Man I thought that engine was done when you said low compression. Didn’t know that rings would stick after sitting awhile. Good to know because I’ve got an xlt1200.
@@ernestl709 If the other battery does the same thing / tighten all the connections on the battery and solenoid. A loose wire could cause it but usually the battery.
I got a yamaha gp800 and I have an ignition problem, selenoid clicking , but what I see is that it makes a different noise than the one in the video, Do I have to check something else first or do I definitely have to replace the solenoid?
Use a test light or volt meter to check for 12 volts. Hook a volt meter to the ground and the positive to the primary power wire on the solenoid there will be 2. One is constant 12v the other side will show 12v once the start button is pushed. If there is no voltage once the start button is pushed the solenoid is bad. If it shows 12v then the starter is bad or engine is locked.
Got a 98 gp800 and it runs fine but just started not revving up to power it will start and put around but if you pull on throttle it will only go like half of that. The impeller is not jammed up any idea?
Check and see if the power-valve motor is turning the pv wheel while revving the engine. It could also be a carburetor issue. unfortunately sever things can cause that.
That looks like a xl800 not a go800 how I no it’s the decals I own a xl 800 since 2001 the decals are green the xl800 is green Yamaha called it forest green on that model back in 2001 i thought I help only nice video to😁👍

is the engine erving to full rpm and the ski just doesn’t go above half speed ? or does the rpm’s not increase.
@@865-customz it won’t rev to full rpm it was fine last season then Al of a sudden it won’t rev up full rpm to pick up speed
