Lets stick with ocean state. 'Little rhody' ive never called it that lol. Besides we literally have the same population as Maine. Providence also doesnt take up most of the state.
@@righteousryan22 Indeed- it's absolutely dwarved by South County (which, yes, isn't an actual county- but don't tell the northern folks- they think it's real.)
Total clown lol - video was made using zero actual facts (i.e. 'PVD takes up most of the state') and while clearly not intended to be educational, this is just a poor effort all around
@@jamesfalcon7086 Some people are happy living in Florida. I hope the property you own doesn't develop mold or insect infestations. I've seen Florida condo buildings and modern homes torn down because of mold.
#10 False - I have a state beach pass and typically go to the beach in June - September. #9 True - Taxes are high, but people are willing fund social programs and education institutions. #8 False - Cianci was a complicated character, but people were loyal to him because of the major transformations that he drove to transform the city. It is a center for arts and culture in good part to the work of Buddy. #7 True - I would say that there are so many public works repairs going on across the state especially the last 6 years including major bridges and highways. #6 False - Friggin’ almost no one eats Johnny Cakes. In fact, you have to really look to find them on any menu…anywhere. (This is something you read) In fact, the food and the food culture in this state. RI has some of best Italian period (I’m originally from NY). Calamari is a fantastic dish. Midwest food is flavorless. 5# False. False. It is absolutely no boring. People come here to vacation. There is a vibrant live music scene, bars, sports, independent restaurants, and there are no less than 14 live theaters around the state. (I’ve lived in 9 states from NY to TX, NM, CA, MS, NC, MD, PA and traveled extensively around the US for work.) On this point, you are “smokin’ crack”. In fact, you can go into Providence absolutely any night of the week and many nightspots and restaurants are filled. Check out Water Fire as one example. 4# True - Yes, the accents were difficult for me to get used to coming from another area. 3# True - Weather is unpredictable. The amount of snow is a fraction of some other places in New England. My brother lives in NH where winters last 4-6 weeks longer for the snow to go away and typically 6-10 degrees colder. (someone moving from LA wouldn’t be acclimated to any snow, but we don’t have large forest fires, smog, mudslides, etc.) 2# Maybe true. I think weather may be a factor for some people. 1# False. There are a high-tech jobs available. I work for #4 on the Fortune 500 - whose corporate HQ is in RI employing some 30K people. (An insignificant number of people work at the universities and they are not major employers. Your facts are incorrect.) Hospitality industry is still a significant employer in the state. Why? Because tons of people visit here because it’s nice. Overall, your list is wildly inaccurate. Did you just make this stuff up?
Some of the stuff isn’t true but the jobs are difficult to get solid jobs in Rhode Island. I live in Narragansett and you have to go to providence and you need a good education to find a decent job. But Rhode island isn’t bad the quality of life is good and almost no crime where I live in ri
I'm looking to move to Rhode Island and I noticed that houses are far cheaper than Connecticut or Massachusetts, do you know why that is? I understand why they're cheaper than Massachusetts but I figured Connecticut would have had similar pricing
Yeah, I also grew up in RI. I wonder if he is getting confused with the Mass beaches. Horseneck Beach charges 40 bucks for out of state parking and their beach is disgusting. Red tide to the point of being unbearable.
@@carlindurfee7566 I moved out of RI to Frisco, Texas. Trust me, you do not know boredom until you ever make the mistake I've made. I miss RI. It is vintage, has art culture, and not infested with endless franchises.
I was born and raised in RI. I never eat seafood and there’s no way that RI is somehow more boring than like Nebraska or almost the entire Midwest. “Hey look, 50 straight miles of cornfield.” Besides for being the main hub between New York City and Boston we get every single entertainment tour here as well
What do jobs look like for delivery and library's? is there a curves in RI? What are the advantages and disadvantages for retirees and those on disabilities and are unable to work? Bro seriously everyone from Rhode Island spends as much time at the beach as possible and the water warms up by the end of June!! And buddy was a key component in building up the city of providence, even though he went to jail he was one of the peoples favorite!!
