    He just went along with having him as a companion after his plan to have them killed was foiled by Lestat.

      There is more to it, later in the books we learn that Armand had begged multiple times Lestat to be with him, so he knows him well enough to know that he would help Louis. He knew that a Lestat wouldn’t let Louis to die, he was counting on it. He did loved Louis, and he loved Lestat also

      Which is opposite of the book because Armand wanting Louis was the sole reason for Armand orchestrating the trial and the coven's demise.
      And Armand knew there was no way Lestat wouldn't save Louis. I think Armand wanted Louis, but if Louis somehow died, than Lestat would suffer, and that would still be a win for Armand.

    Armand is the King of not only holding onto grudges but doing the long con. In the show feels different from the book and previous adaptations, Loius and Claudia were just pawns for Armand to exact his revenge on Lestat.
    To me, Armand making Claudia do the Babydoll act was a way to break her spirit and drive her to the point she knows her only way out is to end her life. So that was one way of getting one of Lestat’s fledglings.
    As for Francis aka Santiago, he could have stolen Claudia’s journals at any time after discovering she was keeping them. But he didn’t. He stole them only after he was caught by Armand creeping around listening to Armand chew out Claudia in the street. Armand literally threatened Francis with being boxed up like his maker if he didn’t do as he was told. Which I would think was to go steal Claudia’s journals.

    Even though it was eventually revealed that Lestat was the one to save louis, like Daniel said Armand still used it to his advantage and lied about it being him who saved Louis.
    This was the last straw for Louis and he leaves Armand before telling him he would kill him if he harmed Daniel for exposing the truth to him. He already knew that Louis wouldn't forgive him for not saving Claudia and Madeline even though he said to Louis in the finale he forgive Armand for what happened which he knows full well isn't the truth.
    Armand was treated horribly as a slave, then by Mauris and when he thought he found his companion in the form of Lestat who may of not used him(again this is due to the inaccuracies in his story and me not believing what Lestat truly did to him) him still being heartbroken by that betrayal and then would found Louis, i believe he did love Louis but was also jealous of his relationship with Lestat and Claudia. I feel for him but he is also just as bad as Lestat.

    I read Interview, Lestat, QotD, Body Thief, Memnoch, and Armand years ago, back when I was in high school. I think I also read one about Pandora and, uh, was it Marius? Or Magnus? This series has me questioning if Armand has been messing with my memories, too - and how accurate memory is, in general. I know there are big chunks that I'm forgetting and getting mixed up. I'm sitting here going, "Now, what really happened and what do I just think happened based on POV?" I really like how the show used memory and its unreliability such a thematic centerpiece. I remember feeling like later books basically retconned a bunch of stuff, which made me feel sort of cheated. That works much better as an intentional meditation on the unreliability of memory and the bias of perspective. I don't know if that theme was always in the books and I was just too young to recognize it, or if the showrunners baked it in due to what will come later. Either way, I like it!
    I still don't understand Armand's endgame, though. What is he trying to accomplish by constantly mucking about in folks' memories? Didn't this whole "interview" scenario begin because ever-suicidal Louis was, in exposing vampires to the world, also baiting the vampires into killing him? How does any of this benefit Armand? He cannot be acting simply because he wants to be with Louis; he proved himself willing to let Louis be killed in the theater and, again, by baiting the other vampires. He even hesitated when Louis threw himself into the sun. And why turn Molloy, the reporter-turned-Talamasca-mole? All I can think is that Armand is, for reasons unknown, trying to control the narrative that goes out into the world. But to what end?

      The show diverges in many ways from Anne's book. In the book Louis, Claudia and Madeleine are judged by a vampire tribunal, there's no interactive human audience and no pre-scripted play. Claudia and Madeleine die at sunrise while trapped inside an airwell. (Armand, in a later book, gives a wholly different version of this event, but as far as Louis knows, that's how they're destroyed. ) Book Louis is bricked up but later released by Armand, and Louis then gets his revenge by burning down the theater. In both the book and the show he beheads Santiago. In the book he blames Armand for Claudia's death but loses all his human emotions. Rather than exist alone he travels the world with Armand for years but is increasingly cold, withdrawn and indifferent to him. Eventually Armand tires of this treatment and leaves, and Louis could care less. Louis and Lestat are set up to be the "endgame" in the book series as in the show. I have enjoyed both versions but to be totally honest I prefer the AMC storyline because it's messier and even more wonderfully dysfunctional!

