  • Cenotes in Tulum Mexico are world class destinations for Scuba Diving and cave diving , we will experience the Halocline while diving in Taj Ma Ha Cenote in the heart of Mexico just north of Tulum. Cenotes have long been known as the gateway to the Mayan underworld and are a big part of Mexican Culture.

Only 10k views is way too low for this beautiful video. Fantastic videography

Wow, great video, and what a beautiful cave! A quick note on the presence of sulfuric acid (H2SO4) in the halocline you observed. The dangerous chemical that may be present in the halocline is actually hydrogen sulfide (H2S) which is indeed toxic and your recommendation for caution is well founded. Sulfuric acid is what’s called a strong acid which means that not only is it corrosive to many organic materials, tissue, and metals, but in water, it will completely disassociate being reduced to hydronium (H3O)+ and sulfate (SO42-) ions. That’s why we can dump gallons of it in a swimming pool to adjust pH without fear of disintegrating like a murder victim when we later jump in. Hydrogen sulfide, on the other hand, is found readily in haloclines. While it is generally observed in gas form, it is soluble in water and can become trapped in a halocline because it is denser than freshwater but less dense than saltwater. Again, awesome video, please keep posting!

Wow. That was beautiful. Bones that deep? So, the sea level has been rising since, huh? I'm from Hawaii. Can you imagine just the peaks of our mountains protruding out of the ocean. Wouldn't that dive be awesome seeing the lost cities of the Hawaiian islands?😐
