Wow! What a project! Came out looking seriously nice, I really like the contrast between the big open spaces of the bookcase and the solid credenza doors :)
Really nice build Johnny! I'm just now editing the video for my channel of a walnut wall mounted bar, and we wen't through SO MANY of the same steps! I know how much work that piece was, congrats
Been getting by with a smallish construction lumber bench and some temporarily benches while i figure out what i really need. Soon though, I'm going to make a proper assembly and powertool bench...and yours is the first one that comes to mind. Great projects, both of em!
Siiick! I see a lot of the tips and processes that I've picked up from you, in this build. The chamfer on the back panel (a-la your drawer bottoms). The inset doors like you did in the valchromat bar cabinet! You've compounded these skills and developed a flow, man! Great video and the finished piece is phenomenal!
Great build Johnny! You had me at walnut! Hardwood edge banding was definitely the way to go - I’ve learned that lesson the hard way. And thanks for reppin’ my swag 👊🏻
That bluejay did NOT want you to record the video. ha ha. I really like the look of this, Johnny! Nice job with all of the edge banding, and adding a little extra thick edge banding when you cut some of the shelving too short was a great idea!
Love your videos. You get right to the point and show the highlights of all the steps. To me that tells me what I want to hear and see. Besides I like the projects you make. Thanks for sharing.
A few quick points; 1.) great looking piece. You always do good work 2.) you are very fortunate to have such a well equipped shop. Yes, I am jealous 3.) you said “super” 12 times in a 13 minute video
I like everything about it except the door pulls. Personal preference, but everything else has the pretty edge banding and those, front and center, have the exposed plywood edge. Suggestion: slightly bigger hole, fill with a solid wood plug matching the edge banding, then drill another 1/2 inch diameter smaller hole in that = edge banded pull hole. Or just fill any gaps in the plywood edge and paint it a solid color, could even be something crazy like bright turquoise if you wanted to play up the mid century modern vibe.
Thanks Guy, it definitely took up a ton of space! The finishing process took over the entire garage, having everything spread out like that. And of course it decided to rain that day, so I couldn't finish outside.
Im currently building something very similiar to this, so your video is a good motivator to get it finished. Great work, man. That piece turned out really clean. I know it must have been a lot of work!
That piece really shows off the sweet setup in your shop! I'd like one of each please! Project came together nicely. I know how some of them take a while, I started one last summer that I'm hoping to finish once it gets a little warmer here in the mountains of Pennsylvania!
The way you condensed this build in to a video makes it look so easy, but man, I can tell you put some effort into this thing. Not to mention the space it must've taken up in your shop. It turned out really well.
Great video! I LOLed a bit at the "Which allowed me to drill perfectly square holes" comment tho ;) Thanks to Seth and Alex for guiding me to this channel as I somehow previously missed this channel even tho I follow tons of woodworkers :P
That's a REALLY nice looking piece johnny! Wish the h.d. near me had walnut plywood. "/ I'd be using that for ALOT of project. Only oak birch and poplar"/
Another awesome build Jonny! I'm getting overwhelmed just thinking about trying to manage that. I just one one little critique, I think the hole door pulls would have looked better with a dark stain on the inside. It just draws a little too much attention to itself being the light plywood. Keep up the good work man!
