I was thinking, is it about time to change my Honda Civic Type R.?..and look for something different.
Let us have a look around this 2008 Mercedes-Benz C200 CDI (W204) and see if i would like to buy it.

Ive owned one of these for 150,000km and I can guarantee it is a solid, high quality car that returns decent economy. But then again...I do all maintenance myself :P

I can do basic maintenance myself (oil and all other fluids, brake pads, bulbs, and spark plugs if it is a petrol engine). Did you c-class suffer any problems that go beyond basic maintenance such as transmission issues, turbo failure, issues with electronics, etc?
Owned it up to 300000 km with 3.0 l v6 ,only issue was steering column lock motor and intake manifold flaps( one with plastic on the back) and you guys will not believe my replaced rotors with akebono ceramic lasts me 128000 km driven on highways, best setup I ever used on any car I owned.never changed suspension components . I put big tires 235/50/17 on rial m10 and ride quality was way better than my w212 2014.
Changed engine oil every 10000 km with Lubro moly 5 w40 not 0w40. For transmission oil always use motul oils with original pan and filter .
All this comes from real life experience. And one more thing always start car with ac off. It will save you ac unit.
Mine was 2008 c300 with 3.0 lm272 7 speed avant-garde .
I know its too late daniel c but i bought a 2009 c180 kompressor. 100k miles . Its a fine car in good condition, just a cracked drivers seat. is there anything I should look out for?
I m still happy with my c300 with 72000 km in 11 years.
Just got a 2009 W204 C200 Kompressor with 100k km on it. All good except I redid all the wiring for the lights, front and back. And changed the screen to an OEM Android player designed for pre-facelift W204, so it looks like newer Mercedes' standing screen with full integration into the existing system.
Where did you source the android for pre facelift, could you send link?

There is one aspect you did not touch on: Safety, I was in a huge accident with my father in law's W211 E-class. I will never look at buying cars the same way again...
I won one for 3 years now the car is simply a beast on road. Cant complain no repairs yet nothing to say just its Mercedes

There's a good way to remove stickers from paint: All you need is a wet towel and a hair-dryer. You apply the wet towel on the sticker and above the towel, you blow hot air. So...glue becomes liquid again and sticker gets easily removed ;)

This is a five year old vid, and still giving good service despite high mileage Stavros! Genuinely the most appropriate, on-point review, doing the sort of testing of the car, and examining, I am going to need to know about this week to look at buying one. The tax system here in the UK suffers the same issue - the govt layers a new suite of changes, on top of what’s already there. This fear of changing presently-taxed vehicles, demonstrates their lack of confidence in messing with the system. Anyway, this would be an adequate amount of power, and what they seem to do is sprout another turbo, and get mapped to produce more power, up at the 220 cars. But I suspect, this model is more reliable overall, because there is less torque and my experience of gearboxes of all sorts amounts to this: when they cram more gears in, the gears are thinner and smaller. So a five speed is bang-on in my view. I had a four-speed VW Passat from when it was 113k miles, to 193k miles, and until a bearing went, it was good for most of that time, with me doing two transmission oil changes. the reason the paint is coming of is cause your using a high pressure power washer to close to the paint nothing to do with stickers if you peeled them off with tar and clue remover and by hand you would have avoided loosing paint

Picked up a 2011 C220 W204 Facelift two weeks ago for €11,300. Knocks out about 175bhp and a much nicer black interior with piano black trim. 6 spd manual so no worries there - tax only €200 so very happy overall. Has already started giving parking sensor problem though :(

Declan Dowling wow I’ve been wondering why Mercedes benz is cheaper over here in the states that price would get you one 2011 c300 or c250 with about $4000 balance or rather a 2012 to 2014 facelift model and these cars are manufactured over there in Europe
should be cheap for you to buy replacement parts online for cheap to DIY repair it mate
The parking sensor is interfering with the bumper, it's nothing serious. I guess something moved while going over a bump or pothole or something

Remember to check those rod bearings every 60 000km, oh and the VANOS, and the valve cover gaskets. I hope you took the manual and not the DSG :)

Stavros powerwash removing paint from main panels on your civic ?Was the car previously damaged ? Original paInt shouldnt come off that easy ??Anyway no need to use pressure to remove stickers,heat is what you need and they will peel off effortlessly without damaging your paintwork.You could either use a kettle of boiled water or a hairdrier or heatgun just heat up your panel and the stickers come of without any harm done.Probably best not to put stickers on bodywork though, safer to stick (literaly) to the glass.Great video on the Merc by the way keep up the good work.Oh yeah with regard to the power difference between the Merc and your Honda I dare say that Merc is a.lot heavier than the civic and with a lot less horsepower so bear that in mind as well.Whats it called again power to weight ratio !Great job as usual Stavros keep them coming !

Here in Australia we are paying via the weight class of the car and age has no effect to tax paid only weight..my 94 pajero/shogun4x4 is close to $1000 au which i consider expensive..
Hi stigonutube all cars registered in Ireland before July 1st 2008 fall into the old tax system where your tax is based on your engine capacity. All cars registered after that date have their tax based on the CO2 emissions of the car.

But, you have to take into consideration the low price of a 2nd hand MB. All mileage cars have a "renewal" cost.
A Stanley knife will take off stickers without damaging the paint

Its decently expensive but I reccomend doing your own maintenance as much as you can
Best way to get rid of stick is hot water or a hair dryer! dont use a heat gun and only a 2.1 engine and so much to pay in road tax.

The Merc is a diesel and they're about to be butt spanked under emissions and tax regulations. This car would be banned from many cities before long.

Vw b6 Passat, the best car Volkswagen has ever made till date! I owned one, a beauty, and great driving automobile. The newer Passat these days are just shameful, can’t be compared.

I think you are correct sterling mad i could not think of any other use for them as they cannot be opened.
You held the washer too close to the paint. I'd say the stickers would have came off easily by hand with even a drop of petrol and a rag.
Is water based paint. That's why.

ohh man, i was wincing watching you powerwash those stickers stavros!! im a vehicle detailer and see this all the time. people damaging their paint with powerwashers. it doesnt have to have been repainted previously, all it takes when holding the washer at high pressure so close is it to catch even the smallest of stonechips and this is what happens. i remove decals from vehicles and a simple heatgun followed by tar n glue remover on any surplus residue and its sorted. too late telling you this now though lol. as for the merc, stay well clear, they are a money pit. and as for that interior!!!! nice video as always stav 😎

The previous model to this W204 C-Class was the W203 C-Class that particular model had a very plasticky interior, but this W204 interior is of quite good quality. Honda Madness cheer's.

Definitely a car that will only sell to someone who wants a Mercedes badge rather than anyone looking for decent power, economy, value, interior space or running costs. I can't believe how little power it makes while still giving worse economy than I get from my 200 bhp diesel.
Bit more power would be nice peeler they are a fine car though. Good driving position, comfortable, and better steering wheel adjustment that my Civic too.

I couldn't do that George Falls this was my own mistake.
The w201 had the handbrake in the center console. W202, w203, w204 and w205 all have the foot to hand brake operation.

I can't believe what you're doing to the poor car. WHAT THE FUCK, you chipped the paint by using that damn high pressure cleaner, and then you continued doing so? Didn't it occur to you that you SHOULD NEVER DO THAT? You should never handle that thing like you did. Don't keep it in one spot, and for sure don't hold it so close to the paint. That is not designed to remove stickers!
