The swing speed needed to hit a 270 yard drive will depend on various factors such as the golfer's height, weight, strength, and skill level, as well as the characteristics of the golf club being used. In general, a swing speed of around 115-120 mph is considered sufficient to hit a 270 yard drive for an average male golfer using a driver with a loft of around 10-12 degrees.
However, it's important to note that swing speed is just one aspect of driving distance. Other factors such as clubhead speed, launch angle, and spin rate also play a role in determining the distance a golf ball will travel. To maximize your driving distance, it's important to work on improving your overall golf swing and using the right equipment for your game.
It's also worth noting that the average driving distance for a PGA Tour player is around 300 yards, so hitting a 270 yard drive is considered a very good shot for most amateur golfers. If you're struggling to hit a 270 yard drive, it's important to focus on improving your swing mechanics and building up your strength and power.

As a 20+ handicapper I feel like I am using every thread of muscle and effort in my body just to get to 92 mph and you make 105 look like a casual effortless swing. Golf is hard... Love all your content, looking forward to you getting back on the course.

speed is more about sequence than muscle. There are 110 lb ladies who swing 95.

I used to struggle with a low club head speed until I had my first lesson that worked on my swing path and some other basic stuff after that I easily got 100mph+ clubhead speed.

It's all about ball speed and that improves with center strikes. The short videos have been entertaining!

I'm currently looking to upgrade my 20 year old Wilson driver but can't decide between regular/stiff. I went 273 yesterday but unsure of my swing speed so this video is helpful. Thank you

Focus on the carry. 40 yards of roll out seems like a lot unless you are playing very well kept courses.

I have read your yardage is about 2.5 yards per MPH. Obviously center face (smash factor) could get you a little more. It’s only a guesstimate but close.

I was on a LM yesterday and every swing was 105+ and my longest drive was 260.1 yards. Why?

      hitting down on ball
producing too much spin over 3000 rpm
      poor contact
      mostly those reasons

Hey Bro, I've just played a few holes with range balls and declared them the worst practice tool ever cos they make you try and smash 7 shades out of them. Get some range balls on that machine Bro.

You know there are a few sites with swing speed to ball speed to yardage calculators. They may help

I swing 100mph average, get 150mph ballspeed, good 1.5 smash and get total of 275? yards or carry of about 250m. My spin is like 2,200rpm and 12.5 launch angle, all this on my new Callaway AI smoke standard driver.
I replaced an old Callaway sub zero that was THIRTY METRES SHORTER, apparently new head tech and a boutique $600 AUD Drago shaft is worth 30m (32 yards)

I had the same reaction. Rick Shiels swings 110+ and you can easily see the difference. Also in his description he says 115-120mph needed for 270, no way. I went 273 yesterday and I am not even going 105+

I'm told 1mph = 3 yards carry. When I think about what I could do age 40 and what I do now it seems about right. And i'm getting shorter each year.

You’ve been told wrong. With a 1.5 a 100 mph swing carries about 250. Alex John is correct, assuming a perfect smash factor
