Super happy for you guys! Glad to hear mom and son are happy and healthy! And that’s a pretty sweet dresser, too 😊
Thanks Brian!
Hi Johnny. I know that this build has to be extra special for you as you're making it for your son. I wasn't bitten by the woodworking bug when my kids were little but I'm now enjoying building for my grand-kids. I'm currently building a cradle for my grandson who'll be arriving the first of June.
That's awesome! It's definitely been really cool to be able to build a bunch of stuff for the nursery, definitely some of my most special builds.
CONGRATULATIONS Johhny and fam! Great creation on both parts! Love the nickname.
Thanks man!
Your designs just inspire a very impressive perspective on the modern aesthetics, congratulations for the baby, following you from Morocco.
Thanks so much!
from morocco too
Looks great, Johnny! I think my favorite parts are the little drawer pull areas you cut away. They look subtle but cool how there is a shadow in the drawer behind.
Thanks Bruce! I love the drawer pulls too.
Congratulations on the baby boy! There's nothing better than homemade furniture for the family. My dad made a beautiful pendulum cradle out of alder for my son. Thanks for the video!
Thanks a lot!
This is one my favorites you've done! Re: paint....Montana Gold. The difference between Rusto and Montana is night and day. One coat is pretty much all you need, and it's far more durable. It or any other acrylic graffiti can will work, just make sure to get a low pressure variety (unless you are covering a large area). I've tried Ironlak and MTN94 as well, and they are also really good.
Thanks Mike! And good tips, I’m going to buy some cans of different brands to play around with.
Came to say the same thing. Montana paint. It was originally created for graffiti artists, stuff lays down super smooth, color choices are insanely abundant. Find a art supply store near you, they should have a big selection.
Surprised to hear good results from Montana. I've never had a good experience using it in modelmaking because it does go on so thick. If I have to use it I leave it for a couple weeks because it doesn't cure well otherwise
Try any graffiti cans (molotow, flame, ironlak, etc.) The differentce is amazin.
Real sharp, Johnny! Love those brass pins! Congrats on your new shop buddy!
Thanks man!
I love the videos, keep them coming. Glad to hear Mom and Baby are doing well. Congratulations.
Thanks a lot Andrew!
Great work! I enjoyed every second of it! Thanks!
Awesome project! Love the brass pins, you're right, small and subtle but look nice, and there is something so satisfying about making a jig for a single use! Got my own baby on the way to some great inspiration here :)
Thanks man, and congrats!
Johhny 5?!!🤣🤣🤣. I bet only a handful got that Short Circuit reference. Great build.
:) We watched Short Circuit again this week, which I think we'll do every year on his birthday. Thanks!
Heh. I was thinking Last Chance U.
when we had our kids we set up the changing station on top of a chest of draws in stead of buying/making a dedicated nappy changing station furniture because after about a year or so the furniture becomes redundant. so i love this build because you will still use it for years to come. way to go johnny and i hope your enjoying farther hood :)
Thanks John!
Congrats on the new woodworker! Good thing you are well stocked in ear plugs!
Thanks Josh!
Congrats to you and your wife Johnny! Nice build little Johnny 5 will love it when he has kids
Thanks Wayne! Fingers crossed for Johnny 6, hah.
Those brass pins are such an awesome detail. I too make my life difficult by milling the lumber from scratch when I could have used plywood..... it’s worth it in the end though. Looks great!
Thanks Tamar! Guess making things more difficult on purpose is a sign we love what we do?
Beautiful heirloom piece, Johnny. Your son will want to take it to college with him! We had a very similar dresser as our changing table (albeit an Ikea version), and outfitting the top drawer with compartment organizers (also from Ikea) made holding all the baby ephemera much more manageable. Diapers, lotions, thermometers, etc. We even had a baby wipe warmer in the drawer, and fished the cord through the back of the cabinet (baby tushes like warm wipes!). We'd just pull out the drawer during diaper changes, and everything we needed was right at our finger-tips (handy, when your baby is trying to squirm his way off the table). Congratulations on your growing family. Being a dad is as good as it gets. Enjoy!
