I saw them, too, at the Alameda festival. We were blown away by this band! The sound was incredible. I saw Aja Vu about 12 years ago in Redwood City, CA and was amazed by the sound. Have been wanting to see them again badly. SO happy they were in Alameda, my hometown. I will really look forward to seeing them again soon!!! Thank You for your artistry!

Man, this lead singer has got exactly those qualities you want in a tribute singer - sounds like a similar voice without sounding like an imitator or impersonator, so brings their own thing to the song while still sounding in the pocket of the original. Technically speaking probably actually better than Donald at his peak. And he plays trombone to boot!
They're all good friends, and they've now changed members a bit, and you're right,... I've seen "The Dan" a number of times live, and these guys are truly better live, than the real thing most of the time... The most recent configuration are still great... Like Walter said... I'm thinking "franchise"...

Were the Dan the best band ever ? Maybe not. They were unique though
One of the best SD covers I've ever heard but the last cut shown here, Hey Nineteen, was not very well done. Too fast for starters.
