I was driving a 2012 one of these when I learnt that autobahn off-ramp turns in the middle-of-nowhere Germany are surprisingly tight. On a filthy, wet night the rear tyre just grazed the gravel edge of the banked turn. The car twitched, and it was nearly brown pants time. I like them !
I've got the coupe version of the e class (which is basically the c class underneath, confusingly) the 350d. It's a very comfortable cruiser but not one for hustling down a b road. The foot operated handbrake is a bit strange too. But overall it's well made and touch wood has been very reliable (I bet now I've said that it won't start tomorrow morning...)
I bought a 2009 pre-facelift petrol estate version of one of these a year ago, 120k miles for £5500 but also in better condition than yours. Put in new battery, full service, transmission service, new tyres, new brake pads & discs all round, full valet, stone chips filled, and a few bits of interior trim replaced with new. Then added a 10” interior screen (with Apple CarPlay), reverse camera and hard wired phone charging in. It’s honestly like driving a 2018 car now. Will keep it for years.
@@recall2880 I bought it 3yrs ago. But you’re right: You can now get a shit, worn out one with a diesel engine for half the price, yes. Most petrol auto ones with decent mileage and (like mine) have been looked after are still £4500+.
@@recall2880 I paid £5500 3 years ago, yes, when I needed a car and used market prices were a bit higher. I wanted an immaculate, cared for, petrol auto that will last me another decade. And that’s what I got. Today, anything similar spec that’s in as good condition is still £4500+, and many the same price I paid.
I just got myself a 2015 version of one of these, so must be just before the new version came out. It's the 220d that I had remapped, it's very nicely specced with pan roof, heated seats, sat nav etc. So comfy to cruise along in and has plenty of grunt for overtaking and the occasional bit of fun. Planning to keep it serviced and advisory free for the foreseeable future! It's all the car I could ever need.
The business world is still liveable and doable thanks to ethical and honest folks like you Matt, here's hoping more people realise cut throat competition doesn't necessarily have to be on the demise of an honest penny. Your videos are a must watch 👍
Always fun to see what turns up next. Nice review video with great ideas, very much appreciated you make your personal motivation known so if inclined to, we all can learn.
Nice to see the same car as mine on the channel! The car is very much at home on the faster sweeping twisting roads around Buxton where you take your cars (motorways too) handles superbly and effortlessly. Very good car in the snow (even better with snow socks)… it’s nicely balanced. Good to hear someone else values good morals and ethics 👍
My friend has one of these almost in the exact same spec and he absolutely adores it, fantastic on fuel, great looking and fast enough for what he needs. He has his wheels in a hyper silver and they look grand. Interesting point of note is that Merc know the seats have issues with bolster and the bases so I believe you can buy the base separately from them for £70ish
I once had a 2013 Mercedes C Class CDi estate. A fantastic car - a lusty 2.2 litre diesel, great grunt, looked fantastic, really nice interior and was a lovely drive. Picking this one up for £4k was an absolute steal! I’d certainly have another one…….
Absolutely agree with that "business shouldn't be one sided". In fact this is actually a guidance in my religion not to exploit the seller or the buyer in a business transaction. Problem is the world we live in has become self centred and we want to win everything and have the best deals on our favour with happily forcing others into a loss.
Hi Matt, been watching your channel for as long as I can remember. Great review as always but what stuck with me was your take on life, I wish more people started thinking like that. There’s enough to go around for everyone yet you see dishonesty across all industries nowadays as if people are holding an old grudge. Just doesn’t add up to me…
Amazing honesty, but I think that Mercedes looks amazing! I really like the interior from these models, although outdated, they still look real classy!
Hi Matt, I'm very impressed with your principles & how you treat your customers. I wish others in your line of work had a similar approach to what is morally correct. Also really impressed with the end result of this Mercedes......I hope you find a good home for It! Keep up the great work 👍
I own a 2013 Black C220 C class with a manual gearbox. It is £20 a year to tax and I can get over 700 miles out of a full tank. It is serviced regularly and I hoping to get 20 years out of it.
I have watched most of your videos and I like the way you are honest about the way you operate. Used car dealers have a bad reputation but your videos explain the rationale behind how they make money (and why they are entitled to do so) very well. All used car dealers have a right to make a profit/living and most private sellers would not have the means/contacts to do what you do viz a viz improving cars and making them ready for sale. You guys make the used car buying experience easier; that's your job and you should be paid for it. Keep the videos coming
Hi Matt, love what you did with the car. It looks great, but the rusty wheel nuts let the wheels down somewhat. I just thought it was a pity since the wheels themselves look brand new.
