I went to Philly today on a field trip. During lunch, half my class ordered from Geno's & the other ordered from Pat's. Since we're from the suburbs, most of us didn't know about this war until 5 people brought Pat's cheesesteaks back to Geno's to sit with the rest of us. They were so pissed off. When I went to get my food, they even asked if I was with them. I said "We're sorry! They didn't know!" They were cool about it though and were nice to me. But it was the funniest thing I've ever seen.
lol, the orangeness. And oh my gosh, Joey invented the pressure washer. I also loved the "who has more at STAKE" and "that was so CHEESEY". That was a really good yet subtle one that I almost missed.
That video was adorable. The owner of Pat's cracked me up....what a personality. I liked the way he tried to sing along with you guys. I'd eat there just because of that. I'm sure both places are great places to eat though. Kudos to the two gents who made the film. Now come to Long Island and make a film about all of the 7-11's.
Delightful video guys! Your sonGs were fun to listen to and I love the genuine competition between these two cheese steak culinary creators!😄 I would definately try both if I got the chance!😂🥙
I've been going to Philly for years and have been to a bunch of Cheesesteak places, eaten Pats and Genos several times. I went this past weekend and had the best cheesesteak of my life at Pat's. It was so much meat, perfect amount of cheese and onions. On the flip side though i have also had one of the worst steaks at Pat's. They have real consistency issues, but when they're on, god damn they're on.
If I travel to Philly, I'm gonna make sure I go there and try both. Thanks guys for the fun review. It was cool to see on google street view that Pat's and Geno's were both very busy at that time of the day.
This was a great one! I kind of liked it better than the youtubers, You guys should hit a NYC pizza joint or something because IMO pepperoni pizza really does give the most indigestion, it would really speak well of the power of Alka-Seltzer. Oh and on the marketing side, put those Intergalatic Food Smugglers t-shirts on sale!
Genos is better tell you why: 1. Pats grounds up their meat, and you bite its like mushy baby food, geno's has more bite to it. 2. Genos has better quality bread, Pats is soggy. From a first timer to both of them.
1.54 ''I got 2 words for him and it a'int gonna be happy birthday!''- Brilliant, I will endeavour to use this one all week! XX P.S This is much better than the singing cheese thing Rhett and Link!
it's like the tootsie pop commercial from the 70's. "the world may never know!". this video made me so hungry...now i gotta get my car...sit in labor day traffic and decide which one i want along the way. i know this much however...either one is worth the 15 minute drive!
I don't understand why people from far and wide would come to have something they can prepare in their kitchen so simple all they do is steak grilled onions and cheese whiz
I had a dream that The Artie Clear Show while he was doing his his show LIVE at the South Philly Bar & Grill (between Geno's & Pat's) brought this Cheese Steak War right out into the streets and thousands of people turned out for this event! Go Artie, Go Artie!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went to Geno's about a year ago. The lady in front of me asked if she could have her beef cut up a little. The guy taking the order said "no"! He said, "we don't do that here, if you want that go somewhere else". The lady goes "I was here last night and they did it"...The manager comes over and says "who did it for you". The lady pointed the guy out that served her last night. The manger goes "Your fired!!! Get the heck out of here!" Never again will I eat at Geno's...Jim's on South St!!!!!!!
Geno's gets more business, at 2:00 AM there's a line reaching across the street, Pat's line never makes me stop my car, and Geno's is Mark Apsolon Approved, lol!
I like how a lot of the people commenting aren't even from Philly. Don't be jelly because no where else in the country can replicate our signature food.
Aww! Poor Speedy! He was sent to the back of the line all because of his inability to talk. Speedy must have a hard life as an inanimate object. On a lighter note, I enjoyed Part II of the Cheesesteak Wars!
That is a friendly, funny rivalry! The Pat's guy is hilarious! The Geno's guy reminds me of the gangstas out here in Little Italy (NY). I like 'em both.
"What does flash taste like?" 2:21. Good point, I must say. Never eaten at any of these places, but from what I've heard from countless friends in Philly, John's Roast Pork is the best. Again, never eaten at any of these places, but this is what I hear.
