I was born, raised, and still live in California, but Philadelphia stole my heart during my first visit there in 2008. Part of that is due to Reading Terminal Market. I have been back only once and it made miss the city even more. I have never felt at home, away from home, anywhere else but Philadelphia. I wish I had a market like this near me.
You are not alone. I am from Mexico, lived in philly for a semester and I just cant stop thinking about it since I left. Loved the place, the food, the people. My dream is to live there again.
Omg I can relate to that so much! I was there last week, I live in the Midwest and i felt like I was at home in Philadelphia. I've always felt some sort of weird connection to Pennsylvania even though I had never been there till last week and now I've decided that I'm going to move to either Philadelphia or west chester. Once again, the connection I feel to those places I just cannot explain. So to me that means I have to be there, I have to live there and that's what I'm going to do.
It's not that she would throw those away. Think further. She must have brought it home or to office and share it with everyone. tsk tsk tsk. Talk about shallow-minded.
WHYY! Terry Gross and her guests have accompanied my on my commute home so many times I couldn't even begin to make a count. Probably thousands of hours. She's one of the best interviewers in the business. If I had to make a list of the top five greatest Philadelphians, she would definitely be on the list.
I visited that place two weeks ago, and I was impressed. For a foodie like me, that place is paradise. Loved it! I will take my family and spend a couple of hours there.
Great video Adina! I enjoyed the walk through the grand terminal. Watching you explore all the different flavors of the world is very entertaining to watch.
I've been there once, but unfortunately it was on day of the week when Amish markets were closed. But the Dinic's roasted pork & provolone was awesome. I actually like this sandwich better than the Philly cheesesteak
My go tos: Shanghai palace for the crispiest spring rolls. The rib place by the donut shop for delicious ribs. Bassets for ice cream. Fourth street cookies for the best chocolate chip cookies, Treminis for cannolis. Sweet Nina’s for banana pudding. And this random shop that sells sushi. Anyone have any recommendations?
Great video! Covered many of the significant shops at this wonderful market well and efficiently. Congratulations to the producers and editors as well as the presenter. Unfortunately you didn’t cover Wursthaus Schmitz which, very regrettably, closed in 2018. One of the few places where really authentic German and Austrian sausages could be found.
And the Reading Railroad itself was pro preservation to the point the Terminal still stands as a Convention Hall, 4 T1 Northerns including superstar 2102 survive
The W.C fields quote was for a magazine Interview and he offered an imaginary epitaph- “Here lies W.C. Fields. I would rather be living in Philadelphia.” As for Lebanon baloney, it “Leb a nin”
She ain't from PA, you could tell right off the bat when she said LAN-caster instead of LANC-aster. Also, that Scrapple was definitely not "extra crispy," looked undercooked to me..
I’m from MD but spent a long time in Lebanon and Lancaster city. Immediately felt something with both pronunciations. She did say she was from around there though so *shrug*
Also, to add, I really enjoyed watching this episode and all of her other episodes. Incredibly knowledgeable and enjoyable as this is how I would spend my free time if I were not stuck at home. :(
tbh im not sure how i feel about things being "local" like i prefer it to be made in my city because it makes you feel more included i guess but local doesnt always mean good or fresh
The hostess is correct in her description. This group of people were originally Swiss-German. The use of the word "Dutch" is a local malapropism for "Deutsch".
Nice but it reads like an advert for the Beef and Dairy council. You missed all te wonderful produce and Asian shoppes (except of course the meat - duck). There is so much more there than what is covered here. Wonderful place to eat or shop.
They should sell smaller sizes of every dish cause i will have to go many, many times to try all the things i want at the market. The last time i went for a Philly Cheese Steak i end up having a lobster roll and i was so full that i couldn’t eat no more. 😁
I drive UBER black downtown mostly and if anyone ever needs a tip from the airport were to go to taste Philly after getting of the plane I make a B line to reading terminal. If you never had a Dinic's pulled pork it might be the single greatest sandwich in the country with the broccoli and the Provolone they use is so sharp it will make you loose your mind.
1:23 ok what's the deal with giving out so much milk? Are you expected to drink it all? What if you don't, do they use it again? Why not just have a small jug for you? Or is it communal? I don't think so because the people next to her also have their own container full... So many questions...

