- Before FC25 released, there were articles with massive lists of changes that were meant to be in career mode. These articles promised a bunch of changes this year, players should grow & age, theres a ton of new nations to scout & hopefully the AI isn't quite as brain dead when it comes to building squads.
Well, today I’m going to find out if any of this is true. Let’s start by looking at the player aging, because while it sounds small, I think it could actually be quite a big deal.

The squad balancing issue has been a major flaw for years. It kills the game for any save longer than 3-4 seasons.
I remember on fifa 17 I think, Man Utd bought 5 goalkeepers over 80 rated in one transfer window, and Arsenal only had one. So, not being able to resist, I bought their only goalkeeper and they got relegated 😂😂

@@Diogo85 Budget system and earning money being super easy no matter what league, transfer policies and unrealistic transfers, players stopping growing at 16, players not changing at all, banners being painfully generic when most clubs have iconic and diverse banners or flags, not being able to track stats (the biggest issue imo) and the genetic name pools for names.

players also grew in previous fifa's from 15 to 16 and ea are re-adding old features saying theyre new yet again...

The teams ‘build’ their squads based around the default scouting instructions that they have when you start a career. It’s been the same for years, in fc24 man united had a defensive midfield scouting instruction and they would end up with like 9 different CDMs.
It’s a shame that these things carry over to the new game each year, EA really need to do a ground up rebuild of this game because there’s so many layers of bugs that take away from the game we want it to be
They need to give you a lot more control over everything like NBA2K does, the ability to override transfers(trades) would be a big addition. Just unrealistic when villa and Spurs are signing players like Gavi, pedri, tchouameni. EA always had these HUGE features that are really only meaningless gimmicks or so tedious you never do it.
So are the default scouting instructions of the AI teams randomized each save kind of like retiring players, or are they always the same? You do notice the same players going the same places often in multiple saves and that's been a thing for years going back to FIFA 15 when Ciro Immobile went to Man City in every save I did.
The lack of different last name issues is unacceptable ! EA keeps bragging about how they are using AI. You simply need to ask an AI chatbot to generate a list of names for every nation then copy and paste them. They don't give a damn about Career Mode. I just play Online Seasons and kickoff now.
At least all the Armenians aren't named Kardashian...that would be a real travesty 😂😂😂
The funny thing is I remember the 2010 world cup game having an incredible name pool for players for every single country

This shouldn’t even be able to be a problem, why not allow you to edit youth players names, skin colour, hair etc? They really want you to have as little customisation as possible
I exclusively play FIFA single player these days and I just play them when they become free on EA Play each June. Early on there's so many glitches that it's not worth it.

I’ve been looking for games like fifa 22 or 23 to play with mods, so, are you telling me you can have them for free with EA play subscription? Damn, may go with that then, some amazing mods like the 2004 retro FIFA are in 23 and 24 which are 60-70 dollars on steam lol

Yea it’s such a missed opportunity for them to not allow you to fully edit youth players, i get being limited with license players.. but there’s 0 reason why you shouldn’t be able to edit a youth players face and hair, even name

They do work people lied about a few like youth players growing beards they would never add that just yet but players getting taller and weight changing works and was mentioned in the deep dive
A triple A game shouldn't need a patch this early to fix the game
as gerogian with georgians what i noticed is that in womens career some players have male names which is really weird
I did really like the player career mode rework from last year where you get objectives during the season to earn a transfer. For my cam to move to Man United I had to make 60 slide tackles, very nice EA.

Let me guess: Greece still uses ancient first names for academy players like they did from 10 FIFAs ago; such as Aristotle, Sander or Isaakios? Those either are stone age or made-up names.

Nah, Aristotle is legit. I'm part Greek and I have relatives with names like Pericles, Hercules, Constantine, and Augustus. For real. These old fashioned names are more common than you think.

It doesn't make any sense; they use AI, ML and PCG. There's no reason the AI cannot see the problems a team has even years down the line. If I give ChatGPT a roster of players and their positions, it would definitely identify the weaknesses and suggest ways to improve. Why don't they implement it already? Maybe they're waiting to include it in FC26 so we get hyped for it

@@RoyMatzem I'm not asking them to build an LLM, it's a simple formula. Besides, they're already building that kind of AI with players conversations, morale, player performance, team performance, and contract.
And it needs to be executed at the first day of the transfer window; they already do most of the calculations there, that's why the first day usually takes way longer than the rest.
tbh i believe that career mode is designed to be played for 2-3 season max. Trying to be a quick experience, getting people to play UT.
FYI when you searched for players you searched for 16-35 age range. Maybe they have more depth at older ages?
yeah tbf i never take the launch version serious itll be october/november before things will be better but i actually have enjoyed this game already which is rare