Nice work, those handle holes really catch the eye due to the colour difference. Can't help but picture it with some nice dark-ish handles or even just dark holes.
Hey Johnny Awesome work the edge banding really paid off, kinda framed out the whole piece but not in a way of sticking out it really makes it look like it’s all solid hardwood. I also wanted to say great job in pointing out how long some jobs take and if I had to apply finish by hand I’d still be applying finish lmao. But I’m not sure, did you use any safety brackets from wall to the credenza. Only reason why I even said something is with the little one coming it will be awhile but I know our child would love to climb. No disrespect meant. Till next video take care buddy.
This turned out fantastic. I have a question about the curved piece. You clamped the edge banding to the template, I believe. Did you let that piece totally dry before gluing it on? Are you able to glue something that's wet? Or does it adhere better when dry? Just curious. Great work! Thank you.
Great piece, I like the overall style and your idea on how to attach the pieces. I have a question, how difficult do you think it would be to "edge-band" the pulls with a circular walnut piece?. I was thinking of cutting a walnut disk to the hole dimension and, before attach it, drill a inner hole in that disk. Once glued a chamfer could be added.
This is a nice build mate but generational tastes have changed & I quite often see these ready for rubbish pickup however customised Build like yours is king, was this made to order ?
Obviously Home Depot doesn't seem to sell it, but does PureBond make 1/8 or 3/8 birch plywood? Seems I can never find those sizes without a giant price or buying an entire bundle.
Great build and love the walnut plywood. I know you've used PureBond a lot in the past, have you had any issues with 3/4" sheets warping after cutting them down to size? I bought a couple of sheets for the first time at my local Home Depot and both warped the day after I cut them down. I love their use of non-formaldehyde glue, so I'm hoping I was just unlucky with the first two sheets of their product I've bought. #bringbackthesquat
Great work, Johnny. Design is simple a perfect. Question about sanding. What grit did you start with when sanding the edge banding flush? I’ve always thought veneered plywood came finished around 150.
When you're working with veneered plywood like this, what grits are you going through when sending? How thick is the veneer? How careful do you have to be about not going too far into/through the veneer?
Another nice build! Fantastic! What's the door style called - slab? I like how it actually "sink" into the frame and create a unified flat surface. Looks better than shaker style. Will it look good in cabinets, hum... BTW, is there any other way to purchase the plywood? HD charges $55 for shipping which double the cost per panel. it is a deal breaker :(
Thanks a lot! Not sure what the door style is called, I believe it’s just an inset door. I definitely like it though, nice and clean. As far as HD, that’s a bummer! I’ve found the Walnut Purebond at my local lumber dealer as well, but that’ll depend on your location.
Crafted Workshop Personally (and I never thought I'd say this) it's too much walnut for me. Maybe it's different in person but it feels like a big sea of dark!
Where do you pick up "good" pure bond plywood? The only place near me that seems to sell it is Home Depot, and they way they store it ensures it is going to be severely warped by the time I get it home.
I get mine at Home Depot for the most part, but I get the full sheets of Walnut Purebond at my local lumber dealer. I've never had an issue with the Purebond at HD, but you're not the first person I've heard who's had an issue. Guess I've got good HDs in my area!
Are you able to get purebond plywood in 4x8 sheets? My local home Depot only sells Walnut in 2x4 sheets. Is it possible to buy it someplace else? Super nice build by the way!