I've been to dozens of restauarants throughout Philly that make steak sandwiches. I've had them with & without cheese, onions, pepperoni, mushrooms, etc., at more places than I care to recite here and BY FAR the very best place to get a steak sandwich is "One Pound Cheesesteaks" (2661 Kensington Ave), at the corner of Kensington & Lehigh. Not only do they make the best steak sandwiches in the entire city, but they make them in 5 minutes or less!
Sure they did. Samoset even spoke English before the arrival of the Pilgrims. The Pilgrims were astonished when Samoset strolled straight through the middle of Plymouth Colony and greeted them in English. Later, Samoset showed up with Squanto who spoke even better English.
I liked Geno's. When my family went to Philedelphia My parents ordered two sandwhiches from Pat's and I ordered some from Geno's. Everyone like's Pat's except ME! I ordered in complete sentences with a polite smile and the Geno guy was like "She's not from here."
This was great! I think Mr. Olivieri probably has a good voice. Sounds like he can carry a tune. Joey is a riot! Put some lights up ova thayre!! RIP Joey Vento
I finally went to both places last weekend. No bias, no expectations. Geno's was good. Pat's was dry and not very hot, considering they had just made it. But maybe we were there on a bad night.
What's interesting is that the colour orange has actually been linked to making people feel hungry. It's one of the main reasons that Bob Evans restaurants have orange roofs. :) Wow, whodathunk that obnoxious Advertising and PR class I had to take in college would come in handy!?!
I don't go to Pat's for the ambiance. I go for the world's best cheeseateaks! I plan to replicate that recipe for my cooking show here. Geno's is nothing but flash, but their cheesesteaks are sub par.
I cant say I've ever had a cheesesteak before, let alone been to America, but if I had to choose between Pats and Genos, I would pick Pats simply because it was where Rocky eats his cheesesteaks. For reference, watch 'Rocky Jumped the Park Bench'
You really can't go wrong getting a steak anywhere in Philly. My favorite is Steve's, though. The worst I ever had was at, and get ready for this: I got a PHILLY cheesesteak, at a NEW YORK deli, in BALTIMORE.
Went to a concert in Philly last year and of course I had to have a cheesesteak while in the city of brotherly love. I went to Pats and Geno's and they were average at best. The next day I tried two local favorites Tony Lukes and Jims Steaks. They were certainly an improvement but nothing to write home about. I can get a steak and cheese sub at any pizza place that would be just as good. Great concert but the cheesesteak experience was definitely a dissapointment.
I had to try both after I saw "Sandwiches that you will like" on PBS. EATING TOUR USA!!! Ibor City Cuban Sandwhiches are the best. America is amazing in general.
I like what Robin Wiliams said about the Philly cheesesteaks,in 300 hundred years when anthropologist are digging up bones,.in the shilly area, they will find skeletons with undigested philly cheesesteaks, gotta love Robin
They forgot to show Geno's best feature.....a sign on his front window that reads "This is America...when ordering, please speak english" But, I agree no one from Philly eats at either of those places.
Two different sandwiches.. I like them both and the people are so dam friendly, the older woman at Geno's was such a wonderful lady.. Geno's steak is sliced and not chopped up like Pat's... I think the chopped up steak makes an easier sandwitch to eat.. The bread at Pats is better than the harder roll you get at Geno's.. I like both and its hard to say which one is better.. I think you have to try them and decide yourself. It is quite a scene there
Pat's and Geno's are just tourist traps. I have never met a local that recommended either of the two.
I'm from California and a Philadelphia native told me that jims is better than both of these spots. So I agree.
Correct. Steves Prince of Steaks
I’m local and Pat’s is the only one I’ll eat 🤷🏻♀️
yall need to come to my gramma house we got hot chocolate
Phillips is better
Tourist traps, both of them. Can't even rate them in the top ten.
Steve's and Tony Luke's are the real places
True, Both are just average, Nothing special .
Not in the top 10 of thousands???
I went to Philly today on a field trip. During lunch, half my class ordered from Geno's & the other ordered from Pat's. Haha that was sweet!! Your house is orange?
That video was adorable. The owner of Pat's cracked me up....what a personality. I liked the way he tried to sing along with you guys. I'd eat there just because of that. LMFAO "I got 2 words for him & its not gonna be Happy Birthday!"
JOEY INVENTED THE PRESSURE WASHER!
hahah awesome work!
