Hey! The link on the cinched waist dress is not the right one so I am posting the correct link here because I have gotten a lot of comments for the right one. Sorry about that and it's now fully stocked in sizes. I am wearing an XS which is TTS. rstyle.me/+7hf4ad5jauBPsATarsyCgg
I am 75 years old and live in an apartment with many women my age. We like the baby-doll dresses because it makes us feel flirty and young. When you develop as many frumps, bumps, and rumps as we have the old tricks of styling won't work any more. I for one am happy with my loose as a goose dresses. Heels are no longer an option and most of us have sworn off any "shape ware" . It's all about comfort at our age.
Seeing a zillion younger people telling us of a 'certain age' how to dress is so boring. We'll dress how we dress, get over it. Beyond a good bra, I no longer wear heels, no spanx, no half tucked shirts, I'm probably not going to tuck any shirt in either. Skip whatever the current style jean is - I'll keep wearing the jeans in my closet until they wear out so I'm not contributing fabrics to landfills. I'm not part of the fast fashion generations.
I am a Grandmother, whose ample figure is difficult to hide and style. But you have offered some classic types I have applied for years and are worthy of all ages attention. The more shape an ensemble has, the more shape a woman has. Even with a thick waist you can wear a belt. Longer length pants are better than capris or ankle length. Longer, dressier pants elongate your legs. Chunky shoes of any style make you look clunky. A feminine shoe or boot is always more appealing with a heel, even a short one. The dark turtle neck with dark slacks and the cardigan or blazer over is always a successful look. The dark middle is slimming. You didn't mention your hair and earrings, but I will. A drop earring with your hair styled back enhances your neck and décolleté, so beware as you get older. A shorter drop is always nice, for formal or everyday wear. When I wear my hair back in a chignon I always pay close attention to my jewelry, especially the earrings. Hope this helps those of us who truly wear the high rise pants/slacks/trouser with a belt and shirt tucked in with a blazer. Note: Most important, is to wear a smile! You'll look younger, have wonderful smile lines as you age, and have a bit of added intrigue and interest to those around you:)
We are going wine tasting tomorrow. After watching this, I will be wearing my Mother's hand me down leather blazer (circa 1987) with a cami, jeans and ankle boots. Thanks for the idea!
It took me many years to recognize that styling is just SMOKE and MIRRORS. WE are the artist, and our lovely bodies are a blank canvas. WE can basically instruct the observer to view only where we want it to gaze with color, scarves, and material. We have that choice and also, we do NOT have to yield to what the manufacture deems as stylish. How exciting now that I know that. However, I had to teach my 40 year old daughter that tan shoes with a dress creates an extended and not dumpy look for the legs look because the eye continues downward. Finally, she understands. Thank you. Oh, and good luck with finding a nice regular or midi dress with a waistline now a days. I will check out your link with crossed fingers. PS: love your channel.
Love this video. The side by side view is great. It is amazing the difference shoes make to the outfit. The blazer is scary! Gee how to wear it would be helpful.
People also need to understand that style is personal and just because something looks frumpy on you doesn't mean it will look frumpy on them. Everyone has different body types and heights to them. Hopefully, no one is that sensitive to get their feelings hurt! This is all in good fun!! Great video👍🏽
Yes, I'm short. 154 cm. Even her fabulous looks would overwhelm me and make me look frumpy. I live in a hot climate so I wear sleeveless dresses most of the time. Really modest but the Churches here want covered shoulders. I have one dress that has a print skirt and it needs something very simple to go over it. Most of my other things are solids. I wanted to find a very light jacket or possibly a blouse I could wear as a jacket. Everything came below my hips and looked awful. I went into another store and found a white eyelet shirt. It's quite sheer and I wouldn't wear it as a shirt but it had short sleeves and a draw string waist and while not super chic, does the job.
@@Lisa59 Heavier and/or tall. 5'6" isn't short but if you're thin, the loose flowing look isn't great. A very tall woman who's thin can get away with it too.
Very, very lovely video. I have an awesome Calvin Klein jacket that I bought in the nineties at Macy's for $20 on Clearance. Super, super slimming and still looks brand new. I was pleased to see that I follow many of your tips already.
Out of ALL the fashion advice videos on RUclips that I've viewed, yours is (for me) the very best. Many of the others are too "high energy", critical, wordy, theatric & LONG. Yours is calm, polite, non-pretentious, articulate & to the point. Your balanced & perfect production was easy to view & understand. I also appreciated your showing the do & don't recommendations side by side as that especially helped to actually SEE & remember your words. Thank you so kindly!
I just loved the comparisons, Especially the belted cardigan! You have such a welcome and warmth to you that draws people to listen and receive style advice. Thanks!
Fun video. Sometimes the best way to see things more clearly is to contrast them like you did. it is fun to try things on ourselves and see what works. John Fluvog boots!!! i had similar ones to what you had and wore them out! I still have a pair of his shoes kicking around but don't buy them now since I am retired and can't wear much of a heel due to my back. His styles are timeless and Fluvog lovers unite. I just worked with a woman wearing a pair of his funky heeled boots. Keep up the great work, Jamie.
Saw your video in my feed and watched because it looked interesting. You did a great job de-frumping the trends! I am not a fan of many trends, but your improvements were so good! Looking forward to more of your content!
Nice to see the way you changed them up - even though they worked for you - I am petite and jackets that long make me look even more frumpy. I have to keep it shorter " just saying"
I love how you present the comparissons, very useful, thx! IMO the last outfit would be better with a black purse, perhaps is too many shades of colours?
More, more, more! These were so much fun! I'm going to restyle some pieces in my closet using your ideas! Thanks and loved all your suggestions. PS I'm going to give away my "mom" jeans!
I think you're very gentle in pointing out swap outs that might elevate a look. I love videos like this, because even when I fall into the 'before', it still makes me curious on how I can ramp it up with your ideas. TY.
I specifically liked her "gentle" form of speaking as well - much easier to listen to & learn than many of the others that are too high energy & theatrical.
Re: styling oversized blazer… How to wear if have VERY NARROW SHOULDERS? Also, I love blazers, but to date, not the oversized ones due to shoulder issue. Even with shoulder pads (which I like) the oversized blazers NEVER COME CLOSE TO “fitting”. They simply swallow me, even if I am not tiny! If I can not wear the oversized blazer with confidence, what would be your suggested alternative? Thanks!
Great examples of before and afters. When clothes fit well, everything looks crisp, smart, energetic, and stylish. You have a gift, Jamie Lea. Well done!
I definitely enjoyed this video! I'm always looking for outfits that flatter my short petite body. You hit on a few ideas of some older clothing that I couldn't give up but couldn't figure out how to wear in a flattering way. You solved that problem! Thank you very much! When you started the video mentioning shoulder pads, I immediately thought 🤮. That's somewhere I'll never return!!!! I'm eagerly awaiting your next interview!
I’m short…5 ft….and have tried the half tuck but don’t like it on me. I suspect it’s because I’m old! 65 yo. I still like to completely tuck all of my shirts in. This is what makes fashion and style interesting to me.

