I remember the first time my dad let me borrow his Led Zeppelin 3 album. I picked a random song and this was it. Became the first Zep song I had ever heard and I have been in love with them ever since. Best band of all time.
John Bonham is such a great drummer. He really lays down a solid back beat here. John Bonham and John Paul Jones have a good rhythm section, which is so evident on this track. It blends in so well with Jimmy Page's amazing guitar work, and Robert Plant's powerful vocals. Cheers!
The first time I heard this song I thought it was very good but not one of their best (with hard rock I always mentally pick out and listen to guitar at least during the first listen). And then on subsequent listens I thought, "Wait a minute. This drumming is brilliant. Very heavy and very clever, some of Bonham's best drumming and some of the best rock drumming ever recorded."
Hard rock era. One of the best song. Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Sweet and others. 1969- 1974. Six fantastic years, my favorite rock period.

One of the most iconic tracks Led Zep ever recorded. No detractor anywhere can accuse them of ripping off anyone with this gem. The riff, the rhythms, the tone of the guitar, any of it. I remember my buddies and me, we'd listen to this track, and also Hats Off To Harper, and wonder what planet this music was coming from? Most of this album was that way. It was rock music, yes, but widely different in approach from any of the other rock out there. It was yet one more indicator that Zep was taking us on a ride to elsewhere.
Do you guys notice how the lead riff and bass seem to be playing the exact same riff that pulls the song forward, then curls around bonzo's crisp riffs? As that is happening, Plant's deft vocals dance between the beats and evades them like a jumprope. It is such a rhythmic and sonic delight, I cannot forget the dance.

I was 9 when I first got this album. All the kids at school made fun of me for my music. "Grandpa Metal" they would call it, allthewhile wearing Tesla or Winger shirts.. .....Fekkin' dorks. Secretly, they would ask to borrow my tapes, or make them dubs. I'd run in to about half my class some 8 or 9 years later, and they would act as if these bands were the reason they loved music so much. "Poseurs..' I thought to myself. Then I realized I would be no better than they are/we're if I acted this way. As much as I'd like to correct them of such musical misgivings, I decided to let them enjoy the music as it was meant to. This song in particular was my personal favorite, even sometimes preferring this album (because of this song primarily) over 4 at times. Even now, as I've strayed from Zeppelin quite a bit, I bust this album out to hear this song. It's in my head at least once a week. Such a damn rocker