No that would HAVE BEEN JOE DOORLEY. buddy was a THIEF. DOORLEY WAS STRAIGHT AS AND ARROW. W/O HIM THERE WOULDN'T EVEN BE A CIVIC CENTER. Vincent Cianci PUT US IN debt that we're STILL TRYING TO GET DIG OUT OF. THE PENSION SYSTEM THAT DOORLEY CREATED IS OUT OF HAND AND STILL NOW. Nutty Buddy SOLD HIS SOUL TO THE DEVIL. RUINED the city. True stuff you had a mad man selling city jobs and him POCKETING THE MONEY . I BET YOU voted for trump as well.i know of more then one person that "donated" 5000.00 $. To get jobs. Two were cops. The worst mayor of Providence WE HAVE EVER HAD. Look at the car taxes for your car alone. 78.oo $ per thousand for example.they had to make it a law that convicted felons could not run for mayor. None of the work done in providence was done because of cianci. That was all state work .he just took credit for it. Joe Doorley helped write the legislation to move the river. That crook buddy again just took the credit.unless you were one of his croonys. You were screwed .i was going to work for the city till I found out what was going on. No way was i going to pay him 5 grand. F him.
-You must not be Italian. It's calamari! -You're correct. The accent is a mix, but it's much better than listening to a Boston accent or a Brooklyn accent. -The ocean is great for a quarter of the year. -The potholes are really just a tax on out-of-state cars. "The locals might go swimming once or twice a year" *Visibly chokes on coffee milk* Excuse Me??? I have gone swimming in RI more times then I can count. And I live there!
Same, I go swimming in the pool all summer and sometimes in the fall when we have a Indian summer. And when its winter I go to YMCA swimming pool a few times lmao
Rhode Island? Com'n dude! How can a place sanwiched between New York and Boston go wrong? Rhode Island is the epitome of "The best of both worlds" Rhode Island is the most beautiful place I've ever lived in the USA. I no longer live there but I miss all the fun there is to enjoy there, beautiful parks, excellent nightlife! The coffee shop atmosphere, sidewalks all over the state. The accent in Rhode Island is for sophisticated people, so I can see how others will consider annoying. I am a serious critic to contend with, I am a not from the USA. I now live in the midwest, of this country, talk about boring, oh dude you don't know nothing. I haven't tried the west coast yet, which is the only reason why I can't call Rhode Island the place to live in the USA.
The current batch of politicians in RI make Buddy Cianci look like a chuior boy. He did some shady things but he loved Providence and turned downtown from a bunch of abandoned buildings to what it is today which is a place alot of people come visit.
Buddy was the best thing that ever happened to Providence. He may have been a bit shady at times but EVERYONE had skeletons stored away. The city was better off for him because no matter what he did he cared about the city. Providence went to hell after Buddy went away.
I have to disagree about the swimming. During the summer, the swimming is pretty darned good, at least at the South County beaches such as East Beach, etc. The water temps are tolerable and you can swim and get a little wave action as well, unlike Mass, where you freeze your behind off.
Never Give An Inch, yes, I have been swimming in the Pacific Ocean, in Oceanside and Cabo San Lucas. I found both experiences to be refreshing, though, and not too cold for me.
You’re talking really far south. I have been all up the west coast from San Diego to the strait of Juan de Fuca in Washington and Hawaii. Anywhere around San Francisco up is freezing all year. Hawaii was nice though.
Also, we only have a hurricane about once every 20 years, vs Florida and the rest of the South. Tornadoes are Extremely rare, as are earthquakes which are very mild No big floods or landslides. No big forest fires. Lots of history, we were the first with true religious freedom and we were the first state to break with England in the Revolutionary War. MA gets all the credit, but we were first. RI is a great place to live, ask people who live here.
Rhode Island beaches are good for about 2 months of the year, they water is usually quite warm in July and August. In fact their beaches are quite nice
I will always have a place in my heart for Rhode Island. If you live there now and you don't like it, just move some place else for a while - it will keep calling to you like an unpaid bill. Its hard to get RI out of your system for good. I lived in Warwick (Governor Francis Farms) for several years (for those who know the area, it was the house with the goofy Chinese garden). Close to NH, NY, Boston, VT... Great schools. The food is amazing, and the people have big hearts. Met my best friend and also fell in love with 3 ladies (not at the same time, of course) in Rhode Island from 91' to 95' (sadly just realizing I was dumped by each one - they were out of my league). Apparently, I'm not that great of a catch - eh, what can ya do? :) Got my college degree from RI, and also buried my beloved wonderful Mother there. Cant find hot wieners (its a Rhode Island thing) any place on the planet - gotta come home for those. D&D finally made it to other states, but its not the same. Federal Hill is like an old friend. I'm in my 40's now, and try to visit my old home about once a year. Please don't ever change, you wonderful little state. Sure miss you.
I live in Rhode Island and everything you said is either false or exaggerated. Also, look at the company General Dynamics, they build submarines and is one if not the biggest employer in Rhode Island. Don’t forget Rhode Island has some of the best schooling as many high schools were placed in the top 10 in the US.
@ I mean I just graduated from Central Falls high which, while certainly not being the best school, doesn't deserve nearly the amount of shit people give it.