I'm French Australian and Philadelphia is my 2nd favourite International city in the World. I could easily live there, I love the history.
@@markpasse9691 what’s your favorite?
@@timx9661 French and Asian food. We have a wonderful variety in Australia. We are blessed.
Me and my wife come over from Macclesfield England each year and ALWAYS head for Reading Terminal,The choice is fantastic.
My publisher is in Manchester but my heart is in Reading terminal. See you next time you’re there!
She is amazing! She is a great host. Her words and her character make this show
She has a nice rack as well
Proposition: I follow you around and finish all the food you try. I would do this as a public service so as not to waste food. Call me.
It's not that she would throw those away. Think further. She must have brought it home or to office and share it with everyone. tsk tsk tsk. Talk about shallow-minded.
Fajar Setiawan Well you clearly can’t understand the concept of a joke lmfao
Fajar Setiawan irony is real here...
um??? why are you assuming she dodn't finish the food she order. LOL

M Ouija This woman works at WHYY?
Man im amazed they could film alright in there, its usually realllly packed in there that it feels like a highschool hallway
Usually?
Went to the Philly flower show 2020 and it was sad to see the flower show not busy and the terminal was empty.
If you come there after about 2:30, it's not packed at all.
LOVE this place. I could spend 3 or 4 days there, no crap.Any trip to the city, this is a must see.
This girl can eat! And can accurately describe what she’s chewing! A joy to watch!😊
I LOVE Reading Terminal Market
Those Amish pretzels have crack in them. That's what I believe, someone needs to disprove it
I visited that place two weeks ago, and I was impressed. For a foodie like me, that place is paradise. Loved it! I will take my family and spend a couple of hours there.
One of the foodie meccas in Philadelphia. One of the spots when traveling there.
9:01 Those would actually be pork stalactites as they were hanging down. Pork stalagmites would grow up from underneath. 😁
mites go up tights come down
Belier donuts the salted glaze donut thats philadelphia in a bite , line starts at 7am when they open.
I thought they gave her a huge piece of toast, never had scrapple that thick before. I like it thin and crispy:)
YESSSS crispyyyyyyy
Philly is a low key world class food city
5:20 "Please do not drool on glass :)"
the duck looks amazing!
It's good!
Sang Kee also has a restaurant in Chinatown, basically a 5 minute walk from the Market, if you don’t feel like dealing with the crowd.
Yum I'm love the Reading Terminal Market, some of the freshest food in the city.☺
I love this market. So many choices. Every time I come to Philly I come here.
Great video Adina! I enjoyed the walk through the grand terminal. Watching you explore all the different flavors of the world is very entertaining to watch.
One of my favorite places in Philly... but try finding a seat for lunch. 🤣
i could watch this series alllll day!!!!!!
I was there Thursday. Bassett's ice cream all the way. Bring a suitcase for your grocery purchases...
I LOVE READING MARKET
This why Philly is the greatest city in the U.S.
Philadelphia has the BEST food in the world!!!!!
My wife and I used to go to the seafood restaurant with the red stools. Wondrful clam chowder.
I was there once. I'll never forget it.
This is why Philly is so great!
Funny to me she’s talking about all these hard to find Mexican ingredients and I’m sitting here in az picking them up at Kroger.
Don't worry, I called I.c.e.
Yeah indiana kroger has all that too.
This may be the best reason to visit Philly!
I've been there once, but unfortunately it was on day of the week when Amish markets were closed. But the Dinic's roasted pork & provolone was awesome. I actually like this sandwich better than the Philly cheesesteak
I've had it too pal
Love Philly 💕
I could spend a week just here. There are sooooo many places to eat,
I have tried scrapple before, and it is delicious.
Pork Stock, Pork, Pork Skins, Corn Meal, Wheat Flour, Pork Hearts, Pork Livers, Pork Tongues, Salt and Spices
That's composed of offal if I'm not wrong?
Everything but the oink
I watched and love all your series, it is very interesting and full of knowledge. Hope you would do some more of it. Please please please
I absolutely love this channel. Please keep it going!! We need new episodes. :)
Bassett's Ice Cream, world's best.
If only i could thumb ups this video 100times
How the heck are you not as big as a blimp? LOL
I love that place.

Vistied Reading Terminal Market this weekend and it was awesome! Scrapple at The Dutch Eating Place is deliscious🙂
I have along days watching she eats and I enjoy it 😍
that is a heavenly place! thanks for this video.