I finally found the channel, the amount of honesty, chill, calmness made me go back to watch history to search this up. Subbing for more awesome vids!!
Had the pre-facelift car, a 57 plate C220 CDi in AMG spec. Really liked it and it had a few good options fitted to it. Pan roof, parking sensors and heated seats. That’s the thing with that generation of C-Class, Mercedes were super stingy with standard equipment. If I were to have another one it would have to be the 350CDI and with a good spec to match
@@HighPeakAutos Agreed I hate anything with swivel wheels and especially the magic mouse nonsense. Also the way the way Mercedes were just sticking a screen on the dash like an after thought looked cheap and tacky they had quite a long phase of doing this.
Nice one. Came up looking beautiful. Dunno why I have a soft spot for MB given the one that I owned (05 C180k) lunched its timing gear at only 153000kms despite full service history but for the two months I had it and ignoring that buy and service it was flushing 10k AUD down the drain it was actually a really nice car to commute in
Very good video, Matt and nice car - shame it's a rattly diesel and the black interior is a bit gloomy, but you've done a good job of turning it around. It'll sell. You deserve to make a bob or two on this one.
I had a 2012 c220d AMG sport plus exact same wheels. I did 160k miles and never missed a beat…. Apart from the alloys cracking all the time. Apart from that I loved mine
That car looks amazing. Will sell very quickly. One negative...why didn't you change the rusty wheel bolts. Especially after the wheel Refurb? Or even spray them black. Happy new year Mat 👍👍
Hi from the rainy lakes 👋 just wanted to say that’s one hell of a transformation and it’s now a car someone should be really proud to own. Only thing I missed was the usual judgement of the tyres, I love how much a set of mismatching ditchfinders can say about the previous owner 😂
Thanks Matt. You have been probably asked this before but, would “your mechanic”, “valeter” your “auto gearbox servicer” your “wheel refurber” do a collaborative vid on your refurbs etc? I’m intrigued about the seating person. I love the car too.
I haven't watched this video yet (but will) I just thought I'd get in there with a question which occurred to me when I was watching your last Q+A. How do you decide how much to pay for a car you're interested in? Do you just go on the 'book price'? The car vertical price? And what exactly is this book? Love your channels and glad it's doing well
For £27 a month you can find all that out with biweekly livestream. I've just learnt that biweekly can mean twice a week or every two weeks, seems a rather useless word.
Realy good job, and you are made for the camera man !! your presence in front of the camera, It's so captivating. Good content and good presentation. Thank you.
Ive said it countless times, that W204 C class design is timeless, elegant and a touch of sport. Reliable engines, as heavy as a tank for that solid feel at the wheel. 4k is like getting the car for free what a deal 💯
The first thing I ask when calling about a car is was it owned by a smoker or dog owner? If yes then it's definitely not a motor for me. Love these videos....keep them coming.
South African here... Came across your channel on Monday, decided to downloada few videos here... Great to listen to while doing night shift😊. Awesome content bro.
cost of getting cars serviced recently is MAD .... Parts on cheaper items doubled .hourly rate maybe gone up as well ....Shocking prices at moment .I would say nearly 40% up on last year
Yea just had new front Brembo discs albeit on 19" wheels fitted for £450. I couldn't believe it, I either got ripped off or it's gone insane. Checked previous invoice and it was like £100 a wheel 5 years ago.
Fantastic way to start the day with a new Highpeak video. And, my favourite era of mercedes, I've actually just gone from a 2021 330e to a 2014 E class coupe (opt out scheme) so this one and its transformation are very familiar to me. Excellent work! Keep going. 🥳
Bit late as usual to the party but god bless you for being so honest with that old guy , you reminded me of something like what the late great Ayrton Senna said at spa when he agreed a new contract with Mclaren in 1990, business is only good when its good for both sides, I have always remembered this and tried to be like this, another great review good ser.
Ive been watching your channel for some time now & i really like your choice of cars. I also like the way you conduct yourself on your channel as in my experience most car dealers are only out to fleece customers for all they can get. So i take my hat off to you sir for that. If i was in the market to buy a good used car i would be checking you out. Also i would highly recommend to my friends & colleagues if they were thinking of buying too. Thanks again for your videos & keep them coming.
