucha ayuda el tutorial! Excelente :) 🙏🏻✨
Great tutorial. Mine is arriving in the next hour! Can't wait to get stuck in to it.
Thank you! Now I can start to play with mine!
Oh man I can't decide between this or the PO-33. I'm completely new to the hobby but I can totally see myself getting lost in it as soon as I get my hands on one of these POs.
Thanks. Super useful vdieo! Now they're available again, I have a PO-20 arriving on Monday :)
Holy smokes the chord function blew my mind
Just picked this up last night out at the guitar center in cerritos, got the last one, little thing is dope!
Not bad right?
Thank you so much! :-)
Great tutorial, broski
This I thought was more instructive than the PO-33 K.O. video which was confusing-keystroke-hell. I think I am *starting* to understand the underlying logic. Thank you!
THE best PO tutorial I've seen so far! Thank you!!!
best videos on the internet
Yup, def the best tut on this!
Great vid thanks!
"Meh, arcade is not bad"
8:55 "I need arcade too"
The chord function is amazing, how it ties it all together like that.
great video! don't comment much but this video made me great explanation.
Nice! Tnx for video
this helped a lot. greetings from germany
Check the Arcade running into Korg NTS-1 for extra deep weird:)Thanks for all the help along the way.
Just picked on up..... here goes!!
This tutorial was awesome! Will you be doing a compact creation with po-12 and po-20?
I got the po-33 and op-1 this month and now I want this one too 😂
I just got the sub it’s pretty cool
This has about five times the amount of features of a Volca and I'm impressed.
Thanks!! New SUB
Thank youu!
Great tutorial. First time with a Pocket Operator (or any synth, for that matter). Pretty much copied your tune verbatim, just to follow along and make some sense of it. Highly recommend video this for anyone just starting out with the PO-20.
Super well done video man. Love your interpretation, what’s your favorite PO out of the ones you have tried?
KO for sure
Hello! Thanks for the tutorial, i got one of this for father's day and am already having a lot of fun. I have a question, do you know if there is a way to have less than 16 steps? Thanks again!
Holy shit thank you so much for this vid ! ❤️

I have just discovered this tiny beast and I’m amazed by it. Your overview it’s been really helpful. Anyway I have a doubt about chords lenght. By default, any chord lasts, at least, the complete pattern. That’s 16 beats. Is there any way to change the lenght of the chords so that I can change them every 8 or 4 beats? Thanks a lot
Dang thats cool
Ricky, is there any way to have the drone effect start at the beginning of your song once you press play?
Hi! Nice Video, I get 3 PO today :) It´s posibble to save a pattern and use it after PO 20 turns off?
Can the arpeggiator be recorded? - and can the tones/movement of the arpeggiator be changed? thanks for nice demo! Levi in sweden
What a great video man I got exactly these two second hand with zero info...God send help
@Ricky Tinez So I got the arcade, and I have two questions. Since I have a MacBook laptop and no actual interface(and I'm sort of new to music) what are some options to transfer music to my MacBook, and how do I start a new project? When I hold Chord and hit pattern, I still have the previous pattern I made.
Can you use the arp by itself? I’m thinking of sampling them going through a delay as nice one shots to add to a beat. But it seems to be an effect based on the pattern, is it ‘isolatable’?
Thanks for the tutorial. I really want one of these but I'm a complete musical ignoramus, this helped clear some confusion up. Can't wait to start fiddling around on my down time. How tough are they? Is the case a real must?
these things are surprisingly sturdy. I played the Arcade in a lot of gigs, and after a while some buttons need a stronger push than in the beginning. I use glove to not sweat up the back side too much. Case not a must.
Hi, is it possible to use chords without any other sounds playing? Is it possible to use that sidechain compressor fx on chords without having the bassdrum playing? Thanks a lot.
