*LG G Flex Review* LG is at the forefront with their own take on the new trend of curved displays and phones. What does this mean for their newest smartphone? A new form factor, durability, maybe even style? ***** goes through the LG G Flex to find out.
At first when they announced it, i mocked and laughed at it.. but after this review, man i would like to own one.. Great look.. love the sleek design, small bezel... It is gorgeous... :) And as always, splendid review Josh! :)
This phone is beautiful...I have it. I get nothing but shocked faces when I pull it out. The flex set the bar in how to make it big and beautifully comfortable. Guess samsung will copy.
I honestly think that all the bad press about screen being 720p is really not that important. If you want a 1080p screen get the G2. I honestly like the phone, mind you I dont own one yet but i held it and looked at the screen. I dont play games on my phone and if i want to watch something in HD i will pull out my Nexus 7. As for the camera I am disapointed that it didnt come with OIS but its not that big a deal. Battery life, Decent Camera, good user experience is what im looking for. I have an S3 so the LG UI will not bother me that much. Good review on the phone..Oh one more thing. Is it possible that maybe some of the pictures that are being viewed on that screen sort of messes up the image?
No other way "around" it? Pun! Arg!! I wish it was full HD!! What's up with this 720 stuff? That totally nixes it for me. I didn't get the Note 2 because of 720. When the note 3 came out I got it straight away. Full HD 1920x1080 on the Note 3!! Sooo darn slick!!! So come on don't tease me with a big 6 inch screen and then not have it full HD!! The only reason I got the Note 3 is because there wasn't anything bigger. When I had the choice of S4 vs Note 2 though I went with the S4 for the main reason of full HD. Now Note 3 vs G Flex and the lack of HD makes me keep waiting until the next one... It is ALL about the real estate!!! Get rid of the tops & bottoms, the more screen the better. The more resolution the better. It is ALL about real estate.
If you are going to spend a pile of money on gadgets why not get the best? Since 1080p is available on phones like the Note 3 you might as well get it instead of one with only 720p. You really can see a nice difference when they are side by side. I've also got the best tablet on the planet which is the Nexus 10. 2560 x 1600. It is insanely awesome. Blow everything else away. Again it is all about the screen and resolution. Now I would agree if a phone had 1080p vs another with 2560 the pixels would be so small at that point that you couldn't even see them. From 720 up to 1080 though really makes a notable difference. My Note 3 is absolutely incredible as in my Nexus 10. I just now ordered a 4k ASUS monitor for my computer. Can't wait to try that one. I now have the 2560x1440 Asus. It blows away an HD screen. 4k should be insanely awesome once again. If it went much past that though then I'm sure there would come a point where it made little difference. I can still see pixels at 2560x1440 so I expect 4k will be much better. It's all about the real estate:).
Actually you can pretty much be sure if the thing has a high resolution screen it also has the power to run it. Otherwise it just wouldn't work. Really the processor shouldn't even be in the phone. All our screens should just be portals to our personal computers. Even a 10 year old Totally Awesome Computer is faster then the fastest cell phone. I would like to see a smaller portable full power PC that you keep within 500 yards of yourself and your screen you carry is just run through that and a wireless connection. Makes no sense trying to stuff a complete computer into a tiny space. You just end up with a slow computer. Imagine if your home PC was what actually ran your phone and your phone was only a screen that accessed it. It could do anything and at full speed. They just need to put the wireless connection fast enough that you could even play something like BF4 on your portable screen. Really all monitors should just be wireless and battery powered. That way when you go somewhere you could just take your screen with you. If it were only a screen and battery they could have half the weight and super thin. They would also cost very little. Since we are almost always within 500 yards of our car we could keep our super powerful PC in the trunk and or pop it into a backpack when we really need it portable. With ITX motherboards you can build a full power computer smaller than a normal sized netbook. THAT is what should be powering the screen on your tablet. Then it could ALL be screen and battery with just a fast wireless connection. Anyone else agree?
Wireless monitors already exist. What are you talking about? I'm just talking about making them thinner and lighter. There is even a wireless video card that operates directly to a device connected to your monitor.
245ppi, 720p, my tablet has a much, much better screen. They could do a better job here. And for me, the screen is one of the most important things. (We do stare at it every single day, right?)
not worth 299 maybe 199 or 99 for sure, i did get to play with the phone for a while the sales person at my local ATT store let me check it out, not bad, the video play back looks amazing, but still 299 to much
(+1) I actually really like it. I'm very picky when choosing technology. This has very good processor, the Nexus 5 has the same one, and it's the fastest. The only thing is that it has the damn UI, instead of it being stock. that's really the only bad thing. The curve thing, I'm pretty sure I could get used to it, and fully accept it, and maybe even come to love it. Were upgrading our phones in April 2014 from 5 Galaxy S3's, & yes, I'm well aware of the S5 & it's specs, etc. This phone is a BAD ASS when it come to CPU, GPU, & my favorite, and why I'm gonna choose this, is for the BATTER LIFE. Without battery life, your phone is GARBAGE. What makes it a killer phone is the 3,500 mAh battery & Snapdragon 800 2.3Ghz processor. It's absolutely a perfect phone. I'm gonna go and watch some more videos on it, and see what's what. kinda wish it wasn't curved slightly, but I'm pretty sure it probably doesn't matter.
Zaiful Khan The Huawei Ascend Mate actually has a bigger battery, by 50mAH, and it's 6.1"............. fail Really feel like getting the P780 for it's battery and practicality though.
A classmate has won this phone and as I took the phone in my hand I was amazed ! What I love about the phone is, you don't really fel like the screen is 6 inches tall because of that curved body. It makes the phone actually kinda look smaller than it really is. But the most amazing thing is that curve-effect on the screen. It brings a whole new dimension to the display like it's 3d.
McKay Yes it does even on Android 4.4.2 I have this phone but I'm not using it on contract anymore because my 2 years with it passed but before it did I played it on this phone with no problems

