      Wrote that before watching whole video. At least while recording in front of camera dialog. Like, this is okay with ear phones(still pretty quite), and playing on TV I had to turn volume up more than usual.

    Cool. Now do a series on video production workflow for projects! I haven't done video work in 20 years, and I always end up doing a project without recording because it adds so much time to the project. Teach me how to do it faster so I can actually publish my projects! Please? Thank you!

    Is there a segment where Chris gets into how he lights the shop? It looks like he has direct lighting on him. I'll probably do something like that so I can dim the background. I don't like all the distraction of stuff all over the place in the shops I end up shooting.

  • @PetesShopMakes
    @PetesShopMakes 4 года назад +2

    Why not use an AC adapter that just plugs in to power your camera without batteries? Do you not want to have one more thing plugged in your shop and have another cord to deal with which I know can be a hassle or is it something else? Just curious why buy so many batteries because I always felt the same as you and that they were a headache to have to constantly swap and for me personally, I would just rather deal with a cord than to be switching and charging batteries constantly. Is there a reason you didn't go that route?

    • @charlieross-BRM
      @charlieross-BRM 3 года назад

      I've gone that route with my camera. I have to take the camera off the tripod, then unbolt the quick release plate to get the battery door open and reverse all of that to resume shooting. It really kills the workflow. An aftermarket AC to camera "false battery" adapter that fits in the battery well cost me Cdn$35. That's the same money I spent prior on 2 aftermarket batteries and 1 charger and of course they are handy on field trips, but if I'm indoors for a complicated session, the AC DC adapter is something I give myself a thumbs up for getting, every time I hook it up. It's always in my bag.

    Why not a camcorder that plugs into an outlet?
    Would a multi camera video surveillance system work and with cameras mounted at each or a couple work stations? Maybe even narrate the video later?

  • @TheArsonsmith4242

    Awesome suggestions, I always seem to get bogged down in the amount of video I take. I'm by no means trying to make a professional channel, or really even a very good channel, but I do like to document the projects I'm working on and share that documentation. The amount of time and effort I have to put into editing has slowed my videos down to an almost complete stop although I have a few in the works. What are some of the thought processes you put into planning for shoots when working on a project?

    I have that same manfrotto Tripod. I’ve been trying to use it to film with my iPhone X. But my footage always tends to be shaky when I’m using my power tools. Other then moving the tripod far away I haven’t found a good fix for it. Any ideas?

    • @MakeEverything
      @MakeEverything  4 года назад +2

      Hunter that’s interesting, I’ve noticed sometimes the auto stabilization on the iPhone can make footage look shaky on a tripod.... you can get hanging sandbags for tripods that help isolate them and keep them stable. Hope that helps!

      @@hunter3771 Is your tripod up on a bench where you're using the tools or do you leave it freestanding on the ground and its still vibrating or shaking? just curious how you have things set up before you start recording.

    • @hunter3771
      @hunter3771 4 года назад

      Pete's Shop Makes I usually have it set up on the ground. The biggest contender is when I’m filming the table saw which is obviously putting vibrations out. I think I just need to give the tripod some weight and make a stand for it that it’s not taking the vibrations from the floor.

    • @PetesShopMakes
      @PetesShopMakes 4 года назад

      @@hunter3771 are you on some type of subfloor or something that carries the reverberations? I'm not thinking your shop is on a concrete slab or anything right? If it were and your saw was still shaking the tripod then Id start with checking the saw more than the tripod if thats the case. lol

  • @chetleonard169
    @chetleonard169 4 года назад

    you do need to get a microphone closer to your mouth when filming. Most resort to using a lav mic with a wireless transmitter to do this.
