If your garage was close to where I live I’d definitely buy a car from you!Seem super honest and actually fix cars before selling them. So many dodgy garages about nowadays
I find it astonishing that people will buy a fairly new, expensive, quality car for say £20k, and then skimp on a £300 service. I just don't get it. I've had loads of older cars over the years and even when they are worth peanuts, I would never not get it serviced exactly on time. Why do people do it?
Definitely spend all their spare cash on PCP or hp so nothing left to spend on maintenance especially when they will just chop it in again on 12 months for something in fashion
If it’s your main method of transport, and where you’re spending a significant amount of time, why wouldn’t you keep it clean and maintained? Baffling.
They may have maintained it themselves, possibly rather than probably! I do my own servicing, partly to save some money, that's how it started, but mainly because I have trust issues having seen some of the stunts many garages put, I also then know it's done properly with quality parts. Obviously can be a problem come sale time but I'm aiming to keep my current car for ever so not a problem.
Rapidly approaching the moneypit sunset. Granted this is the UK but still absolute garbage quality. I've got a 30 year old nissan bluebird, none of those issues, they just run and run.
Where's the quality in a car with engine and gearbox mounts expired already, brake lines rusted and kaput. A tractor engine, and a stinking aircon. Mercs are just glorified taxis thats all.
@@rambleon3698 Wrong. Engine and gearbox mounts lasted for 14 years (you should find out how long a motor mount lasts on other cars and you will see that 14 years is very good), brake lines and stinking aircon got to that state because the car lived in a wet area, it was probably parked near the sea and it's completely normal for a 14 years old car...
Im shocked at the disparity of labour costs between north and south - here in Gloucestershire youd be lucky to see change out of £600 for a wheel refurb, with many places charging closer to a grand.

Much prefer the interior and controls to newer cars (I hate cars with everything controlled by a tablet screen thing stuck on your dashboard). Engines a bit noisy when cold but on the move fine. Very comfy on a long journey and fuel efficient for quite a biggish lump.
Hi Matt great video as usual, different car I know but I’ve recently bought an Lexus NX it’s 8 years old with 77k on the clock…..I booked it into Derby Lexus and asked for a full service and a gearbox service…. Apart from usual consumables, all i have every had to replace is the clock spring on steering wheel @ 90k miles and water pump @125k miles. g/box serviced every 40-50k miles and i've latterly increased engine oil change intervals to every 5k-8k miles and the engine still runs as sweet as a nut (55 -60mpg on a run) . Nice buy! I own a ‘08 s204. I love it and drive it for 6 years now. The rear subrame can be a problem on these cars. They will rust from the inside out and break. Mercedes replaced the rear subrame on my car under warranty when it was 11 or 12 years old! Als check the brake lines under the subrame, they will also rust..
I've had one of these for 10 years, but with the V6 engine. A lot smoother than the 4-cyls and will still do 50mpg without trying too hard. Big enough carry a wardrobe, but not tank-like to drive at all. Rear tyres don't last long, wish mine had 17-inch rather than 18-inch wheels. Such nice cars and they are priced so reasonably here in Ireland as many can’t keep them on road due to tax and insurance prices, was dead set on buying a c180 saloon myself until I priced insurance

I just bought a 2012 R Class here in Canada - a true 7-seater station wagon (estate) with less than 60k miles on the clock powered by a 3.5-liter diesel and in as new condition for $15k (Canadian). I don't think this model was ever sold in Europe and it was never a massive success in North America where the market is either minivans (Honda Odyssey and Toyota) or SUVs. The Merc sits somewhere in the middle. Like a minivan, it has seven seats, with the third row actually being comfortable and usable. Like an SUV it has 4WD and can actually be lifted on rough terrain. Its luggage capacity with seven seats in use is a little limited, but for our family of five plus a dog it is the perfect vehicle. 30 miles to the gallon on the highway, which is amazing for such a large and heavy car. Very happy with it.