what the price tag is? 600$ and up? whatever happened to affordable phones? what if it breaks? lifetime warranty? ya rite. looks cool tho. seems like apple is falling behind...
It irritates me how LG steals Samsung's ideas just releasing them later in the year when newer hardware is available to make them seem better. That is so cheezy. That multitasking originated from Samsung, that center home button the had on their last series did & so did the eye tracking features, before you know it they''ll have air gesture.
My iPods screen broke. I put it back together wrong and the screen bent a little. No cracks. But it does make it appear better. Plus I get my curved that I want. So I'm fine with it.
Does its duel window allow you to use any app or is it limited like the Note 3 and Galaxy phones? My Note 3s stock camera also leans towards the overexposed side of pictures. Had to get a separate app that allowed me to more easily control the ISO my self.
I think it's great but what I really want to know is if Kit Kat will be available on this phone after its release. I think Jelly Bean 4.2.2 is what comes straight out of the box.
Hey josh bro there's one more feature. The lockscreen if you turn it portrait and slie two finger outwards from center to both corner you get Qtheater. If you're unsure how check out lynn la's review

I thought at first it was gonna flex and do different shapes but it cant but flex a lil bit and it to big to enjoy to me 4" is the limit anything bigger should be called a tablet. Dam I can't wait when they bring out the oled type fones or the "I call it the glove fone"
you made a pun "without bending backwards" lol its a nicest phone review in a while :) its good to see the reviewer using the hp, playing with it while voicing his reviews.
According to LG the self healing feature needs sunlight or a light source that generates heat, which is probably why the guy in this video didn't get good results.
Shouldn't Apple sue LG for copying their bend feature?
Ha, should be LG suing Apple.

But lg did it first.

High end price of $299???!!!! That was high end back then?
Economy was stronger, rn it would cost like $380. Also, phones started to cost more from 2015 ig because of new powerful processors
The beginning was really creative :)
this was the first and best review that i had ever seen from AA
I think you won't notice the 720p because the oled display helps because it is over saturated
To really notice a difference between 1080p and 720p you need a monitor larger than 40 inches
except with a TV you're sitting metres away from it, whereas with a phone, it is right in front of you

Does its duel window allow you to use any app or is it limited like the Note 3 and Galaxy phones? My Note 3s stock camera also leans towards the overexposed side of pictures. Had to get a separate app that allowed me to more easily control the ISO my self.
I got one at relatively good price $420. Completely satisfied until nkt unless the Kitkat update still pending. Highly recommended.
wow your english is so fluent!! i wish i could also speak fluently like that.
Yet I read an article of Apple venturing in flex screen too, AND they plan to patent it. Guess they wanna make extra money thru law suits...
I think it's great but what I really want to know is if Kit Kat will be available on this phone after its release. I think Jelly Bean 4.2.2 is what comes straight out of the box.
I'm still using my ONE. Until a phone comes out that really wows me I'm gonna stick with the ONE. M8?????
Hey josh bro there's one more feature. The lockscreen if you turn it portrait and slie two finger outwards from center to both corner you get Qtheater. If you're unsure how check out lynn la's review

Has anybody heard anything on the Original LG G Flex getting the 5.0 update? If so comment please.
I thought at first it was gonna flex and do different shapes but it cant but flex a lil bit and it to big to enjoy to me 4" is the limit anything bigger should be called a tablet. Dam I can't wait when they bring out the oled type fones or the "I call it the glove fone"
I didn't know what to do when he started pushing down on the phone.@_@
Very good review. Packed with facts, not personal opinions. Maybe missing connectivity part. Thanks.
you made a pun "without bending backwards" lol
its a nicest phone review in a while :) its good to see the reviewer using the hp, playing with it while voicing his reviews.
Dude I admit LG have a GODLY Battery
lol at both the gideos he was watching. Freddie Wong and JustKidding Films. Asian tv lol. jkz. nice review
According to LG the self healing feature needs sunlight or a light source that generates heat, which is probably why the guy in this video didn't get good results.
When you sit, the phon bends inn, not out like you are showing ;) nice Reviwe by the way, I'm going to buy the LG g2.
I've read the grey tones are appalling and grainy, just like with the Gnex. Ayone confirm this?
I once had this in 2014 and I liked it but even if it it existed in 2020 it looks diamond clear even at 720p impressive durability as well
and today, ladies and gentleman, we have folding phones! Again...