Mario Davia yea but u might get stabbed going there..such a shitty part of providence right there..crackheads for days over there...but yes...Mr. Lemon is awesome...just make sure your wearing your riot gear when u go
As someone from the midwest on lake michigan who has also lived in MA, all of the warnings of "brutal winters" and "frigid water" on these videos are not concerning. It's all relative! Maybe it's an issue if you're from the south, but if you've ever lived somewhere cold, RI's climate will probably seem moderate
Buddy Cianci was the man and responsible for Providence's best period in the early 2000s. I was born and raised in Mass but worked for 10 years in Providence and it's worth checking (Providence, Newport) out if you're travelling to somewhere better like Cape Cod. Accent is definitely somewhere between NY and Boston accent.
Born & raised but b/c it is small and the areas vary, you realize how special it is vs. other states where driving to function takes forever. People are very closed here in terms of striking up conversation. Really no reason why. I think it could contribute to depression. You mostly have to join things and find common interests to really expect for others to open up.
I am born and raised in Rhode island, I live in Indialantic Florida now, I will always have a place in my heart for Rhode Island. If you live there now and you don't like it, just move some place else for a while - it will keep calling like an unpaid bill. It's hard to get RI out of your system for good.... Hello, how're you doing?
I lived in Newport for few years and I hated it. Housing is ridiculously expensive despite the lower wages compare to other areas of RI. Coming from a big and diverse city, the thing I couldn’t get used to was the fact that everyone knows each other. Meeting with people with same Irish/Portuguese/Italian last names makes you think they are all connected. People there are born there, raised there and die there. If you are an outsider you will never blend in with locals.
1. It may be small, but it's 3% bigger at low tide! 2. Buddy Cianci is dead. 3. Yes, there's snow. But with a climate that's moderated by the ocean (and the Gulf Stream) it's a lot more forgiving than any other New England state." 4. "Rhode" island is, in fact the "red" island that Newport ["America's Oldest Resort"] is on. It's now known as Aquidneck Island [original Narragansset name]. The rest of the state is pretty rural. 5. Cuisine is superb! Renown hospitality-specialty college Johnson & Wales Univ. graduates tend to stay and open Exquisit restaurants!
Exactly, so many might be overthinking this vid. But there are reasons that tons, (and tons) of responses are here in the comment area, big traffic, thanks to Briggs productions.
I lived in RI for 45 years ....watched a beautiful state turn wicked and greedy.....I was forced to leave because the costs of living and running my small bussiness were horrible. I had to leave, property, business, retirement taxes are bizzare. RI has gone from beach cottages and beautiful beaches to Mc Mantions and rich out of staters. It is now the"Ocean State" where you pay thru the nose and cannot get to the beach. I have found relief in NC
I've lived in RI my whole life and will admit that this video is nearly 100% accurate. Almost every single person that retires in RI can't leave the state fast enough. In my years in RI, it seems as if every single time we have an opportunity to bring in a business that will generate revenue for the state it gets voted down. Casino's, race tracks, amusement parks..etc. Yet when we talk amongst each other we can't seem to find one person that voted against it. TF Green airport has taken over the third-largest City and bought a ton of homes which means lots of property tax money lost. Raising taxes seems to be the norm every year. The roads are littered with potholes and salt and sand used to clear the ice in the winter months. There are only about 3 months a year where being outdoors is fun. After that, it's one layer of clothing after another as the months get colder. The cost of living is very high, which is why most people leave. Most of all, there really isn't much to do here at all. And if you're a Republican, stay far far away. There is no bluer state in the country than RI
FINALLY! A VIDEO ON RHODE ISLAND! Being a Rhode Island resident I actually agree with you on almost every point. Except for sea food and the accent. Those were weak points and as you said, not really a reason not to move to a state. YOU FORGOT ROAD RAGE! It is a very big issue here too. Back in the 90's a preist killed a paramedic over a road rage incident. On another not, just remember, Providence isn't the only city in Rhode Island. It may be the capital and the largest city, but the entire area surrounding Providence is a multitude of much smaller cities. No skyscrappers but Warwick and Cranston are also notable areas in Rhode Island, not to mention the beach towns of Narragansett, Westerly, Newport and Portsmouth. Fun Fact the City of Warwick has 80,000 people has an area of 30 SQ miles, (which is 4 sq miles shorter than Miami) and 39 Miles of coastline end to end. (The most in the State) Im curious to see your reasons TO move to Rhode Island. Ill be waiting patiently