Thanks Steve! We definitely plan on organizing this a little better, that wipe warmer sounds cool!
Crafted Workshop just my own two cents on wipe warmers. (Mom of two) They make changing diapers one more step. And if you don't have any warm ones, suddenly regular wipes are the worst thing to happen to your baby ever! (Based on their cries). For your own sanity, and for quickness of taking care of a task that you will preform countless times, I suggest skipping the warmer.
All of that being said, enjoy your baby and you do you!
Also, thanks for sharing your art with us. It's beautiful
Thanks!
Awesome build! I really like how the handles of the drawers turned out.
Thanks man!
Awesome looking piece Johnny! 👍👊
Thanks Fred!
beautiful design and such a timeless piece of furniture, JB seems to enjoy the changing pad😊
Thanks mama!
Great build! Awesome video as well!!! Congrats on Johnny 5 !
Thanks man!
kids are a blessing. congratulations
Thanks!
That is a wonderful changing table/future dresser for Johnny 5! He alive! 😀👍
Thanks! 🤖🤖
Great design! Once the pad is off the dresser is ready to keep on going. You could even add a drawer to the shelf if needed.
Thanks Tom! And yes, that was the idea, the piece should be functional for years to come!
Johnny 5 has to be one of the best nicknames I've ever heard. He should thank you in his school years
Hah, it's a pretty good one!
Mazel Tov Johnny! Can't wait to see some father and son collaboration projects. All the best to Johny 5 and his blessed parents.
Thanks David! Going to be awhile till he can help in the shop but I can't wait!
Dude, this is gnarly. Definitely glad I saw this, great inspiration!
Thanks Taylor!
Beautiful project and Congratulations!
Thanks Frank!
Omg!! Yay!!! Congratulations to you guys!!!
Thanks Shelby!
Adorable baby 👶🏻 and stellar project, too!
Thanks!
Nice changing table Johnny! and congratulations on J5! Thanks for sharing.😎👍JP
Thanks a lot JP!
😎
Great build Johnny! I really like the white face of the dresser coupled with the stainless legs and wood!
Thanks!
Congratulations! Great project as well.
Thanks Sean!
Great piece!! And congrats. One suggestion that we've learned from experience on change tables with drawers... strap/attach it to the wall. Our toddler opened up a drawer of our change table trying to get into it and the whole dresser tipped on top of her. Luckily, mom was there to save the day.
Will definitely be attaching these things to the wall once he can move around more. Thanks!
Congrats to you and your Mrs!
Thanks Ian!
Absolutely amazing
Thanks!
Very nice project Johnny! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
Awesome build as always! Congrats on the new addition, but my favorite part of the video has to be the "Keller Theory" T-shirt!
Thanks! A fan made the shirt and I love it.
Great project, Johnny. Also, congratulations!
Thanks y’all!
Awesome video as usual man, and a HUGE congrats!!!
Thanks Joseph!
The White looks so good withe The Walnut!
Thanks, I agree!
Awesome build. It's pretty satisfying to watch these, i like.
Thanks!
Great project! Make sure you tether it to the wall!
Yea once he starts crawling around!
Very Beautiful! Excellent interior design furniture you made!
Thanks!
Great project. Love your vids man. Congrats on the offspring!
Thanks Aaron!
Very nice! When Johnny 5 grows up and has a little Johnny 6 you can give this as a gift.
For sure!
Yep, that one's a winner, well done.
Thanks Stewart!
Beautiful!
Thanks!
Nice build, congratulations on the new edition to the family!
Thanks a lot!
Thanks a lot!
i like the placement on the drawer handles. very unique
Thanks, they were inspired by Bludot, another furniture manufacturer.
Congrats 🎈🎊
Hey man - gave you a shout from my Instagram account. Love this style, and actually about to build the exact same for our first who’ll be here in Feb. Thanks for continuing to be out quality videos !