Looks superb Matt 👍 and well worth the investment. I've got a 2014 C200 too. Bought October 2021. It's my first Merc and I love it. He's called "Wilson" which is a long story. Mine's had one previous owner and the original purchaser cheaped out a bit on the extras so it doesn't have heated seats either. But, with only 52k miles on it it was worth having. I I did notice that yours has folding rear seats (handy) and the Becker Map Pilot too. The W204 series diesels are sadly not ULEZ compliant despite being extremely clean which is a shame. Speaking of which, at 2' 20" did you by any chance punch the "Eco" button to turn off that annoying Stop/Start? Yep, I do that too 😁
I love watching your videos, an honest car trader. Almost as rare as hen's teeth. Good on ya. I would definitely buy from you knowing how much effort you put into these cars. Top man.
Recently sold a 62 plate C350 CDi AMG Sport estate as it just wasn't quite practical enough with 3 kids. Honestly, the best car I've ever owned. Well made, comfortable, ecomomical, a rocketship...if it was just a bit roomier, I think we'd have kept it forever!
my dad purchased one of these exact model with 41k miles 2013 its a brilliant little everyday car and loves motorways, steering is beautiful around town, its comfortable and quiet, pulls really well after 50mph and is good on diesel, I'd say its the best spec to go for, I couldn't live without full leather heated seats. A few negative things to note, the Gearbox doesn't know what gear to be in or as I'd like it and the changes are slowish but its ok to live with, also it has an old Bluetooth system I cant connect to.
I bought a C300 a month ago, so when I saw your video pop up, i had to drop what I was doing to watch. I love the way your one came out & it looks well worth the price
Another great video, great turnaround and nice profit margin too! I have a story with that exact spec of C class. Back in 2013 my mother was wanting an E class, she had called up the local dealer and when she turned up the salesguy said something along the lines of a lady doesn't want a big car like the E class, its too hard to park. He took her out and presented a black C220d amg line plus (I think is that spec) and needless to say she walked across the road after the test drive and bought a 5 series (f10).
You are a decent honest man ,which is quite rear these days. I used to have a 2015 E220 CDI and the car was so lovely to drive, light and nimble compared to the BMW 520D. Only down side about the mercedes was plastic engine parts.
I've literally just got myself a c class 350 Cdi estate 2013 plate it's absolutely a joy to drive. I'm still getting used to it, but I'm really happy with it so far. 😌
This one I like a lot. It's amazing how good this generation looks with a bit of caring. And yeah ok, it's the amg-pack. But still! All the shops did an amazing job!

And that's why your successful, where many other's fail. Good on you mate. My best car ever was the c63 a proper rocket, but company car forced the sale really so I now have a Mazda 6 with a troublesome skyactiv-D engine. Previous generations were built much better.

You paid 5500 for a 2009 one of those! You were majorly ripped off. Can get one for half of that
@@recall2880 I bought it 3yrs ago.
But you’re right: you *can* get a private sale diesel manual that’s not been looked after for half the price. But I didn’t want a shit box.
How are you finding it? I’ve got the same spec as you but the c250 version which has more power, pick it up Thursday 👍
That's so good to hear Matt, honesty is the best policy. I really do admire you for that. Great video as always Matt.
Your morals and story delivery are the two main reasons i subscribed. Much respect!❤️
The business world is still liveable and doable thanks to ethical and honest folks like you Matt, here's hoping more people realise cut throat competition doesn't necessarily have to be on the demise of an honest penny. Your videos are a must watch 👍
Thanks!
Always fun to see what turns up next. Nice review video with great ideas, very much appreciated you make your personal motivation known so if inclined to, we all can learn.
Thanks. I appreciate that!
Its great that Matt doesn't want to rip people off, but also wants to make sure the car is properly repaired and restored for a sale.
A fresh breath of air to hear a man dealing in cars and speaking of morals, great 👍
I once had a 2013 Mercedes C Class CDi estate.
Just doesn’t add up to me…
I know. Theres no need for it. I see it all day long.
Amazing honesty, but I think that Mercedes looks amazing! I really like the interior from these models, although outdated, they still look real classy!
Hi Matt,
I'm very impressed with your principles & how you treat your customers. I wish others in your line of work had a similar approach to what is morally correct. Also really impressed with the end result of this Mercedes......I hope you find a good home for It! Keep up the great work 👍
yo honesty just made me subscribe
Thanks!
I own a 2013 Black C220 C class with a manual gearbox. It is £20 a year to tax and I can get over 700 miles out of a full tank. It is serviced regularly and I hoping to get 20 years out of it.
Until 2033? That will be good going.
Awesome, thank you!
Why not go for a petrol engine?
@@PointNemo9 you could only get either the base level c180 or the c63 as a petrol with these, the rest are diesels
1:54 This is identical to my thinking and the way I treat people. It is also the very reason that when I next need a car I'm going over to see Matt.