I love your style and especially the dark auburn jacket!!!
Great content! I do not like the half tuck/half out shirt trend. I think it looks silly! Love your style!
Me either, tuck it in entirely or leave it out! Half tuck, front tuck, nope!
@@cindybaggett1576 I agree
I know when I'm out and about I don't see women with their clothes half tucked . Lol it only looks nice in a picture standing still .
I agree with you 100%
Yes I don't like that either to me it looks messy.. However, I do not mind the front half tuck,

Oooooo ... I'll take that babydoll dress off her hands! Cute, comfy and right up my alley.
Nice job. Love the shorter vlogs. Short yet informative.
Turtlenecks really look good
I would love a blazer video. Not only oversized but a fitted blazer too.
I like seeing these comparisons
I like the comparisons.
No hurt feelings. Love your fab looks. Hate the half tuck. Do more like this. Really helpful.
Great, thank you!
All the frumpy were right on except the white shacket one! 😅 Too cute!! I’d totally wear it!
I would have liked it more if it were 1 or 2 sizes smaller!
Love you and love the clothes! On trend and not "far out there" to where I would look funny wearing them at 61!!! Keep up the great work!

Your version looks great. I like the comparisons.
My first watch…enjoyed very much, thank you from a 77 yr old grandmother who still tries to look good!
Comparison videos are heaps of fun!
Yes to Fluevogs! Happen to be wearing some right now.

I like the sweater/cardigan with the top and pants. I did not realize/know how to wear the cardigan.
Nice suggestion for fabulous look nd better out fit
I like the 2nd. 1 w the black belt!😊
Yes, please style the oversized blazer. I’d love more inspiration.

All the outfits are nice! The wide leg pants and white top looks very youthful on you. My favorite!
Great video, Jamie! I especially like the fabulous look of the cream booties, cream t-neck and beige long cardigan tied at the waist! Beautiful!!
Hello 👋 how’re you doing?
Absolutely! (Except that the pants look too short?)
Great ideas to go from frumpy to fabulous!! I needed this!

I agree. Loose, baggy clothes make me look heavy and baggy, as I'm 5'6" and on the thinner side. But heavier ladies might look good in loose clothing.

Love that brown color on you! Thanks for the video.
I love the updates to the outfits 👍
Love your shacket!
I quite like the cream shacket outfit and the loose swing dress looked ok I thought. I must have zero style !😂😂
I really liked the comparisons and learned a lot! Thanks !
Baby doll dresses is what I used for maternity dresses in the 70s and the 80s worked very well for me
They actually are perfect maternity dresses!
Loved the comparisons.
wow! excellent job. I totally agreed with all your changes for the fabulous versions!

Wow you are good! Love what you look did with Dad Blazer - and adding belt and long cardigan to jeans
The boot you wear with the good looking shaket is very good with the dark leg and gives you a great look. (Non- mumsy)
