OMG finally! Someone actually took the time to explain, illustrate, and point out exactly where each wire goes and what it's purpose. Dude thank you so much, I wish I could at least buy you a beer and btw I totally dig that custom headliner, it looks fantastic! Kudos and cheers my friend.
I second this. 💯👌👍
Yes best demonstration ever
I still don't understand why he said to use a relay to keep high volts out of the cabin. I understood that these lights and the witch is only 12 volts. Maybe it is the amps that is higher?
Great comment. I too am a fan of the headliner.
@@Deontjie LED lights draw very low amperage these days, but if you add a bunch or lights, or have a large light bar you don't want the entire amp draw running through the switch. By using the relay you can get any cheap switch you desire, vs paying a pile of money for one that can handle the amp draw through it.
This guy is really easy to listen to and understand . He’s got great communication skills . I have been trying to figure this shot out for days watching vids . So glad I found this guy . Very knowledgeable
Agree with that, but I do it more easy way.
Instead of external switch, I use high beam on cars or motorcycle work as a switch.
Only need on wire joint with on of your High beam wire behind bulb or relay from the vehicle , so High beam switch on relay to your external lights - led.
Instead of using switch and deactivate high beam when you meet someone.
Use only high beam of the vehicle to turn off and on 🙂
You have no idea how many videos I watched until I saw this one. It explains everything I needed! Life savor!
Glad it helped!
Wading through so much crap and totally useless vids before I found this... perfect description, perfect educational vid... thanks dude..really explained well and foolproof..
Glad you found it helpful!
Finally a real life actual use of a relay and switch, thanks so much.
The best video I’ve seen that explains everything perfectly, just put up my rock lights in my truck thanks to you
The video is very well explained except when you mention low and high voltage it should be low and high current for the voltages are the same 12v
Yes, that is correct. thank you for catching that
Does the same apply for 24volt relay connection
Wish I could like this video twice! Great job with the the editing and keeping on task. Very enjoyable and informative. Thank you.
Oh man, thanks! Nobody ever goes into detail on switch powering (Especially the safe ways to do so). Been looking for what feels like a few hours to finally find this.
Perfect explanation. I pretty much figured out a relay by wiring so many amps in my vehicles. Constant 12v, ign, remote, ground.
Your video helped me visualize it all and put it together. Wiring in a switch for the relay is what was confusing me but now I got it. Thanks a lot man!
Thank You for explaining “Switched - Non Switched.”
FINALLY after watching 10 bad videos, total clarity :)
Yes every other video they are drawing diagrams circuits and confuse the shit outta me.
@@donerae8682 resistance is futile lol
There are a million videos explaining a relay and I’ve watched a lot of them. This is by far the best explanation I’ve seen. Thanks man!
Glad it helped you! there is no reason this stuff need to be over complicated
You explained this perfectly! After watching 20 videos on this and having a general idea of how it works...your video really cemented it for me! Thanks man!
Love the headliner, and nice beard! Thanks for the better instructions. I'm a diagram/schematic type woman, and your showing your actual wires and the paper was more helpful than other vids I have watched. I'm finished looking. Thanks!
FINALLY!!! The exact video I needed :)
Yeah Baby! EXACTLY the right vid.
This is probably the most accurate and clear instructional video I have ever watched. Good job man!
'currently working on an old hatchback, this is such a big help!👌
Hey, glad you enjoyed it.
I was lucky. This was the third video I watched and it was EXCELLENT. Put fog lights in the car but had no idea how to wire up a relay. Now I do!
You broke it down just right and now I feel confident that I can handle my fog light installation for my cross country journey. I am heading back to Jersey from California in the next 30 to 60 days. I noticed your tag on your Jeep, so maybe its a Jersey thing why I was able to understand the proper way and safe way to handle this install. Thanks again, I will look forward to hearing some more things on how to maintain and upgrade my ride!
Thanks for the comment. Glad you enjoyed it
Today it's was my best day, I learned what was always confusing me about the relay because every time when am adding accessories I use only fuse and I always wish to add relay but the problem is I don't know how it work. As from today I'll use it.
Thank you so much man,,,you're STAR...
Thank you so much for this. I’ve been trying to figure out how to run my 4 cable lit switch to my new light bar and this finally helped me wrap my brain around what to do. The kit I bought came with a switch with three wires coming out of the back and it was ugly so I got a different switch and it had 4 wires so I had to figure out what to do and your explanations helped me get there! Thanks!
