Banzai Bankai I spent like 5 minutes trying to get a accurate 0-60 on this video and I came up with a .45 second 0-60 not 1 second. But it was hard to react fast enough to pause it in time lol it is crazy how fast it is.
I wish more people could datalogged like this guy, the guages are so dope to see in a video. My favorite part was watching the G-meter and EGT's rise on full throttle!
Having the telemetry on there really helps put this in perspective seeing that needle blow past 200mph in almost 4 seconds. I can't even imagine top fuel.
Fast car! Technology has came such a long ways there taking 3.0 litres and running 5"60"s 260mph in a 1/4 who would have thought we would see such fast and cool stuff! Keep up the good work
I don't often read RUclips comments, but they are always nice for a good laugh!! RUclips crowd, living life at home with the parents, playing COD, and being self proclaimed experts on youtube vids!! LMFAO
Weather or not this thing is streetable or not, which it is with some prep, Still pretty amazing that it can even mechanically think about keeping up with a dedicated pro mod car that in NO WAY can be used on the street. Slightly detuned pro mod or not. VERY impressive.
+MrShark4488 yea and that was with a pro mod that don't drive 2000 miles across the country pulling a trailer. Don't get me wrong I like chief but he has a long ways to go to being in the same level as this guy.
Tammy Forbes true they are totally different......cant wait for drag week to start this year they are starting and finishing at national trail raceway again like a few years back and the track is only 6 minutes from my house and will probably see a few of them drive to the gas station down the street to get some E-85...i am going on monday
I love the Gauges & 50lbs Booste, Wow..He drives this thing around,,Seems driveable w/a 1100-1200 idel..Probably biggest problem I'm have w/a Radical Blown Car, Thing Idels 1900-2100rpm which would make driving it anywhere Nitemare..Larry drives this thing 1000miles! He's really hot this down, 5sec & drives on street, Who'd would of ever thought?
Please hold the world record for the 0-400-0 record. In this video is the time around 20 seconds. The official record is 31 sec. by koenigsegg and the second place by bugatti chiron by 40 seconds. I thing you can beat this !!!
I know It's amazing what they're doing with today's engines. Sonny Racing has a 1005 cubic inch NA engine that makes 2150HP at 8000 RPM! That's a lot of crap slinging around. Larry's only got 640 (yeah only) but shoving 50psi of boost blows the mind that it can stay together.
Big block doesn't necessarily mean that it has a long stroke, they don't have any higher piston speeds and anything else. That's the point of big aftermarket blocks with things like up to 5.5 inch bore spacing, they're still really big boars and have short strokes.
I don't know about costing WAY less... Larry had to build his own bespoke twin-turbo motor and essentially re-do most of the car's powertrain and exterior too so it could handle that power. It probably adds up, and you don't even get a leather interior!
Bugatti is a highly sophisticated ROAD CAR and is made to run on highways like Europe's Auto Bahn at high speeds around corners for hours on end and present a little comfort while doing that. Larry's S-10 is designed to be able to meet Drag Week requirements of being able to be street driven about 1,200 miles each year between designated drag strips and it's only other purpose is to go as fast as it can in a 1/4 mile drag race and it's damn good at doing just that. Two totally different purposes for the cars.
That's cuz he red lit Larry's R/T was .076 which comes out to be .076 past .400 light so in all actuality he pulled a .476 light which is almost 8hundredths after it turned green and his truck moved so that's a pretty good light
I'm sure top fuel dragster is also road legal in most of the south africa and heck yea i would drive one on the road.... In my coutry, road legal car has to have original chassis with chassis numbers etc., only small amount of original parts can be changed to something tuning aftermarket stuff... Example normal rally cars are not road legal and they have to drive with special temporary plates during rally since too much original parts have been changed.
It would had won Drag Week if not for late arrival at Thunder Valley that only allowed one attempted pass. But due to the messed up pass it had to take a 20 second (default) time...and since lanes were closed could not do a 2nd pass.
First, for all the trolls, go away. For the rest of you I like how we have all this big talk, yet we see nothing from any of these goons but talk, Larry doesn't need to talk his 5.95 @ 244mph in a truck that has to drive from track to track without the help of a trailer. This truck has to drive from track to track to be called the fastest street car in the world which means it has to run a radiator with all the essentials so it wont over heat. I think Larry had to drive to 4 different tracks with a combined distance of 1000 miles. If you look you can find the videos of Larry doing the fastest street car run from track to track. I think for all the idiots that talk and talk either put up or shut up because we have seen nothing from any of you and we all know why......because you aint got shit of your own that would come close to anything Larry has or most likely your lil civic makes a lot of noise but even stripped out with all seating removed and just a fiberglass seat, door panels, carpet, head liner, stereo system all removed, dash gutted, trunk cleared out with spare and jack chucked, window wipers system removed has a hard time getting into the 13's and would not pass for a street car!!
+Adam Ye it's called Launch Control. It is so that way when you floor it with the Brake engaged it will only rev to how ever many RPM's you set the ECU to rev to so that way the tires do not spin out. Every time tires spin out that is a Second lost in a Race.