Great project Johnny! I know how it goes when a project just drags on...and on...and on
Thanks man, and yes, those are some of my least enjoyable projects. I tend to really put them off and it makes things way worse.
Excellent Video. I really liked the mix of woodworking and metal working. Keep up the good work.
Thanks guys!
Super awesome project. I wish more youtube makers would make elaborate builds like this.
Thanks man! These bigger builds can be tricky to work into the schedule, but it's worth it to have this kind of piece in my portfolio.
#toobigtosquat
Wow! What a project! Came out looking seriously nice, I really like the contrast between the big open spaces of the bookcase and the solid credenza doors :)
Thanks man, I really like the way this one turned out too!
Really nice build Johnny! I'm just now editing the video for my channel of a walnut wall mounted bar, and we wen't through SO MANY of the same steps! I know how much work that piece was, congrats

Loads of great tips in this video :) The bookcase is magnificent :) Thank you for sharing the process ॐ

Great build Johnny! You had me at walnut! Hardwood edge banding was definitely the way to go - I’ve learned that lesson the hard way. And thanks for reppin’ my swag 👊🏻
Thanks Keith! I'm definitely a big fan of hardwood edge banding vs. the iron on stuff, much easier to work with.
Excellent job and great craftsmanship. I have quite a soft spot for walnut and this is just wonderful.
Ha! Love the end. And the build! The edge banding def paid off.
Great build. Thw video production was top notch too.
Appreciate it man, always trying to step it up! This was my first upload in 4K.
Sensational project - enjoying seeing some of these larger projects that are solid furniture pieces. Great job.
Thanks a lot!
That bluejay did NOT want you to record the video. ha ha. I really like the look of this, Johnny! Nice job with all of the edge banding, and adding a little extra thick edge banding when you cut some of the shelving too short was a great idea!
Great job Johnny. Like how the shop has progressed as you progressed with this job.
Absolutely beautiful. Good work!
Love your videos. You get right to the point and show the highlights of all the steps. To me that tells me what I want to hear and see. Besides I like the projects you make. Thanks for sharing.
This looks like late 1960s G Plan. You did a beautiful job, well done, sir!
Thanks a lot, Toria!
Great build and a very beautiful final piece. Thank you for sharing.
My favorite piece of yours thus far! Great build.
A few quick points;
1.) great looking piece. You always do good work
2.) you are very fortunate to have such a well equipped shop. Yes, I am jealous
3.) you said “super” 12 times in a 13 minute video
Looks great! That's quite the undertaking, even in two piece I'm sure it's crazy heavy.
Amazing work! Love the final look - the simplicity of the holes on the doors for pulls worked with the look of the piece. 👍👍
"God Dang it Bird!!" 😁😂 A lot of good tips and the piece looks great.
This credenza is nuts...walnNUTS! :)
Wowzers!!! mate, that is beautiful. You really stepped out on this one.
Thanks a lot, Riaan!
Great build Johnny! That's a huge piece and it can out awesome! CNC's are super handy for templates. Those curves can be tricky
I like everything about it except the door pulls. Personal preference, but everything else has the pretty edge banding and those, front and center, have the exposed plywood edge. Gorgeous piece. Video quality is awesome as well.
Big piece! It's always a challenge to have something that big in the shop while constructing it. Great job!
Thanks Guy, it definitely took up a ton of space! The finishing process took over the entire garage, having everything spread out like that. And of course it decided to rain that day, so I couldn't finish outside.
This thing is a beast man! And your cabinet looks cool too! Joking haha. Super clean build man!!!
Hah, thanks man! 😂
Regardless of how big the project is , i am sure that you can handle it .... awesome piece .
Im currently building something very similiar to this, so your video is a good motivator to get it finished. Great work, man. That piece turned out really clean. I know it must have been a lot of work!

Yea, definitely a lot of editing and work left out of the video due to repetition. This was a big one! Thanks.
Great build Johnny. I really like how you edit these videos down. Looking forward to future projects.
Thanks Jessica!
Wow, that's a gorgeous product! Well done!
Thanks Rob!
Nice, man! You know you aren't messing around when you build a piece that is taller than you.
Thanks man! And yes, I think this was a first for me, a piece taller than I am.
Man, that thing looks awesome! Great work.
Awesome work Johnny! 👍👊
Looks gorgeous!
Fantastic! Looks like it took a ton of work
Great video!
I LOLed a bit at the "Which allowed me to drill perfectly square holes" comment tho ;)
Thanks to Seth and Alex for guiding me to this channel as I somehow previously missed this channel even tho I follow tons of woodworkers :P
Hah, thanks man! Welcome to the channel.
Excellent job mate and it looks great
Looks great, man! Great job!
That's a REALLY nice looking piece johnny! Wish the h.d. near me had walnut plywood. "/ I'd be using that for ALOT of project. Only oak birch and poplar"/
Cool project Johnny! Thanks for sharing it with us.😎👍JP
Great job as always! I love your video production and love your workshop, I'm jealous lol.
That thing is a beast!! Came out great dude.
Thanks man! Great to finally meet you in person.
Another awesome build Jonny! I'm getting overwhelmed just thinking about trying to manage that. They are definitely a statement but I dig them. Thanks!
Great video! 2:11 sketched me out a little bit, but obviously you know what you're doing :)
30 people disliked this? Must have been related to the bird. Amazing build. That wood is gorgeous! Subscribed.
Hah, that damn bird! Thanks man.
What a beast.
Hah, yes it is.

