VANLIFE | Self-build 7.5 Tonne Lorry to Home

Finally got to do a video of our build from start to finish with photos and clips we found. It also has our first testing trip out which didn't go too well but sorted out the issues that needed sorted.
Neither of us remembers exactly when we decided to build our own, motorhome but Chris remembers being in favor of doing a self-build in a large vehicle to help with weight issues. We had different types of motorhomes from a Mazda Bongo to various other off the peg motorhomes. We decided for us we wanted a self-build as we found motorhomes not as sturdily made for full-time living having experienced camping in all seasons with our old vans. We also needed the weight limit as we have a lot of scuba equipment we wanted to take on our travels and couldn't have afforded a 7.5 tonne off the peg motorhome. This ended up half the price of any motorhome the same size and we got what we wanted and now happily living in her touring Europe for the past few years. We began looking in 2017 after the summer, and in November we had ourselves a loan and became the proud owners of a 2012 DAF LF45 which would, over the next 2 years be transformed into Florry by ourselves. No experience before of any build as Chris is in IT and I (Cat) a teacher. We got there in the end !

We’re Chris, Cat and Rolo our chocolate labrador. We live full time in our self-converted 7.5 tonne DAF LF 45 Lorry traveling around Europe. We've traveled in motorhomes for over 15 years all over Europe and I cat lived in a motorhome in NZ traveling over 25 years ago with my girls then aged 3 months and 3 years old. Motorhoming and traveling are not new to us it been a way of life for many years but we decided life is too short and we wanted to live a simpler life and go full time. We downsized from a 4 bedroom family home to buy our 7.5-tonne lorry and spent two years converting our lorry to become our tiny home on wheels. it was a grueling and hard slog building our own tiny home on wheels but worth it in the end, as we have our own unique home to travel with on wheels.
We moved into Florry The Lorry at the end of February 2018 and have since been touring around Europe except for during the first lockdown in the UK where we ended up living on a family drive, in Suffolk. We left the UK Again to explore and arrived in Spain and two days later it was announced travel to Spain was not recommended. The government advised everyone that if they were already in a country that they should follow the local guidelines of that country until they could safely get back. With borders closing and things turning for the worse, we decided to stay in Menorca rather than continue travels through Europe in 2020 to do the safe thing. May 2021 and we are still in Menorca and things are starting to ease and we are planning again to be leaving soon to try and make our way back to the UK to see family and friends. The adventures will continue and where to we don't as yet know, it all depends on what the government will and will not allow and borders opening. We love our SMALL home, BIG adventures, and will continue to have many adventures and life in Florry wherever that may be. Stay Safe. Hugs, Cat, Chris & Rolo (Florry The Lorry)

That long window is double glazing? Did you do a frame around it? How is about water tank and how do you heat the water?