What really annoys me is that plenty of C-Classes of this era were made as diesels and they're super good/reliable cars, but now basically useless if you live in a ULEZ/Clean Air Zone
My wife had one as a company car back in the day, I don't remember it ever been reliable. Spent more time at the garage having endless warranty work done.
@owensteele1645 in all fairness the b6 passat estate she had before it was a much better car. Never went wrong once and the build quality was far superior.
I've got the E class convertible with the same engine in and it's no where near as noisy as that. C250cdi is the 200hp engine and must've suited that car really well.
That era I think had corrosion problems with brake lines, fuel lines & subframes. I had to get those sorted on my 2005 SLK. Apparently a known problem.
By coincidence I watched an old review of yours last night of an E-class estate, I think it was an '09 plate. I'd been contemplating either a C- or E- might be my next car. This looked pretty decent but I'd probably need the slightly bigger loadbay of the E-class to get a couple of bikes in the back.
Once again a very nice car back on the road for years to come because you do things correctly that’s why the man paid without photos but you got a bit of money but a lot of admiration people know you only sell the best , no stone unturned ❤
Came across one of your vids from 4 years ago on a Ford Fiesta eco-boost. Just wanted to say how much your whole presentation is now so professional compared to back then.👍
“Hyacinth”… ha ha ha ha I am as American as they get and I love those comments thrown into your videos - that one I got. Love the American references as well, because they’re true. Your content is better with each drop. Thanks, time well spent watching your videos.
It’s funny, you now have the same Mercedes cars and generations I’ve got, and in the same shades. I have a 2013 C 300 4matic sedan and a 2013 S 550 4matic, I really like the look of that wagon though!
My company got me a 2014 EClass 2.1 diesel a couple of months ago after my Nissan Jukes's cvt gearbox let go after 168000 miles. Its on 132000 miles, and i hate noisy cars but for some reason i dont mind it in the merc, once you move off it fades way. What i like is there is no difference in cabin noise between 60mph and 85mph. Plenty of power for normal use, 40mpg urban and 50 motorway @70mph. A 2016 ulez one is still £16000 +.
I managed to pick up a 2009 c250 CGI (1.8L turbo petrol) last year for £3750. It’s a fantastic car and because it’s Blue Efficiency It’s also pretty good on fuel. It’s very refined and comfortable and it’s turned out to be a great small family car.
Welcome baaack. Matt, how much time did you put into this car? That must be the ultimate factor when working out whether £850ish is good money. Other bonuses are that you kept a perfectly decent car on the road for the foreseeable future, which is a nice slap in the face to throw away culture and in built redundancy, and you possibly saved someone from experiencing sudden brake failure! Nice one.
Great video I picked the same car for myself Matt from auction, C250 estate £1800 on a 2011 with 188k, same door card issue!, needed a drop link and a tyre, needs a timing chain as the tensioner is worn. so for less then 3k I've got a super quick safe tank that does 40mpg!
I've got a 2014 C Class saloon Matt and really like it. Mine was bought new by someone who cheaped out with the accessories catalogue, but I still love it. Yes, the 2.1 is a little agricultural and my 136 bhp version does this thing in "sport" mode where it just makes more noise without any perceived performance increase 😂. But that engine is fitted to the Vento van and as such is very durable. You made me really anxious when you pressed the tailgate release as that wall looked awfully close 😬. But it looks a nice example. Privacy glass is nice to see as is the dog guard for your XL Bully 😉. In conclusion then, quite an outlay for the profit BUT another very nice car for the buyer with a potential 100,000 miles more life in it if they look after it. P.s. I also get the gearbox service done on time. It's not cheap but the cost of a reconditioned gearbox is a lot more.
All of those issues, i've had with my 08 C200cdi on 175k miles. Coil springs, rear light plastic, seat cover, ball joints. Common issues. Also ive had a water pump go (no cambelt so not serviced on interval), body module (reset) and the keys play up. I dont skimp on my tyres like this, Michelin Climate Controls last forever and give these grip in the snow. Engines are more bombproof than expected.