Superb quality build! Cheers
Thanks Andrea!
Damn nice looking project! Good job man.
ótimo trabalho,perfeitos,fabio, Brazil
Nice work mate, took me back to the 70s ;)
Awesome build and video! I would be curious to see your camera dolly you used for some of the panning shots. Keep up the nice work!
Nice work as always! 👍🏻
This turned out so awesome
Thanks!
You're crazy! Amazing job.
Nice design and build.
Thanks Chester!
This turned out fantastic. I have a question about the curved piece. You clamped the edge banding to the template, I believe. Did you let that piece totally dry before gluing it on? Are you able to glue something that's wet? Or does it adhere better when dry? Just curious. Great work! Thank you.
My stepdad is a supervisor at the Columbia plant in Marion where they make the Purebond
Looks incredible!
Thanks!
Turned out awesome Johnny. Do you CAD your builds before you make them?
Thanks! Yea I create SketchUp models of everything before building them. Really helps me plan things out.
Hey, really beautiful!
Thanks Jolien!
Very nice build! I see saw dust in my future!
This is a nice build mate but generational tastes have changed & I quite often see these ready for rubbish pickup however customised Build like yours is king, was this made to order ?
I would disagree, this MCM style is incredibly hot at the moment. This was a custom build for a client.
Dude! That's nice
Thanks Eric!
Great build JB, enjoyed watching. What was that cool paint can mixer you used around 11:20
Nice big piece! Good job! I like the way you work...to attach the credenza to the bookcase you could have used dominos without gluing them...
Nice job!!
Obviously Home Depot doesn't seem to sell it, but does PureBond make 1/8 or 3/8 birch plywood? Seems I can never find those sizes without a giant price or buying an entire bundle.
Love the build! Do you have your vacuum up high or do you have the boom arm attachment?
Looks great! You threw me for a loop without doing a squat though... 😉 Gotta keep us guessing! 👍
I haven't had that issue with thicker stuff warping on me. I'd return it and get another sheet!
Awesome!
Thanks Travis!
A lot of work but well wort it. Great job Buddy
Great work, Johnny. Design is simple a perfect.
Question about sanding. What grit did you start with when sanding the edge banding flush? I’ve always thought veneered plywood came finished around 150.
Thanks man! I started at 120 grit for the edges, but I was super careful as it's extremely easy to sand through.
Wow, I didn't even know they made a purebond walnut plywood. My local HD doesn't appear to sell it.
Holy Moly. Extremly nice :)
Thanks a lot!
Silly blue jay. Nice build JB.
Hah, that damn thing. Thanks Brian!
When you're working with veneered plywood like this, what grits are you going through when sending? How thick is the veneer? How careful do you have to be about not going too far into/through the veneer?
plewelly 180 or 220
I listen to audiobooks while in my shop; what kind of books do you listen to?
That bird was all about it
3D print a Pocket hole jig that would be soo cool
Another nice build! Fantastic!
What's the door style called - slab? I like how it actually "sink" into the frame and create a unified flat surface. Looks better than shaker style. Will it look good in cabinets, hum...

Thanks a lot! Not sure what the door style is called, I believe it’s just an inset door. I definitely like it though, nice and clean. As far as HD, that’s a bummer! I’ve found the Walnut Purebond at my local lumber dealer as well, but that’ll depend on your location.
Great job on a massive project! My least favorite thing was the door pulls/holes. Looks like an afterthought, but that's just my opinion man. ;)
Hate it. But i love the process and how you build things, never miss a video!
What don't you like about it? Glad you like the videos, thanks.
Crafted Workshop Personally (and I never thought I'd say this) it's too much walnut for me. Maybe it's different in person but it feels like a big sea of dark!

Where do you get your 4x8 walnut sheets? Homedepot only sells 2x8 sheet of the purebond walnut ply.
Hey Jonny, what's the countersink bit I always see you using? Great video like usual by the way.
It is probably this one: www.amazon.com/Amana-Tool-Countersink-Adjustable-No-Thrust/dp/B00BJFK6N6
Are you able to get purebond plywood in 4x8 sheets? My local home Depot only sells Walnut in 2x4 sheets. Is it possible to buy it someplace else? Super nice build by the way!
It is a special order item, but I got mine in 4x8 sheets.
What grade plywood are you using? The purebond at my local Home Depot is C3 and really not suitable for this type of furniture.