-charlestrippy
Charles Trippy
LOL your home is orange?! nice one guys
Delightful video guys! Your sonGs were fun to listen to and I love the genuine competition between these two cheese steak culinary creators!😄 I would definately try both if I got the chance!😂🥙
"that was cheesy" haha....cracks me up..I'm so glad you made that pun
We say Geno's, of course :)
genos all the way!!!
No
YAY
Geno's Steaks - Since 1966. GENO'S IS THE ACE OF STEAKS... RIP JOEY...
This video made me and my cousin want to drive out to eat. Great work guys!!
I've been going to Philly for years and have been to a bunch of Cheesesteak places, eaten Pats and Genos several times. I went this past weekend and had the best cheesesteak of my life at Pat's. Lived here all my life never been to neither of them
you're so cool
All your life? Not yet you haven't, unless something happened to you since your comment.
Aww that was funny. Cute old philly men. I like the surprise ending of you two in the middle of the road haha
If I travel to Philly, I'm gonna make sure I go there and try both. Thanks guys for the fun review. It was cool to see on google street view that Pat's and Geno's were both very busy at that time of the day.
Did you go to Philly
@@graythaprince sadly, not yet
HAHA! Yet another brilliant episode of the Alka Seltzer Great American Road Trip -
I loved when Link sat with the 6 dollars "can i keep this?"
Eww, if your putting liquid processed cheese (cheese whiz) on it instead of real cheese, you already lost.
You guys are great! Now I want a bite. I love Philly Cheese Steaks!
well i gotta admit - this short DOES actually have the Philly flavor down, and it makes both Steakerias look decent.
so yeah, great job gents.
Both of these places are tourist traps!!! Everyone knows in philly that they aren't the best
Genos is better tell you why:
1. Pats grounds up their meat, and you bite its like mushy baby food, geno's has more bite to it.
2. Genos has better quality bread, Pats is soggy.
From a first timer to both of them.
I love these so much.
1.54 ''I got 2 words for him and it a'int gonna be happy birthday!''- Brilliant, I will endeavour to use this one all week!
XX
P.S This is much better than the singing cheese thing Rhett and Link!
I miss Philly. Miss authentic cheesesteaks so much. Gotta find my way back there. This video is both nostalgic as hell and making my ass hungry
I've had both, Geno's was best.
Nah pats
+MightyBacca PvP I tasted both. I thought Geno's was the best.
"who have got the most at steak." "that was chessey."
LMAO!
it's like the tootsie pop commercial from the 70's. "the world may never know!". this video made me so hungry...now i gotta get my car...sit in labor day traffic and decide which one i want along the way. i know this much however...either one is worth the 15 minute drive!
Excellent work gents. The series is fantastic. (=
The orangeness...it makes me feel at home."
"Your home is orange?"
"well...yeah."
LOL
Who's here from IDUBBBZ
austintheawks me
I don't understand why people from far and wide would come to have something they can prepare in their kitchen so simple all they do is steak grilled onions and cheese whiz
For real. Just get a box frozen sandwich steaks & all the fixins. Make yourself a cheesesteak at the crib for much cheaper.
pat and geno are like the mac and pc guys of the cheese steak world
Pat's only because Rocky was filmed there back in '76, How freakin' awesome is that!!!

You speak the truth my friend. You speak the truth.
Went to Geno's with my brother in summer 2016, and we met and got a picture with THE Captain Obvious in line. One of the highlights of my life.
On a lighter note, I enjoyed Part II of the Cheesesteak Wars!
thats so cool that you guys get to travel and do everything.

Is Pat really wearing a shirt that says "Mario is my Homeboy?"
lololololol
Pat's wins because the owner is wearing a "Mario is my homeboy" t-shirt.
Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition! =]
I thought you guys released this one already. It is great though.
Sure they did. Samoset even spoke English before the arrival of the Pilgrims. The Pilgrims were astonished when Samoset strolled straight through the middle of Plymouth Colony and greeted them in English. Later, Samoset showed up with Squanto who spoke even better English.

I had a Philly Cheese Steak in Reading Food Market. Fantastic just doesn't do it justice!
Pat is the apple person,Gino is the windows person xD
I finally went to both places last weekend. No bias, no expectations. Geno's was good. Pat's was dry and not very hot, considering they had just made it. But maybe we were there on a bad night.