Rhode Islanders have the best laugh. They all laugh like Peter Griffin. Heeheehee. 7. The mayor of the second biggest city in Rhode Island, Quahog, is flipping Adam West! Imagine having Batman and Catman as your mayor. 8. The schools there beat schools in any other state. How do I know? There's talking babies there whom'st build time machines and know the entire space time continum. Really makes you think what they teach in preschools there. 9. The dogs there are smart, stand upright know how to use toilets and have intelligent conversations. 10. The noses of Rhode Island women are shaped like sandwiches.

@@angeladonohue4592 Most towns and cities have their own public libraries, with larger cities usually having more than one. Plenty of options are available if you are looking for a delivery job, UPS, FedEx, Amazon, and the USPS are likely the largest employers of delivery drivers in the state. I dont know much about retirement benefits, but Im sure with a little research, you'll be able to find out about all of that information. Politics are moderate but left leaning. Again, all of this information is available to you with a quick google search if you want to find more information.
Added to this answer: Hi I was born, raised and still here in RI. I will say it is a relatively nice place to live. New England in general is nice. They do tax you but still it is worth it. Great schools, low crime in most of the state (except in central falls and South providence for most part), for the most part nice people, esp the older folks. And they are working on many of the roads currently. My dad is active with RIDOT (RI dept of transportation) and is very much into that scene and Gina Raimondo our current gov't has been doing a decent job with that. As far as winters go yes they get cold yes we get snow but for the most part it isn't as bad as you think most years unless you're coming from an area that gets no snow of course. The squid thing, is actually something called Calamari. Its squid rings, deep fried in a crispy batter...sooo good and you'd never know its squid. We are also known for every great cuisine under the sun due to one of the top culinary schools, Johnson and Wales, being here. So you don't have to absolutely love seafood even though we got a lot of it of you do. We also got other RI delicacies, NY system weiners, (wieners with meat sauce, mustard, celery salt, chopped/diced onions on top,), coffee milkshakes (known as cabinets), Del's frozen lemonade, and our local chain restaurant Newport creamery, which serves up good food and ice cream. Get an awful awful milkshake! Or a big beef burger. My mom, uncle, aunt cousin and myself have the RI accent. Yes It's true I got a thick one and it does sound more NY than Boston but not everyone does oddly enough. We do love the ocean but swimming in it twice a year? Ppl tend to swim in it way more than that. I guess if you are from a warmer climate maybe that could be true for you. RI boring? Hmm. I mean I guess by other state's standards maybe. But we got some stuff here, Newport, Block Island, The brown U scene on Thayer street in east side of providence, watch hill, beaches. We used to have rocky point park but it closed :( And good news, we are only 45 minutes from Boston and 3 hours from New York City and both are very easy to get to from here via bus and trains which run all the time to those 2 places. Been to both many times. We are also very close to Gillette stadium home of the New England Patriots and great shopping and dining, Old mystic seaport in CT and Foxwoods and Mohegan sun casinos in CT and Twin river casino in Lincoln, RI. And Misquamicut beach has a drive in theater and some rides and in North Smithfield they got the Rustic Drive in too. We also got karaoke, trivia nights, bars, and a few clubs in Providence and the Newport blues cafe. We have great foliage, apple picking in fall. RI is a quaint type place, Providence does not take up most of the state like Briggs suggests but it is the centralized city, much like Warwick. We have a big Italian, Portuguese population our bakeries are incredible too. Lil' Rhody is an old nickname for us but ppl. don't really use it as much anymore. Here in RI we give directions based on where things used to be. Where Benny's on Warwick Ave. was? Hang a left by the Dunkin' donuts lol.
I used to work at that Benny’s. It’s next to where the old Jerry Lewis movies used to be. My friend Sean used to work there and he would let me see the movies for free.
Top reasons to move to Rhode Island. no School Foster Glocester, South Prov Crack Heads, Dels, Bubblers, Awful Awful’s, Iggys, the Block Island Ferry, Hot Weiners, Cabinets, Salt Water Taffy, taking Wicked Pissah’s, Nor’easters, getting stuck on 295, Dunkin Donuts every 5 minutes, Burrivlle Cliff Jumps, Beavertail park, Narraganset, TK, the homeless people on route 6, Driving to the top of Bj’s in Johnston to enjoy the view of the city at 2am, Washington County fair, stop and Shop, The Foster Fair, Ray’s French Fries, getting pulled over by Johnston Police or state police for the dumbest shit, And most important, never using your Turn Signal.
The Dudley Moore movie Arthur is full of one liners. Early in the movie he brings a prostitute to a restaurant and sees relatives. He introduces her as a princess of a very tiny country nobody ever heard of. "I mean it's so tiny Rhode Island could beat the crap out of it in a war."
This whole video is a crock. RI is awesome. Little gem and stunning beaches. Waters warm from June through October and providence has some awesome restaurants. Summer time along the coast as well as Newport is spectacular.
#10 - lots of armed confict This country has been destroyed by armed conflict, and is still happening. Now before you comment about how the liberals caused this, stop typing.
Wow! The point about the taxes so true! And property taxes, rental prices, and home ownership prices/bank lending is terrible! I owned a two family home once, lived on the first floor and rented out the 2nd floor. For four years I spent more money on property tax and mortgage than I ever did renting. My wallet could not take it, I sold the property, and despite the fact that I updated the apt upstairs/downstairs, the front yard, and the back yard. It sold pretty low. Don't move there unless you have an excellent income and don't buy a house. ✌
The 9ine God lol no I’m not I don’t even live there, I live in Boston but it is still one my favorite places to go. However, if you some suggestions I am always open to try new places.
William Columbus Ohio. I lived there in 2016 ended up back in RI due to a feeling of homesick. I wish I never did. I had forgotten why I left in the first place. But yes OH isn’t the greatest state no state is but it is a huge and I mean huge upgrade from this shitty place man. I lived in Boston with my cousins and aunt for about 4 years. I love that city and I’ve been back and forth from Prov to Boston for years. Boston is way better then here. Also try Colorado and Indianapolis the city of Indianapolis is the most amazing thing I ever saw when I moved to OH. Anywhere like the Midwest or the south like Texas, especially Houston or Dallas is incredible. Especially at night. I definitely will be in Canada one day and I will live there and have a house there at some point. That’s another option. Incredible amazing country and nice people. Those places I can name off the top of my head. Oh and Pennsylvania. It’s beautiful out there. There’s some ideas man hope it helps. Anywhere but this shit town. Don’t sell yourself short here.
The 9ine God thanks man I really appreciate it, I’m leaving Boston soon but no clue where I’m headed, I was thinking maybe Chicago but to be honest Chicago seems very similar to Boston just a little bigger. I spent a lot of time in Charlotte before the pandemic it’s growing city that seems to be model after Atlanta but for some reason it doesn’t excite me to move there. Have you been to Jacksonville, Fl? For some reason I want to give me it shot for a few months at least. PA seems like a good choice as well, but I’ve only ever been to Philly and no offense to anyone but man that is a dirty city. The only other city I’m considering is Austin it’s the fastest growing city in the US not sure if that’s good or bad especially for prices. Anyway thanks again for the advice, good luck to you, hopefully you can get out of R.I. soon.
William Thanks brotha. I can’t wait to leave. I’d go with Texas for sure. Lot of jobs and space with housing that is affordable. Philly is dirty but the whole of Pennsylvania shouldn’t be. Chi town is a good city people think it’s all guns and violence but that’s not true. There’s a lot of culture there. But for sure if you’re looking for a better way of living 100% go to Austin Texas. Or anywhere in Texas even Waco is really good. I think you’ll do great there. Thanks again for the encouragement man. I’m definitely going back to OH.