This has to be one of the best video step by step with simply explanations how to install your lights out there. Great job! 👍
That was clear and perfect. Thank you very much. I have always used the supplied wiring kit for installing after market lights, this time I wanted to do it on my own and saved some money. That was the info I needed to know how to begin this project. Your awesome man. Ty.
I've watched at least 2 dozen of these videos that explain how to wire a relay and this one was by far the best and clearest one. Thanks!
Glad it helped! Thanks for the feedback!
Thanks for the clarity in explaining what a relay does and SHOWING how the wires are connected to the pins on the relay AND where the wires from the relay are routed to and connected. I finally understand what a relay does and how to safely wire auxiliary lights.
Great video ! This is a SIMPLE explanation of how a circuit with a relay works for lights or anything accessory. Great job! Now I know
Thank you so much!! This is the only video out of at least 10-15 I’ve watched that actually explains and demonstrates what I needed.
Hey brother just wanted to say thank you for your video i was struggling all day trying to figure this out for a light bar and little did I know a video from 6 years ago was the answer lol I really appreciate the help sir!
dude you rock! the first video i've found that not only explains IN DEPTH how it works, but also shows how it works. i haven't touched electrical since 10th grade auto class (legit just soldering wires and doing butt connects + heat shrink, nothing actually powered), now i know i can handle doing the LED rear bar and the front LED bumper pods on my 89 YJ. Thank you for this video!!!
GREAT MAN 👍 Finally I watched a RUclips video which taught me something I saw first time, never knew anything about how relay works.. Thank You
I know you made this a few years ago but thanks for making this! I have never wired anything before and I need to set up some lights on a plow... This is exactly what I needed!
This Video is the 1st Video that I've had watch that show's in fine, slow, smooth, accurate Wiring Detailed Diagram how to wire up a Relay Switch. With Light's & With a Switch.
Thank You for breaking it down so easy.
I concur with Jessica Herzog!! The exact video I searched many days for thank you good sir!
I am electric illiterate, but your vid is the best for understanding basic 12v wiring. Thank you.
He knows what's he doing. nice explanation good job 👏
The best explanation of this subject. You sir are a great teacher. Thank you so much
Well thanks you. I am glad you found it helpful
Thanks for the vid, this is exactly what I was looking for and it was explained perfectly. 👌
This finally explained what I needed to know. None of the others did it, you sir are the best.
Thanks bud! Glad it helped!
Yes! This brought my wiring job full circle. Thank you!
You get a thumbs up from me. Thank you so much every other video I looked up wanted to draw on a board rather than show which wire went where. The biggest part that helped me out was how the switch wired up. That was the key that solved my issue. Much appreciated for the info.
Thank you so much for putting this in plain English. This is the best video and explanation I have seen.
You made it easy for me to get my lights wired correctly. Many thanks!!!
You’re a damn good teacher to us that know nothing about wiring . Found just what I needed. Ty
This is the best explanation ive seen of all relay demonstrations on aYOU Tube. This was so helpful.
Great video, very easy to follow and does exactly as intended, thanks for the help 👍
I liked it. Your explanation is very good. Even you do recap. It's Excellent bro.
Wow, thank you for the thorough and informative video. I am trying to do auxiliary lights on my Ford F150 and this was the perfect video. Nobody went into detail on what circuits could be used for powering your toggle switch inside. Thanks again for a great video!
Glad it helped. Good luck with your project!
Man you thought me so much!! Thanks so much. Took me a while to find proper explanation as to why i might need a relay or not, and how to wire it! Awesome!! Can wire my aux lights on motorbike and my foglights on my car properly thanks to you!
Thank you for the very useful information. Great job on the video. I learned something that I can put into practical use. Your step by step instructions were easy to understand especially by electrical wiring idiots like me!
Great vid. Easy to follow. Adding fogs to my recently purchased blazer. Been years since I've done this kinda work so it was great to reacquaint myself with the steps. Excellent
Excellent Video! Kudos for keeping it simple.
thanks, very well explained. i was searching exactly for something like this.
Thank you, just what I was looking for.
I probably watched 10 videos about this and this is the one I understood great job man thanks
Thank you for posting this video,
It helped me a lot !