Of course these issues aren’t thaaat big of a deal, but it’ll come down to the same question we ask ourselves every year! HOW HARD can it be? How hard can it be to fix a names list, to fix the squad balancing, etc etc. it’s a joke! Instead new broken things are being added. Btw has anyone seen the Luton town stadium in the game yet? Ah yeah, people waited for that for the entire year and nothing got added. It’s a shambles honestly, as it is every year

Yes is good, e difficult too! Man for the first time i suffer tô play. The simulation Mode in ultimate levei is very dififcult. Im make one cm with united, and suffer a lot
the on the field gameplay has definitely improved but off the field I feel has gotten worse. The new menus in career mode are an absolute disaster. They advertised new deeper tactics but the tactics options are actually fewer

The squad building thing sounds like this too me... They programed it thinking that it would take people a long time to get through a career and by the time you would get far enough into a single career to start having problems you should already be buying the next game instead.... They don't want you playing long saves. That doesn't make them money. That's what it sounds like too me.
Is it really that hard for ea to go on Google and code the top twenty most common names for each country into the game. Would literally take them less than a day to do every nation 😂

There are quite a few names of Portuguese origin in Sri Lanka. One looks at names of people who have played for the Sri Lankan cricket team will tell you the "half Sri Lankan" who commented telling you that there isn't, obviously knows fuck all about his own country.

This one of the best videos to show how the career mode really works.Thankyou man.they should really fix the squad building in transfers because there's really no point to play a longer carrer mode save because the teams will become awful.
I tried to scout in Congo DR, and instead of surnames like Botaka and Tshimanga, I got Traoré's, Diaby's, and Falls. Those names are Malian.
I think skipping deadline day messes up some teams ability to transfer from what i read on reddit

The new scouting nations mean very little when there’s little choice of national teams to play as and there’s 0 new leagues in the game and still 10 full leagues from past games that have been removed.

Nice overview. I played career mode in the last 15 years, but i just cancelled my pro membership. There are some new things that could be good, but still too many things must be adjusted manually via live editor or mods. I really cant understand how they cannot fix simple things like the names of youth players. I usually go int 10-12 years into a save and its almost unplayable if you dont twist a couple things for yourself.
Btw i wouldnt be surprised if man city had a couple 35+ years defenders and keepers there 😂
Man saying transfers looked real, but missed a Barcelona player moving to Ipswich for +70 million Euros. So EA just talking the same shit as they do, but nothing will change because lets be honest, most people watching this are still gonna buy it.

I don't know if you noticed as well, and i don't even own FC 25, but i've noticed troughout the videos, youth academy GK's literally start off with 10 diving, every single one, in FC 24, youth academy GK's always had lower positioning than the rest of the stats but it wasn't a 40 rating difference. It means you pretty much can't trust a youth academy GK ever.

Youth academy players growing and getting taller was in older FIFA games games.
Not every player turns up when you look teams up on the transfer market so i think you need to double check this information before saying they have fewer players than they might

i don’t care about anything to be honest i’m just so glad they finally added the no sacking option, for years ive been playing career mode through the year and 9/10 of my career modes ended from getting sacked wrongly. My 2 clubs are Liverpool and Wrexham so i naturally have done career modes with them more over the years, if u don’t win the treble with liverpool u get close to being sacked then if u don’t win anything u get sacked simple as that which is awful like klopp went a couple years with no trophies, it’s not realistic to sack klopp after all he did. Then for wrexham i took them to UCL football twice last year then i think one career mode i finished 6th the following season and i got sacked, like a club that wasn’t in the football league for 15 years then getting europe completely under one manager it’s never happening in real life. Sure u can just win more games and not get sacked but u want it to be realistic and liverpool won’t win a treble every season
So basically it's not worth the price.. better wait for Christmas to buy it at $10.5
I cant fathom the fact that they have been releasing Fifa for 20++ years yet cant hire any decent game tester that can test the game to their limit.
In FC 24, they really took 8 month to fix a player whose on international duty that cant be sub before a match. That problem has been from fifa 20.
If they dont have time on their side, just hire those mods creator to fix surname. Even modders can do that in 2 or 3 month
I don't think you showed the youth academy aging very well at all. I do agree that 16-21 should show some change in body type and facial structure, as they are training through those years and eating healthily to solidify their footballing careers, but I think you should have simmed for more than 2 hours. If EA pushed this as a feature, I seriously doubt they'd stop aging at 16. 16 compared to 25 or 26 might show more differences since that's closer to the player's prime.
I do take issue with the squad building; why can't these huge companies look at the work of modders and implement it into their own code? Not worth paying a programming team for an extra few weeks? Ugh.