Omg. First of all, both squid and Jonny cakes are friggin delicious. Rhode Island is NOT boring omg are you kidding me??? I’ve done and seen SO many amazing things there!!! Museums, shopping, small and large theatre productions, beaches, camping, parks, lakes, architecture, and amazing food. As for winter...don’t be such a pansy. The summer in the south is WAY worse than RI in the winter. Also, I never had a problem getting a job there. I lived there for 27 years.
I'm in my early 30's and I'm never bored here We have genuine historical places to visit. In the summer we can never find parking at the beach in the winter I temperatures get below with 0 I going skiing ice skating sometimes but it's good for staying in and snuggling in Spring and fall we have our community activities and I work over 55 hours a week and our accents are because we are New England born and raised just saying instead of looking for stuff in the internet to find out what to say about this why don't you come and give us a try live here for a year or two then you can write whatever you want to write
If you're not from RI you'd never understand the Cianci situation...he did amazing things for Providence and he was a very difficult man to dislike. If you don't really know the history you shouldn't say you do. It's complicated.
Lived and worked there for several years. Accent was spot on. Even the politicians sound like Mafia hitmen... "Dis, Dat and De udder ting". Roads ARE horrible. Don't know where all those taxes are going....Drivers are horrible--they NEVER yield on left turns, so beware. Because they are coastal, the winters aren't usually as bad, as say, Vt or Upstate NY, but occasionally a Nor'Easter like the Blizzard of '78 brings everything to a halt for days. Great video!
Lived in Rhode island my whole life. Been everywhere in the state (obvi cause it's small) and I have not met too many people who eat squid... but other than that everything's spot on. And all these people getting mad offended... shouldn't bother commenting. Whyd you watch it? Like I'm from ri and it's crappy state with crappy people. People complain about how crappy the state is but like this man said no one ever leaves
I live in Rhode Island as well, and I don’t even eat sea food. When my cousin from Colorado, they come for clams and lobsters, the main thing in Rhode Island.
Yeah, "no one ever leaves RI" I couldn't agree more. When we moved to NC, friends thought we were "on the lam" or in the witness protection program. They couldn't understand why ANYONE would leave RI. My thought " Why does anyone stay?"
I live in Rhode Island, wouldn’t wanna live anywhere else. Love my state, plenty of things to do here. The only time people get depressed is the winters, cause so much snow but the summers are amazing , the food is great. My friends family and college is lit! Thayer street has amazing food, great time to spend on a Friday Saturday night. A lot of lakes to go fishing. A lot of basketball courts to play great pick up games. Sports are good here. Providence college is my favorite college. Thank you and btw , all the roads are finally getting fixed now. And jobs increased... But it’s all good, your just looking at the stats then actually going there and living there. Tbh everyone is friendly.. and OH THE BIGGEST THING IN RHODE ISLAND, is the URI VS PRovidence college men’s basketball game every year. Great atmosphere that you wouldn’t wanna miss. Trust me.. thank you again and check out my music ! God bless ya
As a Rhode Islander I have never once heard anything about squid being a favorite meal, I mean sure people eat it but its no more popular than most other sea food dishes. Also swimming in RI is not once or twice a year. The water warms up pretty fast in the summer and can last until oct. I have gone swimming well into oct and during the summer I swim almost everyday in the ocean so swimming only once or twice in a year would have to be from someone who either doesn't like the water/beach or is one of those people that cant go swimming unless its 96 degrees outside. And as far saying it is one of the most boring states I can tell you right now that is a complete crock of shit because RI actually has a lot going on. We get all 4 seasons, an active city with a lot of history, culture and night life, beautiful beaches that stand out even in the winter, scenic countrysides and plenty of parks, shopping centers/malls/ movie theatre's/restaurants and of course great food and lets not forget how convenient everything is thanks to the states small size. If you're going to make a video on why someone shouldn't move to a state and then come up with some lazy excuse like its boring and then not even bother to give an explanation as to why you might think that than I'm going to assume you know nothing about the state at all but as far as other claims go there is no question the state is flawed but what state isn't?
Johnny Cakes are a New Hampshire thing, Italian food is more popular than seafood here, Providence takes up less than 10% of the state, and Buddy Cianci may have been a crooked Mayor, but when he was in office the streets were safer to walk on at night, there were no mass congregations of heroin addicts, no panhandlers on every single corner, and small family-owned businesses thrived. I'm not saying Rhode Island doesn't suck because it does, but at least give good reasons. The tax one was good. Taxes are insane here. I never go to the beach so I don't really care about that. The Winters aren't "bad." They're just normal Winters. CVS, Amica, and General Dynamics/Electric Boat are some of the top employers, none of which are located in Providence, so that 90% thing is out the window. And I get that accents aren't a reason to not move somewhere, but making a video called 10 reasons NOT to move somewhere then using accents as one of your ten reasons NOT to move somewhere only to say in the same video that it's not a reason to not move somewhere despite the fact that you're listing it as one reason not to move somewhere, just makes you look like a straight up dumbass.
As far as Rhode Island being boring for young people, that may be true in small towns, but I don't see why a city like Providence would be all that boring. Like any city, I'm sure it has enough bars, clubs, museums, theatres, stores, etc. as well as street fairs, festivals and other events to keep people interested.
I was born in Connecticut and it’s a great place so your wrong calling it bad also Rhode Island is a very nice and tranquil place I moved here when I was 4 and I’ve loved it since
Pernection SOOOOO true! I had to stop in Providence after leaving Boston (for gas). I was going to Foxwoods Casino. The exit for Foxwoods is RIGHT AT THE STATE LINE!! Needless to say, I missed it, and I was using GPS, cause it will say "Welcome to Connecticut " and quickly say take the exit on the right.
That is wrong. I commute shorter then across the state. West to east, and it takes 50 minutes. It may take you 45 minutes from Massachusetts to Connecticut on 95, but that is going through only 2/3 of the state.

