I was soooo enjoying your sarcastic tone!!!! LOVE IT! You're awesome.
Lol, I was too! I think I laughed hardest at the demo of trying to cut fabric with terrible scissors. The struggle is real, haha! And that's why I started labeling my scissors with what I deem acceptable for them to cut. (I can tell which ones are which-but my ex-husband needed a little direction. ;)
It's the exact same thing! That's why I gave examples of other shapes! Just use the technique with ANY basic shape. You can even get more complicated if you plan it out well enough.
That's the third time I've heard this! I can't even believe you guys make that connection! I don't watch the show, but most people mention Spencer, so maybe I would get it more if I saw her in character, but I don't know!
Thank you soooooooooooooo much I watch all of your videos! You explain perfectly! Your speech is great!
T-shirt fabric. Cotton/blends. But basically anything that won't fray at the edges is fine to cut. Cotton/blends used for t-shirt material are better for this rolling edge effect. But anything that doesn't fray is fine for no-finish projects that you won't necessarily have to hem, etc.
You should show us all the tshirts you've reconstructed... I'd love to see everything you've done!
Yes. The same way you would have to cut it on a piece of paper without cutting the outline. Poke the scissors in at one end of the horizontal line, and cut along it until you stop at the other end. Honestly the paper thing is a good idea. Draw it on paper and practice cutting to make sure you understand how the cut works. Then do it to a t-shirt. You can see the final product here and in other videos I've done, so you can see what it should look like. It's easy once you try!
I love the way you think, and how you don't bore me for 15 minutes on something that only takes a minute to explain. Thank you! Y O U T O T A L L Y R O C K ! ! ! Great personality and you totally crack me up! :-))
I know this is a video from years ago but, I'm so sorry for all the hateful comments people have left you, theres no need for that at all, You made videos explaining thing to people and you didnt have to, dont listen to the hatefulness, just be yourself and do what you do, I dont think you where rude at all, if they dont like it they dont have to watch it. p.s you remind me of my oldest daughter :)
That's actually the next one I was going to do for one of my own projects, for Earth Day, but I ended up not doing it yet. So I still can. There are several ways to go about any shape you do, though, so I hadn't decided yet which way I wanted to do it!
WOAH omg this is sooo cool and easy to understand thank you this is awesome im going to go do this to so many shirt's its gonna be so cool thx
I think the one that didn't curl still looks super cool
I haven't actually used a razor yet, I would want to get the proper cutting mat and everything as well. I'm not really a fan of sharps so I stay away from them when possible. But it is a lot quicker, that's for sure.
I love the opening to this video! :)
I tried the peace sign (thank you for the idea) and it turned out pretty good. you should try it, but i made the lines with fabric thicker than i might've made it.
Thank you for this! I love how you gave some ideas on what shapes you can make. I have an I
Thanks! So are you!
You are so cute !!! Love how you explain it my daughter is going crazy cutting all my shirts lol :) thank you
Yep, and it will roll nicely as long as it's the right kind of fabric and the slashes are horizontal. In my Basics #3--Slashing video, I show a shirt where I tried diagonal slashes, and of course the slashes are still there, but they didn't roll like horizontal slashes because of the way the fabric stretches.
How dare you not shred every last bit of your wardrobe for the slow part of the internet? ◠‿◠
As my friend Charlie once described, there should be a little button up in the corner of your screen, it's probably red and has an "X" on it? If you press that, I stop talking. =)
you have the best personality!!
Any t-shirt. I don't pay attention to what's in it. 100% cotton should be fine, as long as it's t-shirt fabric. Pure cotton fabric, the thick kind you buy in the fabric section, wouldn't work. But stretchy t-shirt fabric does, blends or not. Basically if you can stretch it a little in one direction but not the other, give it a try.
If you want help from someone, you should probably not call them names. Name-calling only looks bad.
In all the videos where I've gotten this question, I have shown exactly where to cut. I point (with finger or scissors) and say "cut here," and in the next frame the shirt is shown in the same position but with a line now cut into it exactly where I said to cut.
Besides that, people should be free to create their own designs and not follow exactly. I'm only showing concepts and techniques.
Great job babe!
My home coming theme is "fly me to the moon" so I did a star on the back of a tshirt and put the words(:
Do you know how to make a peace sign? I'm thinking of doing this with one of my shirts and you seem like you would know how to do other shapes too. That sounds a little off, but please just go with it! :)
love your videos, keep up the good work!