+evstar20 he was racing a blown Pro Mod. Those cars SHOULD run mid 5s. But they are full race cars, engines can only run for 30 seconds at a time - no charging or cooling systems on the car. The truck can be driven home after the race on public highways.
Most likely. Burn outs are done in your high gear.. I never watched my speedo in the burn out box but I bump my glide into drive almost immediatly during the burnout and hammer it on the roll out. So yes that 200mph is probably correct on a 3000hp car in high gear at 4k rpm.
dustin cotton yep you are correct , just cause the car isnt moving does not mean the wheel speed is not ,high gear is high gear 1;1 ,,so if your in HIGH in the burnout box at 7500rpm and it says 160 mph ,your wheel speed is 160 even tho your shits sitin on the brakes lol
Even though this S10 has a street version side, I personally think that is not anywhere near as fun to drive as his 66 Nova. Gone are the 30 minute changeovers from street to strip and then back, now there is a trailer in tow, and no more picking the wife up at the hotel after the races, since a crew member now has to sit in as co-pilot monitoring the truck's parameters on a lap top.
Forgotten Mustard Displacement is irrelevant when forced induction and RPMs come into play, A smaller engine revving higher will generate similar power to a bigger one revving slower. Remember that quote "An engine is an airpump"
C Drought That is what I said!!! I was staring at that boost guage!!!That digital overlay is awesome!! Wish I had that same software for doing the videos...
Basic's of et is weight and horsepower, more power + lighter weight = lower et. So given they were in vegas at 2500ish feet of elevation you remove about 10% hp due to less air. the car weighs approx 2800-3000 lbs which is roughly 600lbs more then the guy in the other lane. So to break down any basic dragstrip, the first 60 feel he had enough traction and control to go 1.025 seconds at like 70 mph roughly. The 330ft is 1/4 of a 1/4 mile so it's a interval time and he did it in 2.75 seconds at roughly 120-130mph, yeah he gained 50-60mph in about a second and a half. the next number is the 1/8th mile which is half a 1/4 mile. it took him 3.95 seconds to go 194mph, the next number is 1000 feet approx 300meters they use in europe and the length a top fuel car can run in competition, they go around 330mph by this point. speed probably 220-230mph, the last number is the 1/4 mile 1320 feet of the king of england. and was going 245mph and accelerating to catch the other car. so take 3500ish horsepower *like 2200 ft/lbs of torque* and send it to the tires which are probably 33 or 36 inch tall bias ply drag slicks that are 15-17 inches wide. apply power liberally and violently in a controlled manner and you go zoom zoom. The way for him to go faster is 1 add more power 2 is to remove weight, at this point I want to point out this is a street driven vehicle with a steel body. So fiberglass&carbon fiber are going to be needed. He already has according to earlier posts a 620 cubic inch engine so going larger can be done but will run into diminishing returns and probably lose the water jackets in the block and heads and stop making it street driveable. So more boost.. bigger turbos and from what I remember back 8 years ago turbos are not as big as they are these days and he tried blowers and other things. But the basics is weight + hp = et.. and on the flip side hp + drag coefficient = mph more power the faster you can go, theoretically.
Power Stroker You win! I placed a pointless comment on you tube and you are smart enough to recognize it. I am impressed, most people end up arguing meaningless emotionally charged points on you tube. You sussed it out didn't you?
Kevin Sherf seriously in what way does a veyron relate to this video at all? four wheels? an engine? times are way different, once production WHat the hell is your point in saying this?
Power Stroker I love a streetable American sub 6 second car and was hoping my comment would raise the hackles of my fellow American iron fans. To engender some salient commentary on the exquisite engineering displayed by independent, passionate, fellow Americans. I consider it to be a high concept post utilizing the voice of low-brow buffoonery. It's trolling,my comment made no sense and was intended to pay homage to the classic form of troll commenting, whilst catalyzing thoughtful interrogation of the engineering that is embodied in this car.
And the 405 nut huggers actually think the 405 cars can run with him, this is on a street and highway driven vehicle. Let larry run in this original set up.
If this car is truly street legal bring it to England santapod raceway and run it in street eliminator. A class for drag cars that are road legal. They are restricted to a type of fuel and tyres. No wheelie bars no slicks must have mirrors and window whippers. Also part of qualifying is to take the cars on the street and drive around. You then fill the cars with fuel from gas station. Then drive to a car park and you have to do a hot start. If the car don't start your disqualified also if you don't get back between 5 minutes from the person in front of you your also disqualified. So if this car truly is street legal bring it here and put it to the test
k1hks You should read about Drag Week. It's a test of "street car" capabilities that lasts an entire week, encompasses 1200-1400 miles of highway miles in limited timeframe, multiple classes similar to what you desribe. I hate to break it to you, but your test is really really easy. Truck runs 6.59 in the trim you describe. Again, go google "Drag Week" and understand that this car went through about 10x the street punishment of your event.
i want to know why only 2 gears can get this shit to 245mph. is it that torque multiplication term ive heard about? any article or video explaining drag trans would fuckin great 👌
the overlay made this video 2x as good
Over 10 liters of displacement, almost 9000 rpm and 50 psi of boost... holly macaroni!!
big power needs big numbers
Ok, so I gotta turn the SR20 up to 50 psi.