Very nice. I was looking for a nice explanation for a relay. Being a total novice at this wiring stuff I found this very helpful. Thank you.
If they don’t get it now there hopeless
Very very simple and well explained
Thank You 🙏
Thank you for the video, now I can work on the terminals wiring 6 switches for different LED and a killing switch on my Jeep 😃
Thank you for the clear and straight to the point explanation.
Great video. First relay video that actually showed a start to finish with all the information. Keep it up
Thank you so much for this video. So clear and easy to understand
Great explanation. Just got a Cherokee and the owner gave me two pod lights with the car and I’ve been wanting to wire them up, thank you sir !
Just what I needed to see. Making my life a lot easier. Thanks.
Got bless you brother I was losing sleep before I found this lol .. makes it all much simpler 🙏🏼
Glad to help!!
Brother this is the most exact and clear cut explanation ever no bullshit..
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
Great job explaining!...very helpful!
Nice straight to the point. Good video brother!
Well explained. Nice note paper to keep track of the numbers. Pointing out the fire wall port is also unique to your video. Well done. Thanks
Thanks for the feedback. Glad to know someone is enjoying our work
Thank you! Your explanation was spot on and easy to understand.
Excellent video. Right to the point. Very helpful
Excellent explanation and liked the shot of the dogs playing at the end🐶Well done and learned a lot.
Excellent educational video. I understood this 100%. Thanks man!
Best relay video on the net
Great walkthrough, thank you!
Excellent and simple explanation, a breath of fresh air.
Small suggestion, enclose the wiring in black plastic harness shroud and tie-wrap it to any existing body harness or grill support struts. Use relays with mounting tabs and secure them to the fenderwell or bulkhead.
One other suggestion. Every place you make a splice in the wires, use marine heat shrink and the reason I say this is marine heat shrink has a heat activated glue on the inside. When you apply heat to shrink it, the glue will get hot and stick to the wires making a better seal. Not saying that regular heat shrink doesn't do a good job, marine heat shrink does it better. Harbor Freight has a kit with different sizes at a lower price than an electrical shop.
Best description I have seen. Thank you
Seen so many video on how to wire. Damn u knocked it out the park. Thanks bro
Been a while since I futzed with a relay...I'm about to do this and this was SUPER helpful dude!
I am glad. Thanks!
Man!! Great video you have explained it so clear thanks.
Very helpful as I'm researching the University of RUclips on how to wire in some lights. Thanks.
Excellent description of how to properly wire auxiliary lights.
Excellent video exactly what I needed! Thank you
You nailed it with this video man. Thanks a lot.
thank you so much!!! i'm about to get my light situation taken care of immediately. Your knowledge really helped!
Thank you so much this was the exact video I needed ‼️
Great piece of work..I can follow through without problems.
Thank you! you saved me from melting my rocker switch, I did the connection directly without relay it was heating up really fast, just solved my problem, regards from Dominican Republic, thanks again.
Nice! Glad to help. You definitely don't want switches melting in your cab as you roll down the street. haha
Use thicker wire, too. A small wire will carry too much resistance over distance and heat up like that
The switch contacts aren't rated for the amps the lights use .so the power to the lights runs thru the relay and the switch opens and closes the relay .
Love how you did the video it was very easy to understand how you explained everything
Just an excellent video. Thank you for this.
Best explanation for dumbies (Me)
Never seen a better explanation than this one on anything.
Well Done 👍 👌 ✅
well explained. everything i needed to understand the relay. really appreciated.
I've been googling & watching so many videos for the last week. WHY DIDN'T I FIND THIS FIRST. I'm a total wiring newb (I'm actually terrified of electricty after too many shocks). You make it sound doable even for me. (But I'll let ya know how it goes haha!)
It really is a connect the dots kind of thing when you break it down. Color by numbers if you will. Good luck with it!
Best relay video yet!
Perfect explanation. You made it super easy to understand. Totally helped me get it. Thanks man!
Great! Glad to hear you found the video helpful
very good example especially ur paper workings was awesome
Thank you for including the detail of how to add the switch!
Great! Finally someone made a map on how actually a relay works!
Wow! The cigarette lighter for ACC power is genius! Thanks man! 🎉
Man did you help me out, just wired up some fogs on my ford , thanks man great video!