Nice man, have fun!
It came out super, and it was a lot of work.
I really like those beefy Powermatic tools, I wish we had them here in Europe. Cheers
Thanks Andrea! They are great tools, I believe you can get them over there. I know I've seen folks in the UK using Powermatic.
Love your work man! You never fail to impress!! Keep being awesome!
Thanks Samuel!
No problem and congrats on the kid!
Congrats and a cool build!
Thanks Travis!
Good work!!!
I don't like hairpin legs but the result is still awesome. I love the idea with the brass rod. Gives the whole project some neat details.
Busted out another project papa, congratulations to you and your wife. Welcome to the world of sleepless nights.
Thanks Riaan! We've been sleeping surprisingly well so far, we've gotten the swaddle down and he sleeps like a rock when he's all swaddled up.
Crafted Workshop I love been a paps, sounds like all is going super well mate.
Haha. Wait... It's early days still. Your turn is coming. :)
Hah!
do not listen anybody. congratulations!! kids r fulling the life with meaning)
nice job! get festool 1010 or 1400 and forget about the dust in the ear)) hail from Ukraine!
Not one to normally reply, but I used to work at Lowe’s in the paint dept. so I’ve tried them all. My favorite was the rustoleum professional series in the tall cans. It dries a lot quicker and I’ve gotten really nice results from them.
Thanks Dustin!
Life changing experience
Like the build
Very nice work!
Thanks!
Congrats my man!
Appreciate it Adam!
Great stuff as usual!
Thanks!
Nice tools! great work!
Thanks!
Congratulations and nice build.
Thanks!
Yes assemble for Johny 5! You built a beautiful piece which you will enjoy for many diapers to come.
Thanks Carl!
Beautiful work (as always) dude! :)
Thanks!
Congrats man. I had my first last September and I’m also the fourth and my boy is Thomas the fifth :). It’s the greatest and hardest thing you’ll ever do. Congrats again. Oh and nice dresser
That’s awesome! Thanks man.
You have to be an 80's kid to fully appreciate the Johnny5 bit. 😂😂😂 Nice build btw.
Thanks! Johnny 5 is alive!
Congrats!
Thanks!
It's satisfying to see the legs dig into the carpet. But it looks nice.
Very nice Jonny, with the drawers having a handle on one side on,y you can use undermount runners with a synchronisation kit but it’s a LOT more expensive
Yea that would definitely work!
Look for MTN 94 cans! Once you use one of their cans, there is no turning back! Much cheaper in Europe though, but still, it's worth every penny!
I'll check them out, thanks!
Montana spray paints. You can find them at Michael's and Hobby Lobby usually or most Arts and Crafts stores. The Plutonium line is supposed to be one of the best. Also, Jimmy Diresta recommends Montana brand as well. The project is awesome BTW!
Thanks! Unfortunately my Michael’s doesn’t carry Montana spray paint, just their markers.
That's so sweet man, looks great! And congrats on your boy... Nothing better than becoming a dad. 👌🏼 Ha mine is a year now and my woodworking time is almost all but lost😩😩 haha but I wouldn't change a thing
Hah, thanks Harrison!
Duplicolor is the gold standard for acrylic enamel or acrylic lacquer. They're automotive rattle cans and the primers come in a few varieties
Cool, thanks!
I dig it.
Thanks Hazem!
Nice project Papa John. Yey Johnny 5 😂❤️
Thanks!
For rattlecan paint, I haven't tried it, but I've heard good things about Plutonium spray paints
Thanks James!
Well done! Tell Johnny5 hello for me :-) we just had a little girl in March, I did a walnut crib which was WAY more intense than I expected
Thanks Billy! The crib build was super challenging for sure, congrats on building yours!
Johnny 5 is alive! Congratulations dude.
Thanks man!
Congratulation!
Thanks!
Love to eventually build for my daughter , she got married this year so waiting on them to decide when having children
Not sure if you prime, but you should still spray primer before using regular can.