Hello, how're you doing?
My husband and I live in RI, he's had the chance to live elsewhere when he was in the Marines, and still came back here. My daughter lived in Baltimore for four years, had a great job, but came back here.. Too much crime and reverse racism there.True, this state wasn't great about fixing the roads in the past, but lately, a lot of work is getting done in the roads. Buddy Cianci was a good man, but his underlings in the city government were not, it was guilt by association. The weather gets cold in the winter, but it seldom gets below zero, like the midwest. On the flip side, we only have 2 months of sticky not weather in the summer, unlike Florida and Southern CA, where they have it all year, I hate that, and I wouldn't be able to live there. True, a lot of people work in nearby MA, but that doesn't mean there are no jobs here, in fact, right now there are a lot available. We do have a lot to do, besides beaches. Our own off Broadway repertory company, movie theaters, sports facilities, parks, RI Philharmonic Orchestra, nice parks with a lot of weekend activities, museums. Where do YOU live, and what is so great about it, that you feel the need to trash our state? Have you actual visited here, or are you just reading what the media has to say? Like CBS saying we are number one for depression. Sorry, I don't meet a lot of depressed people. The main reason people stay here, to make a long story short, is we love it. So, next time, do some real homework before you trash a state you really know nothing about!

You lost me right at the beginning. You can go to the beach from may to october and thats a lot longer than places with no beaches..... the water gets warmer as the summer goes on.
Potholes!!! Car accidents!! Traffic, crowds. We have a busy tourism industry which attracts many visitors to the area. Things are very different than it was 100 years ago, I've read about how RI was mainly used for farmland!!

I lived there until age 18 then 5 years in PA, 32 years in AR and now 1 year in MO. I visit my family in the beautiful New England summers or winter if somebody close gets married or dies. My family always welcomes me back for visits, I’m close to my sisters, nieces and nephews. I love Little Rhodey but in the winters are cold, wet and grey!

Coastal people like to call upper Midwest states "flyover states". Connecticut is like the Northeast's own "driveover state". Just kidding, eastern CT and the Quiet Corner are actually nice but suffer from a lot of the same economy issues as Rhode Island. In New Haven, Frank Pepe, Modern & Sally make the best pizza in New England by far. Hartford is the roughest city in New England, Bridgeport is no field day either. I am not a fan of FFC, Darien, Stamford and Greenwich.
i live in Rhode island and i have my whole life, its perfect for me. i love the cold, im a sailor and the summers dont get too hot if you live on the water. the school system is amazing and stuff like that and one good thing about living in the smallest state is that you can get anywhere in an hour or less. i live in lincoln and it only takes 15 minutes to get to providence, 20 minutes to get to Bristol and 45 minutes to get to Newport (not counting block island) also we do have alot of accents, i personaly have a mix of an american accent and a hint of british accent (for some reason)
Born and raised in RI. Work in Providence but live in Massachusetts now. RI is a beautiful state with great colleges and universities and a beautiful coastline (Newport, Gallilee, Matunickand Block Island). Yes, seafood is amazing but the smallest state has the best restaurants ever from Italian, Spanish to American, RI has the best. Unfortunately, corruption, a lack of vision to entice business, extremely high taxes, a one party state with the “who you know” mentality to get a job or the lowest number license plate and of course inept state management. All reasons why I decided to move across the border. Both my daughters left RI because there are very few job opportunities. But, RI will always live in me. Hey let’s go to Twin Oaks in my cah cuz da food is wicked good. Lol.
My brother, when he was in his teens ran the Todd Morsilli tennis tournament(Todd was a boy killed by a drunk driver), ever year Buddy would call him to let him know that since all the proceeds were going to charity, he would make sure there was a police presence. This may not sound like much, but a police detail at the time was over $50 per hour per cop, he could afford that. Buddy really cared about his City, he revampt Providence, the water fires the whole of downtown, that was all Buddy. He did away with all of the mayoral parking places in every pay to park lot in Providence, Buddy parked on the street like an average man. Anyone who's ever seeing Buddy in a low-income neighborhood when it was hot out, saw him coming out of his own pocket at the lemonade truck for every kid around. As far as him making a few mistakes, there's an old saying in Providence " if you want to steal a dollar off the table, you better make sure there's enough money there where no one's going to notice" He was truly hero of the working class, he was a great man who did a lot from the city, a city that he loved. If you didn't grow up in Providence it's something you probably will never understand, he was our mayor.
Wish the Italians still ran Federal Hill. Now it's full of Hispanics, crime is way up. Won't catch me on Atwells Ave. I wish the Mafia would return and fix the dump.
If you are retiring like me, this is a good choice. Lots of nice parks and the water at Narragansett Beach is still 5-10 degrees warmer than Massachusetts and thats saying a lot! I love the waves here and the beaches are all awesome I'm sure I'll find things to do!

