Boys, these are the two guys you wanna take golf advice from. Paddy, keep putting work into YT. I know your a busy man still playing pga events. We love and appreciate the effort you're putting in. Thanks man.
Two of the best Ever. Met Pete Cowan once, well kind of I was walking past him, he stopped, looked at me & said "You're Welcome" then turned and walked away. Well Thank you Mr. Pete Cowan! Thank you
Pete Cohen probably hates the way Padraig completely simplifies the golf swing where Cohen uses big words and theories to make the swing sound more complicated than it needs to be. But when a multiple major winner talks everyone listens. Great job Paddy!
Wow, havent even watched the video yet but after 30 seconds seeing paddy and pete, this is going to be a video i watch multiple times over the next few days. My two favourite golf personalities
Once I understood this concept my game in golf significantly changed. I stopped the shoulders first and allowed the separation of the upper body and lower body to happen firing the hands down and everything else will follow. From there you can then really build a solid swing. Great tip.
I used to block and fade/slice almost everything until I saw a Golf Sensei video a few months ago and realized how the "instagram" or "Golf Channel" stereotypical "lag position" swing was killing me. Only by forcing my hands to "flip" and hit a high weak hook on command was I able to realize how slow my hands were and that's exactly what Paddy has been saying is wrong with us Amateurs for his last several videos. Excellent vid and tips here. So cool to find a tour pro making content who knows what he's talking about, especially for us regular golfers!
Thank you for your time and great advice Padraig! Ive been following you for some time and enjoy the get right to it style of swing tips. I've been a 5 hdcp for 40 years - turn 70 this year and ended last season at 3.5. Got driver swing speed to 101 with goal of 110 and get to scratch. look forward to new content whenever it comes. Best of luck to you this season! Rick
What a find! Been following Pete and Padraig separately on differing channels and to find them together laying out the Spiral, the importance of sequencing and starting small to build consistent swings is gold. Thank you both!
The key that you covered about releasing early really helped me. I was turning and leaving the hands and arms behind. It’s not easy to understand the difference until I tried a few different ways to release early. But finally got it. Thanks for helping us average golfers. I am 65 and still learning.
Love these solid tips. All those others so called internet golf guru preaches turning the left hip back so fast back that the hands is practically impossible to catch up.
I’ve seen the split hands drill but after this video I finally understood why it’s important and how to translate the drill into my swing. Thank you Paddy and Pete! Fantastic video
the most important thing to do in that drill is try to stop the club/shaft/arms at waist high on the downswing...amazing how much force is then slammed forward in the clubhead....this has really helped my iron game.
This is so useful to increases clubhead speed - that I definitely need and want this season. I like Pete's comment about the effectiveness of this simple drill without hitting tons of golfballs. Thank you Padraig and Pete. - Boston, Mass
Love it Paddy. Thanks for doing this video! So many instructors teach that huge body rotation for speed and just end up spinning out. Absolute speed killer!
Great stuff about the shorter swing. I find that I subconsciously, gradually increase the effort I put into shots, especially when I'm getting tired, till it gets to the point where I'm swinging out of my shoes for ever decreasing returns. Then when the penny finally clicks that that's what I'm doing. I'll make a 3/4 feel swing and all of a sudden. The strike is better and the distance has returned. Love these tips, thanks.
This stuff is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow 🌈. I was swinging out of my shoes, ripping my arms and hands through the swing. The more balls I hit, the more sequenced my body became. I'm 69, a former 2, who was ruined by Leadbetter/Faldo nonsense. By the end of the session, I was crushing it a touch left with a baby draw. Paddy! You are such a great guy for doing this. A real system to make us better.
Brilliant once again Pádraig, really good video, you are the best,I got a lot of power, use to train in gym before I start playing golf but honestly I don't know how I can use it efficiently and still practice these drills and unlock my swing, unfortunately have a knee injury and restrict me a lot but when a feel ok I just hitting bombs!!!
I love watching your videos. I wish I had 1/10 of your ability. You show that even though you are getting older there are ways to continue to keep up your ball speed. Keep up the good work and giving us older golfers more hope to keep enjoying the game.
Pearls of wisdom in the banter akin to an old married couple haha. Loved this video on many levels, this free learning is a blessing to us peasants of golf.
Great lesson again Paddy! Had a friend notice I have a short backswing. Tried lengthening my swing but soon realised I could hit the ball just as far more consistently with a shorter compact swing.
I loved the Tommy Fleetwood tip you used of trying to stop the club at the ball. I always tried to rotate body faster to increase speed but this stop drill instantly added 10yds carry to my driver. Happy days. Thanks
He gave my son a ball at the fedex in Kilkenny 25 years ago and he still has it. The man is a no bullsh- - e legend. He has improved my game by a mile.
Thanks for sharing, and inviting Pete to join you. It seems like he always has some insightful information to share. Would you agree that another weakness of getting long is the disconnection of arms from body where the body has a shorter distance to travel back down, and when it moves first down the arms which are disconnected can never make up the gap to catch up, and are just dragged along at the pace of the slower moving body parts. Your talk about doing things earlier than one would suspect correlated with when I put a bunch of the guys considered good ball strikers (ex: Mcilroy, Ernie Els, Adam Scott) in 3d analysis software (Sportsbox Ai). The point they have things change direction transitioning from backswing to downswing (between hands hip high back, nd left arm parallel back), the point at which they go from down and around to starting to go vertical (or diagonal) is left arm parallel in the downswing with back still turned to facing the target.Far earlier than the vast majority would suspect. Thanks for getting a bunch of us back on the right track.
What a great video. Thank you. I love Pete's instruction but i really need a interpreter to be sure i am doing it correctly. I don't know why you do this Paddy but i sure am glad you do
Love your videos paddy! Only person I take swing advice from on RUclips. I would love to get some tips on lag putting, or putting strength for long putts! Hope you do one soon!
Thanks a lot. Trouble is the pros do things naturally, we amateurs are ingenious at finding ways to do the wrong thing! Still working on it. It's almost never what it looks like or what you think it is, so we're always trying to do the wrong thing in the first place. I can relate to the spinning out of it. When I let my arms go past my body it's left going left with a touch of left.
Yeah these other golf instructors are making it seem like you should drag the club through and create lag. The swing is an arc and needs to be released earlier in the right position creating natural lag. This video kicks ass 🔥
When most of us talk about getting stuck, this is exactly what happens. You make a big turn, and your upper and or lower body fires and your arms get left behind and somewhat blocked from accelerating. I noticed that when I let my arms get off my chest and down, I can swing freely with a,lot more speed.
Played a lot of hockey in my time and have that shorter backswing described. Always trying to think of ways to make it longer but even on the range I have no idea, zero, about where the club is. Never even thought about going shorter as a method, going to try that and the hand separated swing. Fingers crossed. Thanks everyone so much !!
I slso played hockey but curiously s pro in Florida pointed out that i dont have the Canadian typical slap shot swing. Now when i travel i play "find the Canadian". I just look for a blast frm the blue line. It works do often its hilarious! Perhaps you will find me saying hello some fay and wonder who the hell i am! Haha
I love Padraigs enthusiasm after playing the game for so long...he's a legend
Completely Agree!
Yeah, exactly what I thought.
Pete Cowan's natural assets appeared to be in the danger zone when Padraig was getting really enthusiastic there.
He’s special. What other multiple major champion puts so much into teaching others? None!
@@jameslaird4207 I agree most are distant uncommunicable, but Padraig is class and so relatable. Who else does this in modern era?
Boys, these are the two guys you wanna take golf advice from. Paddy, keep putting work into YT. I know your a busy man still playing pga events. We love and appreciate the effort you're putting in. Thanks man.
That tip about everything happening earlier than you think is probably the best golf advice ever
Probably the only channel golfers really need
Thank you for offering these lessons... It's generous, classy, and genuinely helpful.
Been playing golf over 40 years. Never heard any of this before. Watched video and tried it. It works! Thanks!
I love the exasperation in Paddy's voice...brilliant!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
exasperated with that idiot talking over him.
Two of the best Ever. Met Pete Cowan once, well kind of I was walking past him, he stopped, looked at me & said "You're Welcome" then turned and walked away. Well Thank you Mr. Pete Cowan! Thank you