Iv allways like this shape C class! I think it's aged pretty good too
I agree
The face lift one like the one in the video is brilliant. The only thing letting it down today is its old infotainment system.
@@gravemind6536 I think there's companies out there that can update the infotainment so you can use android auto etc
@@gravemind6536 at least the system is easy to operate unlike the C Class whic replaced this
@@HighPeakAutos Agreed I hate anything with swivel wheels and especially the magic mouse nonsense.
The old 2.1 isn’t half noisy
I had a 2012 c220d AMG sport plus exact same wheels. I did 160k miles and never missed a beat…. Apart from the alloys cracking all the time. Apart from that I loved mine
That car looks amazing. Will sell very quickly. One negative...why didn't you change the rusty wheel bolts. Especially after the wheel Refurb? Or even spray them black. Happy new year Mat 👍👍
Just an amazing human being 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 we need more salesman like you Matt !!
Thanks!
Hi from the rainy lakes 👋 just wanted to say that’s one hell of a transformation and it’s now a car someone should be really proud to own. Only thing I missed was the usual judgement of the tyres, I love how much a set of mismatching ditchfinders can say about the previous owner 😂
Haha thanks. These all match
Love your channels and glad it's doing well
Thats a difficult one. Usually start with a trade price then work up or down from there depending on the specific car
I love these cars, and that steering wheel is the perfect thickness 😂 especially is C63
Yes they are!
South African here... Came across your channel on Monday, decided to downloada few videos here... Great to listen to while doing night shift😊. Awesome content bro.
Thank you
cost of getting cars serviced recently is MAD ....
Keep going. 🥳
Honesty is always worth the good reputation it brings
It has nothing to do with dishonesty if you don't disclose what you think something is worth. 🤦♂🤦♂
@@worldhello1234 i will agree to disagree
Honesty and integrity will always be the highest values for a good man and a good professional and you have both. Kudos Matt!
Yep, I do that too 😁
Yeah its irritating
I love watching your videos, an honest car trader. Almost as rare as hen's teeth. Good on ya. I would definitely buy from you knowing how much effort you put into these cars. Top man.
First 🤣🤣🤣😛
Congrats bro🤓
Recently sold a 62 plate C350 CDi AMG Sport estate as it just wasn't quite practical enough with 3 kids. Honestly, the best car I've ever owned. Well made, comfortable, ecomomical, a rocketship...if it was just a bit roomier, I think we'd have kept it forever!
Never took you for a very wise guy. But your words of wisdom are truly awesome.
Matt You're a very honest car dealer most dealers would have ripped the gentleman off. It’s good to see honest dealers 🙂
my dad purchased one of these exact model with 41k miles 2013 its a brilliant little everyday car and loves motorways, steering is beautiful around town, its comfortable and quiet, pulls really well after 50mph and is good on diesel, I'd say its the best spec to go for, I couldn't live without full leather heated seats. A few negative things to note, the Gearbox doesn't know what gear to be in or as I'd like it and the changes are slowish but its ok to live with, also it has an old Bluetooth system I cant connect to.
'I couldn't live without full leather heated seats' - how's that for a classic bit of unconscious first worldism.....!?!?
YES YOU COULD!!!!!
I bought a C300 a month ago, so when I saw your video pop up, i had to drop what I was doing to watch. I love the way your one came out & it looks well worth the price
1:49 need more people like you in the world
Your moral inclinations have granted you a sub. You're a king.
Thanks!
Matt, you are a genuinely nice person, I wish more car traders were as honest as you. Fair play and good luck with your business ventures
I’ve always loved this car, and I really like your honesty always ❤
08-13 C class are some of the most reliable MB's. Thx for videos and honest reviews
Love your morals. Very decent and honest guy.
Business should not be one sided. It should work for both parties.... Great phrase, great moral stance, respect!
Great to see you have ethics. Love that era of C-class
I still have my W204, it’s a brilliant car and has been very reliable and all I have done so far is keep up with the maintenance.
Keep doing what you’re doing the world needs more people like you
I've literally just got myself a c class 350 Cdi estate 2013 plate it's absolutely a joy to drive. I'm still getting used to it, but I'm really happy with it so far. 😌
This one I like a lot. It's amazing how good this generation looks with a bit of caring. And yeah ok, it's the amg-pack. But still! All the shops did an amazing job!
Well done, Matt. You are a very honest guy and deserve every success. I agree with you totally, business is about both parties doing well out of the deal.
I think so
And that's why your successful, where many other's fail. Good on you mate. My best car ever was the c63 a proper rocket, but company car forced the sale really so I now have a Mazda 6 with a troublesome skyactiv-D engine. Previous generations were built much better.