Love the video!!!! I’ve been living in Little Rhode for the past 31 years and every word is right on point! My wife is a native here and she has that accent. Sometimes I literally have to use my Rhode Island to English translation for her. The funniest one is a “Bub- Blah” . The rest of the world calls this a water fountain. Coffee milk, hot wieners and little necks are also part of the cuisine. And Buddy Cianci? No big mystery for his popularity- when it snowed, he made sure the streets were plowed. I love the quirkiness and personality of Little Rhode. Keep them coming Briggs!
@@WorldAccordingToBriggs Rhode Island is the best state. We have theme parks, ski resorts, arcades, and water parks. The only person who should be allowed to make a video about RI is someone who ACTUALLY LIVES IN RI.
#1 is the real killer, and it is no surprise you saved it for last. The economy is pretty cold, although it's getting better. I like Rhode Island a lot and I am not even from New England; I moved up to South Shore Mass from my home state of NJ and frequently visit Providence as it is affordable, the food is great, and traffic is nothing compared to Boston. I have made some Rhody friends and hope to move there within a few years to avoid the awful home value inflation taking place near Boston, a city that will never have affordable housing within my lifetime. Easiest way to tell the Boston and Providence accent apart? Bostonians root for the "Sawx"; Providence roots for the "Sahx". Both people are native, die-hard fans of the team. Rhode Island lacks the caught/cot merger, which is what gives the accent its NYC/lower Northeast features. Rhode Island is also within day trip range to Manhattan, and just an hour away from Boston if you get bored, so there are options.
Pretty observant on the accent! I had to say it out loud to tell the difference but you pretty much nailed it! Either way the minute you say “I’m from Rhode Island” people say “Oh yeah Long Island!” 🤦🏻♀️😂
This guy is way off about Rhode Islanders not swimming more than a couple of days. Yes, the season is short, but that's why we make the most of it. And our beaches are beautiful.
I graduated from URI 1981. loved the seasons. Would have been heaven if I had a garage to drive the car into. Food was fantastic. Best Italian food in the world. Best and freshest seafood I have ever had and I have lived in 17 states. Jobs sucked so I joined the air force and moved on in 1982
Ppl just dont get us. I'm born and raised here in Rhode island and it's not the most boring state there are plenty of fun things to do here and places to see. Yes the water can be cold here but It takes like 5 mins to get used to it. Were not all about sea food we have foods and drinks that you dont find anywhere else. Bakery pizza, coffee milk. States are so quick to talk shit abt us when they dont know us
im from rhode island: 1. we definitely swim in the ocean..? 2. most people hated buddy cianci 3. MA def has worse potholes than we do 4. you think most people are just chewing on some squid? its deep fried, calamari isnt an uncommon thing 5. its not boring, providence has an awesome nightlife, theres plenty of things to do if youre a nature person with lakes and literally so many beaches that are beautiful in the winter or summer. And if you really get bored, boston is less than an hour away
Actually the beaches in RI are used a lot of the summer I prefer colder water it is really refreshing. Also we have this thing where in the winter people go to the beach and swim because you feel colder than the water the water actually feels good it's weird.

(someone moving from LA wouldn’t be acclimated to any snow, but we don’t have large forest fires, smog, mudslides, etc.)
2# Maybe true.
The state is definitely boring I’m 26 and lived here most of my life
Some of the stuff isn’t true but the jobs are difficult to get solid jobs in Rhode Island. I live in Narragansett and you have to go to providence and you need a good education to find a decent job. But Rhode island isn’t bad the quality of life is good and almost no crime where I live in ri

Sure miss you.
lived there 86-2008 all around Warwick. it gets in your blood & I miss it too. used to shovel snow over in gov. Francis.
born & raised on RI , 48 years now.
I've never ever heard of a Johnny Cake!
Same here.
You must be from north of the tower
Clam cakes lol
I'm from VT. It's another word for corn bread. I grew up with the phrase, so maybe it's more northern?
Because you're not from South County I bet... Though you might know Dynamite sandwich and South County folks have never heard of that...
Number 10 is debunked I worked at the beaches and I promise you it’s debunked. People come from mass and ct just to go to the beach
My brother works in general dynamics
@ I mean I just graduated from Central Falls high which, while certainly not being the best school, doesn't deserve nearly the amount of shit people give it.
even my grandpa worked there
Top reason to move to Rhode Island is dels frozen lemonade
The super Ostrich Mr. Lemon on Hawkins st blows dels AWAY
Mario Davia yea but u might get stabbed going there..such a shitty part of providence right there..crackheads for days over there...but yes...Mr. Lemon is awesome...just make sure your wearing your riot gear when u go
You forgot about Palagis, ice cream truck in Prov, east Prov, Barrington, and warren...great tigers blood for cheap prices
Might I suggest adding Peach Schnapps and strawberry vodka to that Del's? Yummy :)
Jkriz63 Palagis lemonade has the best texture.
Hello Julia how are you doing today.
Buddy did a lot for the city of Providence, he turned the whole city around from after it was in shambles
I agree. I think buddy at least cleaned up the city. I'm conservative & lived there 22 yrs. I kinda miss it. but not the politics.
You're re lit guy.
He made fed. Hill look nice
@@flinkostememniakgrant1266 really? I didnt know the mall was on the hill ? How about his clean up of Westminister ?
Yep, Providence sucked before Buddy!
DEFINITELY BETTER THAN CAPE COD! and far less traffic, too!!

Hello Lisa how are you doing today.
AGREED. Lived there for 20 years.
Could not wait to Get OUT, after college....
1. It may be small, but it's 3% bigger at low tide!
2. Buddy Cianci is dead.
3. Yes, there's snow. But with a climate that's moderated by the ocean (and the Gulf Stream) it's a lot more forgiving than any other New England state."
Hello marcie how are you doing today.
RI Emergency Vehicles I visited Rhode Island for a couple hours and I learned a lot about the state, to a point where I learned top 10 reasons to move there.
Top 10 reasons to move to Rhode Island
1. They film Family Guy there
2. You might run into Peter Griffin farting in your face if you get in his way
3. The famous K-Pop boy band Candy Quahog Marshmallow originated there
4. Rhode Island has a lot of history and museums dedicated to the Griffinist Revolution of 2025
5. Rhode Island has a small country inside of itself called Petoria.
What do jobs look like for delivery and library's? is there a curves in RI? What are the advantages and disadvantages for retirees and those on disabilities and are unable to work? Are the politics liberal or conservative? The reason I am asking is I want to move from WA to RI, and I need to know things before I want to truly move there.
I’m a born and raised Rhode Islander myself and you did a better job explaining our state in your comment. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I used to work at that Benny’s. It’s next to where the old Jerry Lewis movies used to be. My friend Sean used to work there and he would let me see the movies for free.

If he did one in England a reason would be the accent.

I love Rhode Island, Providence is one of my favorite city. I tried to eat at every restaurant in Federal Hill while I was there.
You ain’t from Prov then.