Good watch again Matt. However, at 17:09 I am perhaps in the minority. I traded in my 2019 530d a couple of months ago that I had had serviced at BMW, left Michelins all round that had done 5,000 since replacing them and wanted for nothing, but, I deliberately left about 20 miles of diesel in it. My view is that if I’m offering a car thats been well looked after why should I give away half a tank of fuel as well? Particularly given the cost of fuel at present. 😂👍
Made me smile when you said 'Hearsy'. I once said to my Dad, who bought and sold cars privately when I was young, had the opportunity to buy a Merc estate in black and I said 'Dad, it will look like a hearse'. It was great to have a Dad who was into cars, and still is, which is a bonus👍🙂. And question... fake wood trim...has it aged well?..was it ever stylish?...Discuss😉

Great video but as someone who sells second hand cars from a garage, surely you have to offer some sort of warranty.. so So surely that must impact your profit

Such nice cars and they are priced so reasonably here in Ireland as many can’t keep them on road due to tax and insurance prices, was dead set on buying a c180 saloon myself until I priced insurance
Thank your Indian prime minister Leo for high taxes
Why does it matter than he’s Indian, more educated and more ambitious than you’ll ever be?
Hes appropriating Irish education and we had to pay for that. Hes not Irish and is leading Ireland and thats the problem with him being Indian.
More educated and ambitious than i will ever be???? Hes more gay than i will ever be and thats for sure.@@rickp2293
Loved this video as always. All through it was waiting for the obligatory “but I’ve overspent!” Good to see you did make a profit though 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Super good and reliable
lol.
You clearly are new to this
@@Joemamma-c1f Probably one of the most reliable cars of the time.
My wife had one as a company car back in the day, I don't remember it ever been reliable. Spent more time at the garage having endless warranty work done.
@@interceptor-ss8kbThat's the result of production workers at Mercedes going home on Friday afternoons.
Such good cars, bought the exact same thing a year ago, but a 2010 C250CGI with 44k miles, sweet!
Rusty breakdisks are not a problem. After one firm break the rust is gone.
Aux cable input on the left in the glovebox, click cd, then select that on bottom left and change to aux.
Just wanted to say how much your whole presentation is now so professional compared to back then.👍
Great old bus for someone, much better than an suv as you say. With an engine sound like that you should be able to tax it as a commercial vehicle!
Another great video Matt ... and yes, please get rid of all those weeds behind the parking bay
“Hyacinth”… ha ha ha ha I am as American as they get and I love those comments thrown into your videos - that one I got. Love the American references as well, because they’re true. Your content is better with each drop. Thanks, time well spent watching your videos.
Great video. I have a few C Class Mercs, I have two at the moment,
10:08 briliant 😂 our quashquis just gone bag of crap looking to pick one of thease up this week thanks for video
I was thinking 5k is too cheap for a well-sorted one of those. As it sold so fast at 6k, it makes you think whether it could have gone for more.
I think it helps the buyer probably watches these videos and knows how much work Matt puts into cars before selling them
He sure does. How many dealers will do a gearbox service and full engine service for instance. Not enough I would suspect.
About to go and buy the same model tomorrow. A very informative video it will help me with my purchase thank you
‘The car that just keeps on giving, problems’, love your statements Matt
Looked a nice Merc. Thanks for the advice about the brake pipes. I'm glad you didn't loose your shirt on it. Good luck with the house move 😊
I managed to pick up a 2009 c250 CGI (1.8L turbo petrol) last year for £3750. It’s a fantastic car and because it’s Blue Efficiency It’s also pretty good on fuel. It’s very refined and comfortable and it’s turned out to be a great small family car.
Uk and France, top buyers of extremely cheap consumables and spare parts in the auto industry!
I do like those old diesel barges .
I had one for a couple of years and miss the space , don't miss parking it though .
Excellent car! Had one and loved it.