I love Padraig's never stop learning attitude. At 76 yo it keeps my brain healthy. I hope to apply it to my golf game.
Padraig and Pete, thank you for all your efforts providing quality instruction to help amateur golfers improve!
These lessons/thoughts are so great. To hear this is invaluable and very enjoyable. Their passion for the swing is contagious.
Wow, havent even watched the video yet but after 30 seconds seeing paddy and pete, this is going to be a video i watch multiple times over the next few days.
My two favourite golf personalities
Peronality is pushing it a bit for pete?
It really is the paddy show. The man is awesome !!!
Once I understood this concept my game in golf significantly changed. I stopped the shoulders first and allowed the separation of the upper body and lower body to happen firing the hands down and everything else will follow. From there you can then really build a solid swing. Great tip.
so good the best golf content on the planet

I love watching paddy teach , always excited to give tips!
Paddy the gift that keeps on giving …..thanks MR H

the two best coaches ive seen on youtube! Legendary!
Paddy is so good at getting the point across...love his lessons.

Love Paddy! Don’t be too hard on us amateurs. We’ve been given a lot of bad lessons, and tips for years!
Love it Paddy. Thanks for doing this video! So many instructors teach that huge body rotation for speed and just end up spinning out. Absolute speed killer!

You know we are in a golden era when we get two legends together, like these two, in one video for free!
Lets go Paddy!!! He gave me his ball, a high five, and he signed my golf ball at the Houston Open Round 2!!!
I love this video. Thanks Padraig! You rock.
I love Paddy’s instructions. Most world class pros can’t explain these fundamental concepts as well!
The most " dynamic duo" for sure . Great stuff

Brilliant tips that makes sense and communicated clearly fantastic 👍
I love listening to you Padraig, we’re cut from the same cloth, you’re a thinking man’s golf coach
I loved the Tommy Fleetwood tip you used of trying to stop the club at the ball. I always tried to rotate body faster to increase speed but this stop drill instantly added 10yds carry to my driver. Happy days. Thanks
Paddy. You are gold. Thank you for all your tips.
I wish I could get the chance to speak with Padraig in person. These lessons are awesome.
Can't believe Paddy is turning 67 this month and still has this much desire, legend!!
Paddy is not 67. He is in his early 50s
Great video guys and made so much sense.
What an awesome instruction. Thank you both for sharing this.
Lightbulb !! Thank you. - now I'll practice on being right before
You gotta love Paddy. He's coaching Pete 🤣🤣🤣. Great stuff Gents
Another great lesson Mr. Harrington.

Excellent! A man not only very capable of competing at the highest level in the game but could also be a top quality instructor. Love it
When Paddy speaks, I get an urge to visit good old Irish Pub
Passionate Padraig ! My Padna !

Well said, great video legends🏌️
This drill has helped me with driver immensely. Have hit some of my longest drives. Oh by the way also hitting 85% of fairways.
A while ago you were saying to swing the club as fast as you can and don’t worry about where it goes!