I lived through that! President Carter declared Rhode Island a Federal Disaster Area. We were frozen solid for ten days. So much for "Global Warming"!

Takes 45 minutes to drive through the whole state
Pernection SOOOOO true!
That's a good thing. Huge states, with low populations and huge representation are a problem.
That is wrong. I commute shorter then across the state. West to east, and it takes 50 minutes. It may take you 45 minutes from Massachusetts to Connecticut on 95, but that is going through only 2/3 of the state.
@Hardy Harhar You better be doing 90 on 95 if you think you can get through in less then 45 minutes.

Everyone who wrote something negative about Rhode Island has never been to Rhode Island
Move here for one month I dare you, double dare for the winter
The freaking cold weather in the winter is enough to keep me from moving there.

RI was actually the first county to succeed but since they actually succeeded from Britain before they eventually were the “13th” to join the Declaration of Independence but we in Rhode Island celebrate May 4th as RI Independence Day a month before the US did
I lived there until age 18 then 5 years in PA, 32 years in AR and now 1 year in MO. I visit my family in the beautiful New England summers or winter if somebody close gets married or dies. My family always welcomes me back for visits, I’m close to my sisters, nieces and nephews. I love Little Rhodey but in the winters are cold, wet and grey!
Hello Patti how are you doing today.
I am born and raised in Rhode island, I live in Indialantic Florida, I will always have a place in my heart for Rhode Island. If you live there now and you don't like it, just move some place else for a while - it will keep calling like an unpaid bill. It's hard to get RI out of your system for good.... Hello, how're you doing?
Still throwing shade at Connecticut. 😂 But great video on Connecticut though!
He hates Connecticut.
I agree that Connecticut is a feces hole of a state. It's too close to New York City.
shade? lol! You sound like you're in junior high!
suzycreamcheesez Yes, I said shade.... Your username look like its from first grade. Fuck outta here.
i live in Rhode island and i have my whole life, its perfect for me. i love the cold, im a sailor and the summers dont get too hot if you live on the water. the school system is amazing and stuff like that and one good thing about living in the smallest state is that you can get anywhere in an hour or less. i live in lincoln and it only takes 15 minutes to get to providence, 20 minutes to get to Bristol and 45 minutes to get to Newport (not counting block island) also we do have alot of accents, i personaly have a mix of an american accent and a hint of british accent (for some reason)
Hello Charlotte how are you doing today.
Rhode Island was the first state to legalize pot holes
Lol.
Don’t plenty of people do the reverse and work in MA while living in Providence? I’ve heard the commute to Boston isn’t bad.
I grew up in Warren, lived in Bristol and moved to pawtucket. God help me
Better than cranston or warwick. lol.
Pawtucket above Cranston.... Seriously???

R.I.P. Buddy,
You will be remembered fondly.
JOE OR GUS was he a good mayor? What did he do to gain all that loyalty?
As far as him making a few mistakes, there's an old saying in Providence " if you want to steal a dollar off the table, you better make sure there's enough money there where no one's going to notice"
He was truly hero of the working class, he was a great man who did a lot from the city, a city that he loved.
If you didn't grow up in Providence it's something you probably will never understand, he was our mayor.
Buddy was a great mayor he built up providence and cleaned it up plus he was Italian
Wish the Italians still ran Federal Hill. Now it's full of Hispanics, crime is way up. Won't catch me on Atwells Ave. I wish the Mafia would return and fix the dump.
Mr cianci did alot for Providence, he just got caught. the only thing I didn't like about lil Rhody was liberal policies.
I'm from Central Falls, born and raised , and never , in my life!, Have I've eaten a Johnny cake.
Rhode island isn't the hottest place but it's home.
I like Central Falls.... one square mile of paradise..... without the beach
It’s garbage.
@Frances Clam Cakes.
JP Spooner on Broad street, Cranston. So darn delicious!
Johnny cakes are popular down South County mostly
Accent is Boston/Brooklyn with smattering of f bombs..spot on lol

Thanks for watching.
Wendell Smith lol cianci the crack head. Yeah amazing place
I love RI
@@WorldAccordingToBriggs Rhode Island is the best state. We have theme parks, ski resorts, arcades, and water parks. The only person who should be allowed to make a video about RI is someone who ACTUALLY LIVES IN RI.
I’m from Rhode Island and I swim in the ocean everyday
Buddy was the man. He did more for the state than anyone
This guy is way off about Rhode Islanders not swimming more than a couple of days. Yes, the season is short, but that's why we make the most of it. And our beaches are beautiful.
Most people in RI love the state more than you can imagine though.
States are so quick to talk shit abt us when they dont know us
#1 yeah noooo...Actually people swim in the ocean in Rhode Island for the whole summer and even in September and May....
Number 11: there is no such city as Quahog, Rhode island. 😤
Ozymandias We know. We've know for like 15 years. Nice try though lol
It was a fake city that took place in Pawtucket, Rhode Island
Ozymandias lol
It’s pretty much just Cranston😂
@@jkriz6346 or pawtucket maybe east providence lol
im from rhode island:
1. we definitely swim in the ocean..?
2. most people hated buddy cianci
3. MA def has worse potholes than we do
4. you think most people are just chewing on some squid? its deep fried, calamari isnt an uncommon thing
5. its not boring, providence has an awesome nightlife, theres plenty of things to do if youre a nature person with lakes and literally so many beaches that are beautiful in the winter or summer. And if you really get bored, boston is less than an hour away
Actually the beaches in RI are used a lot of the summer I prefer colder water it is really refreshing. Also we have this thing where in the winter people go to the beach and swim because you feel colder than the water the water actually feels good it's weird.
