- Marcos Benton, Opinion Editor for the Sacramento Bee, joined "The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross" on Thursday morning to dive into his recent piece, explaining why there's no downside for the state's capitol to temporarily host the Oakland Athletics.
The team’s lease with the Coliseum expires after the 2024 season, forcing the Athletics to find a temporary home until their new ballpark in Las Vegas is built. And the earliest a Las Vegas ballpark could be 2028. So there are three seasons where the team’s home is up in the air.

I think Vivek or the Warriors owner is taking over ownership. You don't move a team and continue to not invest in it without a plan to sell soon. Most investors only hold on to assets for no more than 5 years. I think the A's are up for sale by 2028 or 2030.
None of us want to see the A’s leave Oakland, but people come on, that ship has sailed, the MLB has already approved their move. If it isn’t Las Vegas, it will be Portland or SLC or to TN. SACRAMENTO REGION IS NOT aiding the A’s leaving. Stop living in denial.
45 year A's fan. The believe the ship has sailed. I get it. But I hope I'm wrong. So for Sac. You guys had a good conversation. I see it. MLB wants to expand by 2 teams after the A's and Tampa Bay settle their stadium issues. I definitely see Nashville being top of the list. Portland was #2 I could see but, I could see Sacramento getting serious consideration after the A's seeing if the city wants The Show.
As long as the taxpayers don't have to foot any of the cost. Somehow I'm sure the taxpayers will get hosed though.
Fisher didn't do this to help Sacramento. He never does anything that doesn't save him money personally.
Fisher has no money to build anywhere.

The financing in Las Vegas for the ballpark has been resolved. The Tropicana Hotel is scheduled for demolition in October. Schools over Stadiums, that filing will be rejected on the grounds that there is no new or existing tax levied on Nevada citizens for the ballpark. And the Las Vegas mayor has no say in the ballpark. Ballpark is not in her jurisdiction so any comments from her mean nothing. The Las Vegas ballpark will have its groundbreaking on schedule April 2025
April 2025? NO CHANCE. Many more lawsuits are coming in Vegas, the neighbors of their supposed parcel for one, other ballot measures, etc. No Chance April 2025.
