Nissan Frontier Engine Replacement

This is a follow up to my pull prep video.
in this video I pull a blown 2008 vq4.0 engine from a manual 4x4 king cab Nissan Frontier. and replace it with a 2005 vq4.0 engine from an auto Xterra.

What changes were made to the engine after 08? Most places list compatibility from 05-08 and 09-13. What needs to be changed to make an engine from a 2011 work with a 2005?

Remove the oil pan instead of the differential. Putting the engine in without the oil pan saves time. Those flywheel bolts need a Torx Plus 55 TP55.

A regular TP55 will be loose inside the flywheel bolt head.

The P in TP signifies “plus” a regular t55 bit will be too loose yes.