He went faster doing a burnout than I have on my Superbike, lol. That digital overlay was awesome. For all that power, it idles so smoothly.

Very nice....

Incredible run, incredible video with data feed. TY
I like how it casually keeps a 200mph burnout on those fat slicks with 1/3 throttle and no boost at all :)
Same thoughts here before I read your comment?
WOW!!! Awesome job larry! I watched him run a 6.16 at dragweek happy to see he made the 5's

I love showing people this video. You don’t even have to be a gear head to understand what’s going on. Gotta love that telemetry.

wahahn you really must not know , that turbos are back half he would probably run 6.60 or 6.70
That was on 275 radials so he turned the car down. And it was unprepped. Hell dave's even faster by 2 cars on 2 kits

I don't know about costing WAY less... Larry had to build his own bespoke twin-turbo motor and essentially re-do most of the car's powertrain and exterior too so it could handle that power. It probably adds up, and you don't even get a leather interior!
Well a Bugatti Costs well over a million dollars and I would gather that Larry has $200-250,000 in the Truck so, 1/4 I'd consider way less.
Bugatti is a highly sophisticated ROAD CAR and is made to run on highways like Europe's Auto Bahn at high speeds around corners for hours on end and present a little comfort while doing that. +Adam Ye I believe its computer controlled. as is boost
+Adam Ye Controlled by the ecu so is the boost.
+Adam Ye 2 step its controlled by computer its technically a second red line but doesnt hurt the engine.
Draz Aqua thanks alot!
+Adam Ye it's called Launch Control. It is so that way when you floor it with the Brake engaged it will only rev to how ever many RPM's you set the ECU to rev to so that way the tires do not spin out. Every time tires spin out that is a Second lost in a Race.
so a 5.95 and lost? That guy was in front of him was he not? How do you run a 5.95 and lose a race?
+evstar20 he was racing a blown Pro Mod. Those cars SHOULD run mid 5s. But they are full race cars, engines can only run for 30 seconds at a time - no charging or cooling systems on the car. The truck can be driven home after the race on public highways.
Thanks for clarifying that.

yes you are correct sir.

How does the car show 200 mph on a burnout and 244 with 50 pads o boost wide open

who is besides him(Larry Larson)?
So whats the vehicle next to larrys

Wheel spin does things to GPS and accelerometers. Lol

Ray Nunnally the MPH is based off rear wheel speed here, it's not GPS or accellerometer. That number is real.
I wonder what a T/F produces for wheel spin on burnout....Hmmmmm. Interesting.

What did the guy run who beat him?
A promod. Different class
A gtr runs 50+ psi and runs 7s, a v8 runs 50 and runs 5s, that's torque for ya.
Larry should build a firehawk with a similar powerplant and annihilate some ass in the highways
This has 620 cubic inches, while a GTR has aprox. 250 lol

seriously in what way does a veyron relate to this video at all? four wheels? an engine? times are way different, once production WHat the hell is your point in saying this?
Power Stroker I love a streetable American sub 6 second car and was hoping my comment would raise the hackles of my fellow American iron fans. To engender some salient commentary on the exquisite engineering displayed by independent, passionate, fellow Americans. I consider it to be a high concept post utilizing the voice of low-brow buffoonery. It's trolling,my comment made no sense and was intended to pay homage to the classic form of troll commenting, whilst catalyzing thoughtful interrogation of the engineering that is embodied in this car.
That other car was rolling to
And the 405 nut huggers actually think the 405 cars can run with him, this is on a street and highway driven vehicle. Let larry run in this original set up.
*THE ENF OF* "the bench racer's shit talking about how the street outlaw cars are slow"
TPS need calibration :)
Again, go google "Drag Week" and understand that this car went through about 10x the street punishment of your event.
k1hks Another butthurt European.
Dumbass, this car is PROVEN STREETABLE and is STREET LEGAL!
