Really good introductory video for the game! just a few things to add on to this for anyone watching 8:50 Backups also have summoning sickness, so cannot be used for dull abilities. They can still be dulled for CP however in case you have abilities that activate(untap) them 12:00 Neither play can manually add to the stack during end phase, only auto-abilities may resolve during this phase, all of this is before removing the "until end of turn" effects and checking player hand size.
I'm new to the game and I'm going to make a Selphie inspired deck called "Booyaka!"... I will probably lose every match I play in but I'll be having fun.
you don’t understand bro FF7 original was first game every where u can just walk and fly around open world map, it looked corny by todays standards but it revolutionized gaming forever i spent years playing FF7 the original game was so hard at some points i couldn’t figure it. there was no online communities for gaming back then no social media and 1 computer to household so someone was always on it so u couldn’t search half the time had to be there i guess final fantasy in general will never die SONY is 👑
@@SnuubScadoobalso it doesn’t matter. Still huge market of great used and unopened sets and you don’t really need a community since you can just do it alone.
Great video, I recently found the game through a post on twitter and was immediately interested in playing. Everything was explained very well and I appreciate the correlation to rules in Magic, which I do currently play. Made understanding everything super easy. Looking forward to getting a deck and trying out the game!
This is an amazing way to explain a tcg. Though you guys want to focus on FF using terms people are familiar with (like tapping) makes it more understandable. Thank you so much.
Nice video guys. This is one of my favorite CCG's. As one who has played many CCG's, TCG's, and LCG's, it gave me a laugh when I learned this game and "dulling" was used for "tapping." How many ways can we say tap without saying tap? Kneel, Bow. Exhaust? Hope you guys do some playthrough's on this one. Dekmaster.
nice video! I bought some cards several years ago but nobody to play here. Picked up the anniversary set and hoping to learn the game and find someone to play. Video was very helpful!
@@vh8542 @ncspacemonkey We're wanting to and hopefully going to be providing opportunities for our community members to play some games with us via webcam. If you join our Discord, you can see if there's anyone who plays, other than us 😅 At least wanted to you be aware of potential possibilities to play!
This video is way better than the official video on squares you channel thank you so much for explaining the game. I just got it for Christmas with the cloud and shinra deck from what you guys are saying looks like it's a mix between magic and the dragon Ball super card game.
Thanks for checking out this How to Play video! We've really been enjoying this card game, and are looking forward to making more videos about this game! Let us know if you've played and your thoughts on the game!
1 additional note on the legend rule that is different from MTG. While you can only have 1 of each card name, you also cannot attempt to play the character again (mtg allows you to play it and then choose 1 to leave on the field, FF doesn't give this option)
Yeah we didn’t go into that specifically…because we hate it 😂😂 we’d so much prefer to be able to play the card. But thanks for the additional note though!
Time to really learn how to play this since I'm hoping to play with a friend using Tabletop simulator. Hopefully is fun. I also have a physical deck but since I don't have anyone to play with is just for collectible.
Question about party attacks: i guess you do them when the defender has the strongerst character in play? what happens if the defender wins the combat? do all cards in the attacking party get broken?
If the attacking player is attacking with a party, the defending player gets to choose how to divide the damage the defending character is defending with. As an example, if the attacking player is attacking with 2 forwards, 1 with 6000 power and another with 4000 power, and defending player blocks with 1 character with power of 8000 power, the defending player gets to choose how to divide up the 8000 power their character is dealing. So they could choose to break either the 6000 power forward or the 4000 power character and put the remaining damage on the other forward. Now if in that same scenario, the defending players character somehow had a power of 12000 power, then both of the attacking forwards would be broken and the defending character still left on the field.
Great video, quick question though, you mention you can only have 5 backups on the field at any time. Does that mean if I play my fifth it's locked to those five cards or am I still allowed to play another but need to discard one of the backups? Haven't played the game yet so I'm still learning if it's for me or not. Thanks!
Once you have 5 backups on the field, you are not able to play another backup onto the field until there is an "open spot" on the field. There are ways to sacrifice or get rid of your backups, but you're not able to play another one until you have the room essentially. Thanks for checking out the video!
There are ways of playing digitally, either through TTS or OCTGN. There's no official app however, as I'm not sure Square wants to put the resources into something like that. There are ways to do it though.

Dang, the game is still alive. Nice.
Yes it is! The community is living and seems to be in a good state!
I think it died
Considering they’re releasing a new set, I doubt it

For Star Wars Destiny they use exhaust and Activate 😉

I'm in the same boat. Picked up a number of sets to learn and try my hand at deck building but, ultimately, there is nobody to play with.

tl;dr - same ruleset as Duel Masters, but you can also discard a card to gain 2 mana.
not gonna lie, i fricken lost it lmao at the table flip
It's a classic!
Can you discard a card for CP as many times as you want?
Nice Tutorial!!!

Wish someone would make a fan pc game for this like ygopro, cardfight area, etc. This could possibly broaden player base

Really, Jim? You had to do a Captain Planet reference, did you?
I kinda wanna buy some ff cards. I’m a yugioh player and that’s already very expensive to keep up to date 😩
try older Starter decks tgey are rly cheap or the 2 player starter deck. got mine for like 14€ and its so much fun❤