Well this was a very competitive video
rip joey vento
***** actually that's not ironic at all. it would be ironic if the maker of healthy, low fat foods died of a heart attack
RIP...💜💜💜💜
1. Tony Luke's
2. Delassandro's
3. Pat's
4. Pudge's
5. Geno's
Honorable Mention: Steve's Prince of Steaks
Love it, good job guys.
i think theyre both good, it just goes back n forth on whos better depending on how drunk i am when i get down there
What's interesting is that the colour orange has actually been linked to making people feel hungry. It's one of the main reasons that Bob Evans restaurants have orange roofs. :) Wow, whodathunk that obnoxious Advertising and PR class I had to take in college would come in handy!?!
I love Rhett and Link videos and their intro song to this!!!
Lol “put some lights up over there!”
I don't go to Pat's for the ambiance. I go for the world's best cheeseateaks! I plan to replicate that recipe for my cooking show here. Geno's is nothing but flash, but their cheesesteaks are sub par.
Look at Pat's shirt it says " Mario is my homeboy." HE WON THE BATTLE!
I've been to Pat's. I live about a half hour away in New Jersey. That's good shit.
I can't believe he died, RIP Joey Vento! My condolences to the family too.
I cant say I've ever had a cheesesteak before, let alone been to America, but if I had to choose between Pats and Genos, I would pick Pats simply because it was where Rocky eats his cheesesteaks. For reference, watch 'Rocky Jumped the Park Bench'
Those are tourist places. The best cheesesteaks are the neighborhood places. Philly-born and raised!!!!!!!
If I lived in Philly I would give my heart about two years before it exploded.
I like both, but the last 1 I went to was Geno's. My favorite is in my childhood neighborhood: New City Line Pizza on City Line Ave.
If I was Pat's I would be pissed. Create the cheesesteak then somebody opens up a cheesesteak joint right across from you.
That's american way baby.
.free world
YO! Philly ROCKS! Pat's and Geno's are BOTH GREAT!
As for "Speedy"--he looks like he's from "Village Of The Damned"...
JOEY INVENTED THE PRESSURE WASHERRRRRR
You really can't go wrong getting a steak anywhere in Philly. My favorite is Steve's, though.
The worst I ever had was at, and get ready for this:
I got a PHILLY cheesesteak, at a NEW YORK deli, in BALTIMORE.
Anyone here at 2019
Either one of these places. They are considered the two best places to get cheese steaks.
Fun Fact: Alfred Kärcher actually invented the first hot-water high-pressure washer hahaha
true brotherly love, taking a bite from the side that has already been bitten from
Went to a concert in Philly last year and of course I had to have a cheesesteak while in the city of brotherly love. I went to Pats and Geno's and they were average at best. 1:57 For a split second, I thought he was going to say Watch Me Whip, Watch Me Nae Nae, even though this video was made it 2008.
I had to try both after I saw "Sandwiches that you will like" on PBS. EATING TOUR USA!!!
Ibor City Cuban Sandwhiches are the best. America is amazing in general.
I like Pat more, he's so adorable.
I like what Robin Wiliams said about the Philly cheesesteaks,in 300 hundred years when anthropologist are digging up bones,.in the shilly area, they will find skeletons with undigested philly cheesesteaks, gotta love Robin
Link in ripped jeans....yassssss
Genos is clearly better. Thats all I got to say.
I grew up right down the street from there on Sears Street!
They forgot to show Geno's best feature.....a sign on his front window that reads "This is America...when ordering, please speak english"
But, I agree no one from Philly eats at either of those places.
Genos better
Shoaib Khan fuk no
No one beats Pat's!
You don't know what flash tastes like?
Go to the back of the line!
When I saw they were in the middle of the road...oh you guys.
Pats is better than Genos. The meat is better.
I've never been to Philly, but Pat's wins because the owner is wearing a Mario shirt.
sure its not henna lol
I'd save my money & make my own at home BUT if i had to choose, i'd definitely go to pats. They just seem to have a more down to earth vibe to me.
Two different sandwiches.. I like them both and the people are so dam friendly, the older woman at Geno's was such a wonderful lady.. Geno's steak is sliced and not chopped up like Pat's...