Man. I wasn't expecting the feels this morning but GOSH that baby is adorable. Congratulations! (EDIT: Love the project, too, by the way)[SECOND EDIT: WHOA you use a Rotring?!]
Hah, thanks Joshua! Love that rOtring pencil, it’s the best!
I’ve been binging your channel for the last two days haha. You rock dude! I’m sure you’ve gotten some different cans by now, but I love Montana 94. Montana Gold is a little bit thicker, but the 94 is butter and just make sure to get some different tips
Thanks man, great tip!
Love this video, I know you've canned a bunch of em already, but between this and the crib, I've got my work cut out for me!
Hah, thanks man! I think I’m done with nursery stuff for awhile, the clock and triangle shelves were for the nursery as well. It’s pretty full of cool stuff!
Gotta ask, what's it like being a dad now? Getting any sleep right now?
I am definitely sleeping. Learn to swaddle, they’ll sleep like a rock! Moms On Call is an awesome resource.
Thanks so much! You give me hope for my future!
Montana Gold for rattlecan. It's just the best.
Thanks!
Johnny Brook! I’ve seen Jon Peters uses a spray paint called Plutonium and raves about it. Haven’t used it myself but it might be worth checking out. 🤙🏼
Yea, I've seen Jon use that too, I'll have to give it a shot!
Man..... You know I sound a bit redundant when I pop on here and continuously say how cool ALL your stuff is!!! I really mean it bud. From the bed you made, to the baby gate, to this!!! I really enjoy your builds bud. Dirty Jersey out!!!
Thanks so much man, means a lot!
@@craftedworkshop Fo Sho bud!!! I mean you, Chris, & Mike just kill me with your stuff!!! Mad Skillz & much Respect!!! Excited to see what you come up with in that shop!!!
Try plutonium spray paint. It’s expensive but it’s very good. I use it for higher end products.
I’ll give it a shot!
Hey man love the videos, and Johnny Five too. Congrats. I have 2 boys myself and I'm sure you know already... that you're about too get a whole lot busier. Anyway I was just looking through the description and didn't see the tool you use to measure the height of the table saw blade or dado stack, listed. Just curious as to what it's called and where you found it. Thanks in advance and congratulations again!!!
Thanks man, really appreciate that! And yea, they’re the Rockler setup bars : amzn.to/2rE6A3J
If you are doing rebate joints for the carcass like you did, you can cut the rebates for the back panel before you glue it up and you don't have to do the messy router work.
Yea it would have been a little tricky since it would have been a stopped rabbet on the table saw. I didn’t have the back panel run the full area of the back of the piece. Otherwise, that would have been a great option.
You don't need stopped rebates. You make the dado's for the shelf on the case sides the same depth as the rebates for the back panels :)
Hallo. ı really lıke to watch your videos. They are very skill improver. Can you pls tell me what they call the things when you are using on painting process under the woods, little triangle plastic pieces? and how can ı find them on internet. thank you very much Jony. Keep continue with this awesome videos.
Good job. For your white paint you use just Montana that's all or use another technic for you render very smooth (glossy) ?
Thanks for your help. And the paint works good on plywood ?
I used regular spray paint from the home center! Thanks! Paint works well on plywood for sure.
Lindo!
One day down the road you get to show your kid how you build this beautiful dresser as well as explaining those ear stud. Good luck with that.
Your pliers are short is prolly why it was challenging to cut the brass rod. I cut 8 and 6 awg wire with lineman pliers. I have an 8" klein lineman and a 9" channel lock lineman pliers. Both work well but the extra inch make a lot of difference.
Makes sense, leverage is definitely your friend in this case!
Congrats on the birth of your son Mr. Spagnu... Oh wait... oops, my bad. Wrong channel.
With all the new gold machinery I swore I was watching the Wood Whisperer. LOL
Seriously though, welcome to the world Johnny 5!!
Keep up the great work.
Hah, thanks Robert! Marc is one of my woodworking idols for sure, so I take that as a compliment 😊