Unfortunately you didn’t cover Wursthaus Schmitz which, very regrettably, closed in 2018. One of the few places where really authentic German and Austrian sausages could be found.
Excellent report. You hit all of my favorite places except Old City Coffee, John Yi’s, and the Down Home Diner. 😘
Finally a video without 1000 annoying comments correcting everything she says.
And the Reading Railroad itself was pro preservation to the point the Terminal still stands as a Convention Hall, 4 T1 Northerns including superstar 2102 survive
I have celiac disease, and all I want to do is eat some French bread, or some kind of artisan bread.
3:40 I GO TO SCHOOL IN MORGANTOWN
Also I love the reading terminal market
The W.C fields quote was for a magazine Interview and he offered an imaginary epitaph- “Here lies W.C. Fields. I would rather be living in Philadelphia.”
As for Lebanon baloney, it “Leb a nin”
Pancakes, scrapple, deli meat butter milk, all kinds of different cheeses, and duck fat. I know her breath is KICKIN!!! Lmao
Shes butchering the PA pronunciation of Lebanon. "Leb-nan" 😂
She ain't from PA, you could tell right off the bat when she said LAN-caster instead of LANC-aster. Also, that Scrapple was definitely not "extra crispy," looked undercooked to me..

I wonder how this market will change after the pandemic?? Always wanted to go. Hope it doesn’t change too much.
Still up and running just not packed crazy with a bunch of ppl
so many great places to choose from there, I had a roast pork sandwich, the baclva and so much more. scrapple is great too.
Excellent video. I went to Reading Terminal Market as a kid and remember much of what you showed.
Reading Terminal Market smokes the Pike Place Market.
I've been to Di Nicks. multiple times but haven't had the brisket sandwich yet.
Lol. That boys' bowl cut. Cute haha
tbh im not sure how i feel about things being "local" like i prefer it to be made in my city because it makes you feel more included i guess but local doesnt always mean good or fresh
they make it in the farms right outside the city, not across the country.
Bassets Rum Raisin.
One of the best ice creams You’ll ever eat.
That was a great video I really want those pancakes and scraple and bacon she left out where do I park and how much do I pay 15 20 or $25 for parking
Train!! Less aggravating and you don't have to pay for parking...
I am so in love right now.
the food is very cheap compared to houston farmers maket or specialty store. a pretzel for $2.15 and deli meat $3.99 lb is very cheap
It looks delicious. Please show us what should be more important for us to learn from your videos and help.
Really informative video. You are definitely a knowledgeable host!
Great host, great vid.
Did you eat all the food you bought?Wow you have a good apetite nice
My take on the video is if you spent a week at the market you'd weigh 350 pounds and your cardiologist would be on speed dial.
I really need to branch out and not just go to my usual spots in the market.
ur face when u ate the yogurt 😂😂😂😂😂
I hope you know Dutch means from the Netherlands and deutsch is a German word for from Germany
The hostess is correct in her description. This group of people were originally Swiss-German. The use of the word "Dutch" is a local malapropism for "Deutsch".

Stalactites, not stalagmites on the pork at the peking duck place
I’m going here at my stop to Phili for my school field trip
Scrapple? Lebanon Bologna? 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
i wish someone would do this for the Broadway Market in Buffalo.
Love going there!
Best US market!
They should sell smaller sizes of every dish cause i will have to go many, many times to try all the things i want at the market. The last time i went for a Philly Cheese Steak i end up having a lobster roll and i was so full that i couldn’t eat no more. 😁
More than likely, that duck was locally raised in Berks County.
I'm getting distracted from the food... can't stop watching tho
How do she taste all that stuff and still film...true editing at it's best 🤣
You didn’t go to the coffee shop, all the fresh blends of coffee beans, best spot to get fresh coffee beans
I love watching her read labels all episode
I drive UBER black downtown mostly and if anyone ever needs a tip from the airport were to go to taste Philly after getting of the plane I make a B line to reading terminal. If I walked around the supermarket eating all the food, I'd get arrested but you seem to have no problems!! :)
Callie Masters that’s bc they make arrangements ahead of time before filming. Do you not understand how editing works?
What about the ethnic food there? Its amazing!
The Amish counter is the best place to eat at thé Reading terminal market
Reading da best
You had me at the cinnamon buns
Charming video and host
I chose RT over a 5 star spot lol yup i said it
It gets very crowded in there I don't go as much
It's not the Oldest Lexington Market in Baltimore is the Oldest.
Wow! If Adina ate like that everyday, she'd weigh 300 lbs! Try Luhv Vegan Deli instead!
i watch your video everyday .. you my idol edina steinman ^_^