It's red. I meant it's probably red and may also have an X, but it's red.
your videos are awsome
Oh I hate how mushrooms taste! I'm weird. I love how they look but don't like eating them, mostly the texture weirds me out.
I appreciate that you feel the need to gang up on this point, but I know there is nothing wrong with the way I'm explaining. Of the thousands of people who watch these, only a very small few have had trouble understanding how to cut a line. The majority of people understand, and I do not feel as though I should take more time to explain such a small thing. If you feel differently, you can watch someone else. I won't be offended. Thank you for your time.
Yay! You got it!
I try to keep things short as much as possible! Some people have wanted a lot more explanation though, but that's why I've started using the blog for things I don't want to do in video. Thanks for watching!
Good thing you explained, some people need an extra visual to get it. I think I'd be just as lost too, as much as I hate to admit. I think I'll use this for a slashed Evanescence logo, shouldn't be that hard :)
I did a six weave shirt with a small braided part in the middle
I loved the little scissors ._. lol
could you cut a shape onto a t-shirt sleeve?
Anything that doesn't stretch & roll over the edges. T-shirts will do it. But things like ribbed fabric, or other, non-cotton fabrics, usually don't. See the FAQs on my t-shirt recon blog if you have any other questions! I've just gone back and added my links to this video's description, since this was posted before I set up the defaults.
Lots of people think that, really. It's funny.
Does it work with 100% cotton t-shirts, or do you use some other blend?
cool! thanks!
Don't know if this was said, but you remind me of Anne Hathaway in "The Princess Diaries". lol.
Wow she looks so much like troian bellisario
YAY I LOVE IT.
it's funny when i first read the title to this I was thinking Recon meant Reconnaissance, but now I get it's clearly reconstruction, lol.....I mean how exactly would one have a T-shirt Reconnaissance. nobody holds t-shirts hostage........
It came out nice
Yay!
Hey, what's the best fabric to cut?
whats the wrong fabric for it ?
Why do u guys watch her videos if u hate her? I think I like h
Yeah but how d we get to the heart! Do we stab the side of the heart and then cut ? Please do this on an actual shirt!?
There are other tutorials on RUclips that show how to achieve the heart shape on an actual t shirt. I don't think she's grasping that some people have different learning styles and are more visual learners. Just search for "how to cut a heart into t shirt" for an actual frame by frame.
er attitude and she's funny, nice, u guys don't take it into consideration how many shirts she cuts up to make tutorials. I think that she's already doing enough just cutting her tops for us! LEAVE @cutewhich772 alone
Haha, I don't remember if anyone has specified which movie, but I have been told I remind people of Anne Hathaway!
Your so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It would be a little easier if you show with a t-shirt,,, Thanks!
2:07 looks like your creepy face! haha, you're amazing by the way :)
i totally agree
ur face shape os very simlar to hers... the chin the nose the eyes... =P
(Soz pressed wrong button!)
Then don't watch?
But nope, sorry I'm not sorry. I have enough faith in human beings that I don't think I need to show you how to cut a straight line. I promise it's not as hard as it looks.
Habla mucho
i like:)..
it would have been better if u actually did that on f shirt rather than explaining it on the paperrr!!!
what about those who own a Mac? lol
Wow. You are so rude, if people are asking you for help on a TUTORIAL video maybe there is something wrong with the way you're explaining it. You don't have to be so condescending.
Young lady Im sorry but someone needs to tell you that the world and its people are as diverse as you can get. thus you need to stop with the rudeness and the way you are talking to those whoo needed more clarification from you. A good teacher that can actually "Teach"understands this and will not be offended or tell those that you dont get how they didnt get it as if telling them they are dumb. There are so many differant levels of learning . You need to respect those that need more instruction. isnt that what your supposed to do. not demean them because they need more help. Do me and YOUR viewers a favor. find a quiet pace and tune out the world ypu live in and LISTEN JUST LISTEN to your video. You dont have to be like that to get yoyr point across yOu will not gain many viewers and you have nice things to share with the viewers. Remember YOU HAVE NOTHING WITHOUT THEM. Be greatful there are people that actually really wantto know how to do what you find so easy to do. They want to do what you do thats all. Be more respectful, you will be a better teacher fro it. sorry but ya are worth telling.
She's not demeaning anyone. Your comment, however, I found pretty condescending.
Imo, humor is a terrific way to connect with people and engage your audience.