      These vampires are self loathing, they love to play the victim. I never understood why vampire shows and movies always make vampires feel terrible about being an Apex predator, and have human like guilt and feelings for eating, which is feeding off humans. It’s not like they have to kill the human if they don’t want, but even if they do, why feel bad. They are humans. Humans don’t feel bad about killing each other in mass, or eradicating other species, and killing butchering other species for meat, and fins etc. in the real world I don’t think vampires would care about humanity or having humanity feelings. It’s silly

      From what I recall (i've never read the books just watched review videos of others) Lestat was kind of out of his mind. He was still recovering from his murder attempt and when he went to Armand to see about getting healed, Armand being the little shit, just ended up imprisoning him. He ended up just begging for Louis's life since he was unable to help, being in a weakened state. After Armand spared Louis and realized he would never forgive him (and him only wanting Louis because he couldn't have Lestat) he went to Lestat and offered him his blood to heal if Lestat would be with him but Lestat refused and was kicked out a window for his trouble.

In one of the earlier episodes it shows Armand kinda beat Lestat and in Armands book he describes not being able to destroy Lestat because Lestat was made by such a powerful vampire. • @dkjkaden
      @dkjkaden 7 дней назад +2

      @thegamerboneless2864 I mean they made him look weak when he first met Armand. In the book *THE* *VAMPIRE* *ARMAND* he says "it was the vampire Lestate if one of us HAD been able to strike him down one night, break him apart with his own fancy sword and set him ablaze we might've had a few more decades of our rachid delusions but nobody could he was too damn strong for us, created by an ancient and powerful renegade a legendary Vampire by the name of Magnus" and yet in the show Armand made him look weak. And Yes it does finally show in the last episode where Lestat himself makes them rethink about trying to burn him but book wise Armand would've known to not think about it. Not trying to argue about this but definitely they're changing so much, too much that it's almost not fun. I mean Santiago was made by an old and powerful vampire (he's the newest made but one of the strongest) and yet Louis gets the drop on him? Louis isn't powerful, the only vampire Lestat made that was powerful was his mother but Nicky, Louis, Claudia, the musician from the book or this lady in the show none of them are powerful!!??? I don't know? Just thoughts when I watch it.

      @@hpvamp246The showrunners said that the labor laws weren’t the main reason. It messes up the whole concept of Claudia. She is literally a mature woman in a child’s body, not a teenager’s. A teenager can pass for an adult and they have adult actresses trying to pass for 14 and none of it really works. Plus, the character was a tribute to Rice’s dead daughter. Bailey was taller than some of the male actors she shared scenes with, which made them calling her “little girl” sort of comic. They could have found a 10-12 age actress to play her. They just didn’t want to. It reminds me of Javi in Yellowjackets. In the pilot he looked more around 12 but with years of filming, he turned 16 and had a grown spurt and then towered over some of the actresses who were acting like he was “little innocent Javi”. I felt they might use the supernatural parts of the show to explain his growth or someone would say “Javi got taller” but no one did. It just was awkward. :)

    • @hpvamp246
      @hpvamp246 5 дней назад

      @@wildmarjoramdieselpunk6396 Well I know the books based on Anne’s daughter Michelle who passed from cancer. Technically if your under 18, your still considered part of the child labor laws. And yes maybe they did decide creatively to age her up, like how they race bended Louie and Claudia. I don’t mind those creative changes personally. But in addition to just giving them more free will with her character in the romance factor, can you imagine a literal 5 year old child growing and wanting to be in a relationship with an adult vampire like Madeline. 14 years old is still not great visually pairing her with adults, but I suppose it’s less awkward than 5. In the series they definitely make her more interested in getting a companion over another parent figure. I think the only reason Javi’s situation works out is that the soccer team actresses are all older than he is so in relation to them he does appear younger, but he definitely doesn’t look like a child anymore in the second one. Stranger things is having this issue too, since the kids have grown up so quickly.