I’m not sure if anyone else has had this but but every GK I scout will always have less than 20 diving and ever outfield player has less than 30 heading accuracy.

How long after a new fifa comes out does it usually take for mods that expand the name pools and increase the number of national teams to come out? And would there be any mod that improves how AI teams behave in the transfer market?

I don't know how difficult it can be to code over 500 surnames per nation, that's all it needs for some variation. The Sarkisian thing is just sad, not even a Kardashian in there for bants

In fairness some of these thinga could be bugged, it is release week after all. Not saying it's acceptable but it's possible.
I did notice a small difference, the player's face looked a little fuller at 22. Or maybe it was just the angle and it was actually exactly the same 😂. Nothing would surprise me with EA. In fairness i fully expected the players to morph into hideous monster and alien looking things, so maybe no change is good.
I want to do an Adelaide United career mode, they’re my home city. While I’m excited at more African countries to scout in, as we have some amazing refugees come through our academy, that’s the only noticeable feature that will make this save better. No AFC champions league and poor AI squad building again 😭😭
What about live start points and does it has real injuries
When taking over a national squad I couldn’t find national team sheet where you can pick what players to be called up and dropped ?

Absolutely hated this year's career mode. There's actually less tactical options than before, the menus are absolutely dreadful, with delay in commands and with everything looking overcomplicated and at the same time looking like it's always lacking information. The gameplay isn't the best too but that can be fixed, most of the other things are unfixable and most likely will take years and many game iterations to go back to a good state...
I’ll mark the countries with single names as must avoid.
How difficult is it for EA to just search up most common names from a nation? I don’t get how they added nations then made it so only one second name can be scouted.
love your content but the youth stuff is a bit of a spoiler for me cause I thought they would grow beards get more muscle or different hairstyles as they grow . hope it does change tho

Well, I must admit that the feature being completely broken and doing nothing not only doesn't really surprise me, it actually is somewhat fortunate compared to what I thought might happen with it. After seeing some of the monstrosities people created with the face editor, I thought there was a chance after a few seasons your youth players might end up resembling Frankensteins monster 😂

I been a player since fifa 17 I have bought every fifa/ea fc to my console however I bought fc 24 in pc (I also had fifa 23 but didn’t play it cuz I failed to mod it) but in fc 24 I did get how to mod it properly so now when I played fc 25 I instantly left cuz it was just way worse than modded fc 24( faces,kits,features,etc) so I feel I won’t buy fc 25 until is on discount and the modding community starts cooking.
What about the game play problems they have every single year: wingers not tracking back, lazy CDMs, poor tackling and ridiculous dribbling/passing skills for the opponent?
They fix or add stupid things while the big problems that really affect our joy from the game are being left behind

Damn this is SO disappointing. I have skipped Fifa 23 and EAFC 24 (after buying Fifa for eight years straight) in the past two years and was enjoying a lot of career mode RUclipsrs recently. Was deciding whether or not to purchase EAFC 25 this year, due to the promised improved quality of career mode. However, this video made me decide not to do so. Probably for the better haha
Your choice but this is the biggest improvement in one fifa/fc game to the next I’ve ever seen, that being said the game is not perfect, but it’s fun.

Nicholson clearly bulked out in his face by the age of 22. He may not have grown, but the Cranium technology works. Maybe you were expecting something more drastic, but he clearly put more weight on around his jaw and cheeks. His face was way more slim at 16.

I laughed at "He grew so fast" and i though of myself, my parents and relatives thought i'd be a short guy cuz at 14 i was 1.44, skip like 2 years i was 1.78 LMFAO and now i'm 1.85

So, so far I've had more fun playing fc24. I keep getting frustrated with trying to set up tactics in fc25, I found it more user friendly in fc24. I am also not use to how they set up the menus in fc25 yet.

i scouted players from Tonga and Eswatini and they all had the same last names Tonga ONLY had Lima and Eswatini had Nkosi.
They literally could’ve posted on Reddit and asked for someone to give them a list of names from countries and they would’ve done it. Instead they half-assed it

Visual ageing (if it worked) would be an excellent idea if career mode was actually worth playing... but it isn't. It hasn't been for 10 years. The fact they're touting this sort of feature when league player records *still* don't update when beaten is a total joke. Every basic feature in career mode is either broken, boring, or too confusing and disorganised.
And I get it - Ultimate Team makes lots of money, so they want people to play it. But they *deliberately* ruined career mode to disincentivise offline play, simple as. It's disgusting.
Can’t be hard to just chat gpt names and put it in there. Get a fucking intern to do it for you, will literally be a days work.