Got a c250 facelift cdi! Pretty sporty and so economical! Get a FL id possible, more features and nicer touches like bluetooth music
10:03 Matt always finds a way to take a dig at qashqai or juke, even when the video has nothing to do with them lol
Nice looking car matt my dad had a silver 320 cdi touring with the same wheels I loved that car
Well done Matt, You managed to drive through my home town of Glossop when the traffic wasn’t at a standstill for once. 😉👍🏻
You saved another car Matt and a excellent video 🚗🚙🚘👏👏👏👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks 👍
Great job Matt. Lovely car
Hi there , these are gorgeous cars I drive Mercedes but only in AMG models , my first s204 was a c63 PPP with 487bhp in calcite white sharp angular line’s especially with aggressive front it was one hell of a car back in its day , and I must applaud a trader like yourself Matt who puts the cars right whatever the cost before selling to wary buyers 😅.. good one mate another one set for s longer life on the roads 👍
Bet that sounded angry 👌
@@nallanw4329 … angry ? 😆 Mate I supercharged it after 2 years owning it to near 800bhp! WEISTEC charger set up was created specifically for this car with a catless exhaust system by IPE and I had memorable experiences owning it for nearly 5 yrs in total 😁. It sounded evil 👿💪🏻👍
Great video but as someone who sells second hand cars from a garage, surely you have to offer some sort of warranty.. so So surely that must impact your profit
@@godspeed6315How come you sold it? I hope to supercharge my c63 one day also but dont see myself ever getting rid of it.
Quite a nice looking car and a much better prospect than a Qash thingy! Maybe not you best profit ever but at least you got the return on your money quite quickly.
I have the facelift 350 CDI estate and the engine on mine sounds so quiet compared to this! So glad didn't go for the 4pot diesel
Hi great job on the Mercedes, you always do a great job on your car's, from marty in Belfast northern Ireland God bless
Well done Matt you put another good car back on the road saving it from the scrap yard someone has got a really good car hopfully stopping them buying an EV..
Nice video, these Merc estates run and run.. I’ve had c class e class, and CLS estates (the last one I really loved) clocked up easily 500k miles between them minimal issues - good independent specialists are great… I’ve stayed away from main dealers
another greart video, really solid cars those, a profits a profit at the end of the day
Ive got an e350 it has those wheels, i got 18 inch s class wheels, and put the black and silver wheel caps, just lifts it
Hi Matt another car with your amazing workmanship done on it which will be on the road for a good few years now and another happy customer great video hope you are well best wishes ian
Fingers crossed!
@@HighPeakAutos definitely Matt best wishes.
I love your enthusiasm.
Lol - i can't believe there are still tyre companies out there that Matt hasn't heard off! Each week i wait for the famous words "nope i've never heard of that!"
It's all the cheap, Chinese rubbish
I had a 2012 c220 sport estate was a lovely car only has it 7 months when someone decided to rear end me and write the car off. I now have a e250 amg line estate which is nice. The interior of your one was real, if the seats are double stiched they are real leather as the artico ones you can not see the stiching 👍👍
Bit of a roller coaster this one! ...but you did well.....im currently running a bmw 520d msport business edition but i really looked at one of these and came very close to buying...very nice motor for the money once sorted👍...and yes zero fuel really bugs the hell outa me...all i can think of is all the little bits of detritus clogging up the filter when you run a car dry...hideous thing to do lol🙏👍
That price is crazy in germany where i live the cheapest one in a 100km radius is 5900€ and it has 300000km on the clock wich is about 186k miles and the engine is knocking
Good vid, I don’t know how you do it Matt, I just had my w203 coupe rear control arm fail and have been quoted 660 with a shock too. It literally just passed its mot last month and I thought that was the end of the list this year, I was wrong 😂 .
As long as there’s no chocolate mouse on the valance, you should be ok 😊
Going to be a great workhorse for someone. Sense a different filming location for this one. I'm going for Dinting on the way into Glossop.
Hello Again, Matt yet another good buy/sell video, please just keep doing them. Regards, RichardA.
I always watch your videos and what you buy then I go onto a well known auction site and see what’s available.
